Foodway is a large gourmet supermarket located in Georgetowne Plaza in the Flatlands section of Brooklyn. It used to be part of the Fairway family, but was sold to Key Food during bankruptcy. The produce department is so big it puts Farmer's markets to shame. They have a wide selection of tropical items, including multiple varieties of avocados, mangoes, figs, and root vegetables. Persimmon, jicama, and star fruit are always in stock. A large selection of cut fruit is available as well - even dragon fruit. Beyond the produce is the impressive cheese section carrying both domestic and international options. And if they don't have something you can ask the part-time cheesemongers to order it for you. The seafood and butcher staff are some of the most knowledgeable and patient people I've ever spoken with period! They look like they genuinely enjoy what they do and it shows. Live lobsters are available (which is not my thing since I'm allergic to shellfish) and I've noticed them going for $11 a pound lately. Lamb, duck, and goat are regularly available. And the largest turkey legs I've ever seen! Check the pictures. They're huge! Fresh squeezed juices, smoothies, and tonics are available at the juicery. This is also where they keep the kombucha, probiotics, and immunity shots. The prepared foods and Deli are my favorite sections. They offer custom salads to order, pizzas, and stromboli. The hot foods bar is a must - offering a rotating selection of high quality entrees and sides. Two soups and a handful of salads are also on offer not to mention multiple grab and go items. They're not known for sales, but their prices are pretty competitive for the area. There are after all 3 other markets on the same street including a recently expanded Key Food. Go figure! read more

Foodway has been the main place we shop, and the fruit, Vegetables Meats and Seafood have always been top shelf! The service has been excellent and despite today's encounter with a cashier who obviously thinks bagging groceries is beyond their job description- after a few nasty responses it was necessary to alert management; they apologized and told me enough to bypass that individual next time..if there will be a next time.... But it's a great place overall; a worthy successor to the previous establishment. read more

I had a bad experience trying to get help on the Self serve pay line. I was a little confused about how to ring up the fruit. I was in a bit of a rush and didn't understand her instructions. I asked her to please just ring up the fruit for me and she said you can go pay on the other line with a cashier if you can't do this. I was shocked at her rudeness. If she doesn't want to help why is she in this position. By the way it was a Monday or Tuesday at around 12:30 pm when this happened this passed week. read more

This review is focused the smoked fish counter located inside Food Way Market. One of the best places to get smoked salmon in Southern Brooklyn. I believe all of their smoked fishes are sourced from Acme. Great variety of smoked and cured salmons as well as other smoked fishes and spreads. read more

Roaches in wonderbread. I've shopped at the Ralph Ave. store since they opened. Never had a problem until a few days ago. Purchased a Wonder bread, my wife looked at it 2 days later and before she opened it saw 2 roaches, one large and one small. I took a picture a through the bread away.I don't want roaches in my house. Complained to the store manager on 01/20/24 about 4:00 PM and even though he came over eating a big bowl of food I explained what happened and that I am a very good customer. He rudely asked if I had the receipt and no I didn't save the receipt. This was a wonder bread that cost just a few dollars. I never needed to save a receipt for groceries.I told him that he is going to loose a good customer that spends a few hundred dollars a week at this location. Please feel free to look up my store card and see how loyal I was. I also told him I was going to complain to social media about this. I wrote up the mask wearing situation several months ago when it was Fairway. Huge fan of the market. Use to but loads of food for private jets. I called their Headquaters and never got a reply. I have not gone back because the manager did not even have it over his nose. I go back now and the same staff is there.. Less workers are wearing their mask properly. Even where they made food. I saw one walk back from behind the counter with no mask on all. I said something and she got in my face like she wanted to fight. The same manger from months back did not have his mask over his nose. And when I asked him he continued to wear it under his nose. Foodway you can not even call to complain. I will never shop there again. Please buy from groceries stores who care about their employees and customers health. Shame on Foodway. read more

