I've been eating at Lotaburger probably most of my life since I grew up here. It's a burger joint. Expectations cannot be too high... It's good, greasy fast food. HOWEVER... With the new drive-thru, I've noticed a change in the attitude of the employees... And today marked the first time I am actually gonna stay away from one of your stores for good... It's a shame cuz it's my neighborhood Lotaburger, but I would wager that no one likes to be laughed at or made fun of while ordering overpriced, greasy fast food at a drive up on a Friday at 4:00. While visiting ABQ decided to take a day trip to Santa Fe. I had the lottaburger nm style, w green chili and all the trimmings, onion rings. I give it a 9/10. Wife said her burger was ok, as did everyone else. My some really enjoyed the chili dog. P.s. get the seasoned fries, so much better than regular fries. Typical burger shop. It reminds me of a cousin of Burger King in how the burger taste and smell charbroiled. Everything tasted fresh and the burgers were made to order. I ordered a Lotta Burger with bacon and fries with a strawberry shake. The strawberry shake tasted too artificial. Certainly didn't taste like it was prepared with real strawberries. Overall an OK experience and definitely a burger place to try if you desire a fresh, traditional burger. read more

Can't believe I'm giving this small chain burger stand 4 stars. It reminds me of Dairy Queen and kind of expected little from this place. We wanted a green chili burger and Real Burger was closed. Other places too packed or closed for the new year. So hesitantly we pulled into Blake's. We both ordered a green chili burger combo. The fries were very good and fresh. The burger was as fresh and hot as I've ever seen! They cook everything after you order. No pre cooked patty's our fries under a heat lamp here. From the fire to you! Impressive. The burger was delicious! At first I didn't see any green chilis but I looked between the two beef patty's and there was a bunch of diced chilies there. And it was perfect. 4 stars instead of 5 for lack of tables and while the produce was fine, I'm not a fan of iceberg lettuce, and the tomato was mushy. All still good, but for a few cents more, they could have an over the top burger with better produce. All in all I do recommend this Blake's. A very pleasant surprise. read more

I have been a faithful Blake's customer for over 40 years and my wife and I have eaten several thousand burgers at their various locations. A few days ago I decided to try the chili cheesedog. Huge mistake! It was absolutely disgusting and inedible - the wiener tasted like it had been soaked in hot chilis, the chili itself was greasy and the bun was chewy. After one bite I was done and went up to the counter and said that I couldn't eat it and ordered a Lotaburger instead. The shift manager was right there counting money at the next register and never looked up to address the issue. I was charged for the burger, which was delicious as always, and there was no apology or acknowledgement from anyone. Afterwards, I called the corporate office and was asked to leave a recorded message, which I did, stating the above mentioned situation. Nobody has bothered to call me back, so apparently Blake's doesn't care and doesn't want my business. As a matter of principle I will no longer patronize Blake's if this is how they wish to treat a good customer. At least I can still go to Realburger. Adios Blake's! read more

Absolutely the worst Lotaburger meal ever. I was looking forward to a burger all day and decided to grab one on the way home from work. I called my order in and was pretty happy with the automated ordering system. I got to the restaurant and was happy it wasn't too busy. It took about 5 minutes before my order was ready and I was in and out really quickly. The staff was polite. The problem? The smallest portion of greasy seasoned fries I've ever seen. They cost $2.50! The burger? Tasted like it had been sitting on the grill for hours. Blakes is an institution in NM. My friends that have moved away always want to stop in, until recently. I've been to this blakes several times and every time it's a disappointment. Yesterday I ordered the breakfast burrito. You know the one. With bacon cheese eggs hash browns and GREEN CHILE! Apparently, this blakes thinks there is a world wide shortage of green chile. (Well. Maybe there is). But in New Mexico there is not. Since I tasted no spice of delight I decided to investigate. During the surgery, it was determined this breakfast burrito had not one, but two whole pieces of chopped green chile. What the heck? Also. Such sloppy folding of a simple burrito. I had my heart set on stopping by a Blake's Lotaburger for a Green Chile Cheeseburger while in New Mexico, and it lived up to the expectations! And what I mean by expectations is a greasy, fast food version of a New Mexican staple. We had dinner at another spot, then walked around Meow Wolf for a couple hours, and on our way back to the hotel drove by a Lotaburger (it's a local chain a la In N Out, so you're generally never too far from one) and I just had to pull through to take one back to the hotel room. Ordered a burger with cheese & chile and added a Cherry Chocolate Shake. Shake was eh BUT this is about that burger. Meat was juicy, bun soft, cheese melty, and green chile plentiful...and spicy. Like the perfect amount of spice. I also appreciated that the burger didn't have much else to muddle up the main flavors. No tomatoes, no mustard, nothing else. Felt like a rite of passage. I'm now a New Mexican and nobody can tell me otherwise (only kinda kidding...). read more

