Beefy London restaurant chain, Black and Blue, have added a Fitzrovian addition to its portfolio of outlets. Hallmarks of this latest B and B include spacious outdoor seating, large slabs of meat at good-value prices and pretty decent service (if you've been to any of the handful of other Black and Blues, you can expect the same from this one).
No reason to go here if a vegetarian and if you're craving a proper steak, there are plenty of better options for about the same price. Still, I was Londonist was there upon invitation and were pleased enough with my filling lunch on a recent visit. Starters such as crispy chicken tenders with barbecue sauce and butterfly prawns in crisp breadcrumbs will never be the talk of the town but nonetheless they are tasty and served with speed, while 600 grams of bone in forerib cote de boeuf (with chips and a particularly and surprisingly nice house salad and some béarnaise and peppercorn sauces) hits the spot even for two full grown, breakfast-skipping men. Puds seem kinda on the expensive side until you see how massive they are.
It's conveniently located, it's spacious with a brilliant outdoor seating area. It's a steakhouse, far better than those ubiquitous red glowers we all avoid and not that much inferior to some of the more celebrated carnivore lairs around town. read more
