I ordered the Gouda Good and while I was eating I got a piece of cartilage! I thought one piece isn't bad, but I got a couple pieces of cartilage. I was so annoyed I called the restaurant to talk to them and they said they would call grub hub and get me a refund. I called Grub hub today and they tell me no one has called to talk to them. I never write a post unless I'm very upset and I am upset. This is just bad customer service. And to top it off grub hub Called me back to say the company would give me $5 back when I spent $13. Great sandwich place. Standing room only but tables on the sidewalk if you want to enjoy a delicious sandwich right away. They have many on menu or you can make up your own. I would suggest ordering online as it took about 15 min to make one I offered there. There is no parking. read more

Great sandwiches but if you order online or over the phone they never listen to what you want. The entire reason why I love the sandwiches is because of the sauce and I continue to request the sauce of the side and they will just not give it to you and that makes the sandwich dry and not the same. I'm surprised that the reviews here are so good. I've came here twice, just to make sure the first time wasn't a fluke, but the sandwiches here are straight up bad. I've tried maybe 5 or so of the sandwiches here, and the only good one was the firecracker. The second time I came they ran out of bread, so I had the get a wrap. How does a sandwich place even run out of bread? In addition to the wraps, I also got food poisoning the second time I came here, so I definitely won't be giving this place any more chances. read more

I don't get why this place is so highly rated. I had the gouda good for lunch a few days ago and while it had a decent flavor, the dutch crunch tasted a little stale (or otherwise I just really don't like their bread, fresh or not). It was a bit difficult to bite into because of this texture, and scraped up my mouth a bit while eating it; bleh I can still remember that feeling. For a sandwich that had me wait 10 min to get during lunch (with just one person ahead of me), I'd have hoped they would have fresher bread. There's a lot of other sandwich shops in town that have a better quality:price ratio, so I don't really see much motivation to come back here. Or at least not on their dutch crunch. read more

I really like Ike's Place...wait i mean Bite. The store is small, but the menu is gigantic, they have the basics of the condiment realm to the fancy cheeses. The combinations are endless, and the food is great. You can get a standard sandwich, cuts of meat, and cheeses, and some small food items. The main reason is they make good sandwiches. First of all i love their sandwiches. I loved everything about bite when i first discovered them. I just wanted to keep eating them chicken sandwiches :) First thing that bothered me was how the bread got so hard when i say hard 'rock hard' in 10 minutes. Only thing i would do is pay for the food. So when i was speaking with the lady she told me that ' you can get your cookie when you come here'. Hey lady i didnt ask you when can i get my cookie i asked you kindly to make my order items ready by the time i get there. Then i asked her about delivery this time she said we 'DONT have have delivery you need to come order pick up here' she said. I told her hold on you are not listening me because I actually wanted to know what delivery company they worked with. At this point i told her that she wasnt listening what i was saying because she didn't stop talking so i told her stop and please listen which she didnt do.Since she kept on talking i wanted to answer her back at the same time she was speaking so maybe she can hear me back! Guess what she ended up hanging up the phone to my face! I cant still believe that. So i called back and told her that she wasnt listening what i was saying i will go there right now and she ended up hanging in my face again.Hey i know she works there for many years but no body gave her a right to treat the stores customers bad first of all its not even her store so she should behave well because she is representing the owner by being there every single day. This was the first place that we tried upon arriving in San Fran. I had an aloe watermelon drink with my Napa sandwich and a post lunch cookie. The ol' ball and chain had the Gouda Good and a cookie and washed it down with a Coke. It was a short walk from our hotel and freaking delicious. I love it when a sandwich shop stands out and you can taste the difference between them and the chains. The people were nice, but keep in mind that this is a small location with limited seating. There were a few tables outside and I don't remember seeing any inside. Luckily the weather was much better here than in Phoenix where we traveled from. I'd go back and try some of the other options on the menu if we returned to San Francisco. Well worth the visit. read more

Ordered a sandwich. Guess they ran out of a certain meat. They call my wife up who placed the order. The person who calls doesn't speak much English. She tells my wife the issue and ask if I want to replace the sandwich but the whole time the person is just waiting on the phone. I tell my wife hey tell them we will call back. They don't do that, they are on the phone telling my wife some substitutions. I can't pick something under this much pressure plus I don't know exactly what they have. It's all specialty sandwiches. Im looking and now my wife is getting upset cause I can't just choose. You don't just choose a sandwich. Shit is personal. I keep telling them we will call them back but these muther fuckers don't understand that shit. Finally just tell them sub the meat for roast beef. Done right? No, wife is in nuclear mode. Over the past half dozen of visits, they have repeatedly messed up on my sandwiches (both specialty and make-your-own.) It really makes no difference what time you go in. The sandwiches are also very inconsistent when it comes to warmth--sometimes they're warm, sometimes they're cold. I guess it depends who makes them. Be forewarned: Some of the sandwiches on the menu already comes with a type of bread, but you are not guaranteed you're going to get that bread. I once ordered a specialty sandwich that already comes with dutch crunch and got wheat instead. I am not sure what happened, but always double-check once you order your sandwich. waited for a long time to order the food and it seemed really good because they were busy and the environment feels like rush hour until we got our order. Food was very well prepared and flavored. as a sandwich person i definitely do approve. but the staff was a bit short as if they had a very long day, however with a small application of smiling while taking our orders, could have been the difference in our experience.
