If you're a guest at this hotel and don't get your room serviced they give you $5 at their restaurant or bar. I didn't have my room serviced 3 days so my meal was free. I ordered the All-American breakfast and was so satisfied. It was $12 so it was very expensive but the food was good as well as the portions. The bacon was thick, tender, and juicy! I give 3 1/2 stars. There were 10 of us that just met for a family lunch gathering of multiple celebrations. The service was very good, and our food and drink wre great! We enjoyed the atmosphere, the art and overall experience. I've read many of the reviews from others and don't feel the same negatives or exerienced negatives as they did. I enjoy good cuisine and experiences like the next person does but I'm reasonable, fair and don't consider myself a food an wine critic. I have nothing but positive feedback as WE ALL enjoyed our experience and appreciated the service! I felt the prices were reasonable and to be honest - the food prices were reasonable. Perhaps the people complaining have no business going out to eat, I got what I expected with a little more and the menu had a unique variety and health in mind. We like a clean, simple menu and BITE offered a little for everyone. Kudos and I recommend BITE for a fun and unique experience! I plan on doinga staycation there too! read more

We went there for breakfast and stayed in the hotel. I got the vegetable hash, my sister got the croque madame, and my mother got the apple cider quinoa cereal. The hash and madame were BOMB. Granted, everything swimming in enough oil to get a bit of a fry usually goes down easy. The fries with the croque madame were seasoned in what I believe was a garlic, truffle deliciousness. This isn't four stars because my poor mothers quinoa cereal was SO dry and bland, the whole restaurant smells like a musty perfume which screws with your taste perception. and service was meh. This is a review for folks who are intimidated by fancy restaurants, because I am one of those people, and I don't mind admitting it. The setting is really beautiful; the hotel has a lot of glass on display, and makes good use of the location by highlighting the views with accessible, cozy spots to hang out and stare at the water. We came in on the day after Christmas, and the place was very quiet. We had really prompt and friendly service getting our drinks and a bread basket with rolls and a very tasty rosemary flatbread. I had a delicious cocktail called a "sunshine" (haha Tacoma) with pomegranate and I think vanilla vodka that was standard fancy restaurant priced, and a tad bit stronger than I would have expected, which was nice. My Mr. had a cabernet that our waiter recommended that he enjoyed. I ended up trying some of the calimari, the chef's special lobster pot pie, and the kobe burger. The calimari were nicely seasoned and very tender, but a little soggy. My lobster pot pie was almost perfect- the vegetables and the sauce were amazing, and there was a lot of really fresh and not at all overcooked lobster. My only tiny complaint was that the puff pastry crust was a little underdone for my taste, and had a little raw floury flavor to it. The kobe burger was the menu item that I'll definitely go back for. I've been disappointed with other kobe burgers I've had around town, but this was really satisfying. The beef was just delicious, and they didn't drown it in sauce. Perfectly cooked to order, mouthwatering beef, classic and fresh toppings, toasted bun (maybe brioche, not sure). It also came with a ridiculously huge serving of the best garlic fries I've had in Tacoma. They smelled like stadium garlic fries, but they were crispy and not soggy or greasy. All in all, we paid maybe $15 more for a meal for 2 and drinks than we would have for a meal at The Ram, but we had way better food, service, and ambience. The football game was on in the bar, too, so they do a tad bit of fancy but keep it really comfortable and friendly. read more

I have only had breakfast at Bite, and that is what this review pertains to. The food was excellent and the coffee was great, which is why this review even gets a 3*. I ordered an espresso beverage from the server which was later brought by the barista. The barista brought a drink to me, but it looked too dark so I questioned what she'd brought me. Evidently the server did not express that the order was an americano with additives; the server asked if the drink had arrived and I explained the situation. Both the server and the barista seemed dismissive of their roles in the mix-up. Either way, it was not a deal breaker, but it wasn't a good look. I made my order with the server and expressed that I would like the check with the food so that I could close out and leave upon completing the meal. She brought the check out, but never came to collect the payment. I finished my meal and went up to the register to complete the transaction and leave. This wouldn't be an issue, but I was trying to set the stage for me to get out quickly as I was in a rush to get down to a conference. Again, the food was delicious, but I felt that the whole experience with the staff and its customer left a bitter taste in my mouth. read more

