What a hidden gem! I came here for a private event hosted by my realtor and enjoyed berry picking, feeding animals, and a tractor ride of the farm. They had treats and sweets catered by the farm/cafe and it was absolutely delicious! The blackberries were the best quality - so much sweeter and fresher than if we got them at the grocery store, it was like a whole new experience. All the staff and family were so kind, you can tell this place exists because they truly love what they do and want to welcome people in. I wish more people knew about it! We held my daughter and son's joint birthday party inside the silo room at Driving Wind Farm. The farm also catered the lunch. The entire experience was a positive one - from the communication about planning the big day, the assistance in helping set up on the day of and the delicious food we ate (pulled pork YUM). The highlight of the party was the tractor pull ride around the farm. The adults even loved it as the tour contained very fascinating bits of civil war history. I had no idea how big the property was until this tour. There's a pond way out back! Had no idea. I would absolutely hold another event at Driving Wind Farm. Oh and I love stopping in for breakfast. Did you know that you can pick your own berries just minutes from downtown Indianapolis? Driving Wind Farm offers a selection of annuals and perennials, you-pick strawberries, blueberries and blackberries (when in season) and much more. There is a cafe on the grounds offering coffees, fresh pastries, soups, salads and sandwiches. The farm stand sells strawberries, local honey, jams and jellies and an assorted garden accessories. The place is pretty darn cute. I stopped by to pick up a quart of their fresh pre-picked strawberries. The staff at this family run business is super friendly. Upcoming events on the farm include a strawberry shortcake bash in mid June. The event includes opportunities to pet their farm animals. I can't wait to take the kids. We walked around the grounds and everything is super clean and organized. In the cafe, you can buy homemade popsicles made from fruit on the farm! What a special treat on a hot day! The strawberries were delicious with so much more flavor than you can find in the grocery stores. I can't wait to pick blueberries. There is plenty of parking but the in/on onto Michigan Road can get hairy. The staff said they get busy during events, so go early. read more

This is one of my kids' absolute favorite places. There are berries to pick, animals to see, snacks to see and a tractor to ride! It is not a huge farm but just right for little kids. The cafe is cute and has lots of great options including bakery items, lunch, coffee, and a popsicle/ice cream case. There is a party room that would be great for a baby shower or birthday. They often have special events like the strawberry shortcake festival when there are special food offerings and extra fun like bounce houses for the kids. Check out the schedule on social media. Blueberry picking is an annual tradition for us, and Driving Wind is absolutely perfect! My kids love picking blueberries because there are no thorns, and being able to pick blueberries in the netted garden makes the picking feel extra special and extra cozy. I do wish the cafe were better stocked with their excellent options. Dropping an update here to reiterate how much I love this place. We visited again this past weekend for blueberry and blackberry picking. The bushes were loadddeddd! And, if you're not in the mood for picking, you can always pop into their store to purchase already picked berries. The store also features a variety of jams, honey, etc. we also visited the cafe that offers breakfast and lunch options along with coffee. U appreciated that they had some books snd coloring pages for kids as well. Our berries were so good that we are returning this weekend to pick more. I had no idea this awesome farm was 20 minutes from my house! I took my blueberry obsessed toddler to do you-pick blueberries this morning and we had a blast. They'll give you a quart to fill for $9.99. My daughter basically ate her weight in berries while we picked so we didn't fill up the whole thing but we got a good amount and they're delicious! Normally, I'm all about this place but today my experience was less than expected. My hard labor picking berries in killer hot temps almost went to a stranger by an inexperienced employee who sold them and another employee had to go retrieve them at that person's car side. I cringe to think what would've happened if I didn't catch their error in time before the other person left with my berries. No apology either! The berries were being kept cold for me in the refrigerator, and apparently they don't have a system for knowing what they can sell as pre-picked to customers and what is being held for a customer currently picking another crop. I can only hope in the future they implement a labeling system so this can't happen again! read more

