I can't say enough good things about the experience! Sissy was proving nearly impossible to potty train, but with David's guidance she finally started going outside consistently. He really jump-started her potty training and gave her the foundation she needed for better socialization, which was such a relief since she's a rescue and I had only had her for about a week and a half before the training started. David was so respectful of my home and went above and beyond to keep me comfortable while I was away. He sent daily text updates (often multiple times a day) with photos and videos, which reassured me that Sissy was doing fine and thriving. He was also extremely responsive via text, which gave me such peace of mind. Because Sissy was still scared of humans at the beginning, she wasn't ready to pick up all the commands like sit, stay, and come during the vacation package. But David didn't give up--he signed us up for follow-up obedience classes and even did a private session with me afterward. I've been meaning to share our experience with Lisa Cone for a while. I had decided not to share…read morebut I'm constantly seeing her recommended on the neighborhood Facebook page and our experience with her is still upsetting. Maybe she's changed because Ring cameras are readily available now....But here's my experience with her: We hired Lisa in 2014. She seemed like a great fit, very friendly. We signed the contract which said she would come by twice a day to feed and walk our dog. She seemed great with him so we felt comfortable. She sent us pictures of him the first night. A couple of days later she resent the same picture, which seemed odd. Upon our return a week later, we noticed our dog was down, sad, poop everywhere, and the dog food container looked untouched. We went to check the doggie poop bags and they still had the sticker on them, untouched. We had a camera system (in 2014 it wasn't that great) so we decided to look through it to see what she did. We only saw her stop by 2x out of the 6 days we were gone. We were heartbroken our dog was neglected. Our dog has since passed, but it still makes me sad when I see she is still in business and still being recommended by others in the neighborhood. This is why I decided to share now.

Last year we hired Prefurred to care for our senior German Shepherd/Lab mix. We met with a few companies and they definitely seemed like the best fit and our dog really seemed to like them. We started with dog walks to see how things would go and all seemed to work well! We received updates about our buddy and received tips and recommendations following their visits. Everything seemed great! Lisa and her team seemed very responsive and caring. After a positive experience with dog walking, we set up an overnight visit. At the time, that "package" included walks in the morning and evening, feeding, and someone would stay the night at our house. Unfortunately, that's where things went south. The first night, we received an update and images from Lisa regarding the stay. Everything seemed to be going well which set our mind at ease. Plus, as we knew and trusted Prefurred, it was just validation for what we had experienced thus far and that we made the right decision. The next day, I received a note from Lisa letting me know that she had a commitment in the afternoon and would feed our boy early, leave and return later, which was absolutely no problem for us. That evening I didn't hear from Lisa and didn't receive any updates. I didn't think anything of it. The next day, I returned in the afternoon to a happy dog and all seemed OK. After settling back in, I went to the backyard and noticed evidence that my dog had done his bathroom business in the back. And it appeared it happened several times. While this may seem normal, for our dog, it's not. He pees in the back but normally does nothing else, choosing to hold it until his walk. Typically, he only does more when we miss a walk or he's sick. I thought it was odd, but again, didn't think much of it. Later that evening I took my dog for a walk and he seemed much more energetic and was clearly eager to get out. During the walk he went to the bathroom about four times, far more than normal. He repeated this trend the next more (3 times). I'm thinking he might be sick and watched him. At that point there were a few signs that something wasn't normal but I didn't know exactly what it was. I figured maybe my boy was simply anxious with us being out and this was the result. I was giving Prefurred the benefit of the doubt. Later that evening, I was looking through my home alarm app (which I do regularly for updates, etc) and noticed something disturbing. Long and short of it, it appeared that Lisa and the Prefurred team didn't hold up their end of the bargain. I found logs that suggested that they didn't take my dog for a walk the entire time they were watching him (which explains the backyard). They didn't have a key to the back gate or detached garage and it appeared that when they arrived, they simply opened the back door to let the dog out. One can't get out of the backyard into the alley without a key. Further, on the second night, I noted that someone left early evening as was mentioned then didn't return until the next morning (at least two hours after we asked Prefurred to feed him) and again, didn't appear to walk my dog. I quickly reached out to Lisa to get to the bottom of it as we felt extremely disappointed and our trust was grossly violated. I sincerely wanted some sort of explanation that would help me understand what happened. The only response I received after some time was that she would drop off my key and asked for her extension cord back. She mentioned that she had a personal issue which explained why she was slow in returning the key, but no mention of what happened during the visit. No offer to return some of the money as we clearly didn't get what we paid for. Nothing more. I know there are several of my neighbors that work with Prefurred and love them. And I'm sure she is doing a great job for them, as she did for us initially. Maybe what happened during the overnight visit was an anomaly, who knows. Either way, we won't be going back and can't recommend them.
