    Sausage burrito

Tucked inside chick n coop, this little cafe is a change of pace. Friendly service and clean! While I didn't order coffee, I saw that they had food. Not extensive by any means, but your basic breakfast fare of cold items and warm items. I ordered the sausage burrito and while it wasn't life changing, it hit the spot in needing something portable and breakfastsy. Fun thing was that when I asked for a cup of water, ice was added. The ice cubes were in a unique shape that reminded me of mini doughnuts instead of cubes. Cute.

This cafe and brunch spot opened a little more than a month ago. Only tried atypical breakfast items like donuts, bagel, pastries and fruit cups; everything was fine. A Nicaraguan spot from what I gather so will revisit to try their cuisine. Note this cafe located in the middle of a block, has metered street parking, and shares the same address as Chick N Coop (https://yelp.to/iNDLhYQrxqb).

Cherry danish and Mexican Mocha were delicious! Not a place to study, the cafe is attached to a diner so there was like a sour smell coming from the kitchen. I would definitely return if that improved.

    Sandwich Bagel

This place opened up near my house and my husband and I chose to try it out We were really craving sandwiches but they only had bagels and breakfast burritos, however, when we asked the lovely ladies they said they could make us sandwich bagels so they did and these were some of the most delicious ones we've ever had Everything was just amazing and it tasted so fresh Plus the customer service was great both of them were so nice and friendly Definitely check it out if you're around the area

We arrived past 4pm and ordered four drinks: two Mango Floats, a Turon Milk Tea, and a Lychee, Passion Fruit & Calamansi Tea. Although the store didn't appear busy and I was the only customer ordering drinks at the time (my daughter was waiting in the car), the wait ended up being much longer than expected. After about 15 minutes, one of the staff members approached me and apologized for the delay, explaining that they were missing an ingredient but assuring me that the drinks would be ready soon. I appreciated the communication and courtesy. However, it still took roughly 30 minutes from the time I ordered before we finally received our drinks. What made the experience more disappointing was that they had also run out of straws, so none were available with the drinks. In addition, the drinks themselves did not quite meet our expectations. Some tasted watered down, others seemed overly creamy, and none of the drinks included boba. I'm not sure if the missing ingredient mentioned earlier was related, but it may have contributed to the overall experience. While I appreciated the staff's professionalism and willingness to keep customers informed, the long wait, inventory shortages, and drink quality made this visit less enjoyable than we had hoped. I would be willing to give Kapwa another try in the future, as this may have been an unfortunate off day.

They have a range of milk teas for $10 and popular ones include the turon milk tea (which truly does taste like it!) and mango float. They are sweet but delightful to sip while you chill at the cafe whether you have work to do or want to indulge in a creative project. The cost of the boba goes toward fundraising for youth initiatives and other community needs! The times i have visited they've hosted free pop ups and events like a clothing swap and dessert tasting. Wifi also worked great! They are lovely advocates for community and also recently just started a community pantry. Check them out or follow them on socials for events!!

Fortunately, there wasn't that headache-inducing elevation challenge in coming here, but it felt kinda remote to someone who doesn't make it to the Balboa Park station that often. It kinda felt like a hillside warming hut on the way to oh I dunno... Machu Picchu? The place was relatively cavernous with an eye-catching faux-cherry blossom tree smack in the middle (Photo 7). Interesting decorating choice. True to its name, they offer Peruvian coffee and specialties like empanadas and alfajores on their extensive menu. However, what caught my attention was the extensive sandwich selection. Feeling quite peckish that day, I decided to order the $16.25 Turkey Club Sandwich, which was a pretty hearty layering of deli turkey, crispy bacon, Swiss cheese, avocado, lettuce, onion, tomato, and mayo between slices of toasted sourdough (Photo 8). It worked. Even though it wasn't completely packed, I was so glad I made a reservation in advance! Most of the individual tables were taken, with mainly communal seating left, so having our spot locked in made the experience super smooth. We had our toddler with us, and since she asked for noodles, we ordered the Drunken Noodles and requested them non-spicy. It still had a tiny kick that was a bit much for her, but it was absolutely perfect for my husband and me! To make sure she was fed, we ordered the Pad Thai next--and she completely loved it! The rest of our meal was fantastic. The spicy eggplant had a great flavor without being overly hot, and the pork belly was amazingly crispy and rich. We had to rush home, so we missed out on dessert this time, but we'll definitely be back soon!

It was Saturday midday and the area was quite busy, but we were able to find street parking a few blocks away. Tip: if you park on the street, beware of 1 hr parking signs on certain sections of the street! We waited just under 10 minutes to get in because we were a small party and could immediately see how lively it was inside. I really liked the decor. It felt homey, but still sleek and modern, very understated in a good way with natural tones. It was totally my kind of restaurant. Again it was quite busy inside, and I think that may be why service was just okay. When we sat down, our table had two empty water glasses, but no water. I looked at tables next to us and realized they all had bottles of water, and one table had two, so I wondered if they took ours. In any case, the waiter must have missed it when we were seated and given menus, so it took a bit for us to wave someone down for water. We also ended up needing another napkin later, and it was a bit hard to catch the eye of anyone to ask for more as they hustled by. Looking at the menu, everything looked good, so we tried a few things: crab and sweet corn benedict, pork belly benedict, and matcha pancakes. And that's where we were let down a little more. Most of our food came out cold or lukewarm. For the benedicts, I hypothesized it might have been because they were made with fresh hollandaise, but my friend told me hollandaise can be made hot, so that theory went out the window. For the pancakes, I am not really sure what happened. Other than that, my friend's pork belly was very chewy and hard to cut. Overall, though everything was presented well and looked great, the execution was just not there. Still, I had a nice chat with another customer who ordered the porridge and really enjoyed it, so I know they are doing other things well on the menu, it was just not our day I guess. All that said, we had an okay experience, but I don't know if it's enough to warrant a repeat visit if not for a specific occasion.
