My door dash order was a mess and the manager did NOTHING and did not even respond to my email regarding this mess. This is the email I sent with photos and GOT NO REPLY. Sent twice even. I ordered the burger with bad ass onion rings and a root beer. What I got was a cold burger, NO onions rings and an empty cup/lid in the bag. I got a dinner roll and butter, not sure why? I also ordered the chicken/avocado bacon sandwich with side salad and Ranch dressing. I got the chicken sandwich, one piece of bacon and NO avocado. I did not get my side salad with ranch. The absolute topping on this cake is that inside the chicken sandwich you will see there is a wrapper of some kind inside of the sandwich. It was obviously cooked into the sandwich. How in the world does this happen in a nicer restaurant. When I spend 53.00 to have two sandwiches delivered, I would hope they are at least close to what I ordered and edible. I ended up throwing out everything and having a egg and toast for dinner since it was so late by this time. My husband had just gotten out of the hospital and was very hungry and absolutely LOVED your chicken sandwich last time we were there, so I thought I would surprise him with a good meal. You can imagine my disappointment when I received this order.

We were craving steak and were in the area, so decided to give it a try. The inside is very spacious with lots of booths and tables. We were seated in a booth and we loved the high booth. It felt very private and with the little ones it was especially nice. We decided on the 2 people for $69, and paid a little more for the prime rib. It came with an appetizer, 2 entrees with 2 sides, and a dessert. Everything came out a little at a time. The kids meals came out fairly early which is always great. Our soup came last and we had to remind our server about them. Food was pretty decent. Steaks were cooked how we wanted them. Soups were hearty and warm, and potatoes were cooked well. The calamari was crispy and we liked the sweet chili sauce that came with it. The red velvet cheesecake was ok, nothing too special. The kids meals came with ice cream so they definitely enjoyed that. Service was wonderful. Our waiter was busy but attentive. They cleared our plates often, which helped because there was a lot of food on our table. We really enjoyed our dinner and would come back again.

That's a picture of the seat in the booth! Uncomfortable

Our server was great, super sweet guy. I ordered the open face prime rib sandwich, it was tasty, decent portion of prime rib. The zucchini appetizer was really good, thinly breaded and deep fried to perfection. The salad was good if you enjoy iceberg lettuce, i believe it came straight from the refrigerator because the plate and fork were both ice cold! Overall, it was OK. I'm not sure if we'd revisit or not. My only complaint and it's legitimate was the woman washing her hair in the ladies restroom. I really didn't expect to see that before lunch and especially in a restaurant! The ladies restroom needs alot of TLC. It was so dirty and nobody flushed their toilets. Ugh Oh, and their booth seats, Yikes Black Angus, i will always hold a special place in my heart for you. But oh my gosh, please clean your restroom

We've actually been coming here for years but I finally remembered to review. Came here today, on a Sunday, for my birthday lunch with my family. It was myself, my husband and my parents. We arrived when they opened and got a large booth. They have a new (to me) brunch menu and my husband ordered the Deviled Eggs & Country fried steak from that menu. I had the ribeye with asparagus and French fries, and my parents got the campfire feast for 2. We also had the calamari strips as an appetizer and the bread was delicious as usual. Food- delicious, the calamari strips were so good, all calamari no tentacles! Ribeye was cooked perfectly and was seasoned, simple. Service - Jaclyn was our server and she was great, she came to check on us enough times and refills were fast. Overall- I am glad I picked BA for my birthday lunch, the booths allow for conversation and they had new items we got to try. It was starting to fill up as we left but I think if you want someplace that's a bit quieter than a Texas Roadhouse or an Outback this is the place for you.

Steve's favorite dinner--prime rib and mashed potato

We were greeted promptly and I requested seating in the bar area because my husband has mobility issues. We had to wait about 10 minutes but I didn't want my husband to walk further. We were seated in a nice booth but there was no lighting above us, so it was darker than over by the windows, We were celebrating my birthday and our waitress was very nice and deferred to my choices. We shared the Campfire Feast and it turned out to be a great choice except for the potato skins. They were a little too crispy but we only had time for one each because our dinner was served almost right after. My husband was very happy with his Prime Rib and even finished all the au jus. He felt the potatoes were on the skimpy side and his green beans were very al dente. My salmon and baked potato were delicious. I had the salad and it was very filling. I ordered the carrot cake to go because our waitress brought the chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream as my birthday treat. It was a little too sweet for me, so my husband finished it for me! The service was very good and the food, for the most part, was very good. Thank you for making my birthday special!

