Amazing service! We were greeted right away with friendly smile and the store was adorable with lots of labubus for sale too. But we were here for some Vietnamese coffee and dessert after dim sum next door. The Vietnamese coffee was delicious and she can make it hot or iced. We tried 4 different desserts - lychee mousse, passion fruit mousse, basque cheesecake and tiramisu. The basque cheesecake I had was so good! The lychee was a little lacking in flavor, the passion fruit was delicious and so was the tiramisu. Everything was not too sweet and tasted fresh! The coffee had milk but it didn't upset my lactose sensitive tummy. Definitely come check out their desserts! All so tasty! read more

not the best and not the worst. the name is giving french so we were surprised (but thrilled) to walk into a mainly asian-inspired shop. service was fine. nice enough but very slow and not excited to talk to you. they have a ton of food options so maybe we need to give it another shot. raspberry truffle - flavor was good but I'm not certain what was inside. it was a layer of clear goop and then a layer of pinkish white raspberry filling. tiramisu - simple, decent, no complaints. mango mousse cake - flavor was good but didn't love the texture on this. it was grainy. ube cheesecake - this was fantastic and definitely the highlight! my friends were not a fan of the thai tea with boba. again, i think we need to give this place another try before writing it off because people really like it! i also love supporting small dessert shops so i'll be back. this time around it just wasn't for us. read more

Its always nice to stop by for some delicious dessert and strong Vietnamese coffee, iced! Cà phê sữa đá. Deliciously sweet and strong. It is a must stop while visiting stores nearby. Food: I tried Vietnamese coffee which is very intense & aromatic. La bubu jello is so adorable, not too sweet & delish. Coffee cake roll for $15! It is very yummy. Variety of unique Asian & French inspired bakeries. I want to try them all esp. durian cake. Service: Very nice, attentive small family owned business. I appreciate the creativity of offering a durian cake- one of the hallmarks of this location and I absolutely love supporting small businesses. The cake at six inches was decent but nothing exemplary for $50. That being said the service was a little off. I prepaid for my order and I think there was a little miscommunication between husband and wife on what had happened. I held my ground despite being told that I hadn't prepaid. Luckily they were able look through their system and confirm that I was indeed correct- but that was not without awkwardness. I'd give it another shot but it wasn't the best overall experience. The chocolate Swiss roll cake was fantastic! Lightly sweet, spongy, not overpowering with heavy icing. This is my kinda cake and chocolate is never my go to. I received this as a gift and now have to travel all the way into Denver to get another or try some of their other options. This cake got demolished by myself and my husband... we didn't even share when we had guests over lol read more

It has been awhile since last visited La Petite France Bakery near South Federal. Used to be a regular when it was on Arapahoe in South Denver. Still remember it being the only place where I could enjoy Asian style shortcakes in town before the emergence of all other Asian bakeries in the last year or two. Don't know whether they changed owners, but the store did look quite different, but surely more refreshing, since last year. They also had more drinks (yes, including boba drinks and fruit teas) and Vietnamese pastries. One thing that caught my attention was the durian cake. Heard it was the bestselling cake in the store, but not dared to try yet. La Petite France Bakery is right by Great Wall Supermarket and Super Star Asian Cuisine in the Alameda Square Shopping Center. read more

Stopped in here a couple weeks ago and was pretty disappointed. There weren't many items to choose from. I felt like I needed to get something since I was there, so I got a chocolate croissant. It took the woman legitimately ten minutes to warm it up- I have no idea what was happening but would have said no if I knew it was going to take so long. It was ok, but definitely not what you'd expect from a French bakery. There were many boxes and piles of stuff all over the place, and overall it didn't look super clean. I would definitely not come back here ever again! read more

3 star is the best I can give this place as the expression of my honest/frank feedback based on the experience I had with them last Sunday. It was after 4pm. Before I headed there, I did check their hours on Yelp. It was still within their operating time so I headed there wasting no time. When I got there though, the "Open" sign was turned off but I proceeded to enter the store anyway. A lady came behind the counter said, "Hi, what do you want?" I certainly didn't want to be greeted this way to be frank ("How may I assist you?" might be more courteous and polite??) The lady proceeded to tell me that the store was already closed (I didn't know why though.) True, the most of the stuff was gone and there were only a few to several items left in the glass showcase. She kindly went ahead and said she'd take me as the last customer, out of the very limited selection, I got the chocolate mousse cake and raspberry truffle. They did look good. Unfortunately, both of them were nothing but average when it came to the flavors and all that. Well, maybe I should go back and taste other stuff before I conclude that this place is not my cup of tea? I'd love to give it another try in a few months or so. read more

Croissants were delicious, I enjoyed the regular, the almond and the chocolate. I don't know if they were just baked, but the texture was perfect. The strawberry cake was alright, I was not a fan of the jelly layer. The tiramisu also tasted like tiramisu should taste. The customer service was excellent. read more

