What a hidden gem for dogs. House of Paw in Belmont Shore abruptly closed down so we didn't have a dog groomer anymore. I desperately called to see if I could get my dogs in and the owner was very nice and said they could get cut same day. My Shih tzu is a handful and he did really well with Pet Partners. Dropped my babies off at 11 and they were both ready by 3! They were pretty matted but the groomer did so well. It was $150 for both so a little higher than what I'm used to but I will be back. It's worth the drive for my pups. They also sell food! The owner gave me free samples I'm excited to let my dogs try. read more

I decided to try this place as my pup needed a specific chew and wanted to make a walk of it with her. As SOON as I walked in, the smell of urine was so overwhelming! I forgot what the hell we went there for! With my eyes starting to water, I asked the owner REALLY fast if he had that chew and he quickly looked at what he had, grabbed something really quick, and while waiting for me to grab it, he said, "Here." I said, "no, that's not it." As soon as he turned around to look again, we bolted! I knew he didn't have it and even if he did, that chew would make my whole house smell like that place if I took it home and I sure as all things wholy wasn't going to let my pup chew on it! GAG!! Quick to finish your sentence for you, rush you out the store, and gives off snake oil salesman vibes when he is trying to downplay big name brand stores like Petco. My first time walking into this store I felt like I was hustled into buying a bunch of random miscellaneous items.The sign that he has on the door directs you to call a number for after hours, since the store closes at 10, but it goes straight to voice mail. I addressed that to him but he brushed me off and changed the subject in the rudest of ways. Save your time and money, go support another store, this place is a dead end and the guy needs to pack up and hit the road. Makes me sick to my stomach every time I have to make a last minute run to this TERRIBLY MANAGED STORE whenever other places aren't open. My elder cat was in need of a last min wash before heading to the vet. She was experiencing incontinence and I was pretty shaken up. So, I was relieved to discover Pet Partners was the only place that could take her immediately. It's true what people are saying about the owner. He did attempt to guilt me into the free samples but that wasn't the worst of it. When I first arrived he swiftly took my cat into the back without giving me the opportunity to say goodbye. When he came back he told me I'll get her back within two days. I could only assume he was joking but his deadpan delivery was unsettling. He eventually confirmed his attempt at making me laugh but all I could muster was a Wan smile. When I called to check on the status of things he said, "OH do you really want to get your baby?" Of course I did! I was in no mood for his lousy attempts at humor and drove down to the store to rescue my cat from this weirdo. The owner began his sales pitch when I arrived. I started by asking me about MY personal diet and used that as an opportunity to interrogate me about the food I give my cat. Mind you, he did all this before he even left to retrieve my cat. When I finally discarded any social obligation to be polite and cut the conversation short, the owner acted insulted. My cat was clean and the service was dirt cheap, but I will never return for I cannot trust they have my pets interest in mind. read more

I spoke to Albert two days before bringing in a stray cat for a flea bath, deworming, and to check her ears for mites. I emphasized that my plan was to take her for low-cost vaccinations right after, as I couldn't let her near my indoor cat without them. Albert even recommended a cheap animal hospital for vaccinations. Affordability was my priority, which is why I chose Albert despite a neighbor's warning about him making his dog's nails bleed. So I specifically did not request nail trimming on the form they ask you to fill out, but clearly do not read. When I returned three hours later, I noticed the cat reeked of a strong perfumed odor, and to my horror, she was bleeding from just about every nail (and continued for 5-6 hours.) Whoever groomed her was either high or visually impaired. Albert then told me the cat couldn't be vaccinated or dewormed because she might be pregnant. Despite not being a vet, he declared her "healthy enough" to be around my indoor cat - this, after butchering her nails, making it impossible for me to release her back outside, as she could no longer defend herself. The final blow was the $100 bill. Where was the low-cost grooming service advertised outside his door? Why didn't Albert call me when he realized the cat might be pregnant, especially knowing that I would have asked him to stop? It's clear he chose profit over professionalism and common sense. I regret trusting him, and I can't recommend his services to anyone. and for the record, the stray was NOT safe to be around my cat, as per a real qualified vet. read more

