I'll start by saying the service was good. We got there at 6pm and it was basically empty inside. There were only people at a table outside. We ordered, ate, food was fine. Nothing amazing that I would say you have to run here but before we left we saw a mouse run across the dining area. I wanted to jump on my chair but I kept my cool. Then my kids saw it, oh my! Thank God this happened in the end of my meal. Still 3 stars for the food, would I return? Heck no!!

We came here on the recommendation of someone that lived nearby. I was specifically advised to order the steak with foie gross dish. The service was actually quite impressive. A nice change of pace from all the other French restaurants we visited--the guys were friendly, helped us with our orders, and were responsive to any additional service. AND MIGHT I ADD, that this was the FIRST restaurant in Paris (4 prior that didn't) that brought bread without us asking. Steak with Foie Grois- 3 stars. This was from the special menu. The steak was O-K and I personally didn't enjoy the foie. I think that could just be me, I'm not into duck liver. Escargot- 4 stars. This was actually good. It was a bit different compared to the escargots I've had in French restaurants in the U.S. What I mean is, it was a bit more nitty gritty. But I realized that this was standard in France. Great reasonable price! I'd come back for the escargots and probably give them business just because these guys are super nice and they have great service. The food is O-K, but as this was the first few days of Paris, I thought that this was going to be mediocre food compared to other French food, only to find out later in our food ventures that in fact, this is what French food tastes like in France on average. Just an O-K. So, going back to the person that originally recommended us to come here, it made logic sense. He later stated, "Food in France is NOT that great, so might as well go to a place that tastes OK but has reasonable prices and great service." Well said.

Excellent bistro! Cheap , great convivial workers. We had specials made of lamb sausage couscous with a quarter chicken + a homemade crepe for dessert for $14.!! Can you believe that! It is located near the " grands boulevards" in front of the BNP bank which is a beautiful architectural building full of majesty.

We were staying at the Mercure Opera and looked around for a place to eat close to the hotel. We had a long day of site seeing and didn't want to have to put much effort into dinner. After looking around we found the Bistrot de la Banque was just around the corner from our hotel. My wife had the 3 selection course consisting of toast with cheese, Beef with french fries and strawberry tarte for dessert. All 3 courses were wonderful. I had the beef bourguignon. I was a little concerned because I don't typically like wine sauces, but this one was not heavy at all. It had a really great flavor. The meat was good as were the potatoes and other vegetables in the dish (some carrots, and a few pieces of celery). Now the service. We had a really great experience with the service! The waiter was very friendly and polite. There were no issues with us speaking English, he accommodated us well. Everything was done in a timely manner, and the bill was very reasonable. This might not be what some would consider "5" stars, but there is no reason for this place to not be highly rated.

    Worldwide best mousse au chocolat!

Seeing that the reviews were excellent, we decided to give it a try. We were stunned with the friendliness of the staff and their willingness to help us even though we did not speak French. The food was outstanding beginning with the appetizer - French fries with bacon and cheese. Our mains were even better along with an outstanding bottle of wine picked with the help of our waiter. Poni was a Michelin star restaurant to us!

I was seated in the backroom which was all high tables and very quiet. Notre Pâté en croûte - This was great. A slice of bread with chunks of duck and other meat with pickled items on the side (which I always love!) and a little bit of lettuce. It is not like a spreadable paté. Capra (salade) - this was a large salad with three large fried goat cheese balls. I had to take much of it with me. It has a variety of ingredients which don't necessarily go together but you can mix and match with each bite. They have a QR code to their website for the English menu if you need. I was stopped at the door asking if I paid which was strange because the tables in my section all have QR codes on them to pay before leaving. Do Parisians not use these? Next time: I'll sit upstairs and try some other dishes.

The food was served tapas style, and they have deals such as getting 5 (or 10!) plates at a discounted price. We ordered 5 for the two of us, but the tapas here are much larger than they are in the states, so we were STUFFED and didn't even finish three fourths of it! Well worth the money. Because it is a more authentic place, most waiters didn't speak English. They were helpful to the best of their ability, and I would highly suggest giving them a try even if you're not overly confident in your French!

Unfortunately, it was past 10 pm so a lot of places were closed. We were getting frantic trying to find a restaurant that was still open. We finally pinged this place on GoogleMaps. I have to say, this place is the definition of a hidden gem. It's a small French tapas place off on a side street that unless you were really searching, you would probably walk by it in favor of larger restaurants. I don't know if our waiter was also the owner or the sommelier, but either way, his English was limited. Luckily, my fiancee's sister speaks French so she was able to translate the menu (to an extent). As such, this was a tapas restaurant so everything was small plates and meant to be shared. I don't remember the exact name of everything we ordered, but I remember a Pad Thai, a beef dish, smoked salmon, octopus, and a fried dish (maybe calamari, but I don't remember). The food is excellent and packed with flavor. You'd be surprised how filling these little dishes can be. If you ever come to Paris, I recommend going off the beaten path for this little piece of heaven.

Unfortunately, it was too early for the tartare as they only serve that during lunch/dinner hours. So we ordered an onion soup, a dozen snails, and a cheese plate. The onion soup was really good. The cheese was nice and melty and slightly charred in some spots. I shared this with my husband but I probably could have eaten two of these on my own. The snails were great as well. But I feel like 12 is a little too much for two people, but 6 wouldn't be enough. For the cheese plate, I don't remember what was on it but I remember not liking the harder cheeses and really liking the gorgonzola. I wish we found out about this place sooner so we could have tried a proper meal. If anyone gets a chance to try the beef tartare, let me know!