Pick up some dessert and a Duran cake for my dad. Call the day before they had it ready for me the next day. And the 3 of us finish the whole cake int less than 24 hrs which is a big deal in our house since we are not a big dessert family. I'm not originally from Denver, so for my birthday, I was craving those Asian-style cakes with the super soft sponge-like vanilla cake and fruits on top. I was so happy when I saw this bakery sold them! I called to order the Mixed Fruit special cake on a Monday to have ready that Thursday. Everything went smoothly when I picked it up, and the cake looked gorgeous. I couldn't help but cut myself a slice as soon as I got home. It tasted just as I remember it from my childhood in other authentic Chinese neighborhoods. Another bonus about this place is that it sells many different flavors of boba tea. I've gotten the milk tea boba twice already, and I'm very happy with the boba here. It's soft and boiled to the perfect consistency, in my opinion. I stopped by to see if they had durian cake and they had one already made! I purchased an 8in durian cake for $45. Totally worth every penny. The cake itself is so moist and the frosting is so nice, light, and airy. Each slice has a piece of durian in it. Highly recommend if you're a durian lover. read more

Being in Colorado, durian desserts are hard to come by and I understand- not everyone's cup of tea. But as a durian enthusiast, I welcome this bakery with open arms. From the moment you enter the store, you can smell the durian. The durian cake is the only thing I have ordered from here but it's so yummy. The whipped cream covering the cake is so creamy and soft but not overwhelming in sweetness. Everything is perfect about the durian cake. This is just a review on the famous sponge fruit cake. My family always comes here to pick one up for just about any occasion. We love the cake because it isn't too sweet and the cream isn't too heavy. You can choose from several different fruit options including strawberries, cantaloupe, and even durian! They always have a few actually available in case you need a quick go to cake. But highly recommend calling in advance so that can customize the cake for you and write a message. read more

Not at all what I expected! Totally disappointed after making the drive to check out a French Bakery. After making our way there, I wasn't going to leave without buying something so I got a few packages of their cookies (pistachio, shortbread and macaroons) to try out. All of their cookies tasted exactly the same & it's in a little bit of a questionable area with crappy roads. I am sad to report it's probably not what you're expecting either. read more

If durian is your love language, then come. The cakes are what I would Asian style cakes. Light, fluffy and not too sweet. The frosting was a whipped cream frosting. We got the durian cake and chocolate mousse cake. If you love durian, this cake was packed. The cake was a bit dryer, but it could've been because we got it at closing. YAY!!! La Petite France Bakery came to the rescue again! This time around, I was invited for Thanksgiving Dinner and to "surprise" my host, I ordered the SMALL DURIAN CAKE - 6" inch round cake ($24) from La Petite France Bakery. Added bonus, La Petite France Bakery is opened on THANKSGIVING DAY! DOUBLE SCORE!! This recent visit was on Thursday November 23rd 2017. Make your order like 2 or 3 days in advance. When ordering make sure you indicate your time to pick it up, your contact number and the size of the cake you want etc. Just make sure you arrived later at the time slot rather than earlier as I found out from the conversations I had with the staffs. Coz sometimes, your cake might not be ready etc. Another purchase I had was the Rugelach ($4). It was OK though it comes with 2 or 3 types of different flavors. All in all the DURIAN Cake was DEFINITELY A HIT for my host family. Her father and her husband liked it a lot. So now the secret is DEFINITELY OUT! Now located next door to Denver Pho, or in the Pacific Ocean Marketplace plaza lies La Petite France Bakery. I sadly agree that this bakery doesn't live up to the name as they don't have eclairs, macarons, etc. However, they do have tasty little cakes to choose from ranging from matcha cake, strawberry shortcake, mango mousse, fruit tarts, tiramisu, and so on. They also allow you to order actual cakes in advance for special occasions, which I have yet the pleasure to try. I've heard from word of mouth that the durian cake is delicious but not everyone agrees to and/or loves durian due to it's very strong odor. Although I love their mango mouse and tiramisu.. those are the ONLY things I love from La Petite. I've tried nearly everything they have to offer on display including swill rolls. None of them are overly sweet or sugary. Yet, they don't have a WOW factor that I'm desperately searching for in a bakery. Plus, I wish they would make more of a variety of sweets and pastries. It's always great to have regular items but it seems that everything is regular and nothing new to look forward to. read more

Stumbled on this place and it's ridiculously delicious. They offer single servings of different pastries like mousse cake, fruit tart, tiramisu...we had the apricot and raspberry rugelach, fruit tart, and green tea Swiss roll. All 5 stars!! They also do custom cakes offering a variety of filings and toppings which I'll definitely order next time. Surprisingly, this is the best milk tea I ever had. This place is the only place in Denver, that I know of, that sells durian cake. For those that have never tasted/smelled durian before, I'd recommend familiarizing yourself with it before ordering a whole cake with it. They use real durian inside the cake. My fiance was appalled by the cake because this cake was his first introduction to durian. It is a very stinky/goopy fruit. I, however, thought the cake was great. La is feminine, le is masculine, but petit is masculine and petite is feminine. OKAY. They have some French desserts like opera cake, clafoutis and mousse cakes. They also have lots of Asian-desserts like taro cake, chestnut and red bean cake, and the durian cake I mentioned. The prices are fair. They offer cakes in 8 different sizes! One of our top bakery in Denver. 16 years ago we had our wedding cake ordered from them. The baker took it personally as his masterpiece as we ordered to our liking. From the cake to the filling and icing it was catered to what we'd like. And he did it beautifully. It was awesomely catered to our taste which is not too sweet and overly creamed. Every guests love it. That was when they're in the different location. We thought they'd closed but found out a few years back they have moved to this recent location. Since then, if we have special event we go ordered our cake from them. Their minis are brilliantly tasty. Highly recommended. read more

