Awesome location just 2 minutes from my house. Apparently this big building used to be double 8 foods corporate office, brewery is in back of building, south end. This is a Nano brewery with limited quantities of house made beer. After trying all 4 variations of the Gose, I de cided on a Necron from 3 Floyds. They play music off a record player here. One of the owners/managers seemed surprised by the popularity of the place. It's freaking awesome having a laid back brewery so near home and wait until you here this... an authentic Cuban restaurant right next door with reasonably priced appetizers like plantains and empanadas. Black Circle is a little off the beaten path but, it is a fantastic diamond in the rough. I have been to Black Circle a few times for a beer or two. Each time, the bartenders have been fantastic at explaining each beer and is a curator of flavor. They have tasty collaborations with other breweries in town, which spurs creativity between the two brewers. I have gotten the Cuban food once and it was delicious and a wonderful pairing with the delicious beer. They have a variety of events most weeks. Last week, I went to a poetry reading. The retro pinball machines and VHS collection make Black Circle a bit different than your typical Indy brewery. read more

It took me quite a while to check out Black Circle, but then when I finally did, I went three time in a month. The first time I went was to participate in a fundraiser on a Sunday afternoon. I grabbed a friend and headed over for a beer and some delicious Cuban cuisine. The next two times were on weekend nights when live music was happening on the stage and the place was packed. And I mean really packed. Black Circle has an impressive list of beers and ciders for every palette. While they brew their own, please be advised that they do not fill growlers. Also please note that they are open Wednesday through Sunday. They have a lovely patio area, which I can't wait to try if only spring would arrive. (Seriously, April snow??) read more

Two full walls are functioning garage doors which would be perfect to allow the summer air inside! This family-friendly brew pub boasts an out of this world Cuban menu, courtesy of their partnership with Elena Ruz Cuban Cuisine. The chicken empanadas are my go-to meal. We also often grab some mariquitas (thinly sliced, fried plantains) for the table to share. While your food is being prepared, grab one of their hand-crafted beers and play a few games of pinball. This music venue-craft brewery mashup is a much needed addition to not only the local brewery scene but the neighborhood. Just on the other side of the tracks from Keystone on 46th sits the old Double 8 warehouse building - a prime example of deco architecture. Parking around the back is ample and a walk-up ramp welcomes you to Black Circle. In their soft open phase, the owner sampled every single one of their house brews (will be selling pints + growlers in a few weeks) as well others they had on tap. A lemon gose? Be still my heart. Coffee porter and a Christmas-y blend with ginger and nutmeg also made me swoon. Extremely friendly crowd all around that makes you feel welcomed. Vinyl is spinning Kiss from behind the bar which is much appreciated. The bar seats a dozen or so plus tables for 16-20 more with a corner stage. Pinball + some other arcade games available for your entertainment. The building houses Elena Ruz's, a new Cuban joint with great food and mixed use office space. Again, love this place! Last week we came here for a drink and a snack, and to sit on the patio on a nice evening. I ordered the cherry gose since I was in the mood for a sour, and it was good! Definitely nice on a summer night. My boyfriend enjoyed his beer too, the Skeleton Key (coffee porter). We also ordered a trio of empanadas - elote, chicken, and chorizo & goat cheese. We also got an order of Miami fries. Everything was DELICIOUS. We ended up ordering a second round of empanadas (mainly to try the cookie dough one), and they were equally as good. My boyfriend plays in a metal band, and noticed they had signs up for local shows. We talked to our waiter and they ended up connecting to set something up in the future. Pretty unique place! I love the vibe. Lots of black colors with an industrial sort of retro 90's vibe. Come prepared to listen to classic rock records. They have a wide selection of in house beers and much more on tap. I had the Rye IPA and it was pretty tasty! They also serve some seriously delicious Cuban food courtesy the in house chef. I recommend the Medianoche Sliders. Word to the wise though, I came here to get some college schoolwork done but the wifi was a bit slow. Expect some spotty WiFi and slow loading times if you gotta use the internet. Overall this is a great place with alot of potential. This brewery is hidden right off of Keystone on the backside of a building. Downside is they don't have 10-12 beers of their creation but that leaves opening because they have other location on tap as well. Another positive is when you have those friends that won't drink craft beer this location has large chain beers in the cooler. The location has a stage so they do have live bands playing certain times and have some pinballs on site as well. You can order food at this location for stacks or meals. Overall a place to try out and see if it is your type of place. read more

Stopped in Black Circle Brewing last night because they've quietly earned a solid reputation as a good brewery. And I'm glad I did... I tried several beers and enjoyed all of them. I home brew occasionally and appreciate quality beer, and that's what you'll find here. My friend and I loved how friendly the staff was to us, and we luckily stopped in time to see live music. Great little place. The bar is creative with their promotions, for instance they have a pinball tournament coming up and drag queen bingo. They brew good beer but the only draw back is they only have beer, wine, and ciders. In our party was some people who didn't drink any of those so that was kind of a bummer. So I finally got around to coming here after driving by time and time again...and I'm so glad I did! I went on Veterans Day (observed) and the gave me my first beer on the house! If I remember correctly I had "Reaper", and it was great! Had about 6.1% ABV and was a smooth as the day was! I can't wait to return for more! The even have live music from time to time! I was pleasantly surprised with Black Circle Brewing. The only beer I tried was their NE Style IPA, the White Bronco. Delightful! They had several other rotating beers listed - so I'm eager to try more the next visit. As for the food, the menu offered Cuban eats and I opted for their Hialeah Bowl, which was a cup filled to the brim of coconut-cilantro rice, black beans, shredded mojo pork and tropical "Miami" salsa. Very tasty and VERY filling. I'd be more apt to give this place five stars if the outside of the building was a little less ... frightening and confusing. I enjoy the fact that this brewery is basically tucked away and it takes a little while to actually find it. Builds anticipation, ya know. But the abandoned building connected to it and not a lot of signage at first makes you think - "Does this place even exist?" Even so, it obviously DOES exist and once inside, you'll quickly find that it's a pretty awesome spot. They bring in live bands, which is great, and unfortunately no one was playing when we were there to visit. But it'd be worthwhile to check out a show sometime. read more

The owners and staff took the time to explain the entire menu to me in a detail that shows how much they care about their craft. Too often I've found talking to craft beer folks to be offputting. That couldn't be further from the case here. They made the esoteric nuance of beer accessible, and helped me make selections I was really happy about. This Brewing Company is one of the best in town. On Sunday nights they life a live, free, comedy show. I went to see it for the first time last night and was very impressed. They had several different speakers and they were all hilarious. I look forward to going to many more. They also have a nice menu with different things on the menu that you don't see at many places. What a great addition to the Arsenal Park area of SoBro. Thank you for revamping a neighborhood eyesore. It's unique but fits this area well. They play music on albums, mostly metal. I have never had a bad time here. The food selections are insane! The cuban flare pairs well w some of the beer choices they offer. If I am being real, I go to Black Circle more for the food and entertainment than the actual beer. Black Circle has built a scene for a lot of interesting people to stop in and be themselves. The bar is lined w pinball machines. The patio is shaded and a great place to enjoy your beverage. Check out the tv for some classic horror films.
