My door dash order was a mess and the manager did NOTHING and did not even respond to my email regarding this mess. This is the email I sent with photos and GOT NO REPLY. Sent twice even. I ordered the burger with bad ass onion rings and a root beer. What I got was a cold burger, NO onions rings and an empty cup/lid in the bag. I got a dinner roll and butter, not sure why? I also ordered the chicken/avocado bacon sandwich with side salad and Ranch dressing. I got the chicken sandwich, one piece of bacon and NO avocado. I did not get my side salad with ranch. The absolute topping on this cake is that inside the chicken sandwich you will see there is a wrapper of some kind inside of the sandwich. It was obviously cooked into the sandwich. How in the world does this happen in a nicer restaurant. When I spend 53.00 to have two sandwiches delivered, I would hope they are at least close to what I ordered and edible. I am a frequent customer to Black Angus visiting at least once a month sometime twice. I never had a bad experience since dining at Black Angus Citrus Heights. My friends and I enjoy dining there when we're in the mood for steak and its always a great experience. Our last visit this weekend we all decided to try something different other the the usual steak. My buddy ordered the ribs ans chicken plate and it was not a great choice. Both ribs and chicken tastes like freezer burn absolutely horrible. I never like to complain nor ever had to because the meal is always consistently delicious, although not this time. I did politely mention to the waitress that my buddies meal wasn't good which he didn't eat and reassure us she would no charge us for his meal. I also had ribs but my meal was delicious. Needless to say we were still charged for the meal. I won't say we will never return although this was our first unsatisfactory experience at Black Angus Citrus Heights. read more

We were craving steak and were in the area, so decided to give it a try. The inside is very spacious with lots of booths and tables. We were seated in a booth and we loved the high booth. It felt very private and with the little ones it was especially nice. We decided on the 2 people for $69, and paid a little more for the prime rib. It came with an appetizer, 2 entrees with 2 sides, and a dessert. Everything came out a little at a time. The kids meals came out fairly early which is always great. Our soup came last and we had to remind our server about them. Food was pretty decent. Steaks were cooked how we wanted them. Soups were hearty and warm, and potatoes were cooked well. The calamari was crispy and we liked the sweet chili sauce that came with it. The red velvet cheesecake was ok, nothing too special. The kids meals came with ice cream so they definitely enjoyed that. Service was wonderful. Our waiter was busy but attentive. Our server was great, super sweet guy. I ordered the open face prime rib sandwich, it was tasty, decent portion of prime rib. The zucchini appetizer was really good, thinly breaded and deep fried to perfection. The salad was good if you enjoy iceberg lettuce, i believe it came straight from the refrigerator because the plate and fork were both ice cold! Overall, it was OK. I'm not sure if we'd revisit or not. My only complaint and it's legitimate was the woman washing her hair in the ladies restroom. We've actually been coming here for years but I finally remembered to review. Came here today, on a Sunday, for my birthday lunch with my family. It was myself, my husband and my parents. We arrived when they opened and got a large booth. They have a new (to me) brunch menu and my husband ordered the Deviled Eggs & Country fried steak from that menu. I had the ribeye with asparagus and French fries, and my parents got the campfire feast for 2. We also had the calamari strips as an appetizer and the bread was delicious as usual. Food- delicious, the calamari strips were so good, all calamari no tentacles! Ribeye was cooked perfectly and was seasoned, simple. Service - Jaclyn was our server and she was great, she came to check on us enough times and refills were fast. Overall- I am glad I picked BA for my birthday lunch, the booths allow for conversation and they had new items we got to try. We were greeted promptly and I requested seating in the bar area because my husband has mobility issues. We had to wait about 10 minutes but I didn't want my husband to walk further. We were seated in a nice booth but there was no lighting above us, so it was darker than over by the windows, We were celebrating my birthday and our waitress was very nice and deferred to my choices. We shared the Campfire Feast and it turned out to be a great choice except for the potato skins. They were a little too crispy but we only had time for one each because our dinner was served almost right after. My husband was very happy with his Prime Rib and even finished all the