Wish it was just a piece or two of the french toast, and some fruit or an egg or something. Too expensive for what it was. The food was pricey, and wasn't fabulous. It wasn't worth the price, but it is the only restaurant in a boutique hotel, so not much choice. 2 stars. I ate at the bar, and Kat, the bartender, was very helpful. She was very friendly and gave great advice on ordering, the Tacoma area, where to avoid walking alone, and things to consider when looking for apartments in Tacoma. She also got to know the people that frequented the restaurant during their stay which gave a nice personal touch to the place. She elevated the place to 3 stars. Our first time to have lunch at the Bite restaurant in the Hotel Murano. For restaurant week in Tacoma, Bite offered a menu of selected options for appetizer, entree and dessert. When we arrived, the restaurant had very few customers, but we had to wait about 15 minutes before we were seated at a table that still needed to be wiped clean- not at any of the other tables that were clean and set for customers. The server was pleasant and friendly, but I have never experienced such slow service!!Two tables were seated, served, paid their bills and departed before we even got our entrees. The food was good, but I cannot understand how a table of 4 received their hamburger sandwiches before we received our pre-made entrees! 3 stars only for the good food, because the service was very poor. read more

The hubby and I checked this restaurant out because it was listed for restaurant week. The clam linguine my partner ordered was fantastic so I helped him out with that dish. I ordered a burger, which was over cooked and when I told the waitress, she immediately apologized (and apologized several more times) and got me a different burger that was perfectly cooked. Unfortunately completely disappointed, I work in a restaurant and I completely understand what slow nights at like however there wasn't anything that went right with our experience. Both fish were overcooked "salmon explicitly ordered medium", ribeye was prepared correctly and tasted great, Greek salad was good, fried green tomatoes were dismal and only one dessert was edible. Timings were terrible "which is to be expected on a slow night but beyond understandable levels"which made the experience nearly unbearable. Architecturally pretty cool. Staff was pretty average but friendly. But the crab frittata and mimosa were both excellent.

I highly recommend the filet mignon, it was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was quiet and the service was fantastic.

Had dinner here late March. Everything was perfect. Waiter was very professional, and the room had a good atmosphere. I ordered salmon, with a fried green tomatoes appetizer. I took my fiancé here for dinner and drinks on New Years Eve, 2014. We were both very disappointed with the selection of dinner items. The options were very slim! We both decided to go with the prime rib; we ordered it med-rare, and it came out rare. I wonder if they even bothered to put any heat on it?? The service was mediocre and we felt rushed. Our check was given to us prematurely, which I find extremely rude. I have waited tables in my day, and this is a big time no-no! Also, we saw that prices were "$$" on yelp, which is not correct. This place should easily be "$$$" or higher. Even appetizers where expensive ($10+). All of the cocktails were $10+ as well. All in all, I will not be dining here again. For the $100+ I paid to have a nice evening, I will spend my money elsewhere from now on. read more

Went this past Saturday night at about 630 pm and the place was dead. Our service was great. The food wasn't. It started with the rolls that were stale I ordered the prawn and scallop fettuccine. It was flavorful but the scallops weren't cooked all the way thru. My bf ordered the rib eye. He said it was dry and there was some weird cheese on it. He didn't care for it at all. Also the brussel sprouts it came with were hard and not cooked all the way. Of course he ate it, it was $33. The entire meal was definitely not worth the $$. We won't be returning to the restaurant but we will be staying at the Hotel Murano again. read more

My boyfriend and I love Bite, whenever we want a nice date night and can't decide where to go we end up at Bite and we are never disappointed. Their dinner menu is really accommodating for GF and vegetarian vegan diets as well if you ask! The food is creative, seasonal and fun. My go to is the grilled tofu but I've also loved the fried green tomatoes they featured last summer. The servers are friendly and we've never had to wait long for anything. As a server myself I can tell all the staff receive great training and management, and the location itself is great and super convenient for those who work in the city. The restaurant has an incredible gallery of modern art and an eye catching interior design. Also for the quality and ambience it's very decently priced. read more

