Rachel did a fantastic job with the dog. He tends to be squirmy and does not like his paws touched and refuses to be brushed even when his parents try to do it. It's challenging for sure. But Rachel did a fantastic job! She even got out his tear stains/eye boogers. It's been tough for me because he absolutely refuses to get his face wiped, much less his eye area. Dirty Paws did a great job giving my dog the royal treatment. He came home smelling clean and was not anxious at pick up. He's normally a pretty chill old fella, but there have been times he was anxious at pick up from other groomers but not this time. The shop is clean, busy but not loud, and very friendly. Did not have a good experience when I brought my dog here. She was a bit matted but they shaved her so low. At the time, they had not heard of a miniature bernedoodle so that should have been my first red flag. In addition, my dog had green stuff on her nails when I picked her up. I'm assuming they cut her nails low enough for her to bleed, and this green residue must have stopped the bleeding. Lastly, I called to ask what time I should pick her up. A man answered (not the woman who I interacted with at drop off). He gave a time and I said, "okay, great. And what time do you close?" I guess he took that as me declaring that I was going to leave my dog there all day -- I was not. So, he replied, "we're not keeping her until close" or something along those lines. The assumption was an immediate turn off for me. I literally lived/worked 10 mins away (I have since moved), but could only pick her up on my lunch break due to the nature of my job. I just wanted to make sure that if I had to come get her slightly after, that I wasn't holding anyone up. Overall, it was not a good experience. This is my first time bringing my dogs to Dirty Paws. I brought one of my dogs and my mother in laws dog for a full groom and the charges were reasonable and they did an excellent job. Rachel did the grooming and she did a beautiful cut on the Chiuasky (Chihuahua/Husky mix). And the dogs were very happy when I picked them up which made me feel even better. One is quite vocal like a purebred husky if she is not happy. And I LOVE the little snap on bow collars that they were given after grooming. I think they hired a new groomer because I've been to this location several times and never had any issues until yesterday. We too our labradoodle in for a groom and a haircut as we've done 3 other times. I get a phone call that they need to stop the groom because our dog is nervous and won't let the groomer cut her hair and it's not safe. I ask if they can continue with just washing and the groomer gets on the phone and says it's not safe and they have to stop. She tells me we need to get her sedatives from the vet before bringing her back. I tell her that's odd because we were just there in September and had no issue. She tells me "it shows the last time she was here was over a year ago, maybe the records are under a different name." That makes no sense because our dog is only 10 months old and I absolutely brought her in September (photo 1). My husband goes to pick up the dog and sends me a photo (photo 2). They had attempted to completely shave her face and neck. We have NEVER had this happen. For dogs like ours, you are supposed to use scissors, especially on the face. And they were using a choke collar, which we never use at home. I am super disappointed as I thought we had found our grooming place but I will not be back. read more

Worst experience, botched my dogs coat and I brought my Pomeranian to Dirty Paws on her 1st birthday to clean up for her birthday party. When I made the reservation I specifically stressed just a bath, clean her sanitary areas and nail trim. I said VERY VERY light cleanup around her chest since she is shifting into her adult coat. My partner dropped her off and also gave the same direction. My partner went to pick her up and her hair was botched like a super cuts job. They cut her chest and around her face and ears so short. All uneven and blunt chopped. Looked like a bad 80's feather do done with a dull craft scissor. Initially my partner said it was hard to see the terrible job when they brought her our because she had her sweater on and was jumping around. When he brought her home we were both saddened after we took her sweater off and looked at the mess. I immediately called the salon but it was the end of day and had closed so I left a message expressing my disappointment and how the direction we gave was not followed and the outcome did not resemble my dog. I was so sad and this literally brought me to tears. She did not even look like a Pomeranian. The next morning nobody called from Dirty Paws to followup. My partner called and the owner was unapologetic, rude and argued that they didn't think anything was wrong with the service. He went on to say that his groomer has been grooming for over 10 years and the salon has performed over thousands of haircuts on