Midway through the sandwich I had to stop, just so I could write a review. I built a custom sandwich. Salami, Prosciutto and Swiss on a Dutch Crunch. Included in this feast was garlic aioli, oil and vinegar and all the veggies. At first glance I wasn't really impressed, but as I dove into the sandwich I could taste all of the different flavors distinctly. The toasted bread complemented the garlic aioli and hot meats. Aside from the delicious sandwich, the counter person was hilarious. I can safely say this is one of my favorite sandwich shops in San Francisco now! A++++ read more

From the outside it doesnt look like much, no real seating to speak of, and their signage doesnt really scream for someone to stop at this place for lunch or dinner. That being said, it would be the biggest mistake not stopping here and getting a "bite" to eat (i know i'm hilarious) I got the Kookooroo because i love basil pesto (which is why i choose quiznos over subway when we have the choice). The sandwich takes a little bit of time to make, but it's well worth the wait. I wish they would let me do 1/2 stars, cause this place is really a 4 1/2 stars. the reason I like the addition of the apple slices because it gave the sandwich a little crunch/texture which any real sandwich or burger really needs.(umami burger could learn a lot from this place, a lot of their burgers are just one mushy bite all the way through) I think the reason I would give this place a 4 1/2 is because of something i thought i would never say, and that is they put on way too much basil pesto aioli on my sandwich. Overall this was probably one of the best places we had on our 4 day trip to san francisco, and that says a lot considering at how many fancy places we ate at. But to be clear, I would gladly eat here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for a month with no problem or ever getting tired of it. read more

So happy with this find. Sandwiches are $9-11 which seem kinda pricey, but these sandwiches are delicious and will last you til dinner. My friend and I were gonna explore the city so grabbed a sandwich each and only finished half. We ate the other half of our sandwiches for dinner after walking around all day. The ladies there make it to order, so depending on how busy it is be prepared to wait for at least 10ish minutes. There are no seats inside but there are a few outside. read more

Amazing sandwiches. Great bread. Fresh vegetables. Homemade, tasty special sauces. My favorite is the Firecracker, but everything I've ever had is off the hook. read more

I got food poisoning! I am here for work and based on the great Yelp reviews grabbed a sandwich for lunch yesterday. A red flag went up when I noticed all the sandwich ingredients (meat, cheese, etc) were out on countertops... Not refrigerated, no air conditioning on a warm day and plenty of flies in the food prep area since the front door was propped open for air flow. I talked myself out of canceling my order... And I'm regretting it today! read more

We came into town for a work conference on Nob Hill. Walked a little ways from the Fairmont and found this hidden gem. The staff was friendly and the food was amazing. This is an inexpensive little lunch spot that seemed to be a hit with the local college students and we definitely enjoyed it enough to go back twice! This place is a win! read more

so bomb im so glad my taxi driver recommended it to me a must try for sure!! i had the mamma mia with avocado but i'll be back for sure to try another sandwich read more

One word: wow! My girlfriend and I ate here late night after the bar during our vacation. These are high quality sandwiches made with fresh ingredients. Granted, we've only eaten here once, but I'm sure I would be hard pressed to find a better sandwich shop in Union Square, especially after hours. Sandwiches are about $8-10 each, but they are well worth it. Bite is a must try for sandwich lovers. read more

I got the good Gouda add jalapenos the other night and I'm still thinking about it we also ordered the uncle vinny meatball sandwich and yum! I can't wait to go back . Only thing, I ordered one of the big pickles and when I got home realized it wasn't with the rest of my order :( next time I've gotta make sure it's in there. read more

I didn't even eat here. I just walked by and saw the size of the sandwiches and was in awe. Will be back to get one haha

The Rotisserie looked good and the Bread was good. I got the Veggie sammich and well, two words: canned mushrooms. How cheap and crappy do you have to be to buy canned mushrooms - they nasty, son! Upgrade all your produce to high-quality and we'll see. I don't think Boar's Head is a mark of quality, am I wrong? Took quite a few minutes at lunch for not being incredibly busy. If you're in the area and want a sandwich, definitely better than Subway. I don't know, am I an ass? read more

i guess i didn't understand that the sandwiches are hot... or that mine was... or something. because i didn't see anything that said it would be, but it sure was. i order the Gotti, subbed in Dutch Crunch and added muffaletta olive spread. in my head, it sounded like an excellent stand-in for the NOLA muffaletta i've been craving for so long. not so much. i mentioned the warmth, which brought out the extreme saltiness of all the separate ingredients. not great. they skimped on the olive spread, which i paid extra for, and totally left off the artichoke hearts (which come on the Gotti). there was also supposed to be salami, but some other mystery meat was subbed in. the guy at the counter, who i think was the owner, was super friendly. i will give this place another shot, esp since it's a block from the job, but the number one sandwich shop in my heart is still molinari's in north beach. read more

