The Vogue will always hold a special place in my heart. My first concert at this venue was a doozy for me: Aimee Mann! She was being her funny and skinny and calm self, playing some of her songs from her Lost in Space album, which, at this point, is like an appendage of my body in musical form. Her album is a part of me. The Vogue is a small venue, but not extremely so. There is balcony seating, and a bar in the balcony, but you need to pay extra for this area. General admission is downstairs, and it's standing-room only. I know on the website it says that a general admission ticket grants you access to the upstairs, but when I went up there, I was immediately told that the tables were for people who paid extra. I considered paying the extra however-much-it-costs so I could sit down, but I decided to thug it out and found a corner downstairs, on the side by the stairs, to post up. Even though I was standing to the side, I still had a great view! I've seen Aimee Mann in concert one other time (she played at Royce Hall in Los Angeles with Rufus Wainwright, a long time ago), but I had never been this close to her. It was an amazing experience. There's a big bar downstairs, and they were super quick to get me my plastic cup of Moscow mule. FYI: This is not the place to get wine! They have a couple of cans of wine, but nothing in a bottle. They mostly have beer and mixed drinks. Before the concert, I was looking at all of the photos lining the walls of the bands and musicians who have played at The Vogue. It's impressive! My friend and I came here for the Jesse McCartney concert and had a blast. The room is spacious but there are no seats at the lower level. It's all standing so you can feel like a can of sardines. They were offering upgrades to the second floor which we happily took. The upstairs is very spacious and has a bar so you don't have to go back downstairs into the crowd. I do like how there is a bar to sit your drinks at the railing so you can sit and have a more relaxed time. I will happily come back to the Vogue read more

Parking is your first hurdle and it's the easiest part. Then you get to security and that takes 2-3 business days to even get through. You approach the bar after finally getting in and see that their drink prices have payment plan options being so expensive. You finally get your drink after taking a 2nd mortgage out to pay for it and find that security has come to remind you that you can't stand there. You venture into the crowd and see shoulder to shoulder crowd space and decide if you should pay rent or buy one of their seats to enjoy the show. Coat check was quick. read more

I'm going up to a full 5 stars. Reading through my prior review from 7 years past, I can't help but think how much times have changed in terms of cost. My main gripe seems to have been $8-$10 drinks, lol. I've been back to Indy for a couple of shows since that 2017 gig, but this was my first time back to The Vogue (Dec, 2024) and that same price range now seems crazy cheap after another half decade in Nashville where similar venues here charge $12-18. Things were even cheaper this time, though with many $6 drink options. The venue itself remains stellar, perfect size for a great show without a bad view in the house. Good acoustics, friendly staff, clean restrooms. A lot of dining and drinking options within steps, an adequate coat check, everything you could need from a mid-size music venue. read more

The Vogue is a revamped movie theater space that now holds concerts, keeping the brightly lit marquee in place as a nod to the location's history. I recommend arriving by the time doors open for your event for the quickest bar service. My bartender was friendly and even was so nice as to add my canned mocktail to an iced cup with lime. Menu wise, my favorite part of the vogue is the expanse of the mocktail menu. As a sober gal, it's an extra level of comfort to have options to order that are right on the menu, so I don't have to worry about any accidental alc additions. The Vogue is a great venue for live music. I enjoy smaller music venues like this. Even if you're further away from the stage, you're really not that far. It can get pretty packed, but that's no different than similar venues. We've seen a variety of bands and been to different events here. We most recently went to see The Warning, but we've also seen Irish bands. We've even attended a tequila tasting. The staff is friendly. The bartenders serve up drinks as fast as they can. There's more than one bar, which is convenient. Shows are always reasonably priced, and drinks are what you'd pay anywhere else you'd see a concert. Waiting outside in line for concerts might be the worst part. If you want to be up close to a band or performer, you have to get there early to be at the front of the line. So, you might be standing in line a while. But once the line starts moving, you get in pretty quickly. I always enjoy going to The Vogue and think it's a great place for a show! read more

This is a really cool place to see a concert! I came in from out of town to visit some friends and see Metric (amazing!). Our dinner before the show unfortunately took forever and we didn't get in as early as we were hoping to. If the theater was designed a little better and was more optimized for viewing it would've been a better experience. We had to resort to being right next to the wheelchair ramp, and still packed in like sardines. It's a little scary being so packed, especially with only to ingress/egress points flanking the bar. People would try to come in and out from the ramp to almost no avail. The atmosphere is really cool though, and it's a very well-preserved place. The marquee outside is awesome. read more

