Oh little Blackbird... What is there to say about you that has not already been said? I was reminded of this place on Yelp. I haven't been here since this was still the infamous Transit Lounge. No. The drinks are not cheap. My friend and I opted to get a bottle (or two) of wine. :) We got really lucky and snagged a booth as some people stumbled off into the next chapter of their Friday night. I love that the booth has a potted herb plant in it, which they replace with a bucket of ice if you order a bottle. Nice. We grabbed some board games and had a really fun night. I had dragged some friends here, inisisting that they would love it. And love it, they did. We played Connect 4 & Jenga and even had random people jump in. Fun times! I really wanted to play Battleship but didn't think that we would be able to hear each other over the music/ruckus. My suggestion: Get there early, get a booth and call dibs on some board games. You're in for a good time... Now, the bathrooms, like William O. mentioned, have MUCH improved. Yes William, the womens bathroom used to be just as appalling as you described the mens room to previously be. The patio does bring me sadness... Those bare gray walls... I miss the art. I understand that they had to cover the part that said "Transit Lounge" but man... It's really sad out there. I think a brighter color on the walls and opening the "bar" outside would improve the patio by quite a few notches. The outside "bar" was not open this past Friday night, if it ever opens at all. The sarcastic quotation marks may have raised a few eyebrows... I say outside "bar" because it's not a full size bar and it never really had great service to begin with. I would always go inside to get my drinks when it was Transit, and I'll continue to do so now, I guess. Went here for Labor Day, they had their 2-1 happy hour as usual and we had a great time. The bartender was personable, giving us ideas on where to go for dinner, and the patrons were friendly, talkative and humble-I can't wait to return. Board games fill a bookshelf near the bar, there is a pool table inside and bean bag toss outside. Drinks were strong and very unique. I picked a few off of the menu and was very pleased, then the last few drinks I had the bartender surprise me based on what she now knew I liked. Every drink was great. My boyfriend and I made a few friends which is surprising in Miami: to my delight there was no rude vibes from a single person whole day. Blackbird Ordinary is a gem. Oh - I almost forgot ! Towards the end of the night, we went out back to smoke a cigarette and my boyfriend left his phone inside. About 15 minutes after being outside, a bartender who has started his shift about an hour prior brought my boyfriends phone to us which we hadn't realized was missing. This is my second time coming to Blackbird and I really enjoyed both. The first was a farewell gathering for a colleague when I worked down the street in the Suntrust building. The buzz is hip and chill, definitely seems like a Wynwood/Midtown feel in the heart of Brickell. There's a mix of all types of people and plenty of space indoors and outdoors to converse and relax. This weekend I went for Noches de Cultura showcasing the traditional Bomba y Plena from Puerto Rico and I loved it! Parking was easy and they gave us the outdoor space to enjoy to the fullest. I really wanted to stay to enjoy the inside buzz but had an early morning the next day! Definitely will come back! :) read more

There are 2 rooms, the front/main bar with a few booths good for groups, and the large back room that has another bar and open space for dancing. Came here for the first time last night with a group of friends and I must say I really liked this place. There was a line to get in but it didn't take long for us to get inside, maybe 5 minutes tops and there is no cover charge. Once inside, it was packed. They have an inside and outside area. They also have board games that you can take and play at your table. I ordered the signature blackbird drink because my friends recommended it. It only cost $10 and it was really good. First time in this absolute garbage of a place and will never go back. Music was extremely generic and boring and drinks were subpar. Bartenders here will STEAL and SCAM you and I'm not the only one that experienced this based on the reviews I've seen on Google. I paid $20 for a drink and I paid in cash straight from the bank, however, they tried to claim that it was a fake bill. When asked to give back the said fake bill, they refused to give it to me at first but then gave me another bill that they CLEARLY SWITCHED. Before giving me the fake bill, they tried to get another payment out of me to replace the allegedly fake bill I gave. They tried to charge me twice by claiming a I gave a fake bill. They gave me back a crumpled and marked $20 bill as opposed to the clean and crisp bill I handed over. Not only that but the bartender did not provide receipts/proof of transaction. Management was called and they've made a big scene out of everything because they know they tried to scam but failed. Icing on the cake was how security was extremely racist and repeatedly said racist, derogatory words. Please don't come here, absolutely trash and sketchy. read more

Went on Ladies' Night on Tuesday and the wait for the line was soo long but it moved pretty quickly. The drink menu for the free drinks was limited and the drinks were small but the atmosphere and dancing and music was so worth it. The two separate areas really broke it up, but the place was packed!!! There is security everywhere so I felt safe. Not too hard to get a drink but you definitely have to work your way for a place at the bar. I'm glad I didn't wear heels but everyone else was! read more

