And I'd never been to Dizzy Dean's, even though they've been there for a long time. Anyway, their donuts are not the worst I've ever had but nowhere near the best--if you want that, head a few miles north to Cal's on River Ave. I'm glad I tried Dizzy Dean's because now I know, but I won't need to come back.

The gentleman behind the counter was friendly. The classic donut smell hits as soon as you open the door. The inside is quirky and definitely themed! The shop has lots of pink and black colors. We've only had a couple so far and they've been delicious. The cake donuts are amazing - great flavor, perfectly balanced, fluffy texture. Not oily at all like store-bought cake donuts tend to be. The non-cake donuts are amazing too. We haven't had a single bite that wasn't delicious. I paid $21.25 for a dozen donuts. They only take cash so make sure you have some with you when you go.