dogs. Ummm what about Pomeranians? Do your groomers know how to cut this breed? Where were they trained??? Just because you have been doing something for X amount of years X amount of times doesn't mean you're doing it correctly. If thats the case where are these thousands of satisfied dog owner's reviews? Coincidently a week later we ran into another Pomeranian owner in Long Beach. We began talking and she said that she used to bring her dog to get groomed at Dirty Paws but she doesn't anymore because the service has declined and that Richard the owner is not customer service driven and very rude. She also mentioned that her groomer left and there isn't anyone there that's good. I would stay far away from this place. Clearly they don't hire professionals or care about the clients satisfaction. Ileana was the groomer so steer clear. I've let everyone know about this as well as the usual grooming salon I typically go to, but that day they could not squeeze me in. Lesson learned to stick with a place that works. ZERO stars for execution and customer service. Never again and spread the word! They suck You can see from the photos she has a classic Pomeranian look and botched down. They cut length and just kept cutting without any thought on how this breed should look. read more

It was our first time and I had a pleasant experience with Dirty Paws. My husband used to use Dirty Paws when he had his dog and he suggested to check Dirty Paws for grooming our Puppy. I called first thing in the morning when they opened up at 10 and they were successfully squeeze us in the same day at noon. I was happy with that. Sharon greeted us right away when we walked in and she took time to ask how we like our Puppy to look. When I picked our Puppy up, he looked exactly how I imagine to look and Sharon did a great job taking care of Puppy. I have been taking my baby to Dirty Paws for a few months now. I took her in last Saturday but there was no appointment for her even though she has a recurring appointment. They asked me for a copy of the text but I thought I deleted it. They took her any way and gave her a great Summer cut. I'm so grateful they were able to squeeze us in. I found the text tonight so it was clearly a system issue. My advice would be to retain your confirmations but other than that you won't be disappointed. Our pup got muddy at the dog park so I looked up self service dog wash locations and this one popped up nearby. It was my dog's first time ever at one of these so she was pretty nervous but they've got a really nice set up to get your pup in the tub. Took my dog here to get a full bath/haircut and noticed he was extremely uncomfortable near the base of his tail when he got home. When we had picked him up, the groomer told us that they noticed a hemorrhoid while expressing his anal glands; however, the vet informed us a few days later that it was actually just a really full gland that the groomer had not taken care of. Additionally, the day after his grooming appointment our pup couldn't stop squinting his eye. We waited to see if it would go away before taking him to the vet who told us there was trauma to his eye, most likely caused at the groomer as we had been keeping a close eye on him due to the other discomfort we had noticed. Where should I begin...... To start I've been taking my dog to be groomed here for the last two years. My dog is a chihuahua/shitzu mix breed and his coat is very fluffy but very curly at the same time. They've always done a great job. He always looks great and we are always very happy with the results that we even recommend family, friends and co workers to take their dogs there. This past Sunday was a different story. We specifically asked for a teddy bear cut and a much cleaner cut on his paws since his paws always grow out faster. Like grinch feet. Our normal groomer must've not been there that the owner had another groomer take him. When my wife handed our dog to the groomer she just seemed uninterested and not really taking note of what she was saying. We told the groomer we wanted his trim to be a little longer since we don't live in the area and where we live its still very cold. We also wanted a teeth cleaning, ears to be plucked and polished/buffed nails. They offered us a deal they were running that included all of that plus a bandana. Who can turn down an offer like that. We agreed and they told us it would be about a few hours before he was done. But only an hour later we got a call that he is done. That should've been a red flag but in the past it was roughly about the same time and he always looked great. When we pick him up it was BAD. We sat in are car trying to figure out what to do. We didn't want to traumatize the dog again so we left. The next day we called twice to talk them about this with no answer. During business might we add. Not satisfied but still very upsetting. We will never bring our dog back to this place and will not recommend this place to friends and family. read more
