The place could use some updates the carpet and surrounding areas had an unpleasant smell, and the seating felt worn and not very comfortable. We also noticed a bug on our menus, and my friend's water glass had a lipstick stain on it, which was a bit concerning. We almost left, but decided to give it a chance. I always thought BBD was in the same league as Denny's or IHOP. Casual ambiance and very informal. However hubby & I've been frequently BBD numerous times over the last year. I guess we've become casual and informal. Most recently today Sunday around 10:50am for a late breakfast. We were promptly seated. Our server greeted us soon afterwards. Asked us about something to drink and if we were ready to order. We answered yes to both questions. Within a very short time we got our coffee and our breakfast items. Easy parking because it's in the plaza, but it was pretty full considering it was the holiday weekend. It was my first time here, and my husband has been here a few times. Everything came out hot and plated nicely. - The 10oz steak and eggs were solid diner style comfort. The steak was well seasoned, juicy and paired nicely with sunny side up eggs and crispy hash browns. It is a filling plate and definitely meant for a big appetite. - The California bacon Benedict was rich and satisfying. The hollandaise was creamy without being too heavy and the bacon added a nice savory balance. This came with a sign of either house potatoes or hash browns, but I ended up swapping it for the sweet potato fries which came out crisp on the outside and soft inside. The side of fresh fruit added a refreshing contrast to the richness of the dish. Service was friendly, and the food came out at a good pace. I unfortunately had to ask the server for stuff like utensils and napkins since that was forgotten, but I enjoyed the food. A bunch of laughs, devouring of food. This location is pretty good, I would just give tips like servers frequently checking on tables since it took a while to flag a server just for napkins. She muttered something and walked away, and we never got them. Looking back, maybe she didn't understand us, but if that was the case, it would've made sense to get someone who did. We couldn't find our waitress for a while, and by the time we finally got utensils, our food was cold. My fries actually came out of the kitchen cold to begin with. Overall, the food itself was just okay but with a high price point. The highlight of the meal was honestly the vanilla iced coffee. Despite looking a little overdone the sweet cream waffle is good in the build your own breakfast. Tasty and a little crispy on the edges. The "smaller sized" portion of the ham and cheese omelette was literally so big it might as well be the regular sized portion. Omelettes were very flavorful, biscuits were soft and fresh and so so so buttery. Country fried steak was amazing. Family and I felt (and looked) like bowling balls walking out of the restaurant. Staff can be slow to come by, even without the restaurant at full occupancy, especially if you're sitting in a corner that isn't that busy. went here for an early father's day brunch since my dad requested for this spot. we got here around 12 ish and it wasn't busy on a saturday. we were seated right away and after we ordered, we probably waited about 15-20 before our food came out. i ordered the mini volcano with a sunny side up! i was able to finish it all because it was mini! the thick slice of bacon was salty and at some parts hard to chew , the sausage was also on the salty side. the sunny side up, although cooked perfection, lacked seasoning and was on the oily side. the pancakes were just right and fluffy. i gave this location 2 stars just because the seat was sticky when we sat down, there was a massive hairball on the rug and my fiancé witnessed an employee use the urinal, walk out and straight to the kitchen. personally was disgusted especially since we've all finished eating. just the lack of cleanliness made this visit disappointing. read more

I came back to Black Bear for a second visit with my two little ones and we were all very happy with our meal here so I felt the need to add an additional star to my previous review. I got the chicken sausage scramble which is on their lighter fare menu. There was no sacrifice of flavor or portion though - my meal consisted of some eggs scrambled with chicken sausage, veggies and cheese, with a side of wheat toast and fruit. Everything was well cooked and paired well together and left me feeling satiated but not overly stuffed. Fruit is not really "fresh" as advertised, but that's the case for most diners. My kids both got a cub cake which is 1 big pancake and two mini ones that come in the shape of a bear with some fruit and whipped cream, and some chocolate chips for the eyes. My kids loved it and scarfed most of it down. We also got a side of bacon for them to balance out the sweetness of the pancake and all 4 slices of bacon disappeared by the end of our meal too. The Black Bear dinner is one of my family's breakfast places, and My daughters love their pancakes. This morning we ordered the Fit & Focused Chicken Sausage Scramble and a kid's build-your-own breakfast plate. The servings at this restaurant are pretty hefty, so I could not finish my scramble even though it was fresh and delicious. My daughter's plate had one pancake, one sausage, and one egg. Unfortunately, she couldn't finish her pancake because it was a bit undercooked. The eggs had a strange flavor which I assumed came from the grill, but my daughter insisted on eating them. The service was friendly and fast. The server came twice to make sure we had what we needed to enjoy our meals.
