Amazing service and food. Love the staff. Would absolutely recommend to people visiting or wanting a great meal

Overall really cool place. Very kitchy. Lots of vintage stuff, local books, that sort of thing. They actuly had a Barry Goldwater campaign sign up in a fairly prominent spot, which I thought was rather ballsy. My only real gripe here is I don't think they rinse their mixing cups and shake machine very well cuz my milkshake tasted a little stale. It looked like they were washing the mixing cups in a tiny sink that wasn't really meant to be a dish sink, but the building is very old and tiny and the owners seem pretty old too, so I'm sure they just have to make do. Honestly, most people probably don't even notice. So maybe just shave a hair off the score to 4.999 The girls working the counter were very nice and everything, overall this is a great little tourist trap that seems excited for you to learn about local stuff. read more

Wonderful service. Restaurant is in the middle of Wallace, Idaho's central business district. it is also attached to a bookstore and a clothing shop. They make great Reuben sandwiches. It feels like a taste of urban life in the midst of rural Shoshone County. read more

This is a great place for dinner, but I was not impressed with their coffee service. I ordered a simple 20oz iced Americano, and asked how many shots is in it to make sure it would have flavor. Barista explained everything gets 2 shots. It's obvious they don't understand that with larger sizes more espresso is needed. I asked for 4 shots which is standard at any other place I've ordered a 20-24oz iced coffee in ID. She charged me 1.50 for each extra shot. I've never paid $7.50 for an iced Americano til now! Wow!! I won't be back for coffee. read more

Went here for lunch and ordered the croque madame. It was perfection!!! I will definitely be back to try other things on the menu but for me this will be hard to beat. read more

Excellent food and top notch service. They served us in bookshop so our dog could be with us. Hidden gem.

We love eating at the Blackboard Cafe in Wallace. The food is next level and consistently delicious. They have a low turnover with staff which speaks highly of their ownership and management. It's such a unique experience with the attached bookstore and clothing store. The restaurant and connecting stores are always clean and well staffed. Highly recommend! read more

Bistro style meets hometown charm. Luanne delivered service beyond reproach while the place grew louder with the joyful chatter of a full restaurant. I would be remiss if I didn't mention that the kind and fun hostess went above and beyond to keep us posted about the wait time. Local brew and Chianti, were promptly delivered to our table while the visibly busy kitchen prepared our scrumptious Marsala and Piccata~the accompanying Fall and Cesar salads were exceptional. Eat here! read more

This place is a great find! If you're driving to/from Glacier from Spokane, as we were, Wallace, ID was the perfect stop. We wish we had more time to explore. Seated immediately, served quickly and everyone loved everything. Quoting from my family, "This is probably the best burger I've ever eaten", "This is the best Caesar I've ever eaten", "The Brie and Berry grilled cheese is AMAZING!" I had the steak salad and as a major carnivore, there was LOTS of steak! Great combos in that salad! Don't sleep on this place. Epic! read more

This is a great place to eat and visit get a great feeling of the coffee milkshake right the shops around here. Thank you.

A truly amazing place! We are here while our kids were skiing on lookout pass. We were looking for breakfast but found out since there is a worker shortage they stopped serving breakfast. The waitress said she could cook a few things up and it was awesome. I had a very good breakfast sandwich and my wife had eggs and potatoes. But were awesome. My son had a sandwich and 3 cups and one bowl of French onion soup. B he would have eaten more of I allowed it. Really great food and you can tell the chef is fantastic. Atmosphere was great and service was outstanding. This place has a bookstore, great store and coffee shop. Can't wait to come back. read more

This restaurant is a true gem in the quaint town of Wallace. My family and I enjoyed sitting at the bar for lunch and all of us devoured our meals! I have celiac disease and was able to enjoy a delicious chicken salad. My husband said the Mesquite Turkey was the best sandwich he's ever had. Also want to add that the vibes are great here. Every staff member just seemed truly joyful and at ease. The chef (not sure his name but had a killer stache) was so calm and kind of mesmerizing to watch in his element. I appreciated the whole aesthetic! Views from the windows and vintage plates... just a great atmosphere overall. Can't recommend this place enough! read more

