So rude! I've used this place for years - the food isn't bad and it's close to my home - but no more! I recently I scheduled a large order pick up for 11AM (placed the order around 9:30AM). It wasn't ready when I arrived (this happens, no biggie). I waited 15 mins and then asked approx. how much longer it would be. I was dumbfounded with the rudeness that came back at me. I"m a regular there and have only ever been nice to them. Eventually they threw my order at me, I ran back home for a meeting only to discover the order was incorrect. The super soft pita bread comes filled with organic eggs, hummus, cucumbers, onions, and hot sauce. (I am literally salivating writing this review!!) This place features a combination of mediocre food and some of the rudest employees in NYC. When I asked about popular sandwiches or soups, I was barked at by the guy taking orders. I was then berated by the same guy for giving him my order before giving him my name, and finally I was yelled at by the guy for waiting in the wrong line. So many other reviews mention how disgusting the staff is at this place -- it's really the worst. Also, they have a million lines all snaking in a million directions, so the experience is really chaotic and unpleasant. And when it's freezing cold in the middle of winter, who wants to be waiting outside and listening over beeping cars for your name (which if you miss it, by the way, you get yelled at). Beyond the horrible staff, the food is so bad. There are so many great options in NYC, and there's no reason to get yelled at and have to eat a repulsive sandwich and soup. read more

The food is decent, but the employees are incredibly rude and mess up orders. I work on the block, and after several incidents of extreme rudeness decided not to go back. The straw broke when I asked for the sides that came with a hummus platter to be separate rather than mixed in, and the guy at the counter nastily said, "It's only $6, just get it the way it comes." There's always quite a line here, which is a bit of a downside, but the line moves steadily and the food comes out in a timely fashion. This food stand is pretty wide, but really narrow--I have no idea how the employees fit inside and have room to move around, let alone grill things! It's a classic combination that can easily be made at home, but when you're in the area and are in need of a quick 'bite' (haha) for breakfast or a snack, it's a great choice. Another A+ sandwich is the Prosciutto & Mozzarella hot pressed panini. It's filled with prosciutto, sun dried tomatoes, mozzarella, and pesto making for a very hearty panini. One of my colleagues suggested adding Bite into our food delivery repertoire, and since she is one of the more adventurous eaters in the division, I figured that it had to be great. And, frankly, it was! The delivery time was fairly fast and accurate, plus the deliveryman was extremely courteous. My Mediterranean Salad was to die for! What could have been a basic blend of fresh baby greens, roasted almonds, and pine nuts was topped with a healthy dollop of hummus, sauteed eggplant, roasted red pepper tapenade, and a Middle Eastern Chopped Salad (cucumber, etc.). I did not even wind up using my side of salad dressing, since all of these hearty toppings rendered it completely unnecessary. In addition, the accompanying pita bread was moist and doughy, versus the usual cold, tough variety that comes straight out of a package. Yes I'm reviewing all three because I still tried it. If you've heard or ever been to Panera bread they have this 'you pick 2' and Bite is so much better because it's less expensive and fresh. First picture is of a sad looking salad with walnut, green apple slices, goat cheese, tomatoes, and the green stuff. Top it off with the tahini sauce, give it a little shake and you're left with a savory salad and did I mention goat cheese! (So fresh). The salad was one of my pick two, the second which is not pictured was a pea soup, the peas are at the bottom so make sure to stir. The soup was very comforting. My friend ordered a Nutella and banana buttered croissant which is pictured and looks greasy and cheesy but nope, just pure sweetness inside sweet croissant. Lastly, my cousin whom is a vegetarian ordered a sandwich, the Vegan Schnitzel (see below for description) Vegan "chicken" cutlet on a ciabatta with fresh greens, plum tomatoes, vegan special sauce and pickles. Popular spot to grab a bite but person taking orders speaks limited English and mistakes are common. I ordered the Middle Eastern Vegan on gluten-free free bread and the guy said "falafel sandwich is same,". I repeated my order for Middle Eastern Vegan and he just ordered me the falafel sandwich which is not the same. It was impossible to communicate with him the mistake due to his limited English. Bite is a tiny window into a tiny little kitchen. I enjoy getting a sandwich here from time to time. I've only ever had their sandwiches (never the salads, soups, breakfasts, paninis, cookies, etc.) and they have all been fantastic. For the Middle Eastern sandwiches, I usually don't get one that has eggplant because I don't like it. Although the menu says "spicy or not" next to the Middle Eastern sandwiches, I cannot for the life of me taste the difference. For the other sandwiches, you have four choices for dressing. My favorite of these is the smoked pepper mayo -- which is spicy. If you don't like spice, the next best dressing is the sun-dried tomato-basil mayo, followed by the sweet mustard. Never gotten the balsamic vinaigrette. The staff is very nice and the service is fast, but you customers have no idea what you're doing. You walk up, you order, and you stand there, or you move back to where you were waiting to order, or you move to the other side, or you wander away to lalaland. PLEASE: Line up in front of the window. Don't block the menu on the left. Order, move to the right side, stay close enough -- and take your earbuds out -- to hear when it's ready. THANKS. Everything here is beyond amazing. Have had the chicken schnitzel, grilled chicken sub{ not sure if they still have it}, Mediterranean panini and the lentil soup. Preferably will skip the soup and try sound thing different. Also have tried the shakahouka the first time I strolled into this place years back with my sister. I really like it here! It's such a wonderful place to stop and grab an affordable (10$ or less for most items) breakfast lunch or dinner. They have so much stuff. Soups,paninis, sandwiches, fries, muffins, falafel, salads... It's Mediterranean mostly but they have stuff like grilled cheese and pesto mozzarella panini- while also having sabich sandwiches and falafel and shakshooka! They truly have something for EVERYONE. They have like 50 things on the menu haha. You can stay healthy with a salad, medium with a sammy, or go all out with a Cuban grilled cheese :) I would go with the Mediterranean choices myself- I had the Mediterranean vegan sandwich (pita with roasted eggplant, hummus, tomato, greens, peppers and pepper tapenade) and it was SO delicious. What a nice little surprise of a soup/sandwich shop. Fantastic lunch option for those in the area. There is a nice variety of options here, and I had trouble finally deciding on a panini-soup combo. I ended up getting the Lentil soup, which was hearty/delicious/amaze-balls (running out of adjectives, you get the point). This blandly named takeout window actually serves up some delicious Mediterranean and vegetarian friendly sandwiches. I had a "Middle Eastern breakfast sandwich" at the 14th Street location once, and it was terribly boring and soggy. No, no. You're here ONLY for the spicy sabich sandwich. Sabich is an Israeli creation of hard boiled eggs and stewed eggplant. The only other place I know of with sabich is Taim (https://www.yelp.com/biz/taim-falafel-new-york), which tucks its sabich in a pita, slathered in hummus, tahini, and chopped veggies and pickles. The version here is ...atypical, with the same eggs and eggplant, but served in a toasted, painfully crusty baguette, dripping with olive oil and matted with mesclun greens. It's freaking delicious. Ask for "spicy" and they'll add a generous smear of sambal, taking your Frankensteinian sandwich to fiery, culture-crossing heights. The lines on the sidewalk are always confusing. People waiting to order hover alongside people waiting for their food. You just have to rely on the guys inside to remember everyone's faces. Everything moves a little slow, so you're never quite sure if they see you waiting. No seating. Your closest bet for a place to sit might be the benches at the road meridians on Houston, with cars whizzing by.