Wanted to enjoy a show. After we got our first round, the bartender said I was cut off because I was swerving... I was actually looking around a pillar for my wife to come out of the bathroom while enjoying music. I explained this calmly to him. I asked a half hour later if I could have a beer for the concert about to start. I got a wrist band that said no. After I asked for a card or management info, he said I have nothing for you. Wouldn't even give me his name. I then took a picture of the bar tender and was escorted out.... GM Dave Stevens could not explain why I was removed.... Half of the security officers are amazing including Dustin and Robb. The other half need to be replaced. As well the GM This is not a review about how I could not have a beer. We came in town recently for a concert that happened to be at The Vogue. We had a great time here and I really loved the small space, as it made for a great spot during the show, no matter where you were. I'm assuming that most of their shows, like the one we came for, use the bottom space as standing GA. While there, the staff was offering $25 upgrades to the balcony, which gave you a seat, bar table, and an upstairs bar that was less crowded. Um, yes PLEASE! The venue is also right next door to a lot of different businesses, such as Hopcat right across the street. Plus a bus stop as soon as you walk outside! This is a great place to come see a show! This is my second review of the venue, which, after several recent visits in the last couple of years I find necessary. The venue sold to the Forty5 trio about a year before Pandemic shut-downs. And upon reopening, a lot of crappy changes had taken place. Sure, we have Rock the Ruins now and a new app for ticket purchases. But the cool part of what was The Vogue experience itself is largely gone. Even right before COVID hit, the venue policy for the bigger shows was to open the balcony to general seating. One could get there before or at "doors" and if among the first in to get seats along the edge of the balcony it, they were yours first-come, first-served at no additional cost. There were always the Reserved tables upstairs as well as downstairs. But often if tables weren't reserved, you could sit at the ones further away. Now you can't go upstairs at all without a wristband for their astronomical Premium seating, and no downstairs tables are available without also paying--as much as 6 times the admission on top of the ticket price itself. Is this what the new ownership meant by "upgrades" to the venue? Because there's been none other that I can see. It still smells like a pukey dive bar when you first walk in, until your nose adjusts to the stink. Tonight, though, some serious B.S. transpired the likes of which I've not seen. At a show with an 80's ska band--so an extremely chill audience with an avg age somewhere in their 50's--the bouncers got really aggressive. Anytime someone whipped out their phone to take a quick video clip to show their grandkids on FB, these jackals shined horrifically bright lights at the cameras and in doing so, in people's faces. They'd strobe them to get people's attention. It was confusing until people figured out what was happening, which took a while b/c... WTH... who bans people from taking 5-second videos on their phones these days?! If you didn't understand and comply right away, goons would get up in your face. It was obnoxious AF for anyone even remotely around them. And of course when most people pulled out their phones it was during all the best songs, which basically ruined the concert. I'm really loving the irony that Yelp's cover photo for this business right now is a shot of the act on stage through the "lens" of someone's smartphone screen. Shows have just been way too oversold/overcrowded lately. It's impossible to find a space to stand inside without getting elbowed by people or drinks spilled on you. Used to love coming to shows here, but when it's so crowded it's just not fun. People also stand on the stairs to the main floor and it would totally be a violation if the fire Marshall walked in. Feels like new management just wants to pack the house. Can we just charge more for tickets and make it a better experience for everyone? I recently came here for the first time for Jesse McCartney's concert. It was packed - extremely hot - everyone was struggling to see. My friend and I were initially up on the balcony standing, and then someone bought a table near us. A staff member came around and told us we couldn't be near that table anymore (we weren't using it) - but the girls at the table said we were fine and not in their way and were very nice. Then he went and got someone else that worked there and they made us move anyway. So then we go downstairs where it's even more packed, and we are literally touching the people next to us. Then another staff member started yelling at us to move again. He wanted us to go farther in, but there was literally nowhere to go. Positives - Jesse McCartney had a great show, the bartender lady was nice, and they did give out water. However I do not think I would return due to the size space and how awkward we felt continually getting yelled at. read more

My friend and I came for a concert that I was very much looking forward to. I spent over $85 on the tickets, and when we arrived, I bought drinks for the two of us, which amounted to $45. During the opening act, while we were standing on the side of the floor enjoying the music, we were suddenly grabbed by the arms and kicked out for "looking drunk." I explained to them that we legitimately only had drinks from the venue and were doing nothing wrong. They must've grabbed the wrong people because we did nothing but stand there and bob our heads, but they forcefully shoved us out the door. I am now down $150 because of this and truly don't know what to do. I've been to over 15 concerts in my life and have never had such a negative experience like this. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. read more

The Vogue is one of Indy's classic concert venues and is always a good time. My favorite part is the layout. The main level is super open with a bar in the middle, and then there's a second level balcony that you can check out any time throughout the show. I love that everyone can be walking around and that there's no assigned areas throughout. It's a fun free for all! Most recently we came to see MOKB's Battle of the Bands. It was a blast to witness so much local talent in one room and we can't wait to come back soon. Tickets are normally reasonably priced and the Vogue is located in an area with lots of restaurants and bars, so you can always hang out before a show starts. read more

