The store has so many unique pets. The staff are very nice and helpful. We always stop by to restock supplies for our turtles and lizards. The prices here are very reasonable. They have many pet toys and accessories as well. Just heads up that if you are not used to pet smells, you might get overwhelmed after 10-15 minutes. Came in with my two, very excited young kids to see some animals. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially Mario. He was exceptionally patient and knowledgeable, answering the barrage of questions thrown at him for the duration of our visit. You can tell this is an older establishment, but they have been serving the community since 1994 and I can't help but to give them props for encouraging RESPONSIBLE REPTILE OWNERSHIP. THEY WILL NOT SELL YOU TURTLES UNLESS SHOWN PROOF OF A PROPER SET UP. I know there are so many places out there that will do anything to make a quick buck, but in having this policy, you can see that they truly do care about the welfare of the animals and their futures. Huge props for that and I was happy to see it. They also had pre-built bioactive enclosures in varying sizes too and some reptiles I don't usually see at shops, such as their Chinese Water Dragon up close (not for sale though, shop pet) and HUGE Leachianus geckos (the shop's breeders). A nice variety of geckos too and they have spiders and feeders. You can also feed their aquatic turtles for $2 and take a look at their tortoise in shop. I'm happy it's not just a shop of only beardies and leopard geckos (though I love them too). Fun short stop to take a look at some cold blooded cuties. read more

They all had a good amount of food in each cage but the worms are left long enough to turn into black bugs. I'm sure they know how to care for their animals better than I do though. UPDATE: they were able to get my original review taken off, so let me edit it so it's appropriate so it doesn't get deleted and so people can see the vile abuse they subject their animals to. This place is disgusting. The enclosures are always filthy. Even after you watch an employee "clean" an enclosure, it's still filthy. Their turtles in their turtle pond are so over crowded and under cared for that they kill eachother. I've seen many headless turtles in that pond. They have a water monitor that is kept in an enclosure the same size as it. No lighting. No room to even turn around. When asked why they don't have at least a light inside I was told "because he keeps breaking it, so why keep putting new ones in there?" Excuse me, what?? Then there's the giant python in a tank that has no protection over the bulbs that has multiple burn marks all over its body. THIS IS ABUSE. I now drive 30 minutes to a different reptile store because I could no longer in good conscience support this filthy animal abusing establishment. read more

Today we visited Reptile Island and we loved seeing all of the amazing animals they had inside. When you enter there are lots of water turtles swimming in little pools that you can feed! There is also a 20 year old turtle in a big pin in the middle of the store. The animals for sale are kept in nice cages and the staff is always walking around answering questions. Definitely recommend for geckos, snakes and other supplies. read more

Honestly, this place is very small. It has a very strong smell, so if you can't stand, any sort of musky smell, I would not come in here. I remember there was a big tortoise in the middle of the store. There wasn't that many reptiles to look at, but there was a lot of display items for you to buy. I just took my baby here one day for her to just look at everything. It was a quick little five minute adventure to be honest. For me personally, I cannot stand the smell so, I wanted to leave. Also, I don't think they have AC, which I assume is because of all the reptiles and not turning on to that reason. read more

So I called ahead of time to ask about tortoises they possibly carried and the girl that was on the phone was helpful in listing them out for me (Box, Greek, Russian, Sulcata, Leopard) / inquired about some of the prices. I've been doing my research to see which tortoise I'd like to take home, and decided to visit the store to see them in person. They were out of the Hermann's so I chose the Russian Tortoise and they kindly allowed me to have them hold it for about a week. Pros: They carried a wide variety of reptiles from snakes, tortoises, lizards, etc. There were also lots of reptile enclosure equipment and feeders (water bowls, bark, tanks, aqua tank equipment, moss, reptile lighting, hides, bark, roaches, mealworms, etc.) The staff was helpful and kind. The prices for the reptiles are fair especially for the captives, which was exactly what I was looking for. Cons: There are a lot of products in such a small space. The register is at the back of the store and because there's a lot of stuff inside, you shouldn't expect to be greeted or seen by a staff right away. It felt a bit cramped and dark. I highly suggest deep cleaning, even though I understand there is a ton to maintain... All in all, I enjoyed my visit and actually came back a few times for other necessities. The staff was kind and helpful. I was surprised to see huge grown sulcata tortoises and the variety of reptiles and products they had. Just please deep clean and maybe rearrange some things so it's not so cramped for the sake of everyone and the reptiles. read more

I was looking to add a couple of hermit crabs to live with my other two crabs that I had. They were able to order me a paIr of crabs that arrived in about two weeks. These crabs were a lot bigger than expected, but they all seem to get along with each other. Staff is super friendly. Tons of cool creatures here and supplies to make them all happy. Even if your not buying it's fun to look around at their turtle pools. Located off Katella near Knott in a small plaza. Plenty of store front parking. Highly recommended for its big selection of pets & feeders as well as the friendly and helpful staff. Good reptile shops are hard to find - yes I'm mid aged and have been involved in exotic pets for a very long time, especially with my mom being a retired science teacher. Anyhow, I go out of my way to come to this place instead of the one which is closer to my house. I'm not sure why anyone would give it less than 4 or 5 stars. It's not going to be like Petco lol! I really like the tall guy who helps out when we have questions or need assistance. They are a pleasant staff and not pushy or conceited. It's a nice place. Good prices. The animals are not overcrowded and are well maintained. Hoping to get more pets there!! If you need hard to find feeding supplies this is definitely the place for you. read more

