On that stretch of Metropolitan Ave, you have a lot of options, but Reverie really stands out if you want a brunch spot that feels a little more stylish and special without losing the relaxed Brooklyn energy. Reverie is a vegan restaurant and cocktail bar in Williamsburg, so it already fills a great niche in the neighborhood. The place itself was super cute and had a great brunch feel. We sat on the bench in the corner, which made it feel cozy and gave the whole meal a great energy. The room is polished, warm, and definitely the kind of place that works whether you're doing a casual brunch, meeting friends, or showing someone one of your favorite Williamsburg spots. We ordered the pastrami croissant, bacon egg and cheese, and the herb frittata. The pastrami croissant was easily the winner at the table -- great flavor, great texture, and absolutely worth ordering. Everything else was excellent too, but what really surprised me was the tomato salad that came with the herb frittata. It was insanely good, and the dressing was perfectly balanced. This is the kind of place that reminds you why the Williamsburg brunch scene is so good when it's done right. If you're looking for a vegan brunch in Brooklyn, especially around Williamsburg / Metropolitan Ave, Reverie is absolutely worth it. Highly recommend.

This 100% plant based restaurant serves Ethiopian food and has some of the best unique flavor profiles I have ever tried. Food Ordered - Mercato Platter --This plate came with a lentil stew, ground chick peas, collard greens, and a pepper/carrot veggie medley. Everything in the platter was amazing - super flavorful and hearty. - Spiced Mac and Cheese --If you told me this Mac and Cheese was dairy free I would think you are trying to pull a fast one. The sauce was super creamy and light and had that amazing cheesy flavor. - Chefs Special --The Chefs Special was the star of the show for me! This dish was Kitfo covered in collar greens and avocado with the most amazing smoky sauce. All of the ingredients went together amazing to create a perfect bite.

HAAM continues to be one of my favorite vegan restaurants in the city. They recently revamped their…read moremenu, keeping some of the original favorites while adding several new dishes. I was a little disappointed to see the skirt steak from my first visit was no longer available, but that quickly disappeared once I tried the mofongo. The mofongo had bits of tempeh bacon mixed throughout and was topped with oyster mushrooms. The plantain was sweeter than the traditional green plantain mash I'm used to, but I actually loved that twist. The oyster mushrooms were seasoned so well they reminded me of chicharrón, while the tempeh bacon added the smoky, savory element that mofongo traditionally gets from pork cracklings. What really tied the dish together was the creamy coconut curry, which gave it a delicious Caribbean-inspired twist. The entire dish was creative, comforting, and incredibly flavorful. I'll definitely be back again soon.

I did wait about five minutes before someone greeted me. The restaurant wasn't busy, but it looked like the servers were also handling hosting duties. One was bringing food to a table while the other was closing out a check. Once someone was available, I was seated by a very friendly hostess. I ordered the chimichurri steak, and it was excellent. It was easily my favorite part of the meal, and I'd definitely order it again. The person I was with ordered the curry goat and substituted the roti for beans and rice. They really enjoyed it, but we both felt the portion was too small for the price. The quality was there, but I do think the serving could be a bit more generous. We also ordered an appetizer that disappeared almost as soon as it hit the table because it was so good. I also had the Island Onigiri, which I really enjoyed, along with a passion fruit drink that paired well with the meal. Everything tasted fresh and was cooked perfectly. The only small thing I noticed was that the restaurant was a bit chilly, and I felt like my food cooled down pretty quickly because of it.  The music was great, the atmosphere was relaxed, and overall I had a really good experience. There are still quite a few things on the menu I want to try, so I'll definitely be back and will update this review after another visit.

On an unusually warm day in March, they set up the classy outdoor seating. I asked the server for recommendations - the menu is great for sharing and trying lots of different dishes, but I didn't want to overwhelm myself with too many calories. She was a gem and suggested: Eggplant Pkhali - I really love this vegan dip of eggplant, walnuts, roasted onion, garlic, coriander, pomegranate molasses, cilantro and pomegranate. It comes with fresh bread, that is crunchy outside and pillowy soft inside. It's perfection, refreshing, toothsome, and vegan! Khinkali - beef and pork soup dumplings were well folded, savory, and soupy on the inside. Red currant mocktails - pretty and refreshing! They also have an extensive wine, beer, and cocktail menu. I have also been here for lunch and had a number of other dips and salads and loved what I got. Chama Mama is great for a date or friends. I believe they will rent out the full restaurant for events. The vibe feels upscale yet simple, and everything is delicious. Prices are in the teens for appetizers and $30+ per entree. Recommend.

Before the main even arrives you're already happy! The pickled vegetables, baba ganoush, cabbage salad and olives kept things exciting from the start. The Steak Shishlik was the real moment though, beautifully charred, tender and served on a metal platter with pickled red onions and sumac tahini. Just really solid, satisfying dish. Drinks were a vibe too. The Pomegranate Cosmo was deep pink, orchid-topped and delicious. The Hot Crush brought a bright kiwi flavor with just enough spice to keep it interesting. And the Brown Sugar Soft Serve with halva oat crumble to finish? Light, a little crunchy and the perfect ending.

Overall, I'd give the experience a 4/5 for the service, atmosphere, views, and overall vibe. If I were rating the food alone, though, I'd say it was good, but not quite mind-blowing. I also have a strong feeling there's probably a noticeable difference between lunch and dinner service, although I can't say for sure. We went with the prix fixe menu. The salatim, hummus, and pita are unlimited, which is a great deal. The hummus was excellent--smooth, flavorful, and easily one of my favorite parts of the meal. The pita was fresh, warm, and constantly replenished. Among the salatim, I especially enjoyed the fennel and cabbage salad and the cucumber salad. The olive-cornichon mix and the pickled vegetables were good, but didn't stand out as much. For mains, the spicy lamb kofta was very good--well-seasoned, juicy, and served with a generous portion of tahini that was way more than needed. They also bring a small bowl of buttery cilantro rice for the table, which is a thoughtful touch, although honestly the unlimited pita was more than enough. The one disappointment was the brisket dog. We ordered it expecting something special, but it was surprisingly dry. The challah bun completely overwhelmed the sausage, and the cabbage topping plus crispy fried onions didn't add any moisture. The accompanying sauce was tahini-based, so it leaned dry as well instead of balancing everything out. On the bright side, it came with incredibly crispy fries and a delicious house ketchup that tasted much better than a standard bottled ketchup. Dessert was the soft serve, which was perfectly fine but nothing particularly memorable. For drinks, the mango cocktail with chili and lime was refreshing and hard to dislike. I also tried the fig arak drink. It was good and exciting to try, but I realized I'm just not much of a star anise person, so it wasn't really my style. The standout of the night was the restaurant's namesake cocktail, something wolf. Even though it's made with arak, I barely noticed it. The rum, passion fruit, and tropical flavors came together beautifully, making it taste like something you'd happily sip on a beach. Easily my favorite thing I drank that evening. Overall, given so many great restaurants in Brooklyn I might not come back to this but will say that it would be amazing to do a big group meal here - especially with the gorgeous views. Aesthetics on point for sure :)
