VIOLET should NOT be allowed to handle dogs. I've been bringing my dog to this PetSmart location for years and have always had a good experience--until recently, when he was handled by a groomer named Violet. From the moment she interacted with him, it was clear she lacked the patience and care that's essential in this profession. When my dog laid down and rolled over (something he often does when he's relaxed), she immediately said, "So annoying." That comment alone was a red flag, but since we've trusted this location for so long, we decided to move forward with the appointment. Not long after, we received a call from Violet saying she needed to charge extra because our dog didn't like the blow dryer. That made absolutely no sense, considering he's had countless groomings here with no issues--until now. It was very telling and made us seriously question how he was being treated. Our dog is incredibly sweet, gentle, and well-socialized. But after this experience, we were shocked to find that Violet had added a note to his file labeling him as a "difficult dog." Now, each visit is accompanied by additional fees and unfair assumptions about his behavior. It's heartbreaking that the very place he's been going to since he was a puppy is now the reason he's anxious about grooming. read more

Darla absolutely loves Violete! Whenever we bring her in to get groomed, her tail is always wagging so happily! She loves to get the princess treatment because Violete gives Darla all the attention. All eyes on her! Violete is communicative, sincere and gentle to my dog. I know the spa day for Darla is superb when I pick her up because she's smiling from ear to ear. For grooming, Mondo is absolutely amazing! He's incredibly patient, provides excellent customer service, and it's clear he genuinely cares about our dog and us. His grooming is always well done, and he's very understanding of how anxious our pup can be, which makes a big difference. We've also had a grooming appointment with Violet once, and she was great as well. She communicated clearly with us and her work was also really good. Made an 11 o'clock appointment for my dog to get a bath in the grooming salon. They started to take him back and when I asked about how long it takes she said 2-3 hours. I said to give him a bath? She said well I have four other dogs to do. I asked her what is the point of making an appointment? My dog is a nervous pup anyway and no way was I going to have him put in a cage for a few hours. Wasted trip and very aggravating experience. Know in advance that your appointment time is meaningless. read more

the feeder caterpillar cups were full of mold and dead hornworms. when i brought it to an employee i was told that they would be fed to animals in the store, and had been shipped in a hot truck. shipping live animals with no temperature control, even feeder insects is terrible. allowing them to be put out for sale is terrible, feeding them to any living creature after they sit in mold and dead caterpillars is terrible. wouldn't reccomend buying feeder insects here as it seems they don't put effort into ensuring they're safe and of good quality for your pets. read more

This review is specifically for the Grooming Salon. I had already had a bad experience here a couple months back and had not gone back since. Yesterday , I decided to give them a second chance as I had missed my appointment in a different location. For squeezing me in, I thank them. But I will never be going back there again. So my dog, she gets very very anxious so I request for an express wash. I have taken her to different pet smarts several times and they NEVER EVER have an issue with her. They tell me how good she did , they finish the job 100% and essentially have no issues. Mind you my dog is not aggressive , she just gets very anxious and cries. Even the groomer herself started with that. But, this is not the case here at this specific location. The two times they always say , we couldn't finish brushing her and blowing her so they have given her to us damp. I had also purchased an extension pack that came with bandanna at the end of her shower and I had to ask for it. Also, Yesterday the groomer basically insinuated not to bring her back to this location. She suggested "I shower her at home instead" "take her to a vet "or give her calming treats if I did make another appointment. This is upsetting because I have never been told this at any other location. Either they are not experienced or they are not patient with the animals. Lastly, yes I got an express wash. I am aware I have to stay in the area so that I can pick her up when She's ready. At 2:35 I got a text that my dog was ready for pick up. I had gone to the Whole Foods right next to the pet smart to use the restroom and as soon as I got the text I rushed it to petsmart. It took me two minutes to get there. Once I had picked her up and got into the car I saw they had already called me a total of 4 calls and had left me a voicemail but was cut off as soon as they saw me walk in. I walked in two minutes after the text was received and was left a voicemail "reminding me it was an express wash". I would know it was an express wash, I requested and payed for it. I'm sorry , but if you know someone who can get there within 30 seconds of receiving the text, please let me know I'd like to ask them what they eat or do in their day to day life to be so fast. If i would have gotten there 5-10 minutes later I would understand the voicemail for a reminder. read more

I went to find a harness leash for my dachshund. Right after I left the store, I noticed that the leash was too big. The clerk who helped me determined that my dog was in between sizes. She encouraged me to look at other style and try on more leashed. I found one and she exchanged it. read more

I bought a package so can't really go anywhere until its over but one thing I could warn pet parents about is one of my biggest pet peeves is that they are always done in 40-45 mins and when I pick up my dog, its ALWAYS wet. The staff at this location are incredibly friendly, something I haven't experienced at any of the other locations. The outside is also very modern and appealing to the eye and it's located next to a bunch of interesting establishments if you want to try something new. It's a bit of a lengthy drive for me but I will for sure be coming back when I'm on the hunt for dog toys. read more