This was not a wall to wall packed event but it definitely had a large turn out. So I came here for Aly & Aj but, the brummies, have surely won me over! This is my first time hearing their music and they're worth a listen! The crowd was jumping, hands were waving - the trumpet was a perfect touch and at the end of their set, someone threw freebies into the crowd. About 15 mins later, the ladies came out in cute, matching vest suits - Aly in Olive & AJ in like a tan! The ladies started with the song Pretty Places, from their recently released album and after switching guitars, they then performed Listen!!! and followed with Lost Cause - I didn't recognize a lot of the songs. They also performed some throwbacks like, Slow Dancing, Take Me and others but I was hoping for more of their mainstream hits - they did play Chemicals React (which is one of my faves) but after that I left b/c I was exhausted from my day! Aly nearly played every instrument at least once lol - it is very impressive!! Thank you Vogue for hosting the ladies! Living just down the road makes this venue our go-to spot for live music. We love have loved it for years now. It's got the dive bar vibes you want, with the musical diversity this city needs. I love that I go see GWAR on a Thursday and Aly and AJ on a Friday. The drinks are priced well, but honestly, I rarely buy anything. I may buy one, but hate leaving a good spot and having to plow through hoards of people to try to get it again. As an introverted music fan, that's tough for me. Luckily, I have an extroverted Partner who always finds a way to the front. Lucky me! I will say, though, I think they oversell some shows. I've been to a Sold Out show and moving an inch is just not possible. It's awesome that they pack the house, but the house is small. I went to a NOT Sold Out Show recently and actually felt like it was MORE packed. I'm sure it wasn't, but it's been iffy. The Bands are always solid and the night is always fun. I'm so happy to support the Vogue and keep my fav spot local! Again, I just love how multi-note this place is. Some venues are all country, or all metal, or all pop. I live 2 hours away and traveled to see a one hour set by an artist I love. After the driving, the ticket price, and parking garage price across the street that I was fully planning on spending. I get to the door and after one security woman checks my bag and says I'm good to go a man comes up and wants to check me all over again? weird. Thankfully the woman told him to let me go. I finally get inside and order ONE Tito's and redbull and was charged $25! An outrageous price for the kind of show it was. The only way to see the show was to either stand up (remember we paid extra to sit down) or watch it on the TV. This set up makes zero sense. The Vogue is a converted theatre that now offers music and drinks to a 21+ crowd. I was here on a Friday night to see Pink Droyd. It was moderately busy and hot. But the sound quality is great since it's a little venue. There is seating around the exterior walls and in a balcony that wraps around... come early for good seating... There are bars where you can get full service drinks for a decent price (rum and coke $6). The Vogue is located in Broad Ripple, which is a hipster-ish area with lots of local food choices. read more

My first time here was this past weekend. I have always seen the vogue when in broad ripple but never saw anyone there who I wanted to attend their show. You can preorder tickets or get them at the door. They have an ID check and security right outside. They check your tickets inside. The space is pretty open- from my understanding it was an old theatre turned music venue. There is a bar in the back middle and plenty of room in front of the stage. There is also a VIP balcony with seats. Giving it four stars because it was hard to find trash cans to throw drinks out so people were just throwing them on the ground. I have been here for several concerts and always had a good time, it's a clean space with good drinks floor and balcony seating. Never thought I would go here for a Trivia game, but when some friends invited me I couldn't pass it up. Hambones trivia is a popular trivia place around the city, I have played a few times before and loved the variety and the challenge of the questions. This time, the trivia was called the big show. You started at your table and played rounds of trivia against everyone in the audience. The top persons team got to go on stage at the vogue and compete in more rounds of trivia. One of my friends is incredibly smart so he beat out the whole audience so we got to go onstage and play trivia against 2 other teams. Not only did we have trivia questions but we also had different challenges to complete. We didn't win the jackpot, but we all walked away with 100 a piece. I've attending two events at the Vogue! My most recent event was the Battle of the Bands, where it was a community battle of local bands. It was a sold out event so it was quite packed! I will say the Vogue often sells out events so if you're interested in attending something I would buy your tickets right away. For most events there is mostly standing room but you can also purchase a few tables downstairs or upstairs. I love the upstairs option because you can get a better view and you aren't forced to stand the entire time. There's multiple bars in the venue as they are always pretty packed. I was surprised when I attended that they ran out of White Claw since seltzers are a pretty big trend right now. Drinks are priced pretty comparable to most music venues. The vogue is old but it provides such a fun vibe! You can get up close to the stage and be packed in with people or you can stand a little further back. It's in the heart of the Broad Ripple so it's surrounded by other bars and restaurants. As a heads up the venue does not have any food options so I'd suggest checking out some local food options prior to visiting! read more