I stop here to eat every time I'm in SF. I wished I had one where I live. Used to live right across the street from this place and would get a sandwich like every other day. You can create your own and literally put anything you've ever wanted on it. The meats are amazing! Please, if you want a sandwich, come here. You would not live to regret it read more

As advertised, a great place to get a sandwich in a hurry. I had the Vinny Bag of Donuts. I appreciate the comments by the fellow Yelpers. The place is clean and the cashier/order taker was very professional and efficient. He even suggested that I call the order before heading over to the store. One suggestion: Bite has the right amount of marinara sauce and lettuce for the sandwich. It would be helpful if the bread was a tad smaller to keep it warm a little longer. What a bonanza on the portioning of meatballs, though. Highly recommended and will return. read more

Best sandwiches in the city. The sauces combined with the tender chicken is truly amazing. Took one star away because there is nowhere to sit comfortably. This is a must try! read more

I'm work in public safety in San Francisco and irregular hours keep me on the look out for good food late at night. Bite is one of the best finds I've made recently. The rotisserie chicken on the sandwiches is delectable and the breads are fresh and tasty. Last time I had the Gouda Good on sourdough (dutch crunch destroys the roof of my mouth every time), and my partner that night kept asking me what I was eating.... We ended up going back to get him a sando. Awesome that they are open late and very conveniently located to Saint Francis Hospital. read more

A little hole in the wall sandwhich place, easy to miss but hard to resist. They make ridiculous sandwhiches and salad. I live nearby and it is actually a problem, I haven't been able to try anywhere else. They have a wide variety and a custom build your own option. I cant say enough good things about this place and anyone who comes to visit always makes a trip to Bite and says the same. Go for it read more

Stopped by this late at night after flying in to San Fran. Delicious! Had the Cowboy Melt, and boy did it not disappoint. I would recommend this to anyone looking for lunch or a late night snack. They've got lots of great options to satisfy anyone! read more

Bite is my go-to sandwich shop in the area... even passing by the place you smell the amazing rotisserie chicken and when you actually order, you're never disappointed. I've had a salad (can't recall the name) and usually alternate between two sandwiches: The Kookooroo and the Chickenopolis. Both of these are packed with toppings and are very rich with sauces and feta cheese. Come hungry because the sandwiches are massive. You get every pennies worth of the ~$9 you'll pay for it. read more

Found a really long black hair in my sandwich. Disgusting. Also, I don't get the rave reviews, even without the hair in my food, not impressed with shredded wilted lettuce and subway quality bread. read more

Grabbed a sandwich here for dinner the other night while working in San Francisco. I ordered a sandwich with chicken and feta although I can't remember the name. The bread was great and the ingredients were fresh. They have a great selection of diverse sandwiches. Something for everyone. A place worth returning to read more

Had to write a review after the exceptional service I received today. I called in to order lunch at 10:30am not realizing they weren't open yet. They didn't even hesitate to take my order and told me they were closed but to knock on the door to pick it up. I went in and received nothing but smiles(whereas most places would be annoyed) even though they weren't open yet. I've been coming here for over a year and have never been disappointed. My usual orders are the gobbler(turkey, blue cheese, avocado), the skin, and of course gouda good. Delicious! read more

As someone from NY, I know a good sandwich and let me tell you. Just about anything you'll get here. You won't just like it, you'll love it. Been coming here for years. Great sandwiches. read more

Bite is a great sandwich shop in a great location. Lower Nob Hill provides for a perfect opportunity to get one of the best sandwiches in town. The Gouda is one of the better sandwiches I've had in the city thus far. The price is good as well. Highly recommend. read more

First of all i love their sandwiches. I loved everything about bite when i first discovered them. I just wanted to keep eating them chicken sandwiches :) First thing that bothered me was how the bread got so hard when i say hard 'rock hard' in 10 minutes. By the time i took my sandwich home the bread was too hard. They do not have a minute set up when they are toasting the bread. When i came back to last time i notice that the cook just keeps the bread as long as she wants sometimes him. Anyway im in love with their sandwich so ill keep giving them another chance. So tonight i wanted to pick up to take home. When i called the restaurant i told them the items i wanted because i wanted them to be ready when i came in to pick up. i didnt have time to reorder and take my sweet time. i have a sick family at home i have to take care of so i just wanted to be in and out. Only thing i would do is pay for the food. So when i was speaking with the lady she told me that ' you can get your cookie when you come here'. Hey lady i didnt ask you when can i get my cookie i asked you kindly to make my order items ready by the time i get there. Then i asked her about delivery this time she said we 'DONT have have delivery you need to come order pick up here' she said. I told her hold on you are not listening me because I actually wanted to know what delivery company they worked with. At this point i told her that she wasnt listening what i was saying because she didn't stop talking so i told her stop and please listen which she didnt do.Since she kept on talking i wanted to answer her back at the same time she was speaking so maybe she can hear me back! Guess what she ended up hanging up the phone to my face! I cant still believe that. So i called back and told her that she wasnt listening what i was saying i will go there right now and she ended up hanging in my face again.Hey i know she works there for many years but no body gave her a right to treat the stores customers bad first of all its not even her store so she should behave well because she is representing the owner by being there every single day. She needs extra training on customer service skills for sure :) All she had it to do tell me that they work with Ubereats, caviar and postmates which she didn't care about it by saying we don't deliver‍‍‍. read more

