I have been going here for about 20 years wishing I had a house to raise some chickens. Now I have a house and three hens. This store sells organic feed so I know my eggs are pesticide and hormone free. At the store you can buy all kinds of products for your hens. The also sell a huge range of products for other pets you may have. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The store has a Great old time, quaint atmosphere. Great place to take the kids. I was pretty disappointed to see how expensive this place has become. We used to buy our dog food here but all our dog supplies were much cheaper at Walmart. We were told hello when we came in which was a plus. But no one asked if we needed help with anything. They used to have more pets outside but it's pretty empty now. read more

Blacksmith's Corner has been around since my grown children were little. Back then, we would take them to watch the chickens and buy pet food. Over the years, we have enjoyed going there. If you want help with your pet needs I wouldn't bother coming here the prices are great but they really don't care to really help. my experience has been horrible I will never come back here again price is not the only thing that matters. I walked into the store on Friday at closing time because my dog jumped out of my car and I need to buy a harness so that he would not continue to jump on my lap while I'm trying to drive back home. He's so upset that he had diarrhea as I was walking into the store. not one employee in there was helpful. I ended up buying something that is absolutely inadequate and they couldn't wait for me to just get out. Total waste of time. I chose to go there instead of the other good pet stores and regret that choice. I even talk to the person at the gate and let them know how I was feeling and he could give one rats ass about what I was saying ..tried calling the owner and his mailbox is full ...seriously go to Centinela pet and supply or express pet food ..you will get help with your needs. There are hundreds of bunnies being killed in local shelters daily and this store continues to sell them. Every breed of rabbit is available in the shelter or through a local rescue so do not be fooled by their selection. Everything from a Flemish Giant, Lion head, Angora, Dutch...they are all available. And, when you get one from a shelter or rescue it is already spayed/neutered. The staff at this store is not accurate in sexing bunnies and boys/girls are frequently kept together when the female is old enough to get pregnant. And I will spare you the details of what happens to the unwanted/unsold bunnies. They don't sell the all...but they won't keep them forever because the new babies come in. Even if you have no plans to get a second bunny the one you bought will have behavioral issues due to hormones after 4 months of age, including aggression, spraying urine, digging and acting agitated if it is not spayed/neutered. And a female rabbit has an 80% chance of having a reproductive cancer by the age of 2 if it is not spayed. Buying a bunny from them encourages this store to keep breeding them (or buying from a breeder) and the ones in shelters continue to die. read more

I come here to buy feed for my chickens and the menagerie of animals my kid has talked me into buying for her. From the guinea pig, birds, dogs, and chickens I have, I only need to come to one place to buy food and supplies for them all. The prices are lower than big name places like Pet Smart or Centinela. It does stink a bit but that's because they have live animals everywhere. It's a pretty clean establishment and the staff is knowledgeable about lots of stuff. They aren't the friendliest bunch but they do take good care of you. read more

This place is awesome. Its almost like walking into a petting zoo, although the number of animals they have has decreased. For you dog people out there THEY SELL CANIDAE HERE that is my favorite part. They have alot good pet supplies. I buy my dogs' shampoo here too. It doesn't have a bunch of crap in it to irritate their skin like all those petco shampoos. I believe its called orange shampoo (it smells like oranges duh). They also have an oatmeal one too (no it doesn't smell like oatmeal lol). They also have leather harnesses and leashes. oh and they sell vaccines and flee and tick control (advantage/frontline) for a fair price. the staff is friendly and usually on sundays they have pets available for adoption. They also sell bird cages (big ones and small ones) for a good price. And if you are in teh market for a goat, rabbit, peacock, goose or duck this is your store. Pets are welcomed :) They close around 5pm and are open 7 days a week. They are located off of lakewood blvd south of the 91 fwy (about 2blocks or so) right accross the street from a NORMS restaurant (well sort of). read more

i love this place! my dad used to bring me here as a little girl to see all the chickens and rabbits. i now come here to buy my great danes dog food! they carry good food for large breed dogs and all trypes of breed dogs. chicken soup for the dogs soul, diamond naturals, taste of the wild. they have a huge variety of flavors and allergy friendly as well. they are at a good price as well. will always continue to be a customer here! read more