On 5/28 I took my cat as a walk in to get her nails trimmed, I usually make my appointments for her grooming with Wacheree but she was not there. Dana is the one that took my cat, she came out in less than three minutes and said my cat was growling and couldn't cut her nails there was a lot of dogs so I know my pet was probably scared so I understood she told me to just take her when Wacheree was there until 6/11 so I was at the Petco and saw Dana I explained to her my cat was probably a little scared and Wacheree usually does my appointments before anyone gets there cause of the dogs barking. So she made an appointment for me in 6/5 at 7:15 am I was there at 7:13 and so they were having problems with the printer I waited i explained I had already been there 15 minutes and had things to do, she didn't do nothing but kept trying to fix the printer I told her I didn't need a receipt and I would pay cash, still took her time so she finally takes my cat in at 7:36 and brought her out by 7:38 that she couldn't cut her nails cause my cat was growling I told her I saw how she pulled her out of her bag and told her in the five years I've had her I've never scruff her, and I have never seen Wacheree pull her out like that I was pissed my cat waiting in her bag 25 minutes and in 2 minutes out, so disappointed and at 9:30 I had her nails done somewhere else with no problem at all I was there by 9:20 she was out by 9:25 I told them about my experience at Petco and was told an adult cat shouldn't have been scruffed that's only for kittens and also mentioned a lot of clients complain about Petco not wanting to take time or deal with pets there, and I'm very disappointed to hear that Dana was there new manager, I buy all my cats needs from there litter, toys litter freshener food I will stop going there and will go to pet smart for her things I have recommended so many people to Wacheree and I won't go there's anymore and will not sent anyone there knowing they don't care for your pet!!! read more

It's taken a minute to find a good cat groomer for my senior kitty. After calling around, I got an appointment at this location with Ivette. She took time to explain the process to me before taking her back. Ivette was friendly, knowledgeable and answered all my concerns. The icing on the cake was when I asked her how long she thought it would take. Much to my surprise, she advised that it would take approximately 45mins! I was both shocked and amazed. When I've patronized other places its taken up to 3-4hours WITH an appointment. Ivette further explained that their goal is to groom cats as soon as they arrive, so as to avoid any unnecessary waiting and stress from the barking dogs. I cannot say enough about how pleased we are with Ivette and this location. We will definitely return. Good job Ivette! Thank you!! read more

Very disappointed. Brought our dog in for grooming, bath, nails. All they could do was shave her body. Didn't touch her face. Only trimmed one (1) toe nail. They DID charge us full price though! I understand if my dog is not holding still, it is in her best interest to stop the service, BUT, there should be a price break for this; I talked to a supervisor and nope. $52 later and a BIG lesson learned. We took our pet Arya for the first time to your store at LBX. We normally give Arya a bath ourselves, and in the past we took her to the store in Seal Beach for just a nail trim only. We figured we would try having your store at LBX because we live in Long Beach and have her bathed and brushed as well. At first, we were impressed at speed at which everything was done, in less than an hour we receive a call that she was ready to be picked up. The young man at the counter gives me the bill for $33.00, I pay the bill, go back and pick up Arya and walk her to my car. All is fine and wonderful until Arya gets in the car and shakes as most dogs do and hair is flying everywhere. I couldn't believe it, she just got a bath and was brushed and hair is going everywhere. So my spouse and I look at each other and ask ourselves, there is no way they gave her a brush as they claimed. So we walk her back in and explained the situation to the attendant. This time, there was a young lady there that responded "We will brush her again, but next time, you will need to pay for an extra brushing". My spouse comes back and explain what happened. It took a lot to leave without going back to give her a piece of my mind. I will NEVER be back and NEVER recommend your store to anyone. I found her statement to be rude and it showed how horribly trained she was on customer service. If this is the way you train your associates to welcome customers, then you don't deserve my business. I really like this petsmart! The employees are nice, the store is well stocked, and the store is nice and big and quiet! During the holidays, they always have the corresponding toys for your dogs and cats. They have a large variety of pet food and vitamins. They also have birds, Guinea pigs, and cats in the back to adopt from. It's nice to know that these cats get spoiled with warm beds and toys while they wait to get adopted. read more

This place is like going to a mini aquarium without paying. Lol. I love walking around this place and just look at various fish they have. They also have reptiles and birds. So you can easily spent some time here and not notice it. But be careful cuz you may end up buying more things than you normally wouldn't buy since they have tons of things that your pets or future pets may need. The store is clean and well organized. Staff are friendly and helpful. Parking is free and there are tons of parking as it is located next to Whole Foods so you can buy your self goodies after buying your pets some goodies. ^_^ read more

I have a sweet but very energetic puppy who was hesitant to walk back with him and he was extremely patient, friendly, and accommodating for my pup. His shirt said he was "In Training" and I was thoroughly impressed with his professionalism, kindness, and willingness to go the extra mile to make sure my pup and I were comfortable.