au jus. He felt the potatoes were on the skimpy side and his green beans were very al dente. My salmon and baked potato were delicious. I had the salad and it was very filling. I ordered the carrot cake to go because our waitress brought the chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream as my birthday treat. It was a little too sweet for me, so my husband finished it for me! My new year's resolution is to refrain from eating until I take a good picture. This visit was on a tuesday night. In twenty twenty five I probably averaged a visit every other month here. I keep coming back because this location has risen to the top of steakhouses in sacramento, and steak is my favorite meal, he has one of the overall best and most reliable. I have been to other steakhouses, where the food is better. The service is excellent. And still come back here where they do make mistakes. However, try to leave the customer fully satisfied. This location has been here forever. It was a date night place for me in the 90's. The inside still looks exactly the same along with the gross tacky pink bathroom. Have not been here since my last review in 2018. We were on our way to Mongolian BBQ up the street for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and it occurred to me how long its been so we made detour. I didn't think they would have any lunch specials on the weekend but they did have some brunch items that I did not try. Their entrees are pricey $30 avg and I didn't want to spend that much for lunch so we got appetizers. They still have the wagon wheel sampler! and the same sweet brown molasses bread. Hubs ordered the cheesy garlic bread with steak and I got the surf and turf quesadilla while we shared the potato wedges. The steak was way overcooked on both our meals. The $7 wedges were dry, hardly any cheese. Hubs actually passed on eating the last one. Our lunch was $45 before tip with no drinks. It was tasty enough to finish my meal but I never said Mmmmnn. Hubs asked me, do you wish we went to Mongolian? I said my appetite does, but was still glad to try them out again. A meal for two here can easily be $80+. I can think of numerous other places I would rather go for that amount. The service was great though. I made a reservation for 10 people two weeks in advance. We chose this restaurant specifically because it is typically quiet and allows us to comfortably visit with family. I was surprised to learn that even with a reservation, a half booth could not be guaranteed. We arrived early but still waited past our reservation time. Once seated, we waited quite a while without any acknowledgment from our server. There were also not enough menus or place settings for our party. When she eventually came to the table, we placed our drink orders and let her know we would need the check split three ways. Throughout the evening, her repeated "yeahs" felt unprofessional. Service was consistently slow. Our food took a long time to arrive, water glasses were not refilled, and plates were not cleared promptly. The filet mignons, which were a $7 upgrade on the Campfire Feast, looked more like one-inch-thick top sirloins than filets, which was both disappointing and confusing. To make matters worse, they were out of both the fudge cake and the mud pie, which was especially frustrating since those desserts are part of the Campfire Feast. After two and a half hours, our bills finally arrived, but several items were incorrectly placed on the wrong checks. To add to the frustration, a 3% credit card surcharge was included without clear prior notice. Overall, the experience was disappointing from beginning to end, and we will not be returning. read more

I visited this place with a group of friends today while visiting for a conference. I had been craving a steak all weekend and was looking forward to this window of time between sessions. Full transparency, the initial plan was to go to Cattleman's, but they wouldn't be open for some time and our window was small. Upon arriving, they took some time to get us seated even though we made a reservation. It would be another 30 minutes before the server would take our orders. I shared a 2 for $69 special and ordered the ribeye as my entree. For sides, I chose a garden salad and asparagus. The salad was alright but it definitely needed more dressing. The asparagus was hard and really lacked seasoning. The ribeye was a decent size but it also lacked flavor. I didn't enjoy it. I tried another party member's green beans and it was also lacking in flavor and seasoning. Our server seemed irritated from jump. Her demeanor wasn't warm and seemed cold at times. Smiling is not a requirement but it definitely helps- at least during the initial interaction. The restaurant was dusty with cob webs everywhere and looks as if it hasn't been deep cleaned in a while (see photos). It started with the appearance of the interior, all