Ok full disclosure, I used to go here way back in the 80s and 90s so the nostalgia goggles may taint my review a bit. I wasn't sure what to expect walking into the store after having been so long. The store certainly has a decent amount of items and stock. The prices seem fair enough but the biggest change had to be the animals or lack thereof. There are only a few cages just past the retail items. There were only a few cages with finches, parakeets, doves and chicks. There were a few rabbits, some had protection for their feet over the wire bottoms at least one didn't. There was one tiny tank of mice. No more rats, hamsters, guinea pigs, or chinchillas. There is a wondering chicken throughout the store if you want a selfie. Outside there's a cage with geese and chickens. There seemed to be a Canadian goose. Not sure how legal that is. They seemed cold out there. The one wing that used to have animals is now a karate studio. Sad. It was weird however to see a wall of old time candy, for humans, toys, fireworks and chips. Not sure why it was in a pet store. There's definitely a good amount of supplies here but i think I'll stick to Bellflower Feed for now. read more

This store is very nostalgic and my boys love coming here however this customer service is terrible. My boys and I were looking at the hens and as we were out there a larger, tall man with brown hair went into the hen pen. We tried asking him some questions and he clearly didn't want to be bothered. He was giving us one word answers. Then when I went to pay a female worker with curly black hair( I think her name is Samantha) asked if I was ready. I said just about, I want to call my husband to see if we need more shavings for the coop. She rolled her eyes and walked away. As she walked away she very rudely said "when you're ready let me know." Well how in the hell can I let her know if she walked away? Another gentleman by the name of Juan was the ONLY nice worker. He even apologized for the previous girls attitude. He was so nice and helpful. I don't know why most of the employees here are so rude and bothered. This wasn't the first time we had this kind of experience. I come here every 2 weeks for chicken food and every time the employees seemed annoyed to. Help me out. I think it's time I start looking for another place to purchase my chicken needs. read more

'I have shopped here for pet supplies for years but after today I will no longer give this place my business. Although I've often been waited on at the counter by rude, uninterested sales people, I've always had an attitude of anyone can have a bad day. Today I purchased a hamster carrier which stated on the tag that it was made of "durable construction" and "cozy and comfortable for hamsters and other small pets". Two hours later I tried to return the carrier that the hamster had chewed through and made unusable. The manager refused to give a refund stating "that's what hamsters do". When I pointed out that it was made specifically for hamsters and the durable construction information on the tag, she still refused. When I pointed out it had only been two hours and they have a 30 day return policy she said "your hamster ruined it". I told her I will deal with the manufacture directly and never shop here again and her response was "okay". There are plenty of places that want my business and where I won't have to put up with poor service and bad attitude. I will be checking out Bellflower Feed the next time I need anything pet related. read more

Normally I buy chicken feed at Bellflower Feed, about 6 min away by car from Blacksmith's Corner, but I thought I'd give them a try. First impression on selection of feed was good, as well as the price. Had a very nice woman help me with picking out what I needed. Downside was the checkout counter service. The guy was very disinterested in doing his job. When I attempted to pay the $14 bill with my debit card I got a lot of nonsense about how he'd need to run it as a credit card if it was below $20 sale, or pay a $.60 fee to do a debit. I paid with cash and he called a guy to load the 50 lbs. of feed into my truck. I'm the only vehicle in the parking lot and the kid comes out with my bag of feed in about 30 seconds. Nice responsiveness, but he says he needs to see my receipt. I give him a "you've got to be kidding" look and get the comeback "they tell me I've got to do this, so I do" No problem with the kid following orders, but from a customer relations standpoint I have a problem with having to prove I'm not a crook to someone I just patronized with my business. Bottom line this is the first and last time I'll be at the Blacksmith's Corner. I'll drive the six minutes to Bellflower Feed for good feed, good service, and no attitude. read more
