Our server, Melinda, was absolutely wonderful! She was incredibly sweet, welcoming, and knowledgeable about the menu, and she made us feel comfortable from the moment we sat down. She was patient with all of our questions and had great recommendations. She also went right along with our antics and made the whole experience even more fun. read more

Breakfast with the family. First time trying this place out and went on the lighter side. The avocado toast with sunny side up eggs. It actually was pretty good! Everything i had was fresh, from the avocado to the fruit bowl. If ur looking for a healthier option, I would recommend this! Great service as well! Our waitress actually was the one that recommend me the avocado toast since I was the one that asked for something on the lighter side. Reason for the 4 stars is cause of not what I ordered but what my family ordered. They told me what they got had no flavor and was bland. Especially the french toast and also the pancakes. The bacon was good though, eggs, and the hashbrowns is made fresh. read more

Stopped by Black Bear Diner and was really pleased with the overall experience. For $12.99, you get a solid, budget-friendly meal with huge portions that will definitely leave you full. I had the steak and eggs plate served with scrambled eggs, country potatoes topped with onions, and rye toast. The food was decent--classic, simple diner comfort food that hits the spot when you want something warm and hearty. read more

Amazing service and food. Jesse was phenomenal and so nice. The food is really good too! Their pot roast is just the right amount of tender and melts in your mouth. There wasn't many people on a Tuesday afternoon but my food still came out very fast. I will definitely be visiting again. read more

Black Bear Diner was a good overall experience. The customer service from Courtney was amazing! She was so helpful with everything--and I mean everything. From helping us with our order to addressing any issues we had and explaining things, she truly went above and beyond. There is lots of seating inside, so the wait wasn't too long. As for the food, the pancakes were a little too fluffy for my liking and seemed like they weren't cooked all the way through. The eggs were good, while the bacon and sausage were just okay. We also got the ham flank steak, and it was good. read more

Food was particularly delicious tonight with Ricky in the kitchen and our service was more than excellent with Courtney. My family and I love coming here, and it's always yummy. But the food was SOOOO SO GOOD . The panko fish and onion rings- and the burger (sub with Parmesan sourdough) amazing. Cheap kids meals. Can't beat it. Thanks Ricky and Courtney! read more

We've been here twice. The first time was nice, they sat us quickly, the food was good, and we had no complaints. We decided to try it again and I have no clue what was wrong today but they told us they couldn't seat us for 20-25 minutes. After waiting 45 minutes we asked how much longer the wait would be and they said they weren't sure. The kitchen wasn't cooking because there were too many orders. If they had told us the wait was 45-60 minutes we wouldn't have stayed. Their customer service was terrible no matter how cute the decor was. read more

A very classic and comforting diner feel, but the service was kind of slow. I'd recommend it if you have time to wait and slowly enjoy your food, but not if you want a quick brunch place. Overall, the food was pretty good though. I got the build your own breakfast, and it was pretty standard eggs, bacon, and a waffle. Nothing super special, but just classic diner food done well. read more

Had to give 1 star because you can't give a zero. Got to the restaurant at 9:45am. Waited to be seated. Sat down was given 2 empty cups for coffee and our waters. Waiter told us he would be back with coffee. Here we are thinking oh good we are going to get freshly made coffee. Seen another server fill coffee cups but ours remained empty. We were waiting for the coffee for approx 10-13 minutes. I wasn't about to chase the waiter down. If I had it my way, I would have grabbed the pot myself and filled our cups. I've never been brought empty cups ever. Always full cups of coffee wherever we have had ate. Left the restaurant at 10:13 Sadly, not going there again And we were so looking forward to our breakfast plate...the grizz Too bad read more

The 3 star rating is solely for the service. Our server was great! I ordered the marinated skirt steak and eggs. The steak was tough and the marinade needs to go. It had an awful, funky flavor. At least my over easy eggs were well cooked. Somehow the biscuit took on that funky flavor. Thank goodness for the excellent service. read more

