This has long been one of my very favorite music venues in Indianapolis, as it was non-smoking before the ban went into effect across town. Tufty is a Zero Boys legend around town and friend to all. Radio Radio has a very reasonable door entry for top quality shows and a beautiful interior. There is always ample staff, led by Roni, serving quality drinks at a fair price, with Tufty is generally behind the sound board. One of the only places that you can step outside the back door for a smoke or chat with friends and run into one of the headlining acts. I've seen Jucifer, Shonan Knife, Local H, Meat Puppets and met Patrick Carney (of Black Keys) with his band Drummer and numerous local and regional acts here as well.

After moving back to Indianapolis, a friend of ours invited us to join him at Radio Radio for a Carbon Leaf concert. $10 - how could we pass on a $10 concert. I had never been to Radio Radio, and from the very beginning, I was impressed - and it just kept getting better. For starters, parking was a breeze. It is in historic fountain square and there was enough street parking that our cost to park was $0. When we walked in, it seemed like it was designed by someone who wanted to encourage people to gather and have fun. It was crowded (concert and all), but we found a corner spot that the entire group (8 of us in total) could sit, enjoy the concert and still have fun together. The bar is full service, but I stuck to the craft beer - they served up some fine Indiana made brews. My wife had wine and said they had a great selection. One thing I discovered while we were there - Radio Radio is closed on Sunday. But this concert was on a Sunday evening. Carbon Leaf had a tight schedule and could only play Indy on that day. Radio Radio opened just for the concert. They deal was - bar profit went to Radio Radio and all the concert ticket money went to the band. That is way cool - thank you Radio Radio!

Quite possibly the most beautiful bar in Indy...

For a long time, this was one of the only non-smoking bars in Indy, but now of course all of them are.

The Vogue - Aimee Mann on stage!

She was being her funny and skinny and calm self, playing some of her songs from her Lost in Space album, which, at this point, is like an appendage of my body in musical form. Her album is a part of me. The Vogue is a small venue, but not extremely so. There is balcony seating, and a bar in the balcony, but you need to pay extra for this area. General admission is downstairs, and it's standing-room only. I know on the website it says that a general admission ticket grants you access to the upstairs, but when I went up there, I was immediately told that the tables were for people who paid extra. I considered paying the extra however-much-it-costs so I could sit down, but I decided to thug it out and found a corner downstairs, on the side by the stairs, to post up. Even though I was standing to the side, I still had a great view! I've seen Aimee Mann in concert one other time (she played at Royce Hall in Los Angeles with Rufus Wainwright, a long time ago), but I had never been this close to her. It was an amazing experience. There's a big bar downstairs, and they were super quick to get me my plastic cup of Moscow mule. FYI: This is not the place to get wine! They have a couple of cans of wine, but nothing in a bottle. They mostly have beer and mixed drinks. Before the concert, I was looking at all of the photos lining the walls of the bands and musicians who have played at The Vogue. It's impressive! This music venue has a long history. Lots of people have played at this humble place in Broad Ripple, which is pretty cool.

It's all standing so you can feel like a can of sardines. They were offering upgrades to the second floor which we happily took. The upstairs is very spacious and has a bar so you don't have to go back downstairs into the crowd. I do like how there is a bar to sit your drinks at the railing so you can sit and have a more relaxed time. I will happily come back to the Vogue

The period atmosphere and ambience is absolutely intoxicating. This is a perfect starting place for pre-dinner cocktails, leading up to a fine dining experience at Saint Elmo's Steakhouse. The service was superb, friendly with plenty of recommendations on what to try. This venue gets my highest recommendation, and I very much look forward to a return visit, and hopefully to introduce some of my closest friends to this incredible experience.

I paid the $8 to upgrade the mac to lobster mac...so delicious & so worth it (the upgrade was so unnecessary but so necessary, iykyk!). I also love that they allow you to mix & match on the sliders (filet, fried shrimp, or wagyu beef with Brie). I went with 1 filet and 1 wagyu beef, which was also perfect! Would love to try the fried shrimp at some point. The accompanying aiolis perfectly complemented the sliders! I completed my meal with a lemon drop martini. Service was friendly & attentive. Will definitely keep this spot in mind the next time I return to Indy & would highly recommend to others. In fact, I found it superior to my experience @ Harry & Izzy's--much more my vibe!

ONE OF MY NEW FAVORITES FOR AMERICAN FOOD NEAR MASS AVE…read more Union 50 came in clutch when my friends and I were looking for a last minute dinner reservation. Called at 6 and got a reservation for 8, for 5 of us on a Saturday night. This is kind of an anomaly for any restaurants off Mass Ave. We were seated right away and started with drinks and apps. We got "Disco Boys" and "I'm too pretty for this" cocktails which were tasty - kudos for the fun cocktail names. Calamari, Artisan, and Charcuterie came shortly after. There's a few different options of cheeses and meats, it's sort of a choose your own adventure situation. All were good, especially the calamari. A lot of restaurants tend to overcook it and the calamari gets rubbery, not the case here. Our entrees came out next and I made sure to try a bite of everyone's LOL. The standout of all the entrees was definitely the "Duck, duck" which was, obviously, duck. The runner up would definitely have to be the chicken cacciatore. Overall, really great ambiance, food, and service. I would highly recommend Union 50 if you're looking for something fancy, but not too fancy. If you're a Cunningham member, don't forget to give your phone # to the server to look up your account. Will definitely be back soon!

The staff was friendly, helpful with the menu and suggesting staff favorite as well as customer favorite options. The food is wonderful. We shared the petit charcuterie, lamb meatballs, kimchi meatloaf, and the duck duck. Everything was amazing, I don't think you can go wrong with what you choose. We finished off with the house made chocolates, which was just the right amount of sweetness to end a wonderful meal. Highly recommend!

I was so impressed by the dual setup between the main room and the Tiki Bar it adds such a sophisticated layer to the experience. It was quite the "place to be" when I arrived, and while there was a brief, fashionable wait for a table, the atmosphere is so captivating that I didn't mind at all. I opted for the Corrupted Blood Cocktail, and it was simply divine. Despite the lounge being bustling and busy, the staff remained incredibly quick and efficient. I'm completely obsessed with the decor; it's curated so perfectly and truly sets this place apart from anything else in the area. Not only was it a fun experience, it tasted good as well. I also ordered the whip feta for the table. It wasn't what I was expecting. It was sweet.
