We brought a group here for a graduation dinner and everyone absolutely loved it! The restaurant has a really cool vibe and tons of seating! Menu is huge, so everyone is bound to find something they like, and we really appreciated that they had a special gluten-free menu for those who need it. There's spinach and artichoke dip was a great appetizer, and you can never go wrong with the mozzarella sticks! They bring Generous portions so this is great for sharing with four people or more. Everyone loved their entrées, all the food came out really hot, which was awesome. You cannot come here and not get a pizookie for dessert and wow do they do a great job! My first visit today and I ordered a Wednesday burger special and cup of clam chowder. Our server, Coty helped me navigate the menu and bought out our food quickly. My Clam chowder serving was generous and tasty - with big chucks of clams (no baby clams here!) Our burgers were cooked perfectly by Dave Vaughan - shout out to Dave for 'acing' a complicated order. For the food you get, it's a little pricey but it's a chain, what do you expect? The food is consistently good, and the pizookies are the cherry on top. Hmmmmmm not the best. Wings were ok, asked for extra crispy but they were not. Drinks were good and service was very good. The problem was we ordered 2 of the Seared Ahi Tuna Salads and they must have been running out of the tuna. Look at the attached picture of the salad in their menu and look what we actually got!! The tuna quantity was like 20% of what they show! I told my wife we must have been served the "barbie portion" of the tuna. It just not right they mislead the customer. We ordered our food as a group of 4 at 1:30, and ended up getting served at 2:45 only after waiting for our waitress DAISY (who we witnessed give multiple eye rolls to other customers behind their backs) to check on us after a 30 minute period of neglecting us. Daisy likes to call everyone her friends, but secretly she hates them all. We are of victims of Daisy's severe verbal abuse. The food, overall, was definitely microwaved and/or spat in. My mother ordered a salad that didn't match what the menu entailed at all. It was missing about 1/3 of what was supposed to be in it. Me personally, this place is a complete mess. So much potential, but our server was slow, inattentive and made us question whether we want to return again. We arrived for an early dinner as we hadn't eaten all day in our travels to Cville. Immediately were greeted and seated. Good sign? Nope. Our server was nowhere to be found. We weren't greeted in a timely manner. When we finally were, he (the receipt said Drew was our server, but not sure if that was indeed his name. He was shorter, medium-dark complexion, brown eyes and little bit of dark hair) was pleasant enough and finally got our drink orders. He paid more attention to the booth next to us that had about 5 ppl seated. We got our drinks then placed our order. It even took a long time to receive our orders. Once they were delivered, he never came out to check on us until we were 2/3 finished. One of the orders was completely incorrect and we finally were able to let him know. He took what was left back to the kitchen and they verified that the sauce was not what was ordered. What he did do correctly was offer to replace and he gave us a complimentary dessert. That was a kind gesture for the mistake. We had to wait to ask for refills, for the check, etc. We weren't going to even order dessert bc he took so long every single time he would come to our table! We saw many other servers talking and moving about but he was nowhere to be found the majority of the time. We are generous tippers, but this time he was only tipped a small amount bc of his egregious inattentiveness. Also, the restaurant was practically empty. He told us the kitchen was very short-staffed and he just picks up the orders they prepare. I used to be a server many years ago so I'm aware the servers don't necessarily prepare the food, but they can certainly come out within 2-3 minutes of the food being served to ensure all is well and correct! Not sure we will be returning as our schedule is most often very tight between travel and other obligations when we are in town. On our way back up to Nova from Smith Mountain Lake, we stopped for lunch with our toddler on Memorial Day around 1 or so. We ordered both of the salmon entrees which were cooked perfectly! Both delicious. Our son loved the pepperoni flatbread as well. The avocado egg rolls came out a little burnt but Karl noticed and was quick to get us a redo. The good... the food was on point. We ordered Fried Couscous Mac n Cheese, Prime Rib Dip and the Atlantic Salmon. It was all enjoyable and we sat the bar because the wait for a table was 90 min. I had a bourbon and my partner had 2 pilsners and our bill came to $100+ with tip. Our appetizer of the Fried Couscous Mac n Cheese arrived within 10 min and we throughly enjoyed it. What is the bad? Our Prime Rib Dip and the Atlantic Salmon were no where to be seen after a little more then an hour. My partner inquired, the bar keep and the manager spent some time working the register, after a long pause no food or response. I then piped in "How much longer until the food is ready?" Because at this point, with our dog waiting in the car for 1+ hour, we were to settle up and canceled the uncooked food... She couldn't give an answer to our question, but quickly stated the manager is checking on it, as he exits into the kitchen, so we did not get a chance to cancel. Both our meals came out in the manager's hand, just about a full 90 min later after we ordered them. We were offered an apology and an excuse of "We wanted to make sure that your salmon was fresh and cooked right..." Funny how the Prime Rib Dip was kept at detention in the kitchen with the failed salmon and not brought out first, yet the au juice was hot, so the dip was also just made... Customer services is positively insulting. Manager is young and inexperienced and rather than making things right, was simply trying to shrug fault. We are your customers, we want to give you our money today and another day. Show us you appreciate us and want us back! You said something that seemingly got BJ's off the hook for the delay, we are not inspectors... You didn't say or do anything that made us feel better as customers who sat and waited dinner for 1.5 hours! A cursory sorry here is just not adequate, not at all. We did meet some nice people at the bar a little after we sat down. They were first a party of 3, but grew to 7 and we voluntarily moved down 3 times for their expanding party. That's when we noticed, they all got their food, 1 plate, 2 plate and 3 plates etc... and we scratched our heads and rubbed our hungry stomachs... It would appear that the order was not put in until we inquired, nearly an hour later. Just own up to the mistake and apologize, that would be winning. Then comp us a dessert, that would have been smart business. The recognition of a mistake and a gesture to make up for it. read more