I was invited here on a date and I like free food, so everything was set to go well. This restaurant is located in a hotel in downtown Tacoma. It looks nice and features some pretty cool glass art. We walked up to the restaurant and were given a friendly greeting and seated by the window so we could have a view. I thought that was nice. I noticed there are quite a few weird digital art pieces in the restaurant that look like some kind of virtual porn star head shots. It's very strange. Anyway, our waiter was an older gentlemen and he was very good. We ordered the cheese board, clam linguini, and halibut. I also also ordered a Moscow mule, which was very good. The cheese board was okay. It was basically three of the same cheeses with different 'seasonings' and a few meats. The problem I had was with my halibut dish. The halibut was cooked perfectly and tasted very good. However, there as a pile of greens on the plate crusted with dirt. That is no exaggeration. Can a girl get some washed salad? The edges were also brown, which is not that big of a deal, but reflects some serious laziness. Also, the pieces were just thrown on the plate and they were way to large to eat with a fork. Generally, that plate was a mess, including the mashed potatoes which were bland and way too thick. My date's clam linguini was a big bowl of liquid. The wine in the sauce wasn't cooked off completely, so it had a bitter flavor. I didn't want to complain about my food, since I was on a date and it seemed like it would make a bad impression. I wouldn't care much about yelping my experience, but a bunch of dirt all over my plate is not cool. If you're not going to wash the salad, what other standards are not being followed? At least the staff was extremely friendly and attentive. That's the only reason Bite gets three stars. read more

I celebrated my birthday at Bite since I was going home to see my family. We had eight people, and Bite was very accomodating, even for a Saturday night. The drinks were by far the best, fancy drinks I've had in Tacoma, and they definitely rival great places in Seattle for very detailed, trendy cocktails. Half of my party enjoyed a beautiful view of downtown Tacoma, while the rest of us enjoyed the view of the hip bar. The food was very good - of the hits, Spicy Prawns, Fries and Gravy Poutine, and the Green Market Salad. The Seared Scallops, Truffle Mac and Cheese, and Heirloom Tomato Carpaccio were also good. I would highly recommend checking out this place. Don't be discouraged by the fact this restaurant is in a hotel. If anything, it makes it even more worth going to if you love art and beautiful views while enjoying a delicious cocktail. read more

A place that makes Tacoma seem really chic! This was my first time at Hotel Murano and it did exceed my expectations...I knew al about the glass art and its modern flaire although seeing the lobby was more than impressive! The restaurant itself is up the stairs on the 4th floor and was smaller than expected although does respect the same theme of the whole hotel and is a smooth transition from the hotel to restaurant. It was the second to last day of Restaurant Week and we wanted to check this place out. We went on a Monday so there were not many folks there, just a few tables here and there filled so we got seated promptly. They gave us a disclaimer that their menu that day was a shortened one page menu due to a high volume of hotel guests and they usually have a more extensive menu...we were there for the $25 3 course Restaurant Week menu anyways so it did't affect our choices at all. For a cocktail, I had a cocktail consisting of champagne, OJ, and midori (could have done without the midori but otherwise was satisfactory), the bread they brought out was actually quite good and ate the flatbread with rosemary. For appetizer we got a corn chowder, super hot at first but especially in this cold weather, was definitely appropriate and hearty enough. For my entree, I got the stuffed bake chicken and for dessert, their original deserts were not available although they had a pumpkin cheesecake and obviously it's fall and anything pumpkin would taste delicious and hence it was! Based on the prices, this place is somewhat pricey but not extravagant and is in a nice hotel sooo you do pay for the food and ambience. Definitey a place for hotel guests although locals should check it out...definitely a nice place for a date or group gathering. read more

My wife and I ate there last Sunday for lunch after seeing the hotel place #4 on the Conde Nast review. We were there at about 1:15 and there was hardly anyone there, they say it depends on conventions and wedding parties. The wait staff was friendly and efficient. I had the 1/2 lb burger which was the best burger I ever ate! It comes with a bacon spread and with your choice of cheese. The side was a ton of garlic fries which again was the best I can remember eating. My wife had the fish and chips which she liked but the cole slaw side was her favorite. We were too stuffed for a dessert so can't comment there. There was no view from there even though there were windows. There were some booths near the bar where we sat at for comfort sake but the other tables and chairs were plastic. Reminded me of a high polished diner which is why it didn't get 5 stars. And also the price was a bit on the high side. The art in the lobby and the different floors was a nice touch too. read more

My girlfriend and I went here for our anniversary. The menu looked promising and we had not been before so we thought that we would give it a shot. We had the fried green tomatoes for an appetizer and they were excellent. We both had a salad which were both good as well. For dinner my girlfriend had the mac and cheese which was absolutely delicious. I had the grilled tofu (we are both vegetarians) and it was HORRIBLE! It was inedible. Thank goodness we had appetizers and a salad beforehand otherwise I would have walked away from the restaurant hungry. There was maybe 5 other people in the restaurant and the service was still extremely slow. I would hate to see things when they had a full house. Maybe it was an off day for our waitress, who knows. Overall the experience was ok but considering the price, I would have to hear something really great about it before I gave it another shot. read more
