Bill and his crew have done outstang work for me 3 times. I had a whole yard of trees to trim back off of the roof and some to remove completely. This place responded the quickest and I thought it was a fair price for the amount of work. I was happy I had them come out because a few months later we had a hurricane and I had no problems. They did a great job of cleaning up all the debris too. Bill responded on the same day that I had left a message to contact, and then was out the next day, on time, to give an estimate. He and his excellent crew took 2 trees out of our fenced in back yard in only about 6 hours, and then cleaned the yard and the street very well. Sadly I have to give this company a bad review. The owner was referred to me by my neighbor who has worked with this company. When the owner called me he said he didn't know my neighbor and he doesn't do work in Benson. I found that response odd since the website clearly states Benson as a service area. I'd rather he told me he didn't want the work so that at least he'd still be considered an honest man. read more

I had used Bill in the past and was so pleased I wanted to have him come out again and do more work. I had 2 large, dead, 70 ft tall pine trees that needed to be taken out. I also had one that had already fallen and destroyed my fence. They removed a section of my fence and dropped both of these monster trees in a 6' gap. Precision work! It is surprising when we think that we have seen it all and then we find something new in our own front yard. This was my experience when I hired Black Bear Tree Services to remove two large trees which had invaded my front yard and were threatening my walkway, the house foundations and the local electrical relay box The initial booking was clear and simple, a good start for business. The actual procedure was amazing. I had seen the video of the giant tree grinder in action, I was not aware that I was going to see the live display of same with a simple variation: The action was horizontal instead of vertical. It took less than 10 minutes from the moment the trucks were placed in situ to the complete disappearance of two large trees. The crew of three human-beavers moved like a choreography. Every move was calmly implemented with maximum result. The stumps were ground out of view and the front yard was totally cleaned up. The only evidence of the Black Bear Team visit was a treeless and clean front yard. I called Black Bear Tree Service on 8-5-19 and heard back from Bill on the following day of 8-6-19. I was calling different companies to try to get a quote on how much it would cost to have someone come out to cut back some branches towards the trunk of our tree. The tree is next to my house and some of the limbs hang above the roof of our home. I also wanted to get an estimate on how much it would cost to remove this tree so I could save up depending on the cost and possibly have it removed in the future. I found Black Bear Tree Service online and read many excellent reviews. On Black Bear Tree Service's website it says they specialize in and I quote: "tree removal, trimming/pruning and stump grinding. We have worked across the area doing everything from large scale take downs involving crane requisitioning, to simple single limb prunings....." They have more that is said, but I copy and pasted this specifically because as you can see in the quotes from their website it says the words "large scale take downs involving crane requisitioning" as well as "SIMPLE SINGLE LIMB PRUNINGS"; however, when Bill called me back he asked where I lived. I stated that I live in Garner, NC. According to his website, His business is in "headquartered in Clayton, NC, but they said they have customers from the upper edge of North Raleigh down to Benson and eastern Holly Springs over to Kenly." So, after I told Bill that I lived in Garner and after telling him that I needed a quote to see how much it would cost to remove some branches hanging over the tree near my home and an estimate to maybe have the tree removed in the future, he then proceeded to tell me that he only takes big jobs and that he usually cuts down more trees than one or prunes more trees than just one tree. He also told me that he would have to charge me extra for the drive to Garner since he is headquartered in Clayton and therefore because of these reasons he wouldn't be able to help me. I was a bit taken back and confused after reading his website and it not stating this because again if you read what I quoted his website saying or if you go to his website it does say simple single limb prunings. I also have read other people's reviews and to my amazement, he has worked on a tree that fell on someone's car and a tree that fell down at a church. A TREE, not MANY trees, so it leaves me wondering what is the truth or not. Was I being singled out and he just didn't feel like providing me service? I find it a bit contradicting after what his website says, the reviews, versus what he told me on the phone that day. If this company truly only takes on big jobs, then please let your website reflect that and not make it seem like you will take on "SIMPLE SINGLE LIMB PRUNINGS." Thankfully, I have two other tree services that are coming out to give me a quote next week. Please update your website so that you are not misleading the public and hopefully I wasn't being singled out being that the reviews and your website are contradicting as to who you have helped. Bill gave me the best price, he is on Angies List and The Better Business Bureau, he has great reviews.