Came to this location because my local reptile shop has been out of small dubia roaches, which are needed for my juvenile dragon 1st. Called ahead, they let me know they did have some in stock so I took the 30min drive out to get them, got there, first impression, wow wide variety of reptiles, water turtles look happy, they have lots of wood logs and sticks for your reptiles, lots of enclosure accessories, feeding dishes, whatever you need for the enclosures. Walked in, wasn't greeted, no one asked if we needed help or if we knew what we were looking for, I assume they were too busy talking. Started walking around looking at all the reptiles, most of the enclosures are really dirty. I mean, you think you can take the reptile bark out of their water bowls and actually put water. Especially because the two employees there were just laughing it up talking. What's 5 minutes to do that? The glass on most of them lower was filthy. It's like that saying, don't bite off more then you can chew. If you have a huge variety you have to have the proper time to clean and care for the reptiles. I was thinking Okay whatever maybe it's been hard if they just re opened or something. Get to check out, was asking the guy simple questions and every response was with the attitude that I was an idiot for asking. Thanks. Asked the prices for the dubia roaches and he said 80 was his limit to sell, ok that's more then I needed but I'll take 80 in case my local store doesn't get them tomorrow. Got home fed my Bearded dragon he ate 21 roaches, second feed 18 roaches, next day feed 24 roaches, I have 8 roaches left means he shorted me 9 roaches. You think ok no big deal but it is when you're rude about selling them, you tell me 15 cents a piece or whatever for the 80, I don't even remember how much they were because I bought a couple more things. That's half of one of my feedings ‍ I honestly wouldn't come back here unless again my local spot is out of small for a couple of days. The up side to this place is the store pet, he's beautiful. He was more intriguing then the employees. He's the reason for the 2 stars or id give none. I recommend Reptile Factory. Never have I ever seen a dirty enclosure. Anyone who cares about their reptiles shouldn't come here. They don't even care. Customer service is terrible, they give you minimal details upon buying items and apparently their phones matter more to them than the customers. Never coming again. For example, when I had gotten there I walked up to the door a bit early, I didn't notice the sign at the window and when I tried to open the door the guy sitting there didn't even bother to tell me to look at the sign. He just looked up at me and back at his phone, which I though was pretty rude. Then when the doors opened I walked in and asked for a lamp for my turtle. Another worker was about to get a lamp for me and I had to ask him what size would be best for my turtle because I wasn't really sure about which lamp was best for my turtle. I didn't like my experience, I've been there before and never felt irritated like this coming into a reptile shop. Lost my damn business. read more

I was very excited to check out a reptile store by me, and I am really sad to say this was not the best. I saw a bearded dragon with thousands of bugs in its enclosure, even visibly walking all over his body. Animals were sitting in feces, had greens that were going bad in their enclosures and many looked sick. The chameleons were in sad conditions and some were sitting in ways indicating illness, and overall I just saw more unhealthy and unhappy reptiles than happy ones. I hate to give a bad review but Reptile Island needs to know that their store is sad, and they need to do better! I was so shocked that I didnt approach anyone when I was in there, but please clean your enclosures and do some research on the animals you are selling! read more

Wow! This was better than I expected. I've never been offered so many kisses!!!! I only went on to browse and found it to be entertaining. A good distraction to my day. Large to mini sized turtles, lizards and snakes. Lots of varieties of each species and they also sell tanks and supplies. Large to mini size blue worms, hissing cockroaches, and there are a bunch of large turtles! Not the best scent inside, but I'm not a reptile fan, and I don't frequently go to these types of stores. I come to this place for my reptile food , prices are decent and you just have to know the right time to go during the week as towards the end of the week they may not have the feeding items you want until next weeks restock. Since COVID you do have to wear a mask and you cant walk around and look at the animal like before there is also a maximum amount you can purchase or roaches, worms etc. Workers are knowledgeable regarding reptile care, any time we come in and have some questions regarding care of the animals they have been able to help us out anytime read more

The people here are really kind and really helpful BUT a lot of the animals are in dirty tanks or too small of tanks. I just think they have too many animals to the point where they have to make the tanks smaller to fit all the animals. I've been to other reptile stores where the animals were in decently sized tanks and they were clean and happy looking. A lot of the leopard geckos here looked really sad with little to no energy it kinda felt like I was in a petco or something. read more

Hands down, my favorite reptile store. Period. I've been coming here for years. The employees know what they are talking about, and they are super nice. The animals look happy and cared for. I bought my very first tarantula here a few years ago. I have purchased a couple other tarantulas from this location since then. I've never had problems with my purchases. They are happy and healthy pets that I adore. I also come here to purchase feeders for not only my tarantulas but for our pet snake. I would recommend this place to anyone who has existing reptiles and need a reliable place to get feeders. My dad and I have a 35 gallon frog tank and I also have a tiger salamander (separate tank). We were looking for a dumpy white's tree frog because we only had one and wanted to get her a boyfriend. So we stopped by here and we were so glad we did! Not only did they have an entire tank of dumpy frogs, but the overall store is awesome. The tanks and animals are well taken care of and I did not see anything that made me uneasy. So we bought a dumpy tree frog in hopes it would be a boy. The next day he croaked so we knew we got a boy and that was pretty cool. He is happy and healthy and loves his new friends. (I'll attach pictures.) We also bought dubia roaches and the frogs love them. We will definitely be back! read more
