Started taking my dog here for daycare early 2025 when the last daycare we went to kept increasing their day rates (not their fault with rising rent and inflation). The staff and owner here made me comfortable and sure with my decision. By the way the facility is ran, the cleanliness, attentiveness and patience they give each individual dog, friendliness of staff, and overall vibe is why they have such a loyal customer base. My wife used this dog hotel for her dog, Bixby a 2 year old Chinese Crested purebred powderpuff for a recent trip to Florida over Thanksgiving and a wedding. Yesterday she picked up Bixby after his ten night stay. She paid for the boarding ($600), grooming ($75) admin fee ($27.55) and a 15% tip for the sta for a total of $803.80. We have some serious issues with the services received. We asked that Bixby be given a haircut and bath during his stay. My wife was charged $75 for this which is comparable to what our regular groomer charges. However, Bixby did not get a hair cut, his nails cut or any grooming. So a $75 charge for a bath is not reasonable or acceptable. She left at the facility, for Bixby's food, some cut up boiled chicken and some dry food. She brought more to the kennel than he will need because his stay might be extended and we would not want him running out of his food. My wife also left explicit feeding instructions: 1/3-1/2 cup chicken and 1/2-3/4 up of dry food. She expected to be bringing home a good amount of both the chicken and dry food when picking him up from his stay. When she did pick him up NO chicken was returned. And as soon as we saw Bixby , we knew why. When she dropped him off, Bixby weighed 19 pounds which is the weight his vet determined appropriate. When she brought him home he weighed 23 pounds!! Four pounds gained during his ten day stay! His walker noticed the weight gain immediately. Also he had diarrhea as soon as he walked in my living room. We will need to make a vet appointment to discuss the weight gain and digestive issues. We will also need to book an appointment with his groomer for a hair cut. To say that we're entitled to an apology and a refund is an understatement. Certainly a refund of the grooming charge is warranted, and the need for us to make a vet appointment and deal with his health and getting his weight back to normal also calls for appropriate compensation. We have been a client of Pet Set for a long time and until now have recommended Pet Set to many friends. We are very disappointed and angry! To be honest, I've only ever used mobile groomers in the past because I'm overly protective of my dogs and never felt comfortable dropping them off somewhere. But this is the first place I've felt 100% comfortable leaving them. I'm officially converted -- and thrilled to finally have a trustworthy, fairly priced groomer I can stick with. From the moment I walked in, I could feel the difference. The staff was incredibly welcoming, the space was clean, and the setup is unlike any groomer I've ever been to. Instead of the typical tiny cages I've seen elsewhere, they actually have little rooms for the dogs -- with space to move around and water available. It felt safe, calm, and thoughtfully designed. I have THREE Huskies (yes, three -- and they're a handful), and the grooming team handled them beautifully. They came out looking fluffy, clean, and happy. That alone deserves five stars. My family came here years ago, my uncle built this place but 3x and it's a no. Appt Saturday, I called Monday asked for a call back and he got back to me this morning. After 20 minutes of damage control I offered to email and reiterate and document the conversation we had with pictures in hopes the images would help him to better explain. 3hrs no response I decided to see if he was still there and went to talk to Jose directly about lesions on my dogs belly and his nails cut to the NUB ( my vet is on maternity leave but still ok the prescription of gabba for it). He wasn't happy we came back to say the least, he came off so aggressively ( I'm glad I have a dash cam on my car) and tried to "help" me with getting my dog out of the car but I assured him I could walk my own dog in. As soon as we got inside to the chair I placed my things down to show him and he's already on one knee on the floor manhandling my dog by the skin on his neck so I go to put my hand in between and I said LET ME SHOW YOU because it was on his belly. Immediately he stands up like a diva and asked me to leave because I was aggressive and "pushed his hand away". I was a long time customer and I know for a fact they have gone through several cycles of owners, management and staff. The current owner Jose sees your pet as a dollar sign and nothing more. I've been taking my puppy Teddy to the Petset for 8 months now. He has stayed up to six days at the boarding suites. Teddy is a very high energy dog and loves to go there to play with other dogs. Staff is so helpful and friendly. I'm able to watch teddy during play time thru the doggy cams and can communicate with staff with any questions or concerns. I just picked up Teddy after 2 days Boarding. He got a bath and a sanitary groom. They do such a good job with the bath and the grooming. I'm so happy with the service and Teddy does too. I brought my dog here because I needed somewhere for him to stay during the day. I brought him in for the temperament test and began filling out the paperwork that they gave me. As I'm filling out the paperwork, an employee comes in to take my dog. I'm not told where they are taking him, for how long, and what they'll be doing. I begin to follow them, not wanting to leave my dogs side before I know what they're doing. Off the bat, horrible communication. Finally they told me that he would be taken to the back with all the other dogs, to see how he does around them. I'm able to watch him on the cameras, thankfully. Next day, I bring him and once I left, I checked the cameras occasionally. I noticed two incidents that didn't sit right with me, so I immediately called them to let them know what I had seen so they could check the footage. The manager wasn't there that day, so I had to wait a few days to hear back. I picked up my dog early and told the front desk again. They told me that things look more aggressive on camera than in person and that the dogs just play rough when I told them multiple times about the incident and it had nothing to do with two dogs playing together. The manager called me back, insisting that things look worse on camera and just repeating what the front desk told me. Then he says I don't think this is a good fit for you and I can't bring my dog back. Horrible customer service, horrible communication. Look at the other reviews. We had a terrible experience today with the PetSet Grooming. We recently moved to the Long Beach area so have been on a hunt for a local groomer and we were looking forward to bringing our pets here but after our first visit our older Maltipoo came home with a burned patch of skin around the eye. The hair on the side of his eye is completely gone and skin is swollen in the area, we will be taking him to the vet to insure his eye wasn't affected. What's even more disappointing is that they failed to notify us when picking up our pets, 0 mention of the incident and 0 effort to make it right. When my fiancé brought the pets home I immediately noticed something was wrong with our maltipoo and called to get more information. The receptionist answered and knew who I was right away and said she forgot to mention to us that they burned our dogs skin. I then spoke with the manager and he denied that our pet was ever burned he said they put water on the tear area and the hair simply fell off.... Pretty hard to believe and extremely disappointing that not only did they not take ownership for what happened but they failed to notify us and failed to make things right. No. This place smells so bad and it's hot inside, at least turn on a damn fan or the AC. I literally walked outside and back into my car to fill out some paperwork because it was so hot in there. I brought my dog for a nail trim and didn't like that they took her to the back. I could hear her cry and the girl at the front said that wasn't her. It was. There was a bunch of grooming tables in the front that could have been used instead of taking my dog to the back where all you can hear are various dogs barking. I told the staff I prefer if she wasn't back there due to not wanting her to have any sort of trauma from a bad experience. She is a puppy. I moved to LB about 6 years ago, and was looking for a place to take my two pups to the groomers. At first glance, their bold marketing outside their building caught my eye (i.e. #1 in LB, Best Place in Town, Highly Recommended, Best Reviews, etc, etc). And, I do most of my grocery shopping around that area, so it was convenient to go and drop them off as I was running errands. It wasn't until the pandemic hit (and during) where I started to notice that one of my pup's nails never got trimmed after a while. He is a dachshund and shih tzu mix, so naturally his nails grow long and fast. My other pup (pitbull and border collie mix), never got her ears cleaned properly nor her nails buffed. But somehow, they smelled really good (almost too good, like cologne/perfume good) and appeared to have been "bathed". Still remains a mystery to me. I clearly remember informing the person at the front desk over the phone and in person before their appointment to please have the groomer trim my dog's nails and buff them properly. He can be somewhat feisty at times, but I now go to another location and he doesn't have a problem at all. I think it comes down to how much your dog senses the groomer's energy (i.e. are they being gentle, loving, spoiling them) and whether a well-intentioned spa day is occurring in the first place. To top it off, their dog grooming services went up tremendously. I was paying 20% more for each pup, not including tip. Way too expensive for the poor quality and service. I've stopped going since, which is unfortunate. I am sure it's a great place for day care (as not many locations have open door space availability), but as for their grooming services, not so much. read more

