At that time, I felt so bad and worried he could injured himself if something happens! We live in cypress for 18 years to be exact and I have never came in here..... So while eating next door we decided to stop by FINALLY..... Truly not what I expected. The bird in the back seemed sad making crazy noises. (Feel bad for it) but hopefully doing good. Found food that is hard to find elsewhere. (For my cat) not a big selection but enough. Today we just ended up getting treats. This place is very run down looking lots of supplies that seem to be collecting dust and or faded with away time. I walked in and the man there jumped out of a chair hidden amongst the MESS and acted like I was going to take things, he insisted I told him what I was looking for, can't I just look?? A fantastic, small pet shop. They are super helpful when you ask questions and they have a great stock and inventory. Prices are better than Petco and Petsmart and you don't need to bring a coupon. Was looking for bird items and decided to go to Q pet, upon entering the cashier paid no attention to me and someone from the back greeted me, then disappeared, there's a cockatoo in a small cage, not too sure if wings were clipped or not due to me observing the cage other than that they look okay but quite sad and just in need of attention, there was a bunch of seeds and feathers on the items under the parakeet cage so i decided to get something for my dog. there was this pig ear products that looked okay, i picked up a snout and on the back it was covered in webs and dead spiders... like how bad does it need to get for it to be cleaned? there was webs on more than one and wasn't gonna keep checking either way, not to mention a spider nest on it. So. We dropped in here and checked it out. I got an impression that much of the inventory has been here a while as the packages had faded and they were not near direct sunlight. They have a cockatoo stuck inside a solid plexiglass cage and the poor bird was loosing its mind. There was a big portion in the back that was filled with rows and rows of homemade copies DVDS. Lots and lots. Sounded kinda crazy with the screeching bird,.. a couple older women in back yelling and talking loudly. It DOES have a unique variety of high end pet food available as well as terrarium products and fish supplies. It's a great option for getting stuff and supporting your local businesses. It's got plenty of parking inside that strip mall. Keep Fido happy and bring him/her home a new toy,.. cuz we all love our precious little fur babies! read more

So I still buy all my Bentley's food from this Japanese owned mom and pop shop! My Bentley is now 6.5 yrs old, so I've been coming here loyally for that long. What I appreciate the most is that if I buy a particular kind of food in a particular size, and the owner doesn't have it at the time.. he'll order more if he currently stocks/buys their brand. Since my last review my Bentley has developed a food allergy, so for the past couple years I've been testing foods by switching brands and ingredients. I've been through a lot of the foods they stock here. I used to feed Bentley Innova and Wellness, but that's no longer possible. For several months I had him on Acana. I did some research and discovered that they're a Canadian brand who also creates the brand Orijen. They're both great dog foods with no filler product, but the main difference is that Orijen has a higher protein content, whereas Acana has a little more fruits and vegetables. My Bentley is allergic to a lot of fruits, vegetables, all grains, and some protein. I found this out by sending in samples of my Bentley's current food and fecal matter to a third-party company that Q-pet recommends -- they do an allergy test and e-mail you the results a few weeks later. For more information on the allergy tests, just ask the owner of Q-pet. So for a short while I switched Bentley to Orijen, hoping that since it's more protein-based it'll help him out. Short answer, nope. Eventually, I got Bentley on Nature's Variety Instinct dry-kibble. It's a little more expensive than the other great brands that Q-pet carries, but the ingredients are very pure and simple which is best for my Bentley's allergies. His kibble is just lamb and peas which is fortified with necessary vitamins and minerals. So far, it's working great. In my honest opinion, these guys will beat-out any of the big named pet stores/pet supply stores (which will go unnamed, but you know which I'm talking about). And supporting small businesses is not only great.. it's necessary. I can get into the whole discussion about community and economics, but I won't. All I can tell you is that the prices here, the service/feedback here, and the brands of food/treats they carry are no comparison to that found at the big name stores. Q-pet cares enough about your pet's health to stock the good/healthy foods and provide them at competitive prices. Oh yeah, and they even carry cat food -- mostly the same brands as the dog food I just mentioned. I think they may also carry bird food, but I haven't really checked. They have a pet parrot who roams the shop freely.. he's quite the character and I enjoy been greeted (squawked at) every time I come in. I stopped giving the big brand stores my business 6.5 yrs ago.. and I won't stop going to Q-pet until they close their business, which I truly hope never happens. Pay them a visit -- then tell your friends and family. Buy some great quality dog/cat food.. you won't be disappointed especially when you start to notice a change in your pet's energy level and the smooth/shininess of their fur/coat. read more

I've had used this place only one time before I called on New Year's Eve, Sunday with a slight emergency, out of dog food. They carry "Taste of the Wild " which our dog has had since birth, (she is about 16 months old with an amazing, shining coat and she loves it! I recommend) I called about 3:30 pm and someone answered. He did in fact tell me he was closed, (I found out later the store is typically closed in Sunday) I told him I would just wait until tomorrow, he informed me it was a holiday and they would be closed then also, of course, it was New Years day! He then asked if I needed food, I told him yes and he had me come down after asking what I needed and confirming that he had it in stock. He made this house happy. I've been searching for a high quality dog food brand that would be the right fit for my two babies. Just as others have said, this is a family owned store and that's a plus. The reason I first started shopping here is because they stock the dog food I prefer, Canidae, in several varieties. It's quality food and my dog is very healthy. I moved nearby about four years ago and since then this is the ONLY store I go to for the Canidae brand dry food. I went in to get raw frozen food and they were very friendly. My little baby was out of food and I was happy to find a place near work that had the food she likes in stock. Once I got home and open the package to feed her I noticed the food had been frozen for way too long it had so much ice in it and the patties looked dried and old. I immediately looked at the expiration date and to my surprise the product had expired August 2016!! 16 months expired! They did take responsibility for it and apologized. I understand that sometimes it's hard to keep up with expectation dates but 16 months it's just irresponsible. So keep this in mind and check the dates. read more

OMG! they sell the best dog food available Orijen, and they have the senior formula for only $61 for a 29lb bag, unheard of!!!!!