This is an urban farm located off of Michigan road. It's located not that far past the Michigan Road Public Library. They had blueberries as well as blackberries that you could pick right now. They had strawberries that weren't ready to pick yet. Being able to pick blueberries and blackberries from the plant is as fresh as it's going to get! They have a little store that sells locally made candles the triple pudding berry that was burning next to the register smelled great! Soaps, jams, salsas, local honey are available. Next to the store sell 4 Birds Bakery cookies quite a few varieties. They sell LICK popsicles, ice cream, drinks, and coming soon coffee! I saw in some of the pictures they sell pies and chicken pot pies. One of the workers said they're going to try to have pumpkins which they planted, apple cider, and fall things later on. Omg!!!! So real quick. I'm a truck driver and this was my first stop. Had never been here, but would ride past and see all the bushes of berries during harvest season. Anyway, my stomach was growling and I didn't pack anything light. I make the delivery and noticed a sign that said cafe. Just in time for me to grab something for the road. Francine, employee, informed me of the hot beverage selections and an assortment of pastries; just to name a few. I walked to the cafe and to my surprise, I never knew this little cafe even existed. It was warm and a delight. I couldn't decide on what I wanted to drink. I knew something warm, but it was hard trying to narrow down from their selection. They have a few selections catered to the holiday. I'll definitely be returning to try one. While checking out the menu and looking around, I noticed White Chicken Chili. That's all she wrote! I opted for a small and one of the best peanut butter cookies!! I came to say that the was the best darn WCC I've had!!!! It was creamy, but not overly creamy. It was packed with flavor. And the chicken was tender and plentiful throughout. You can see the herbs and seasonings. Had I known it was going to knock my socks off, I would have gotten a large. I've been to Driving Winds Berry Farm several times now and I've enjoyed each visit. The Berry Farm sits back off of Michigan Road with a big Open Flag by the entrance. Looking for fresh berries? Yes!! You pick or there's usually a few pints of pre-picked berries in the cooler located in the Garden Shop. The picking season runs April - October for Strawberries, Blueberries and Blackberries. You pick prices run $8.99 per quart and a little higher for those pre-picked. The berries are sweet, plump and beautiful with protective netting over the berries to protect against birds. The business and picking hours could vary depending on weather and berry availability. Driving Winds opens at 7:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, Saturday 9:00 - 2:00 p.m. and closed Sunday and Monday. You can also find perennial plants and shrubs as well as hanging baskets plus annuals planted in cute tin pots this past Spring. Fresh flowers are available for customers to cut for bouquets. The sunflowers were gorgeous during my last visit. Wagon Rides, Pumpkins and Mums will be available soon. The Garden Shop has great gift items with pie plates, local honey, jellies, jams, sauces, hand crafted soaps and candles, bath products and I'm a Berry Good Boy/Girl merchandise from infant to adult extra-large plus much more. The Cafe is the hidden gem here with patio or indoor seating. The menu offers excellent cinnamon rolls, brownies, muffins, lemon bread, daily lunch specials, hot or cold beverages from Lattes, Mochas, Espressos, Lemonade Shake-Ups, Root Beer Floats, Berry Filled Ice Cream Bars and Lick Ice Cream. My favorite is the Bruschetta Flights served on excellent bread where you can select 4 of the 6 flavors for $14 but only served on Saturday. The Pineapple Haberno Spread is my favorite with the Ricotta, Fig and Pistachio running a close second. All the staff are extremely friendly and very helpful. Parking is located in the grass area across from the Gift Shop and the small lane is gravel leading from Michigan Road to back of property where the blackberries are located so dress appropriately for weather conditions. read more

We really loved that this farm was in the City, but it felt like we traveled away. The cafe is wonderful, albeit a tad slow. The entire place is super cute and the prices are really nice as well. I'm not a picking pro, but I would say if traveling far away is not something you want to do, then look no further than Driving Wind! Very fun place! Not as cheap as grocery stores, but exceptionally high quality fruit fresh off the bushes. Also local honey, jams, snack bar, picnic area etc. Very helpful employees. Going forward this will be a regular stopping place for us. First time there it may be a little difficult to spot if the traffic is heavy on Michigan road. My sister and I visited for the first time today and are blown away by all they have to offer! We picked blackberries, strawberries, blueberries as well as enjoyed lunch at the cafe. The strawberries are in standing upright containers which makes for easy convenient picking. I loved the bacon, turkey, pesto sandwich and my sister enjoyed the chicken salad club. Great place for kids to as they have a couple horses, picnic areas and offer wagon rides on certain days. I hear they have plans for new fall festivities which I'm excited to take part in. It's no nice to have a place so close to the heart of the city providing a place to pick blueberries! I stopped on my way home from work and picked about 2 pounds in just under a half hour.. in 95 degree heat. Perhaps not such a great idea, but the blueberries were perfect ('cuz I picked 'em) and not a single one was bad. I hear no idea that this combo u pick and nursery was available so close to a Indy but I somehow got on the Facebook ads sharing it and followed them. Today I took my first trip there and I am very happy with my experience. I picked blackberries and strawberries. The blackberries were plentiful and huge. The strawberries are ending their season but I was still able to find some to pick. They also have blueberries in season. If you aren't someone who wants to pick their own they do have prepicked for a slight upcharge. They also have a small store with some different jams, etc and other local favorites like tulip tree and 3 birds. If you have kiddos they have a donkey and horse they can feed/pet. It looks like they will have some mums available for fall. I got a ton of blackberries today but will be back to grab more before the season is over. read more

I was SO happy to see that this you-pick farm opened early this year! The berries are amazing - seriously one of the best foods I've ever eaten in my life. MUCH better than any blueberry you'll find at any local grocery store. Picking is easy, much easier than other berries, such as strawberries. The owners are very sweet, explaining everything well, especially if it's your first time. Berries run just under $6 lb unless you but more than 2 lbs, where the price drops to around $4.50 lb. You can buy them for about $10 lb pre-picked. We filled half of a bucket, which was just over 2.5 lbs, for $12. You get your own row to pick from so you're not stumbling over other people. We were told the berries were ready to eat - they don't even need to be washed because the farm doesn't use sprays or any chemicals. There is also a little store full of fresh honey, pies, jams, adorable shirts, Lick creamery ice cream, etc. This place must be on your to do list this summer. Hurry in - they said the latest they'll still have berries is around the end of July. What a fun morning! We had the best experience with berry picking here! The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable, eager to answer any berry picking or baking question. They will point you in the direction of the good berries to pick for baking, eating, etc. my only complaint was it was a little more pricey than most U-pick places, but the berries were so good it's almost worth the extra bit of money! We can't stop snacking on them! They have a few fun activities around the orchard for kids too. There was a hayride, a shop with homemade ice cream, pop cycles, and pies, and much more to explore.