If you enjoyed Soho Lounge, then Blackbird is the place to go! Interesting place, great backyard scenery. The inside is too confined for my taste and way too crowded. Warning if you arrive later than midnight be ready to wait in line for at least 45 mins to an hour. The music is awesome, from today's hits to our 80's, freestyle, hip hop all with a twist- a chill place to go and dance like if you were home alone. Dress code is whatever you want it to be, if you're in the mood for converse and jeans or high heels and a dress then so be it! That's what I love most about it. read more

I saw the artisanal lighbulbs and had low hopes for the evening, thinking it would only be salvaged by the fact that the dim lighting would obscure the sight of the skinny jeans-wearing hipsters. Boy was I WRONG! This is a frequent occurrence, but rarely is it so satisfying! We went with the primary goal of seeing Cat Shell perform. Ms. Shell did indeed belt out some amazing tunes on the stage in the back patio, but her mellifluous-ness was nearly overshadowed by the fine craft cocktails, the array of games and the bird-themed motif. When the band finished for the evening, the DJ took over and spun some favorites from the '80's and '90's. I was digging the vibe till I realized that '80's and '90's music to 20-somethings is probably like '70's music was to people like me at that age. This was my first time at black bird and I didn't know what to expect. This bar was PACKED on the Friday night I went, there's a few cushiony couches to sit on inside so that was nice. The patio isn't as packed, but being in Miami and all, it was incredibly hot. They do have fans placed around the patio that move back and forth to try and catch every angle, so that's nice. There's a few benches to sit on outside as well, and a little stage area with a big table and couches. I'm not sure if that area was exclusive or something... But there definitely wasn't a lot of people there. So I assume it was a reserved spot for those who want to have their own space. They have this wall filled with various plants called "the edible wall", which I admired. There's only two stalls in their women's restroom outside, beware haha. Its hard to stay inside or outside because it's much more spacious outside, but it's hot. And it's much more cooler Inside, but it's crowded. Anyway, if you're into old school music, then you'll LOVE this bar. I'm talking old as an OH MICKEY YOURE SO FINE YOURE SO FINE YOU BLOW MY MIND HEY MICKY! HEY, HEY MICKEY! Haha. I kid you not, they actually played that song! My friend told me they play "everything" but I think that mean "every old school song" lol. They played a few hip hop songs too ranging from Kanye to some booty music. their DJ is mostly old school rock based though. And songs like AINT NO MOUNTAIN HIIIIGH ENOUGH were also popular throughout the night. This bar is super jammin. If you're a classic rock, old school kinda kid, I think you'll be a ball here! The moment I walked in, I felt like I was entering a hipster bar in Brooklyn and it took me a few to realize I was still in Miami. The scene as I said has a hipster feel and it's uber casual. The drink menu was quite unique as well and they use the freshest ingredients which is why I gave this place a solid five star rating for the quality of the drinks (more so than the ambiance as I can find that in the east coast). My cocktail of choice ended up being the London Sparrow (Spring44 Gin, fresh lemon juice, passion fruit and a pinch of cayenne pepper stirred through crushed ice)...can we say, to-die-for. So refreshing, I think I must have killed this drink in two minutes tops. (Mind you, I'm not an alcoholic, there was just a lot of crushed ice). read more

She was the only bartender on duty and still delivered our drinks out to the patio. She was friendly, and that makes such a difference to an out-of-towner visiting a new part of Miami. Great for ladies night! It's kind of unassuming on the outside, but the inside gets packed. Even with a ton of people on ladies night, we were able to get our drinks pretty quickly. This place is a great spot on Tuesdays for ladies night. My favorite drink is their signature, the blackbird. Very sweet & can't even taste the alcohol, just how I like it. The last time I went was during winter break & it was hella packed & the line to enter wrapped around the building, getting a drink took forever so I suggest picking a bartender & tipping her generously so that the next couple of times she assists you faster. My wife and I recently moved to Brickell and have found Blackbird to be one of our favorite spots in Brickell. The staff is friendly and the drinks are reasonably priced. The music is a little older early on in the evening but tends to get younger around 10ish. One item to highlight is that on Thursday nights they have a media noche party where they hand out media noches and Cuban coffee at midnight. Would recommend for a night out with friends. read more