My new year's resolution is to refrain from eating until I take a good picture. This visit was on a tuesday night. In twenty twenty five I probably averaged a visit every other month here. I keep coming back because this location has risen to the top of steakhouses in sacramento, and steak is my favorite meal, he has one of the overall best and most reliable. I have been to other steakhouses, where the food is better. The service is excellent. And still come back here where they do make mistakes. However, try to leave the customer fully satisfied. Everyone from the top, Don, down to the VERY energetic and friendly guy who brings us our food and fill our water and provides us with endless loaves of bread and went out of their way to not only.make us, but everyone feel welcomed and important. Yes im nosey and people watch. Tonight CJ is our server. Large cat and express how professional and intuitive. He is. This is recently about the third time that i've sat at his table, and every single time.Whether he remembers me or not, he's been outstanding. The food tonight like always was excellent.I love the potato skins and consistently get the ribeye. I have tried most everything else yet. These two stand out to me as being my favorites. I also get a side solid with blue cheese. The dressing seems to be addicting. The ambience on busier nights is a bit loud and more affestive on.Slower nights, a nice place to talk.Have a good conversation. I feel you can find everything here. If I had to use one word to describe this place, I would say down to earth. I know that's three worde .But if you use dashes, it could be one word? Everyone has minor mistakes. This place does also, however, over time. And repeated experience, this place is the most consistent steakhouse. I've been to in Sacramento. Good job BA

Be aware that the Big Mountain Chocolate Fudge Cake doesn't have "hot" fudge poured over the cake like the picture.

We were seated a few minutes after arriving on a Monday. We ordered the dinner for 2 people @$69. Be warned if you want certain items it is an additional charge (we ordered prime rib which was $6 extra per order.) The desert we ordered WAS NOT like the menu (see remarks on the picture.) Overall the meal was awesome however the desert was a downer. The decor is a cowboy theme and very elegant.

This location has been here forever. It was a date night place for me in the 90's. The inside still looks exactly the same along with the gross tacky pink bathroom. Have not been here since my last review in 2018. We were on our way to Mongolian BBQ up the street for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and it occurred to me how long its been so we made detour. I didn't think they would have any lunch specials on the weekend but they did have some brunch items that I did not try. Their entrees are pricey $30 avg and I didn't want to spend that much for lunch so we got appetizers. They still have the wagon wheel sampler! and the same sweet brown molasses bread. Hubs ordered the cheesy garlic bread with steak and I got the surf and turf quesadilla while we shared the potato wedges. The steak was way overcooked on both our meals. The $7 wedges were dry, hardly any cheese. Hubs actually passed on eating the last one. Our lunch was $45 before tip with no drinks. It was tasty enough to finish my meal but I never said Mmmmnn. Hubs asked me, do you wish we went to Mongolian? I said my appetite does, but was still glad to try them out again. A meal for two here can easily be $80+. I can think of numerous other places I would rather go for that amount. The service was great though. This is one of the few locations left in the Sacramento area that I would still hate to see go.

03.05.25 Campfire Feast Dinner for Two
    May A.

Only Sacramento location [Citrus Heights CA] First time at this Black Angus. There aren't that many locations in NorCal, maybe only three and two of them are in the Bay Area and the rest are in SoCal. Before this visit our last time in a Black Angus restaurant was in July 2019... in Kissimmee FL! We had a nice dining experience. We had the dinner for two Campfire Feast: - Starter (choose one): Loaded Potato Skins - Entrées (choose two): 12-oz New York Strip and 12-oz RibEye (add'l $6) - Sidekicks (choose four): Garden Salad, Loaded Baked Potato Soup, Mashed Potatoes, Classic Baked Potato - Dessert (choose one): Crème Brûlée Service was great and our table was cleared often of the used plates. The food was delicious except hubby didn't particularly like the Loaded Baked Potato Soup. No complaints about our dining experience. Nice, quiet ambiance with private booths. Review #3728

Chicken, ribs, green beans and loaded mashed potatoes.

I visited this place with a group of friends today while visiting for a conference. I had been craving a steak all weekend and was looking forward to this window of time between sessions. Full transparency, the initial plan was to go to Cattleman's, but they wouldn't be open for some time and our window was small. Upon arriving, they took some time to get us seated even though we made a reservation. It would be another 30 minutes before the server would take our orders. I shared a 2 for $69 special and ordered the ribeye as my entree. For sides, I chose a garden salad and asparagus. The salad was alright but it definitely needed more dressing. The asparagus was hard and really lacked seasoning. The ribeye was a decent size but it also lacked flavor. I didn't enjoy it. I tried another party member's green beans and it was also lacking in flavor and seasoning. Our server seemed irritated from jump. Her demeanor wasn't warm and seemed cold at times. Smiling is not a requirement but it definitely helps- at least during the initial interaction. The restaurant was dusty with cob webs everywhere and looks as if it hasn't been deep cleaned in a while (see photos). Overall, it was a lackluster outing for my first experience at this chain and unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it.

