First time actually being in the food court downtown Brooklyn. A number of variety of foods to choose from and a great and pleasant atmosphere. So I decided on BK JANI, It didn't disappoint. The backyard burger was good and the fried chicken (spicy) sandwich as well. Definitely a spot worth checking out if you enjoy a burger and chicken sandwich.
Side note: Submitted to change the listing to Pakistani, burgers, and halal just like their other locations. Anyway, this is a Pakistani burger place with a few other locations with the original one being in Williamsburg and there also being a location in the similarly fancy The Hugh in Midtown East. They take American classics and add fun twists to them. If you're planning on getting a burger and want to spend a bit less and try their excellent masala fries, I would highly recommend going here during lunch. Otherwise, they have excellent lamb chops. Perfectly tender with a good amount of spice and some cucumber yogurt/raita on the side to tone down the heat. Same score as their other location at The Hugh but I prefer the other one in terms of both seating and ambiance.
Tried the ye burger and the grilled chicken sandwich. There were a few very subtle hints of exciting pakistani flavors in there but for the most part it was boring. I regretted choosing to eat here over the many other fun options at the food hall. Wasn't bad, I just expected to like it more.
We were in the DeKalb market hall and BK Jani caught our eye. We got the chicken sandwich with fries, and it tasted fantastic. The food is also halal, which is always a plus.
Almost every time I'm in Brooklyn, I hit up the food hall and eat the 808 burger. The food hall has amazing options, and great service all throughout. It's bright, well lit, and spacious. But, who am I kidding? The burger could be served out of the trunk of a car and I'd still eat it. It's spicy, cooked to perfection, and packed with umami. Very rarely do I get a burger that didn't require at least some customization: this is an exception. It's perfect. Just get two patties and not not one and you'll have no regrets.
I'd seen this burger on so many lists and was excited to finally try it this weekend. It was cooked perfectly (medium rare, though they do ask you your preference), and the combination of toppings was very unique. Not your average burger for sure! It has a little bit of a kick to it which I really enjoyed. I was also hoping to try the fried chicken sandwich since it also looked delicious, but unfortunately they were out of stock... guess I'll have to come back!
I ordered their lunch special, comes with burger, fries and a can of soda. Price is pretty good. Burger is juicy & very tasty, fries is crispy and got good flavored on it. I love the 808 Burger, with the sautéed jalapeno it got a good kick out of that not too spicy just enough for a good taste. Yes, I would definitely going back to try other burger too.
A disappointing visit to the Dekalb Market location. We arrived a little after lunchtime on a Saturday and most all the specialty condiments were out, limiting what you could order. You'd think a place that is/was known for their signature burger, they'd be able to sell it all day long and not run out the two condiments that make the burger! Ended up with the basic burger offering which was a burger with a solid cook and a thick slice of tomato. Meh... Didn't even realize that they forgot the lettuce, cheese, pickles.

Atmosphere: I love the design of the place, this is a good spot for a hangout with friends. Possible sate spot if your date likes burgers and lamb chops. Food: Only downside is the place is a little on the pricier side for burgers. But the burger and lamb chops were real juicy. I definitely recommend The Jani and the lamb chops. If you like spicy food, the sauce is great too. I think the lamb chops taste amazing without the green sauce, though. Service: The workers were funny and nice. We also came around 30 minutes til closing and they still had the kitchen open. Overall good experience. read more
BK JANI is focussing their menu on burgers and sandwiches now. I tried the 808 (without Jalapeños) as it comes with my favorite cheese sharp cheddar and roasted garlic. They cooked the patties medium as I requested and it tasted great, only the bun got really soggy making it very messy to eat. The sweet potato fries also tasted good although I'd have liked them to be a little more crunchy. Overall, the food is good and the service was very friendly, but it is rather expensive for a takeout burger. read more

Stopped by Dekalb Market and this caught my eye because of the mint chutney on the burger. Overall a smallish menu which makes choosing the food easy. The staff wasn't really helpful, but whatever. Just quietly worked in the back and didn't ask anyone if they were ready to order or acknowledge anyone - seemed like they were busy/slammed. Burger I ordered was the Jani - one side has mint chutney and the other side has raita (yogurt). Ordered it spicy and it indeed did have a kick, very bearable. The burger was cooked medium rare as it should have been. The meat was juicy and flavorful and the combination of sauces was something I've never had with a burger so I enjoyed it. A bit pricy, at 16$ for a burger WITHOUT fries (cmon now). I'd stop by again to try the other stuff if I was craving a burger. read more