Lotaburger! All one word. Fast food New Mexico style. New Mexico owned and operated. This is a chain of 76 hamburger joints that are only in the Land of Enchantment. Can't get one in Texas or Arizona. The one on St. Michaels is my favorite, probably because I've eaten in here more than any of the others - at least a couple hundred times - no I'm not making this up! Besides the staff seems extra nice and efficient in here. They don't do drive-through, so you actually have to get out of your car and walk in. They have a few tables outside, but none inside. You just walk up to the counter, order, wait just a couple minutes and take your food back to your car or sit on one of the outside tables. Most folks pick up and go back to work and eat. They have great green chili cheeseburgers & great chili-cheese hotdogs (not bean chili, but real green chili). Fresh french fries that taste like someone just sliced and fired them. Hey, maybe they did! I love that they have fresh fast food and not stuff that's been shaped and frozen and all dried out before it even hits the grill. And the real "lotaburger" is huge! I've never finished one, but again I'm not a big eater. I always go for the "itsaburger." More my size. But, hey, if you've never tried one you should just jump in with both feet . . try the Lotaburger. Ask for extra napkins . . . you are going to need them. read more

While on vacation in New Mexico we passed several of these fast food places and I will admit they peaked my curiosity. So before we left back to Colorado from our well deserved vacation I made it a goal to have a Lotaburger !! We opted to try one of the locations in Sante fe as research indicated they were established and headquarted in Albuquerque. So we opted for lunch and the thing that interested me in lotaburger was the fact they put green chili on their burgers, optional of course. As we waited for our order I was amazed at the amount of people that came in for lunch, as I watched the staff crank out the burgers I noticed how the order was checked and verified moving down the line up until it was placed in the bag I ordered a double with green chili, cheese and bacon. Ill admit it and I undersand its only a little burger joint with outside seating and limited seating inside, but give it a shot if your in the area. We thoroughly enjoyed all our meals and recommend trying this burger joint and add the green chili since that is New Mexico is known for. read more

I just don't fully "get" Blake's. I don't get that they have good burgers, good fries, GREAT onion rings, but shitty restaurants. I don't get why the restaurants and parking lots are set up like a drive in, but don't operate as such. I mean, most of their restaurants have hardly any seating, but HUGE parking lots for like 30 cars, and the lots are set up with diagonal parking just like a Sonic but without the menu boards and carhops. When we visited, there were 4 people eating inside the restaurant, and 10 people eating in their cars. Us? We ate in the car. I don't get that they are known for their Green Chile Cheeseburgers, yet they don't offer a straight up Green Chile Cheeseburger on their menu. You have to order GC on the burger, and it costs extra. I don't get that this is a local chain, and a pretty successful one as far as I can tell, but the restaurants and employees all seem old and dirty. If white is going to be your primary wall color, counter color, and uniform color, you had better keep everyone and everything pretty damn clean. Blake's is a New Mexico institution. Everyone I've met that is from the area was always surprised I had never eaten there in my many visits I used to make to NM. And after I tried it once, I now almost always eat at Blake's when I visit. The Green Chile on their burgers make for a quick and satisfying GC fix. The GC is addicting, and the burgers, fries, and rings are also very good. I would love to see the ownership reinvest some cash into their restaurants, re-imagine their menu to include some "all in one" burgers and combos, and retrain all of the customer facing employees to be more friendly and to enunciate instead of mumble.