I was greeted by one of the owners, Gonzo Jimenez (he was on Netflix's Bake Squad reality show) when I approached the counter. I ended up purchasing the following: White Chocolate Strawberry Swirl, $8.50 prior to tax and fees- Of the two bars that I purchased, this one was my favorite. I love white chocolate, especially when combined with fruit or peppermint or dark chocolate. This was a nice creamy bar that really complemented the strawberry flavors. I would purchase this bar again. The only down side is that this bar is thin and I think this bar is pricey for what it is. Pistachio Milk Chocolate Bar, $9.85 prior to tax and fees- According to Gonzo Jimenez, this bar is their take on the trendy Dubai chocolate. I was definitely disappointed with this bar. There really wasn't that much pistachio and a higher ratio of chocolate. This bar was just average for me and wouldn't purchase it again. ------------------------------------ (Total= $20.10 after tax and fees) There are numerous of chocolate desserts, chocolates, bars, etc that one can choose from at this little boutique. But they are a bit pricey, but that's because these are artisan chocolates and some are very pretty. Gonzo Jimenez did tell me that you can also purchase some of their items online, including the bars I purchased (shipping is extra but if you feeling extra spendy, if your order $150 then you can get free shipping).

The raspberry jam on top brought the sweetness to temper the tartness of the mousse, and the chocolate cake and chocolate cookie components also balanced out the dessert with a nice natural bittersweet from the cocoa component. The fruit croissant tart had nice fruit on it, and the cream component reads like a yogurt. The croissant part itself was very tasty and makes me excited to try their original butter croissant next time. And finally, the Madeleine was very impressive. I am not a fan of frosting-like stuff on Madeleines, but this worked so well because it was not too sweet. Very balanced flavors, yet again, with some of that natural bitterness again that contrasts so excellently with the flavors. If I could only use key words to describe their desserts, it would be: beautiful, balanced, complex, and natural. I won't be able to come here often due to how far away I live from here, but I know that I will be back.

I'd say it's worth it if you're a complete beginner at pizza making, but here's the catch: in the class they use the mini Gozney ovens, and we have the full-size Gozney Dome. Practicing on a different oven than the one we'd actually be using at home was a bit off-putting, since so much of pizza making is dialing in your specific setup. That said, I still learned plenty that carried over! It's a 4-hour hands-on class, and you get to mix the dough, practice stretching, and launch your own pizza. The instructor, Gage, really knows his stuff and he was great at explaining the why behind each step, not just the how. I walked away with genuinely useful skills like freezing the dough and shaping technique. It's about $148 a person. The nice touches help. You get a pastry before and a cookie at lunch, plus a detailed recipe packet (dough variations, freezing, mixer methods, the works). And Rebel Bread is a working bakery, so it's a fun space to be in. My other note: the class runs long, and I wish it had been a bit shorter and tighter. For someone who's never made pizza before, I think it'd be worth it. For us, already set up with our own oven, it was a nice experience but not essential.

The aroma of the pho broth was just as I had hoped for a busy restaurant. We waited approximately 10 min for a table. The staff were pretty efficient and looked to have a good system going for bussing tables. Hailing from CA, I am no stranger to good pho, and this place hit the spot. I'm so glad I decided to get the regular instead of the large, because wow those portion sizes were indeed huge. My husband made the "mistake" of ordering the combination vermicelli bowl, and it came packed with tender proteins and crispy egg rolls. That just meant for some delicious leftovers (that actually reheated perfectly). The pho broth was as clear as I had imagined from looking at other patrons' photos. It still had a good depth of flavor, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It had been a long travel day for us, so I didn't want oily soup. (Sometimes I do enjoy rich, oilier pho broth, but not that night.) The pho came with a plethora of herbs, which I of course used all of. Be warned that their chili oil is very spicy, which I accidentally put too much of without first trying (oops). I generally don't go to the same spot twice during a trip, as I enjoy trying out different local businesses, but Pho 92 would have been a spot I'd return to again if we had had the time and if I had wanted pho again. Service was very friendly and helpful, asking if I wanted to bundle the two empanadas I wanted with a sauce for $10, a deal I had not noticed. I got a mushroom empanada, a BBQ chicken empanada, and a side of chimichurri. I was told it would take about 10 minutes for my order, which I appreciated for two reasons: (1) it set my expectation properly and (2) it meant the empanadas would be freshly baked. My empanadas were ready on time and were excellent. They were crispier than other baked empanadas I've had and had great fillings. The chimichurri was one of the best I've had, packed with herbs and the right amount of acidity. I thought the size of the empanadas was reasonable, with two being enough for the light meal I wanted.