Everything was so fresh and delicious. I ordered the Jani and small masala fries. I ordered very spicy for the Jani, and boy did they deliver lol. The green chutney flavor was really fresh and delicious. I do wish it came in a 4oz option like the other burgers, cuz it was kinda hard to eat and I wasn't able to finish it. Also, a little bit of raw onion on it would've made it perfect, but that's just personal preference. The fries were fresh out of the frier, haven't had good fries in a while, and these were perfectly crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Also, they have homemade ketchup! It was delicious, you could really taste the tomato. I do wish it was slightly smoother and less chunkier tho. But I can't wait to go back and try the other burgers on their menu! read more
People, we need a universal spice scale. There are just too many different entities offering food using entirely different barometers for what constitutes "mild," medium," and "hot." There's the American Scale, by which I mean Taco Bell and how it offers packets of sauce at Hot, Fire, and Diablo...none of which are particularly spicy at all. There's the Thai Scale, on which medium can mean inedible for my wife, and "brutally spicy" can mean they know I stole a t-shirt when I worked at that retail store when I was 14, and they are just now bringing the wrath of the gods down upon me as punishment.* There's the Clown Scale, by which I mean the woman in front of me at BK Jani who was returning her fries because they had black pepper on them because she asked for "no spice" and she's the only person that thinks black pepper is spicy. (BK Jani Staff, you guys are heroes for dealing with her so nicely.) And there's the actual BK Jani scale, where the hanger steak roll that is "medium" spicy is actually hot as hell, but in the most delicious of ways. I don't actually have a solution to this problem, but if you made it all the way down here I think you should go check BK Jani out. The hanger steak is a perfect medium rare (if you ask for it that way), and the wrap (not really wrapped) is filled with spicy deliciousness. Been hearing great reviews about this place.. seeing videos about how good the burgers were... so I was in BK NY and decided to try.. the burger was ok but not worth the price!! Shake shack still better and leading the pac!! The service was like ordering from McDonald's! read more
Placed an order for pickup here on a weekday. When I arrived I was a little bit concerned because there was only one person there working and there seemed to be a few orders going on at once, so I worried there'd either be a long wait or our food would be sitting and not fresh. The wait was a little past the expected time (which the staff realized and offered a free drink on him to make up for it, super nice). The real test was walking back home to see if everything was still fresh. To our surprise, it sure was. Chrissy chicken sandwich was still hot, and very crispy. Bread, lettuce, tomato, pickles all still fresh. Fries were still hot and very crispy. They even came with a seasoning that had a nice kick. Grilled chicken sandwich was similar to the fried, still nice and hot, great flavor, great quality. I was pleasantly surprised with the entire experience. Food was high quality and prepared well. Really enjoyed the unique flavors and will certainly be back again. read more

Wow this place is amazing. The pictures surrounding the booth made me decide to try this place, particularly the steak. Though the steak was not as large a portion as I hoped, each piece was tender, cooked perfectly at medium rare, and sprinkled with enough spices to make my steak and masala fried the perfect end to my long day. It was my first one at this market hall and this was the chosen place for dinner and I was blown away. The veggies were also very good, so definitely try the fries and veggies. Sadly they had run out of the cumin rice so we couldn't try that. I can't wait to come back. read more

Came to dekalb market with hubby specifically for bk jani. Got the ye burger and the masala fries. It was very average. We usually get the bk jani burger and the lamb chops and it's always delicious! Had to try something else this time. read more

Went in the basement of this place and was surprised by all the good eating spots. The chicken Sammich at this place caught my eye and it taste just as amazing as it looked. Top 5 chicken sammiches for me read more

I rarely post reviews of my food, but making an exception because I honestly see this as a public service announcement. The hangar steak at BK JANI is without a doubt the most delicious steak I've ever had and I'm from Iran, where we take our meat very seriously. Would definitely recommend this place. read more

My mouth is currently on fire as I eat the chicken Tikka roll. I asked for the least spicy version possible, but I guess this food is just inherently ridiculously, mouth aching spicy! Although spicy, I found the food lacking in flavor, if that's possible. Chicken is very tender and the roll itself is yummy with an interesting texture, but the spiciness is just too much for me, so I will not be returning here. read more

Food: 7/10 Service: 7/10 Atmosphere: 5/10 BK Jani is fairly centrally located in the Dekalb Market Hall, and offers up a handful of Pakistani options. Virtually everything on the menu is grilled, and at least for my order, my steak went down as soon as I finished paying. From what I can see, the quality of the meat looks pretty decent, and it appears that their ingredients are fresh and well-maintained. I ordered the hangar steak roll, expecting something like a stuffed pita - to my surprise I actually essentially got an 8oz steak with some yogurt sauce sitting atop of bed of veg resting on a flat bread about the same size as the steak itself! This definitely didn't make for the most portable of meals, but it's hard to complain about the value. Overall the flavors were pretty nice, and the cook on the steak was good, but beware that the menu items can be a bit more sit-down than grab-n-go. read more

I wonder what the BK stands for . This is one of the more delicious options at Dekalb Market. Their masala fries are delicious. Everything is well spiced. The burger is thick, moist, and flavorful. The mint chutney adds a unique and refreshing twist to it. It was a super satisfying meal. I will definitely be back to try their chicken tikka. read more

My friend took me to BK Jani and I fell in LOVE with the burger. I feel like whenever I hear about this place, people just raving about the lamb chops, which I must say are great. But I do feel as though the burger is so underrated, around me I guess. The burger here is the best burger I've ever had. It's cooked perfectly and it's very flavorful as well. When you see the burger itself, you don't think it will be anything special but I am here to tell you otherwise. Please try it along with the lamb chops and maybe the masala fries. The masala fries are good too. My experience with masala fries hasn't been that great because every place I've been to, the masala is just too much and it ends up giving me a stomachache. Bk Jani's masala fries have the perfect amount of masala. Also, if you're curious, Dekalb Market has another Bk jani restaurant which is equally as good. Of course you won't be greeted in a formal restaurant but if you're around, and want to try the food, do it. The quality and taste is the same. read more

Really disappointing, the food took quite long. Its located at the food court at city point by trader joes. I got the ye cheese single patty burger and my friend got the friend chicken burger. I wanted mine done medium well but it was definitely less cooked. There was some weird taste coming through that I couldn't pinpoint. My friends burger was also very disappointing, there was a big chunk of spices clumped together. I wouldn't recommend this place, I had high hopes going in. read more