I would give a no star rating if possible. I brought my dog here since my normal place was booked. I asked my sister to pick up my dog, and they had said that Sadi had a small nick to her ear. My sister said my dog was excited and she wasn't able to get a good look at it when she was there, but then got her in the car and it seemed pretty bad. I saw her cut, and ended up taking her to the vet. They placed her in a cone, and gave antibiotics, as well as an ointment for two weeks. I reached out to the Pet Set and they were willing to reimburse the vet bill. I did not appreciate that they lied about cutting her ear and tried to say it was a small nick. When I looked at reviews I saw that this is something that occurs frequently here. I will never bring my dog here again. read more

My poor Frenchie went to get groomed on Friday 8/9, I dropped him off at 12:37, picked him up at 2:20, walked out the door with him and he was gasping for air. His eyes were bulging, I quickly drove him to the EMERGENCY. While on our way I called Pet Set and spoke to staff to question them because Boba was in distress from his breathing like never before, she put me on hold, came back on phone and said they didn't notice anything. I let her know I am literally driving him to Emergency he's having trouble breathing. She apologized & said it's hot, and was little hotter than usual in their back room area?? How can they not have AC for those poor dogs? She asked me to please call back to update or provide feed back on what they can do better. The following day on Saturday 8/10 I called spoke to the same staff to let them know Boba had passed. He lost oxygen to the brain, started experiencing seizures and Bobas breathing incident turned fatal. Maybe had their groomers stopped what they were doing and contacted me ASAP Bobas incident would not have turned fatal. Did no one pay attention? So sad. I am completely devastated. A simple dog wash turned fatal. He was perfectly fine when I dropped him off. read more

I have been bringing my dog here for years. When he was a puppy he liked to play with the other dogs, but now he is happy just hanging with his human friends. He loves to follow the employees around the dog yard and check out their work. It's also so convenient having a daycare and groomer in the same location. I brought my dog here on and off about 6 years ago because my sister's dog always had a nice, cute cut. I stopped bringing my yorkie because his straight hair always looked butchered with no shape. My dog's groomer was booked and he was a mess from the rains. I brought him here hoping that things would've changed. Nope!!