AVERAGE RATING: My first visit. The female cashier acted bothered by questions or recommendations. No greeting. No smile. As a person of color I thought it might be me, but she acted that way to everyone. Food was average. Prime rib sandwich and Turkey sandwich. Don't think I would go back. Cool little town but I would try another food establishment. read more

Food was amazing, the chef's are will be talked about throughout the state & beyond. They're that good..Sit @ the bar overlooking the chef's cooking for the whole experience . Cheers read more

Oh my! You don't expect to stop for lunch in a small Idaho town and get big town culinary execution. These guys are serious about the quality of everything on the menu. We had lobster dip, Italian sub with a side Caesar, and a croque madame. Each was the best I have had anywhere. The Italian sub looked like it was made in Italy. Don't miss an opportunity to see what seeking excellence looks and tastes like. read more

The service was very friendly, and the food was excellent. I've been in a few mining towns including tombstone, Arizona, but this particular mining town can hold its own with the best of them. The ambience made you feel like you were in the Wild West. read more

This lil gem is in downtown Wallace... in an older building filled with charm. Bookstore, coffee, deli and an amazing restaurant all rolled into one. I read my fellow Yelper's reviews before we headed out for a day trip out to Wallace. What a treat! Huge menu for lunch, served 11-3 and dinner service starts at 5. We ordered a the Mesquite Turkey sandwich with a side of Caesar salad and the Reuben with fries. Both sandwiches served hot on a light hot ciabatta bread, that was simply delicious! Flavor in every bite. Service was great and very friendly. Definitely coming back for the dinner menu, which is made fresh every day! read more

What a great little place to dine in Wallace. The service and food was top notch! I had the Spaghetti Marinara, which does not sound exciting, but the sauce was delish!! Make a reservation as this place is popular. read more

My family and I are from Florida and while visiting family we stopped by the small town of Wallace for some lunch and stopped at the Blackboard Cafe. Everything was very reasonably priced. I had the Filet Mignon Sandwich. My wife had the Tomato Soup and Caprese Sandwich. Let me tell you, the sandwiches were phenomenal. The bread perfectly soft and crunchy. The whole sandwich just melted in your mouth. My other family members also had the Mesquite Turkey sandwich. The food was so good that as a family who talks a lot during eating, we were too busy enjoying the food that we didn't even talk to each other. 10/10 would just fly back over here just to have some lunch. read more

After biking the Hiawatha trail on a Tuesday we were dirty and hungry! They serve a great huckleberry shake and the sandwiches are made fresh! We ordered 2 without bread - so lettuce wrapped and they were very good! The yelp pics show burgers but on Monday and Tuesday (due to being short staffed) they only serve sandwiches, chips, coffees and shakes! This place is very cute, clean and worth the stop! It's also a mini book store! read more

Who knew Little Wallace ID would be so busy. We tried to have supper at the City Limits Brew Pub on a friend's recommendation, but the staff was in a frenzy... seemed really disorganized. I'm REALLY glad to be honest because we never would have stumbled into the Blackboard Cafe otherwise. It was pretty full, but the staff worked it out quickly. My wife ordered the Lobster Corn Dog which was lobster and cord in an Italian beer batter, very tasty. I ordered the Seafood Mac & Cheese. It was nothing short of AMAZING! Like no other Mac & Cheese I've ever tasted. The noodles where thin and wide like an egg noodle, but not... Pappardelle I think. The shrimp where good sized and the lobster plentiful. The sauce to die for! It was like a Parmigiano Reggiano, but with other cheeses... flavorful, creamy and so delicious. Good thing I saved the garlic bread for last because it was just what I needed to soak up every drop. The waitress who served us had been there for about 10 hours, but was as delightful as they come. She had her shiz together, we wanted for nothing. Highly recommended! read more