All of the other reviews are so scary!!! But my senior chizer Jimmi and I have been pleased with service here. My first visit was to ask about grooming prices and the owner gave me various bags of food for my dog to sample. I returned to have my dog washed and nails trimmed. Jimmi is usually afraid and runs away at grooming spots, but he went right on to be groomed! And when I returned to pick him up, he was happy to see me but happy with the experience also. After a bad experience he will typically jump up on me and try and get me to take him away. After his bath here, he continued to sniff around and ignored me after his initial greeting. That kind of advice is not just outdated, it's misinformed. Our dogs are eating dead food and we wonder why they suffer from allergies, cancer, and short like spans. If you're curious, I highly recommend reading The Forever Dog by Rodney Habib and Dr. Karen Becker. But what turned me off completely was the lack of transparency and questionable sales tactics. I asked for a flea treatment, and without discussion, he placed a single pouch labeled "not for retail", clearly taken from a 4-pack of Advantage. He threw it into the bag so fast I didn't realize until I got home. He also sold me a flea spray that retails for around $15.99 online. I was distracted at checkout (he talks a lot), and I left without checking my receipt. Later, I saw that I had been charged $64! For just that single flea treatment and the spray. For reference, a full 4-pack of that flea treatment usually costs around $50 retail. That markup is ridiculous. Be wary of places that operate like this: lots of talk, lots of "trust me," and very little transparency. Dishonesty is a deal breaker for me. I really wanted to like this place, I came in with good intentions,but sadly, I won't be back. There are better, more honest pet suppliers out there. read more

If you have to buy any food for your animals, treats, etc., check the expiration date. We bought a pour-over gravy for our dog and she threw up after eating it. I checked the box and it was expired by a year. Recently, we came in for calming treats because of the 4th of July, and only when I got home I noticed it was expired by 3 years! He shames you into spending more money, we've tried coming back to support small businesses but he is not ethical. He does not care about your animals. read more

Took my Pom here yesterday for the first time and the reviews about the lectures and jokes are true but I don't feel it comes from a bad place. My puppy looked very handsome and smelled so good! Got some free food samples, but it was pricey! My 6lb Pom had a sanitary groom with flea drops, a collar, harness and leash and my total was $194. Please beware, I took my dog in for a wash and nail clip. He had been here a few times. But this time when I got a call to pick him up, he said my dog was having a seizure. He was only 5 years old. I raced down to the shop, but when I got there, my dog was dead. My dog had never had a seizure before, so now I have guilt that I should have never taken him there. Not sure what practices they use in the grooming room, but looking at these other reviews, I really wonder how this shop operates. The owner didn't show much remorse, his only concern was me getting my dead dog out so it didn't interup his business. I have taken my cats for their nail clippings, purchased Fromm food products, cat litter, litter pans, anti-hairball medication, cat wipes, Lysine, and pet ointment from here. But I also think my cats caught fleas during their nail clippings here. While I have had some okay experiences, I'm writing about a very negative experience I had in mid-May. First of all, while Alberto might be nice to other customers, he always raised his voice and was very condescending to me -- for no reason. I came to this realization when I saw him interact with other customers in front of me. I find this disturbing. The last straw for me (and the last time I plan to step foot in the store was May), I was buying litter, and Alberto recommended a particular brand --but took his time bringing out the litter in the back so I waited for it. When I was finally returning to car with the litter, the city's parking enforcement was taking a picture of my car -- no ticket yet. Another van had been blocking the no parking/street sweeping sign. I got a $70 ticket even though I was only there for 5-10mins (A huge fine as I was underemployed at the time)!!! There was no other parking available that day. Alberto PROMISES me that it happens all the time and the city will void my ticket if I show my receipt to the city. I got to the city immediately, and go 2 other times. The City of Long Beach's corrupt Parking Department forced to pay the $70, threatened to bill me with $125 while I was contesting the ticket. I paid and appealed and provided the receipt, and the appeal got denied 5 months later. A lot of money and time wasted over being unfortunate enough to go to this pet store and parking for 5-10 mins on a street sweeping day. This store is close to my house but now I would rather drive 6 miles to Pet Pantry to get my pet supplies. I have no plans to return to Pet Partners. read more