Reservations at 6 pm on a Monday night. We were greeted with a friendly smile and seated right away. Fresh bread placed on our table. Warm and soft. Our waitress, Alena, was very attentive and nice! Helpful with menu suggestions. Always came to check on us. Food came out in a decent amount of time. I was excited to try my filet. I was craving a nice steak. Wow! It was like butter in my mouth! Medium rare is how I like it cooked. Black Angus didn't disappoint! Decor was very nostalgic. And, it was pretty busy for a Monday night too! I know where I'll be next time I crave a steak!

Stopped by this place for happy hour. Got a really good deal on a delicious wine and husband enjoyed the Texas tea. We also shared some potato skins. It was a super laid-back atmosphere and we received excellent service We used to come here many years ago and it was nice to come back and see that everything was just as good as it was before.

The service manager Christian was a real piece of work. He was extremely rude when I asked to get my burnt but somehow RAW steak sent back. I cut into my steak right when I got it and noticed the inside was completely raw and cold to the touch while the outside was pretty much charred. The waitress said she would take it back ASAP and was very nice and understanding about the situation. Not sure why, but the service manager named CHRISTIAN was called over. He asked what was wrong with it. I promptly showed him my disgusting, basically still mooing, couple of stitches and it's good to go back out to the field, steak that was supposed to be medium rare. He got extremely upset very quickly and said that according to their "standards", that was in fact medium rare. It absolutely was not. This steak had a a charred outside, cold inside, with a gray ring around the edges about 2mm from the exterior. Mind you, i've ordered a medium rare ribeye from TXRH every time i've been there and it has never looked like this. Medium rare steaks should be a darkish pink and slightly warm edge to edge. I explained to him that this was not in fact a medium rare steak and that it was obviously rushed work and that I would not be eating it. He continued to try and mansplain medium rare steaks to me and i was like yo can you just send it back please, keeping my composure while he was getting increasingly frustrated and was not taking me seriously. I explained to him why each part of the steak looked the way it did and how something can come off the grill burnt on the outside while still raw on the inside, the heat was obviously too high which is what caused the gross gray ring around the nearly purple insides. I explained to him that if they didn't have time to cook a steak properly, I would just order something else off the menu. He kept rolling his eyes and arguing with me over the rawness of my "steak" until he eventually gave in and just took it back. The waitress was extremely nice and made sure I liked the new steak and apologized for the previous steak. CHRISTIAN, the service manager did not come over to my table again or apologize, but he did give me nasty looks from all across the restaurant for the rest of the time I was there.

She patiently explained the menu and answered all of our questions. We ordered across the menu: a ribeye, a filet, the salmon, and one of the daily specials, scallops. We also ordered the Brie and bacon jam appetizer and one of our party had a Caesar Salad. There were a couple of substitutions: extra spinach instead of mashed potatoes with the salmon and fingerling potatoes instead of the mashed potatoes with the ribeye. I ordered the Brussels sprouts as well. Everything was delicious and prepared exactly as ordered. The proteins were substantial, well worth the price. We tried two desserts, the crème brûlée and the banana cheesecake. They matched the quality of the entrees. Everyone remarked on how great the sourdough bread that was brought to the table was. As the ladies in our party said, you could make a meal out of the bread along with some cheese and wine. We were seated in one of the side rooms, which didn't seem to hinder the service at all. Our water glasses were promptly refilled. It was a great experience.

FOOD we started with the chilled prawn cocktail. the prawns were fantastic, and the cocktail sauce was divine. we jumped into a cup of lobster bisque; which was something i was looking forward to. unfortunately, the soup tasted like a very bland tomato fish soup. ugh. it lacked flavor and i don't think there was hardly any lobster in it. major bummer! we go the surf and turf (with lobster), the rib eye, and mushrooms and brussels to accompany the steaks. TONS of food, which was nice (especially for the price)! both steaks were ordered medium rare; the filet was cooked as ordered and the rib eye was on the medium/medium well side. however, the major bummer with the rib eye was the menu states well marbled but the steak gas VERY fatty when you're paying $62 for a USDA prime, "well-marbled" (per the menu's description) steak, the last thing i'd expect is to describe the steak as more fatty then marbled. the sides were great; the garlic mashed potatoes with the soy wasabi sauce were incredible! SERVICE our server started out very attentive and progressively we saw him less and less throughout the night; waiting for the check, needing water refills, etc. i get that everyone has busy tables and the F&B industry is having a tough time, but dang. at a place like this, i'd expect top notch service throughout the dining experience! AMBIANCE it's very nice inside. super cool bar when you first walk in. lots of spacious seating so you're not sitting on top of one another and modern decor. after having worked in F&B, i totally understand the industry; some nights people call out, larger parties consume the kitchen, etc. but for the price, nothing really seemed to blow us out of the water :( hopefully it was just a bad night that we went. it has a great reputation for a reason! hoping the next visit is a better experience!