of the upholstery starting at the hostess area had holes and was actually shredded on most of the booths. It looked terrible and we would have left right away but we were meeting friends and they were already seated. I ordered my steak med rare and it came out well done (no pink). By the time the waiter came by to see how we were doing, everyone was about done. I left three quarters of my steak on the plate and the waiter didn't ask if it was ok or not. The Ribeye was calling my name, so I had to answer the call. April provided excellent service and should probably receive a nice bonus, especially given all of the plating that must be moved back and forth. It is 69.00 normally, however I bought a groupon and paid 43.00. We started with a the artichoke dip. It was warm creamy and absolutely delicious. The tortilla chips are made fresh and were also good. My mom ordered filet mignon and I ordered the New York strip. It was cooked perfectly. So juicy and delicious. Since there are not many of these spots around anymore we came to this one to see what it's like nowadays. The space had a good amount of seating for all types of groups and we did not have to wait. It was a Saturday night and there was a good amount of people in the place. There were 3 of us so we ended up getting a prime rib dinner and the campfire dinner for 2 it started at $69. The campfire dinner included 1 app, 2 entrees, 4 sides and 1 dessert. To start we got the sampler app so we could try a few things but it was $6 extra. It came with 2 potato skins, 4 shrimp cocktail, 4 small boneless Buffalo chicken pieces, and abouy 6 fried zucchini. The fried zucchini was by far the best item but overall the portion was small and we had to ask for dips/sauce. They included brown bread but only one roll so 3 of us handled that pretty quick. I would recommend having more ready or serving 2 as they are not that big. For the side we got fries, mashed potatoes, regular and wedge salad. The wedge was an extra $3 but was definitely better than the regular salad. The other sides were standard. Our entrees were also not impressive. The bbq chicken and ribs were dry. The chicken breast wasn't flavorful and the ribs were overcooked. The bbq sauce that came with the plate was helpful to help enhance the meats. The new york strip was a good size but was not juicy and needed seasoning. The best meat was the prime rib, it was cooked very well and was juicy med rare. We got onion rings with that meal and they were crunchy and delicious. The dessert that came with our meal was the mud pie and that was a hit. I would definitely recommend it everytime. All in all the place brought back some old memories but the service was not as aware of the details to make our experience top notch and with the level of steak house options nowadays you gotta check all boxes everytime. read more

I've been here twice in the last few months mostly because of the Groupon deal. Both visits were good , no, it's not fine dining but, I appreciate the old school steak house experience. Last night, had the campfire special and chose the prawn cocktail, NY steak w/broccoli and baked potato and carrot cake. The prawn cocktail was fresh, delicious and a generous portion. The steak was cooked as ordered and tender and tasty. I had to get the dessert to go because was too full. But I liked the dark ambiance and our server, Sean, was friendly and did a great job. Well, we usually go to Texas Roadhouse because the food is better and because of our last experience. We were enticed by a BOGO offer to give BA another try. The food and service were good but they are up to their old tricks. We ordered a steak salad for the "free" entree. When they charged us for the steak salad, they charged us for a salad and a steak add-on separately (even though it is listed as a single item with a single price on the menu). So the salad became the free item and we were charged for the add-on. And to top it off, they added a service charge for using a credit card. The waitress said it was on the menu but we didn't see it. Turns out, the BOGO offer wasn't as generous as we thought. Pretty sneaky!! We will be going back to Texas Roadhouse. read more

My girlfriend and I got the campfire feast and man is it not worth it. The service we received was good and bad. Our food took really long (we knew this), and with that they gave us refills on the bread. However, when our food arrived it did not come cooked the way my girlfriend wanted it. She wanted well done and received a medium rare steak. Our main server never came around to refill our waters and we just didn't even get to enjoy our meals together (was our anniversary). Also, they advertise it like you're going to get 4 plates of sides to share. Which would make much more sense considering the price you're paying. Instead, you just get 2 sides per entree (on your own plate) and don't even get to share.