I have never had my cat groomed or haircut and I wasn't sure what to expect but Alberto made the whole experience comfortable and it was clear how much he cares about animals. He took great care of her and even gave her some treats. Once I picked her up, he gave me info on specific cat needs regarding food and what I've been feeding my cats and even gave me 4-5 small bags of samples. I was a loyal customer until my cat was seriously injured while being groomed. My cat came in for routine grooming as she is a Persian. Noticed a dark spot on her side when I got home from picking her up, two days later is was a whole open wound. And it was big!! Took her back to the shop and Albert said it was a "hot spot" and nothing to do with the grooming. Had to take her to the vet, due to the size of the wound and I was nervous. Vet said it looked like a burn, Albert insisted no heat was used. I just took my cat to a new groomer and explained my horror story and she said clippers can get really hot if the blades aren't changed, so my educated guess is that's what happened. I ignored the negative reviews here and I wish I didn't. Proceed with caution!!!!!!!!! We took my girlfriend's cats to have their nails capped and were charged $40 each which I thought was a bit steep. We were told the caps should last about a month, give or take. Some of the caps came off a couple weeks later so I returned to have the missing ones replaced, happy to pay for the service This time I was told it was $65 for each cat. $130. For nail caps. I told him I wasn't comfortable paying that, least of all for nail caps that had to be replaced. He said he'd been doing business with my girlfriend for years and that she would be fine with that price. I texted her and she was shocked and also not comfortable with that price. When I showed him her text he began raising his voice at me and being impolite. Obviously we wont be doing business here anymore. read more

I've been coming to this place for years. My rabbit is groomed here, my kitten is groomed here. In the past any pet I've had I've taken here. I found a stray kitten, he was full of fleas. No other place would take him for cleaning. Not Petsmart. Not petco not any grooming place I called. They said he needed shots, he couldn't have fleas. Um, I need to get him cleaned because of the fleas people. Idk if he has shots, he is a stray. Vets said he was too young for his first series of shots. Pet partners took him in. Cleaned him up. The owner said, bring your baby in now. He gave me free kitten food samples, trusted me enough to take home some flea spray and come back to pay. This place , the owner and all of the staff is amazing. They love your babies as if they are theirs. Don't go to those other stores. But the store is open until 10pm. My old dog knows the place and can walk the few blocks to the store. He looks forward to the trips. Drop by. UPDATE: upon further inspection my big guy has a pretty decent scab on his neck from his groom there which was hidden by his bandana and they didn't clip his nails. :( This is my second time getting my dogs fully groomed here and they always do a good job. My dogs love nosing around the store through the wide variety of treats they offer. If I need to get a quick nail clip for the dogs, this is the BEST place- just 5 bucks and they're quick, walk-ins accepted for nail clip. We have been bringing both of our little dogs to Pet Partners since we moved to Long Beach in January 2024 for grooming. I guess I have been lucky with parking the times I have driven but it's just a few blocks from our house we usually just walk so they get their walks in too. Alberto recommended some dry dog food that he said was healthier than processed stuff. I actually just thought it was a sales pitch but I bought it anyway just out of gratitude that we found someone to groom for us because one of our dogs is a rescue poodle with some security issues. He always got "mud butt" and would not let us go anywhere near his butt to clean it or cut the hair. He was like two different dogs because he would viciously and relentlessly defend his butt. Well the dog food fixed the problem by firming up his stools so they would not stick to his fur. We are moving but I will probably make the drive because we have always had good experiences and the poodle does not seem to get too anxious when we bring him there like he did with other groomers. read more

When I first moved to Long Beach I was a bit overwhelmed with everything and finding a new spot to take my pups for their nail trimmings was looming over my head. I was out walking one day and found this little spot. Albert was so kinda and and the whole staff seems to really love animals in the most sincere way. Today when i stopped by again for their nail clippings I also got them their monthly flea medication. Albert was so kind to even administer the medication for me! This may seem like a small thing but to a single mamma of a 3 year old it meant a lot to have one less thing to do.