I left a review about a year ago regarding how they have black customers followed around this store, I assume to make sure we don't steal. Afterall, we're all potential thieves!! I vowed that I would never shop there again, but the Manager of the store had reached out to me after the first review, which I appreciated, asking that I give the store another chance. Today to my regret, I gave the store another chance, and I experienced the same thing again!! I didn't even realize that I was being followed as I had no reason to suspect so, until my partner pointed out a grey haired female, who seemed to turn up everywhere we went in the store. She even made sure we made it to the register, to make sure we paid for our groceries! How insulting and demeaning!! Meanwhile, we noticed a lady in one of the isles stuffing her bag with groceries and no one was around at that time to do a thing about it!! They were too worried about us being the thieves!! It's nothing but racial profiling!! I will never enter that store again!! I will also encourage friends and love ones to steer clear as well!! You are following the wrong people!! This rating is only for their seafood department, which is exceptionally solid. They can be a little high-priced depending on the market, but at least they have a broad selection. Easy parking and depending on the day, you can get in an out without a long line. They also have a decent hot bar for people who want to grab & go. read more

This place is the perfect definition of "Hit Or Miss". One day you come here and the employees are great, helpful, polite and you can swear you're never going anywhere else. Then come back the very next day and have a completely different experience with the same group of ppl. The salad bar is great but the little man behind there is angry with life. I have to admit, I was ready to be extra tough on the newly opened FOOD WAY supermarket in the Georgetown Shopping Center's Fairway space. The Fairway chain filed for bankruptcy in January and this store was not sold in the package to the vendor keeping the Fairway name. Apparently, this store was sold to a Key Food operator. I therefore expected a standard, overpriced -nothing special- supermarket that most Key Foods are in my opinion. (One can remember the last store here before Fairway was a filthy, overpriced Waldbaums). I was ready to pounce on everything in this store, but was pleasantly surprised. AS soon as I approached and walked in, if I didn't know better, it seemed like I was in Fairway. Everything was intact and the prices were the about same as Fairway's. * The Olive Bar was there- at half the size , with the other half pre-packed olives. I take this as a COVID 19 precaution as opposed to the change in ownership. * Cheeses, bulk items, produce, seafood, butcher... all where they were. They even had a house brand of Kosher meats, which was unique to Fairway and a nice surprise. * The bakery & appetizing were there in the usual spots. * Selection seemed virtually the same- items you expect at a more upscale market like Fairway, Trader Joes, & Whole Foods... but not at your standard Stop & Shop or Key Food. (Though no Fairway branded items apparent.) So, while it's not Fairway... the new Food-Way owners did their best to keep most things that made Fairway unique. Yes.. prices are higher here on average than Stop & Shop and Shop Rite... BUT the quality and selection... the lay out ...is on par with Fairway. (The prices are similar to Fairway's as well...about what you'd pay at Foodtown, Key Food, C Town or other smaller chains... but Food Way kept the Fairway quality so it is worth it on the items unique to this store & I caught so very good specials too!) Love their fresh ground coffee section. Was worried this would not be available with the ownership change. Not too many places where you can find Indonesia Sumatra. I usually buy in the city during my commute through grand central but with COVID I am working from home so this is truly essential for me. Also love their fresh flowers, which I purchase often. And even better there is parking and other stores in the vicinity. Confused about the weekend hours though! I thought they were open but I usually go during the weekdays. I too was skeptical ... but the new Food Way is so good, you'll think it is Fairway! Everything at Food Way is just about as it was when this location opened as a Fairway early in 2017. While they don't have the Fairway brand (not that I noticed) all of the other specialty items are still here. All the departments: Produce, meats, kosher meats, bakery, seafood. appetizing are still here and feature the same high quality. Their prices and quality are the same as fairway. They also have some good sales too. I am most pleased with Food Way. I was afraid it would become another substandard supermarket. Happily it remains a high quality upscale type store like fairway was. Foodway is a welcome addition to Georgetown to keep up the trend Fairway brought to our area. (I too remember the horrible Waldbaum's that was once here.) I was very impressed to find two products here at Foodway that I only found at the Fairway stores: Lidia's Pasta Sauces, and Real Salt sea salt. Food Way is the best!!! read more

Have be3n to this Georgetowne market a few times without any problems until this past week. Bought 2 small rice milk for my wife. I don't use that stuff. Yesterday, Sept 14 she took the cap off the first container and the seal was broken. Opened the second one, same problem. I took them back to the store and I was told, rather bluntly that they accepted no returns because of Covid. So I simply left @nd vowed to shop somewhere else. I lost th3 money, they lost a customer. With good public relations / Cust. service, they would have accepted the loss and keep the customer happy. For a few dollars....their loss is much greater then mine. My grocery bill is approximately $3000 a year. read more