Yo, so I've lived in the lower Nob Hill neighborhood for four years and bought from Yogi's and from Dolce, both fine places and now Ike has answered the lower Nob Hill question of "a good sandwich joint...and no, I don't mean you, Subway." Bite is FAN-DAMN-TASTIC! My man brought home two sandwiches yesterday, and although I don't remember the names, their memory is still strong in my mind of the turkey breast with all-fabulous bacon and gouda and the other chicken with I think was some stinky cheese (which is always good). Super happy that this place is open and that they use Bore's Head meat which is always delicious. The interior reminds me of old-timey butcher shops and the prices are not unreasonable considering the wholly awesome food you get. Definitely, strongly recommend that anyone who's a fan or just a friend of sandwiches try this place. =) read more

Open late , sandwiches are good! , staff is killer. Whole chickens for around 10 bucks.

Ate here for a late night eat and ordered the Cowboy sandwich. The rotisserie chicken is amazing and blends well with the bbq sauce and cheddar cheese. The sandwiches are HUGE, large enough to share. read more

Well, still like the sandwiches here, but 2 things are causing me to lower my review from 4 to 3 stars: 1) Still no menu online even though it was mentioned in the owner's comment that he was working on this. 2) Prices keep rising - most of my favorite sandwiches now come out to over $10, which is painful. read more

I get the Gouda good sandwich, a pickle and some chips. This is the best sandwich shop I've been to in SF. The chicken is always tender and moist, cooked perfectly. The staff is friendly for a sandwich place. The price can not be beaten for the quality. read more

Ordered the "My Ex" sandwich, it was pretty good. The Bite's more of a takeout place than a dine in place.

Sandwich was good. $13 for a small but decent size sandwich. outside only seating with the dirty pigeons. get to go its nasty outside.

Ordered a sandwich. Guess they ran out of a certain meat. They call my wife up who placed the order. The person who calls doesn't speak much English. She tells my wife the issue and ask if I want to replace the sandwich but the whole time the person is just waiting on the phone. I tell my wife hey tell them we will call back. They don't do that, they are on the phone telling my wife some substitutions. I can't pick something under this much pressure plus I don't know exactly what they have. It's all specialty sandwiches. Im looking and now my wife is getting upset cause I can't just choose. You don't just choose a sandwich. Shit is personal. I keep telling them we will call them back but these muther fuckers don't understand that shit. Finally just tell them sub the meat for roast beef. Done right? No, wife is in nuclear mode. This place made my upset. Fuck this place. I gotta to live with that shit. Fuck you Bite. read more

One of the best sandwich spots in the city. Has very good salads as well too! My sis is allergic to wheat and has brought her own gluten free bread there and they were happy to make a sandwich on it. Lots of options for vegetarians as well! read more

I've stopped by twice over the last 2 weeks for their chicken. I've passed by a number of times before that and the aroma wafting out of their shop has finally pulled me in last week. Reading other Yelp reviews, I noticed they have not specifically commented on their rotisserie chicken on it's own merit. I am here to correct this omission. These chicken are just perfectly moist all throughout, perfectly tender and just perfect all around!!!!! I might try their sandwiches one day, but somehow its hard for me to imagine that right now when I can have these fowl done right and unencumbered by anything else. read more

Smells were heavenly and the sandwich lives up to the smell! Relatively cheap (even for a broke college kid) and huge amount of meat! A little hole in the wall place that you might miss if you don't pay close attention. Awesome, great tasting. Definitely a favorite. read more

Perfect neighborhood deli. Sweet people work there and they make amazing wraps and sandwiches. Open later too!

Sandwiches are mouthwateringly awesome. Big enough for two lunches if you dont eat like a teenage boy. One of my faves is the Firecracker (Sausalito turkey sandwich loaded with avocado and not baked); and the Kitchen Sink is pretty remarkable. There is almost always a line, and it takes about 10 mins to get your sandwich once ordered so be prepared. Its worth it though! read more

waited for a long time to order the food and it seemed really good because they were busy and the environment feels like rush hour until we got our order. Food was very well prepared and flavored. as a sandwich person i definitely do approve. but the staff was a bit short as if they had a very long day, however with a small application of smiling while taking our orders, could have been the difference in our experience. The FOOD it's self takes 4 stars. read more

Do you like delicious sandwiches? Do you not feel like eating in an overpriced crappy restaurant in union square? if your answer is yes to any of these questions, go to Bite!