Food was mediocre. Service was terrible. They have too many tables to handle at once. Waited an hour and 15 minutes for a cheeseburger, a small salad and a grilled cheese sandwich. None of the microbrews are on tap. All canned. read more

Took 55 minutes to get a Caesar salad cup of soup and a French Dip. I saw the chef walking around the kitchen area picking food up and eating it and going back to what ever he was doing, it wasn't cooking. Server was very apologetic for delay. read more

Not happy with choices of meals for the Road Scholar group. All spaghetti with something of a sauce and no gluten-free option except what was offered were breakfast potatoes and meatball...and I had to ask again for at least some marinara sauce on it. Do you only cook spaghetti for groups? At least 6 meals went back to be heated since their spaghetti was not hot. The cauliflower and basil bisque was tasty but not hot! Caesar salad was a 3. Our waitress for all 20 of us was super human in trying to meet our needs... a 5 for her , 1 for whatever was not happening in the kitchen. Wallace students, go to culinary school and you could make it big in this historic town as a top notch chef and have people driving in for your meals! read more

Stopped here yesterday with my wife, mom and niece. I had the Croque Madame and my wife had the French Onion soup. The sandwich was perfect with the bechamel sauce and the fried egg. First-time patrons. The interior was very clean and modern but also with a lot of historical preservation. Our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable and respectful. The food was exceptionally good. I got the ribeye sandwich with garlic aoli. One of the best sandwiches I've ever had in my life. My girlfriend got a raspberry goat cheese and pine nut arugula salad which was equally delicious. Wallace has plenty of wonderful restaurants but this is one of our new favorites read more

We came here for dinner. The waiter was pleasant and attentive. I ordered the steak alfredo, it was delicious! The steak was tender and juicy. My husband ordered the fish and chips. We ended our meal with a few desserts they had at the counter which were delicious! read more

I wish I could offer a review or even a commentary on the food, but we sat there for 20 minutes without even so much as menus put in front of us. We made reservations earlier in the day for 7:00pm. We showed up early at 6:45 and were seated. That was the end of any type of correspondence from anyone on staff. It would have been one thing if they had at least made the effort to give us some water and menus to look at. I would have even settled for a quick "hi folks, welcome. We'll be with you shortly". We were completely and utterly ignored until we finally gave up at 7:05 and went to another restaurant in town where we were seated immediately with a smile, greeted, given menus and had our beverage orders taken. I would not recommend the Blackboard if you expect any kind of customer service or hospitality whatsoever, which is a shame as we had been told that the food is exceptional. I guess we'll never know. We'll never be back. read more

Kicked me and my four 80-year old grandparents out of the indoor seating area because we "weren't eating lunch," even though everyone ordered milkshakes. They did not need the seating; it was virtually empty and it was 2:30 in the afternoon. I would suggest they ask if the party is eating a meal before seating the party. If you plan to get a drink, a coffee, or ice cream, don't come here. You won't be welcome to stay. read more

After reading an article about this being one of the top 10 hidden gems to eat in the country we made it our first stop while in town. They close incredibly early and we're unwilling to seat us an hour before closing, but wouldn't come out and tell us. They chose rather to ignore us until we were forced to ask. We asked to order to go and after about 15 more minutes of deliberation, they agreed. We tried steak alfredo, spaghetti and meatballs, and lasagna. I don't think any were bad, but nothing was great. Mostly watered down tasteless sauces. The desert and milkshakes saved this place and garnered that 2nd star. We took out a couple milkshakes and a variety of their desserts and all of them were excellent. Anybody that rated this a top 10 in the country shouldn't be allowed to critique food anymore. read more

Delicious! What a gem in historic Wallace, definitely worth the stop off I-90. All of the Italian classics are offered and cooked in an open, modern kitchen where you can watch your meal be freshly prepared at the bar or choose a table and enjoy small town ambiance.