My best friend and husband took me out for Ladies night last Tuesday and I had a great time! I'm usually not into bars because I hate having to wave down bartenders, but I was left with no choice tonight! Ladies drink free till 1:30 AM (signature black bird drink, rum, whiskey, and vodka) I got there rather early around 10:30 and there was still space to walk around. I was able to really enjoy the venue and take in the nice details. They have an edible wall which is full of different plants and herbs. Also, there was a table with food set up outside for the munchies. It all smelled delicious, but I didn't get any. Music was popping, KC Chopz was djing that night and the music was perfect for ladies night. Lots of hits, and throwbacks. The staff was a little rude and uptight. Some guy with a flashlight got a snappy with my husband so to avoid issues we ended up leaving a little earlier than I would have liked to. Blackbird is just plain fun. Go for happy hour after work for their great 2 for 1 deal from 3-8 PM on weekdays. You'll get a token that's good for another drink at the same price. Use it in the moment OR stock up to use them during a wild Saturday night out when you're sick of paying for drinks. They also host some amazing bands (e.g., The Swayzees) from time to time. Their late night music is fantastic if you're a fan of 2000s hip-hop and pop's booty-shaking, hip-grinding hits. This is THE most fun place to be in Brickell on a Friday night at 2 AM, I dare someone to disagree with me. The energy is great and unpretentious (which can be hard to find in Brickell). I finally went to Blackbird Ordinary. Yes, I say finally, as it has been at least three years in the making. Well, the question then is: Was it worth it? My answer is maybe. Located in Brickell, Blackbird Ordinary is your typical themed cocktail bar. It seems going in that everything has a blackbird on it. The walls, the signs, even their signature cocktail is called the Blackbird. The theme aside, the place was packed when I went on Saturday night with my boyfriend. We showed up spontaneously, so we weren't the best dressed, but it didn't seem to matter. The place is a lot more casual than I envisioned. I was wearing a tank top and shorts and was just fine. I found a few women to be dressed the same way, with some opting for jeans rather than shorts. Boyfriend had a t-shirt and jeans on and was fine, too, although it seemed most men were wearing button-down/long-sleeved shirts. I have no idea why either. With how packed it was, it was extremely hot. We were dancing, too, so we worked up quite a sweat. Funny thing, too, this was in their indoor section. Apparently, they have an outdoor section, too, and while I expected to sweat there, I sweated more in the indoor section as everyone was there. Given the amount of people dancing and drinking, we opted to just dance and we had a lot of fun. The music was a bit blah at first, but then it picked up fortunately. Still, I cannot say much more. I had fun, yes, but I think we should have stayed longer. Possibly have gotten some cocktails. Until then, I cannot fully make up my mind on this place. Blackbird is a nice chill lounge/bar. I've always gone during weekends at night. The lighting is very low, they have booths to play board games, pool tables, and an outside area for you to mix and mingle with other people. Each time I've been here, the outside area has always been packed. They also have (white christmas) lights strung in the outside area that helps keep the mood chill. The crowd is a mixture, but I see more hipsters than anything and they also play a mixture of music to meet the diversity of the people it caters to. Came here on a Saturday night while roaming the Brickell neighborhood with friends and really enjoyed this local gem. From the outside, the place is unassuming--just an awning and a modest neon sign. However, once inside, it's much bigger than expected. The front half is more of a dimly lit, sit down bar with chill vibes, full bar at the center, cozy booths, board games, and a modest dj area. Step down into the back half and the space feels completely different. The floor level drops slightly, opening up to a larger dance area with much higher ceilings and outside views through skylights. An additional full bar flanks the left side and there's a stage at the center rear with a few picnic tables (with oversized jenga!) for limited seating, however, people are back here to dance. Live DJ was great and played a variety of music. Drink options were also good, my friends really enjoyed their signature Blackbird cocktail, and service was quick and helpful. Overall, the vibe was not overly pretentious and definitely a fun night out for casual drinks and dancing; certainly more of a local spot--which we really liked. the bouncers have a bad rep here as you can see from previous reviews. Had a great time originally with two dance floors with different music. But than I noticed one of the bouncers dancing near girls. But at the time I didn't know he was a bouncer. And I told him mine is taken. He said okay. Later him and his co worker kick me and my friend out because I happened to take a step back on stage and my foot landed on a table they placed near stage. Quite hilarious how serious these bouncers took their job just over that. And decided I was too drunk to stay. Great place. But be careful with the bouncers. Such a beautiful place. So in love with their herb garden that they use in their super scrumptious libations. If a drink has muddled berries, organic grown herbs and candied ginger I am there with a thirsty gaping mouth. Went early on a Friday night and it was so quaint and comfortable. It was not packed and quite enjoyable. While there were not a lot of smoking hot Chiquitas there were attractive people. It has a nice huge outside patio too. I tried going back at 1:00 AM and there was a line around the block to get in so I bailed. The only lines I enjoy do not involve people. Apparently this place is uber popular. I actually went back a third time that weekend at 2:00 AM on Saturday night and there was no line but the place was uncomfortably jam packed sardine style so I did not stay long. The DJ was superb, spinning a splendid mix from the past 3 decades and had the place absolutely bumping. I love the music, the creative and delicious drinks and the layout but am only interested in visiting at off hour times. This is a cool hang out spot. I'd recommend valet parking...$10 isn't that bad. When you walk in, there's a nice sized bar. Seating booths surround the inside. There is a pretty neat outdoor area with a smaller sized bar. I wasn't a big fan of the drinks...but I may be the only one. Again, It's a great place to mingle or catch up with friends.