I'm not sure what's happening. Our waitress ignored us. Didn't offer a drink order. Didn't bring extra napkins. I had to go to the bathroom to get papertowels. I have the 4piece chicken and obviously you need more that 1 small napkins. She never checked on us until we were done with the meal. She didn't bring butter for my corn on the cob... not sure why? We tried to stop her to ask for our drinks and she kept walking while we shouted our order to her. Very rude and discouteous. This is our second negative contact with this place. The food was burnt.... ham steak and potato over cooked/burnt black and chicken was greasy. We won't be going back to this location. We tip waitresses very good bc they have a hard job but you ma'am did not rank any tip at all. Then we had 2 live wants walking on our table when the food arrived. We had to kill them while eating lunch. Gross read more

Black Bear Diner didn't disappoint. The food was so delicious. We had so much food we had to take some home. Loved their coffee it was good. Service was great. Our waitress was attentive. Only comment would be I wish there was a hostess at the front and cashier. There was a bit of a wait but would have been nice to not have to wait for someone. Ambiance - It's a diner LOL During breakfast there's a lot going on, lots of families with kids, etc. But it was totally fine and expected. read more

I came here with my family and unfortunately had a really disappointing experience. The wait for our food was very long. I ordered a Cobb salad, which should be one of the quickest items to prepare, but it took forever to come out. Because we were running late, I only had time to take a few bites before we had to leave and I took the rest to go. When I got home, I noticed the eggs in my salad had mold all over them. This is a serious health hazard and honestly reflects very poorly on the restaurant's food quality and safety standards. I hope management takes this seriously and improves their quality control so this doesn't happen to anyone else. read more

Melinda from the Rancho location was exceptional. Patient and so helpful. I look forward to coming to this location again because of her.

Went on a Saturday morning. The place was busy but there was plenty of seating available. The food was solid but what made the meal was the service. Melinda was our server and she was awesome. She served us coffee frequently and was pleasant when we requested anything. read more

Me and my husband ate at this location last week for the first time and enjoyed ourself so much we came back the following week. We went both days on a Tuesday around 1:30 and it wasn't that busy our waitress Michelle let us sit where ever we wanted, I appreciated that. She was our waitress for both days and each time she was attentive, hospitable and welcoming we came back because of her. Last week I tried the BLT on sourdough and this week I ordered the steak and eggs with hashbrowns and toast for $12.99 it was their mon-fri special it was alot of food at a great price. The food and their strawberry lemonade was good. The food, the decor and our waitress Michelle made it an enjoyable and pleasant experience. read more

This is our first time trying this spot, but it was worth the review. The ambiance to start is cozy, the AC is cold which is great when it's hot out. We were seated right away, Mario was our server. He was efficient and kind, we placed our order for our drinks and food. We got the fresh squeezed orange juice, you can see the oranges ready to be squeezed nearby. It was delicious. The huckleberry lemonade was amazing as well. We got the tritip dip and honestly the au jus isn't needed. The tritip was so juicy, it was flavorful, and the portions were generous. The onion rings were great as well. The chicken avocado club was delicious, the chicken wasn't dry either, the portions were also generous on this plate, the lettuce looked fresh. The ranch was great. All of this for 53$! read more

My friend and I went to Black Bear Diner for breakfast, and it was pretty busy when we arrived. At first, the hostess said it would be a few minutes, then came back and said about 20 minutes -- but a super-friendly host named Gio ended up seating us right away. He was cheerful and welcoming, which made a great first impression. We both ordered the Sweet Cream Waffle breakfasts. My friend had hers with strawberries and whipped cream, and we both got eggs and bacon -- she had scrambled, and I ordered mine over hard. The food was overall good, though my egg came out a bit too firm, with the top kind of too crispy, and the bacon was tasty. My friend said her meal was fine -- nothing special, but good. We both ordered coffee -- I got decaf and she had regular. I didn't care for my decaf; it had a strange chocolatey taste, so I sent it back. My friend's coffee came out in a stained cup, which didn't look great. They did exchange it for a clean one, but honestly, it never should have been served that way. Our server was polite, though service was on the slow side -- about 25 minutes for the food and a bit longer for the check. The atmosphere was cozy and lively, with every table full, kind of like something you'd see at Knott's Berry Farm -- nostalgic and family-style. Overall, it was an okay breakfast -- friendly staff and a nice atmosphere, but a few service and quality issues kept it from being great. read more

I've been coming to this Black Bear Diner location with my family for a few years now but my most recent visit prompted me to make this review. There's always great service and amazing food but my most recent experience way by far the best. Especially because of the service provided the waiter Jesse.
