In the last 35+ years, I have taken just about every dog I've shared my life with to socialization / obedience classes. I couldn't be happier with our experience at Karma Dog's puppy socialization classes. Here's what I have loved about it (and why I plan to continue with them for more advanced classes.)
* The trainers are amazing! All are warm, welcoming, and good-natured toward the pups as well as their parents. They make sure each person in the class gets some individual attention throughout the training hour, saving a little time at the end of every class to answer questions, even if they aren't related to that day's training task.
* Positive training methods ONLY. There's no yelling, no harsh corrections, nothing "mean" toward the dogs. I wouldn't have it any other way. My relationship with my dogs is sacred to me, and the good folks at Karma Dog clearly understand the value of kindness in training.
* I was able to bring my pup before her vaccines were completed. Due to the careful cleaning of the facility floor (Puss & Pooch store) as well as people's shoes prior to entry, it is safe for pups to attend even if they've not completed their vaccines. My vet was completely supportive of my attending classes with my pup at just 9 weeks old, stating that early socialization is very important.
* There is a path to progress. I appreciate that after graduating from puppy class inside the store I was able to go on to the basic obedience class held outside at a park with the same trainers. My intention is to then go to advanced classes and ultimately, therapy dog training.
* Their web site has A LOT of info on it, including a private area reserved for training clients with links to training videos, as well as helpful training documents that can be downloaded.
Mystic is off to an amazing start, thanks to what she and I have experienced and learned through our Karma Dog classes. I am so excited about continuing our training here. read more