The Vogue is a broad ripple staple at this point. It's located off of 62nd St. and College right off of the strip of Broad Ripple Village. I've visited here dozens of times over the years. When you arrive to the Vogue, parking is always the number one concern. There is some free limited parking spots behind the building however it's a bit of a maze. There is a $5 parking garage across the street and some free street parking if you are lucky. You just need to be careful for signs and tow away zones. It is a 21 and up club so you will need to show ID. The show I attended last night didn't require vaccine cards but I've attended shows here that do so I'd recommend taking it just in case. They do a short security check-in then let you in. The layout of the venue can be a bit confusing at first and it isn't very ADA accessible though they do provide ramps, if requested. There are restrooms to the left and right of the main entrance. The bar is on main floor in the middle of the room. Once you walk past the bar, there is the general admission floor in front of stage. They also offer VIP seating at tables and chairs on main and balcony floor. It is a smaller venue so you can expect a more intimate show. I've seen so many musicians and bands here, the experience has always been great. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because of experiences with drunken patrons and an occasional bad bartender in the past. read more

First review I have ever written. Simply to say this was the worst venue I have ever been to. The concert was WAY oversold. I have never been so squished and felt more unsafe. Eventually about four songs in I had to move to the back because I was being squished so badly. Once I made my way to the back through the walls of people, the only place to stand was next to a busy bar with bar staff coming and going constantly to the VIP section. No way this didn't break a fire code. There were at least three people overheating and being fanned. I understand they are trying to make money and the space is small but I would've bought drinks if I could move at all to get there and would've spent more than the $45 ticket I bought. read more

I love the Vogue. It's a great place to see live acts, bands, and for Latino Night! This weekend , I went to see Iration. It was great, despite the sound being a bit off. I was able to get into the venue right away. The space was full, but I was able to find a good spot to see iration. I did not purchase any drinks, but there's a good selection of beer and other alcoholic drinks. I noticed that their seating section was full and only available for VIP. I thought that was nice, but a bummer for my back was hurting from a slight strain. It made it hard to enjoy the show. Asides from that, this place is great! read more

this is a super fun addition to the concert scene in indy! they have a really wide space allowing for a wide choices of where you want to be for the show. they've brought in some really great groups and also have plenty of fun dance parties that are always fun! it is one of the largest general admission places so that can be overwhelming at times, but there's an upstairs to take a break if needed. i've always had a great time here! the only reason it's 4 and not 5 is i've had some of the rudest people at shoes here and no one has said or stopped them even when we were at barricade. that being said, the staff still is great!! i just wish there was some backup on the people who are too physical or too drunk read more

I usually have a blast seeing some great bands at The Vogue, but their New Years Eve celebration was exceptional. It was honestly the best NYE celebration I've experienced. We paid for the VIP ticket, which included unlimited drinks and access to the balcony, where you can get the best view of the stage. We also paid a little more to have a table. It was worth every penny. The server we had was upbeat and timely, and the drinks weren't watered down at all. The team did a great job decorating the place too-Balloons and pretty lights galore! I have been a disc jockey for a few events here. The staff is always nice! I mean always! Very attentive and perfectionist! I DJ'd Beyoncé vs Rihanna and another event that i cant quiet remember lol I was drinking and lit! Sound guy was great, the bartenders are awesome and make a killer long island, waitress came to us often asking if we needed anything, and that's appreciated especially when you are a dj or even just a patron of their events. I went for the PJ Morton concert only suggestion is saying that the doors open at 6 but left us out there until 7 or 8. We thought if we got there early we would have good seating but all the tables said reserve because they wanted to charge for VIP seating last minute in which it wasn't communicated while buying the tickets. read more

I was extremely disappointed when the marketed "The Tortured Poets Department Dance Party" was merely another eras night. The DJ was NOT a fan of Taylor Swift & therefore someone else should have been chosen. We didn't pay for our tickets to have an "eras" night -- we had one of those MONTHS ago. We wanted to dance to TTPD all night, instead they only played 11 songs - playing only one of those songs within the first two hours. They played about 10 more before switching back to different albums. Huge disappointment and everyone I was with agreed. We all left before midnight. Seriously such a let down. read more

Though I must admit, I put in my time on the dance floor at the Vogue in my twenties, even winning a Halloween costume contest there the first year I moved to Indy, it's just not my cup of tea these days. Not that I don't appreciate the history and love the balcony and openness of the place. The live shows are what keeps me coming. Most recently my experiences seeing Interpol, Queens of the Stone Age and The Hives (thanks to A-Squared Industries)! Other nights are just a college crew & steep drink prices. The upstairs wait staff has always been nice, but hard to get their attention, so plan on standing in line a while. read more