That said, I think there may be a bit of a missed opportunity with the bocce ball courts. There are large signs saying kids can't play on them and must stay with adults, but honestly, I come here at least once a quarter and they're often not being used. Given the location and the number of families in the area, it could be interesting to consider adding a small playground in the back. I know that might sound unconventional for a place like this, but I've seen restaurants do this successfully in Europe. What's really missing around here is a place where parents can enjoy an incredible meal and drinks while their kids have a safe place to play nearby. Right now, the only places that come close are breweries. There are almost always families here when I visit, so just a thought! Either way, Shangri-La remains one of my favorite spots.

They have an amazing happy hour menu that goes until 10 Pm. The prime rib tacos were SO amazing, not spicy, so flavorful and the texture of the corn salsa added so much to the whole bite. The garlic fries were fantastic, loaded with chopped garlic (jarred kind), parsley and parm. We also tried the loaded potato skins, they were great but I was pretty full by the time they came so we left a wounded soldier. The tumbleweed onion straws were also fantastic! My friends ordered prime rib, kabobs and the filet mignon and were nice enough to share! The prime rib is served on a sizzling plate with au jus, and was fantastic! The filet was well seasoned and the kabobs were good, although I prefer a little more rare. The appetizer happy hour menu had $6 and $8 items, food and drinks. The howdy beer was $4 and was pretty decent! My friends loved the $6 raspberry lemon drops! Above all of this though, our server was amazing. She worked her butt off for us and really made our visit Amazing. I'm the worst and only caught that her name started with a J, and she'd been there for 20 years. She was so attentive and recommended amazing dishes. I can't wait for our next annual trip, this place just became part of my tradition!

Our server Jenna was quick to explain the specials, and made a few recommendations. She took our orders and got us some drinks and an appetizer. Our entrees came a little later and everything was spot-on. I had the ribeye and my wife had the shrimp. After starting with appetizers and salad, we tried or best to finish our main courses but failed. We took what we couldn't finish home in to-go boxes. Thanks Jenna! for checking in with us and making sure we had everything we needed. I would definitely recommend Cattlemen's for a date night dinner, or even a family dinner. (Get there early!)

Unfortunately, the experience was a bit disappointing this time around. The menu changed a bit and they no longer serve the shrimp tempura and the salmon entrees. Overall, the food was good but not memorable. The dessert was average. The restaurant strived for an upscale vibe backed by the menu price but was unfortunately not by the service. Our server seems a bit scattered and indifferent. One of our guest ordered a pour and a half of a red wine and got a half pour portion. Our little one wanted filet mignon but didn't really care for the sides that come with the entree. So the server told us they can do just the protein and it will be about $27 for the plate to which we were ok with. The food came out as a full entree with the sides. When questioned, the server was non- apologetic. Our little tyke ended up with the most expensive item on the bill at $55! Sad to say that after our meal, we unanimously decided this restaurant will be off our list.

The restaurant was decorated festively and looked out on the brightly lit tree in the renovated Fair Oaks Village square. Most of the tables were full, but our party of two was promptly seated. As the owner whisked between tables taking orders, delivering food and chatting with the customers we perused the menu that is largely Italian classics mixed with flavors and methods from Peru and some Spanish tapas standards. The unique menu is a roadmap to the owner's life story, a Peruvian with an Italian grandfather and a passion for food and gatherings, trained in Spanish restaurants in the Bay Area. We enjoyed a cheese fondue to start (neither Italian nor Peruvian but delicious), then we shared a special of Italian noodles with steak bites in a cheesy sauce with aji pepper. It was so unique and truly delicious we nearly licked the plate clean! For dessert we shared a tiramisu. It was wonderful. The sponge was neither too dry nor soggy, the cream had wonderful flavor and it was the perfect amount to share. We will definitely look for a chance to return on a night they're sure to be open, and until then we'll remember fondly our surprise meal at this lovely spot!

The first thing I thought was, "I could easily come here alone, grab a glass of wine or a beer, watch part of a game, and just relax for a while." They had the NBA game on at the bar, but it didn't overpower or distract from the atmosphere of the restaurant itself. The dining room is made up of small tables with couples and friends quietly enjoying their meals and conversations. It has that kind of warm, comfortable energy that makes you want to slow down a little, settle in, and stay longer than you planned. Not every restaurant has to be loud or trendy to stand out. Sometimes a cozy, welcoming atmosphere and a good meal are enough. Definitely check this place out.
