A friend brought some of these pastries to me and oh my did they live up to the hype!! We tried the cinnamon rolls and a mini carrot cake croissant cube. We've been meaning to try this place for quite a while and they were sure worth the wait! The flavors and textures were unbelievable. I was happy to see the line was only about 20 people deep when we arrived. A lot of times it's completely out the door. They were very quick to move people through the line also. I was hoping these had a little more flavor than they did. They were kind of bland and dry tasting. The inside of the cinnamon roll was delightful the outside not so much. The boxes seem to have more filling than they did pastry. They get a five star on presentation. They've got that mastered. I would like to see a little more buttery soft flavor in the pastry. We came for the cube croissants, and left with so much more Black Box Bakery is a space theme bakery that have such unique pastries, and everything truly looked so good. The best part, it tasted even better. Since we came on a weekday, they had mini cubes instead of the regular sized ones and they have different flavors where they'll post on their IG story the day before and we were so excited to see apple pie. We wish we got their regular size, but it saved us more room for the other croissants we ordered. Everything was so flakey and the strawberry milk was to die for. You can tell when a bakery's good based on their almond croissants, and it was delicious!! Wish we got 2 of those haha. We were also able to try their Black Box Pastry mystery of the month which we think was black sesame. I've wanted to try this bakery for a long time and finally went there with a friend a couple days ago. We ordered an almond croissant and then asked the lady for recommendations. She recommended the Salted Brown Butter Mini Cube and the NYC. So we got those items also along with a chocolate chip cookie and a snickerdoodle. The almond croissant was good, but not the best I've had. (That honor goes to the almond croissant at Devil's Food Bakery). The NYC was mid in my opinion, however I'm not a fan of cream cheese on bagels, so maybe that had something to do with it. The mini cube was good, but I didn't go wild over it. But it's mainly croissant based pastries and they're so good. The croissant cubes are delicious. We ordered the honey lavender and strawberry elderflower and to my surprise, each layer was coated with the filling so you can share it with others and everyone would have filling in their shared piece. The cinnamon roll is also croissant based and it does taste extra special being made with croissant. Everything we ordered was delicious and so unique. Yeah. I can get the hype, haha. This place definitely has some unique pastries. If you like buttery flakey pastries, this is the place for you. The prices are more expensive, but it makes sense considering the size of the pastries and the fact that most, if not all of them are filled with something. I got the pistachio croissant, honey rose cruffin, and the hot honey sausage roll. All of them were super yummy, but know that too much at once is truly too much haha. Thankfully nothing is too sweet! This place doesn't really have an ambiance to it. It's more of a walk up, order, and take it somewhere else either around the food hall or somewhere outside of there. Service was kind, but my ticket got lost somewhere so the people behind me all got their orders before me. Thankfully, they were quick to ensure I got my order when I let them know. Only thing I have a complaint about is the coffee. I got the cold brew and honestly, I think it was the worst cold brew that I've ever had. It was super bitter and it overpowered the actual coffee. Just happened to find this amazing bakery while driving around Edgewater looking for something to do while my daughter was in a class. Boy did I get lucky!!! I walked into the public market building at 10:00 am, the only thing open was black box and that was enough. There wasn't a line at that time so I took my time ordering, I got a handful of pastries and a London fog tea. First off the banana cruffin made my knees weak, it was oozing cream. So delicious!! The ham and cheese croissant was also really good and buttery. My daughter got a cookie but it had too much salt on top for her palate. The service is fast, they all all very helpful and nice. The parking lot is a good size and I didn't have a hard time finding a spot and luckily in the front, but of course this was a little later in the morning, so I most likely beat the rush. The first was their sausage roll which I did enjoy but was a little bit more on the saltier side, but the croissant helped balance it out. I also had their raspberry croissant/ muffin, cruffin. And it was delightful. I thought it would be dry, but the croissant was of course delicious and flakey and filled with a thick raspberry flavored cream. They were flaky and crispy. The tomato breki was my favorite of them all. The tomatoes were different colors and had such good flavor, they were juicy. Amazing bakery with probably some of my favorite baked goods in Denver. The Rueben croissant was incredible, would definitely get that again. The pizza focaccia was thick and super flavorful. We also tried the blackberry thyme pastry, the sesame honey pastry, and the ube pastry. The blackberry thyme was good and not too sweet. The flavors were also pretty muted and not too strong. The honey sesame was so flaky and a good texture. It was surprisingly too salty for some bites. The ube pastry was delicious and I loved the pastry part. I'm not a big ube fan, but the flavor actually was muted and then the whole thing wasn't too sweet and the cream was a good texture as well. Located in a food hall, it has a neat ambience of seating and a carrier window. Coming on a Sunday morning before 10, There was a short line but we were able to get all that we wanted. The kimchi cheez it was also our favorite, savory and flaky but unique, never had anything like it.