It took 1.5 hours for two people, the only two people, to eat lunch. We stopped here hoping it would be quick as we had a long driving day, but it seemed as though the wait staff didn't care - and from the photos you can see they had nothing else to do. We came in on a Sunday afternoon and were greeted by the host who sat us pretty much immediately. He informed us there was only one server in the entire dining room since they were short staffed. We totally get it and our server, Corey was fantastic as he had about 40 people/5 tables going. He was pleasant and gave us samples of the bbq sauce and beer to see what we might best like. We come here every couple of months and this time ordered the kids chicken fingers with fruit, boneless wings with yummy bbq sauce and the brown and red ales. So good and we'll be back! Don't come. The service is horrible. The draft taps are all not working. The place was almost empty and still took 10 minutes to get seated. We did have 7 people, but there were plenty of long tables available. It seemed that there were limited servers. Drink delivery was at least 10 minutes and then 10 minutes after I asked for sweeteners. Appetizers delivered with no plates and I had to get up and go to the bar to ask for those. Go elsewhere. The parking lot was full however there was still ample parking available. Upon walking up to the building, the main entrance had signs posted to alert us to use other entrance. The hostess was prompt and friendly upon our arrival and we were seated relatively quickly. We were informed as we were seated that it would be a bit for silverware as they'd been busy a bit earlier and kitchen was a tad behind. It was after this that it slowly started going down hill. It took approximately 15 minutes after being seated for our waiter to come and take drink orders (which we found out then there was no tea available but it was being made which we were ok with). It took about another 15-20 minutes for our drinks to arrive. We placed our meal orders after drinks arrived and it took about an hour for us to get our food. One member of our group had ordered the soup and salad which I was surprised even at how long it took for that to arrive. We had to ask several times for additional silverware for members of our party as we weren't provided with enough when it did arrive. The ranch dressing received with the boneless wings was hot and runny (far from what was expected of ranch dressing). The wings were dry, fries cold, and Dr Pepper was flat. By the time we received our check we were just ready to go due to the poor service that was experienced. We had been preciously during lunch hours and always had a good experience. Well is was a nice atmosphere because it was college night, and they were interviewing local football players and had giveaways. Our server was nice, we were seated as soon as we walked in. My friends and I walked in at 4:30 and the kind hostess greeted us with a smile on her face and led us to our table where we saw.....nothing because the lights were too dim. Our server brought us waters. We apparently didn't have a choice of beverage as he never asked what we would like to drink. He asked us right away what we wanted to eat and when we requested a few more minutes to look at the menu, he proceeded to give us about an hour before returning. When he finally returned, we ordered and then proceeded to wait another hour before receiving our food. Mind you, we are 3 of the 6 customers in the restaurant, and the wait staff outnumbered the customers 3 to 1. At this point my friend's water had been empty for 45 minutes. My other friend ordered a $17 pizza that could be comfortably eaten in two bites. When we tried to ask for refills, our server would cut us off as we were talking to (ironically) respond with "Right away, right away." From there, he disappeared for the next 3-5 business days. I got up from the table to request a dessert menu from the hostess because I knew our server would not be around any time soon for me to ask for one. The next time he came by, we ordered the best part of this dining experience, the Dubai chocolate pizookie. This delicacy quite frankly made the trials and tribulations of this experience worth it. Fast forward (but not actually fast) we receive the check as it is closing in on our second full hour being there. He proceeded to tell us he could not split the check by item, keep in mind he had not asked how we wanted it to be split. Our cards sat on the table yearning to be picked up, while our server was not seen for 20 minutes. At the end of the experience, we felt overall neglected and unimportant. Throughout the night he consistently walked past us without looking our way. At the end, we were upset to leave as it felt like we had made the dinner table our home after spending 2.5 hours there. BE ON THE LOOKOUT - if you get a short man with (a little bit of) dark hair as your server, be prepared to spend your entire night at BJs Brewhouse. If you are pressed for time, I would suggest the nearby Qdoba as a better option. Our server (Drew P by the way) sure knows how to craft a memorable experience for his customers. read more

The only one that works in that entire restaurant is the bartender, all the other ones want to do is joke around play grab ass and sneak out back and get stoned. We saw at least three different groups get up and leave because they had ordered but never got anything.. My advice would be to drug test people while at work or raise their pay to attract quality people that don't live in their parent's basement. I love that we can get a table for 6 at 9:30pm and when we walk in, the servers and bartenders are happy to see us. Our server was Walton and our bartender was Shay and they made our experience beyond wonderful. We're a hard-to-please crowd and they made us feel welcomed, heard and like our silly questions and complicated orders were valid. What a pleasure to be served by these professionals.
