The descriptions of Bistro Beaux sounded strange but intriguing, so we decided to try it. Interior minimal but fine. I ordered a glass of Pinot Griego to start. It came in a nice glass, but with maybe 1/2 inch of wine in the bottom- for $17! I thought I had been given a taste, but no. The waiter said that was a 'glass of wine'. (You're kidding me right?) We had the marinated octopus starter, which tasted fine but was micro in size. The two seafood pastas (crab butter and sea urchin) tasted pretty good but were very fatty. We were still there when more customers came after 11:45pm, they accomodated them without any restrictions. Like okay??? I think it has to do with us not being japanese just like what other reviewers are saying. We got the carbonara which was 10/10. Crab pasta was okay would rate 7/10. Fried chicken was soggy and sour? 2/10. The brussel sprouts was really good 10/10. We came back two days later because I really liked the carbonara, this time we came early around 8pm. Ordered food to go and ate at home. The chicken wasn't worth it, I wish it was better. The spaghetti with crab butter was supposed to be with penne noodles but they did spaghetti. I should've checked the order before I left but I didn't enjoy my experience at the restaurant so I just wanted my food and go home. The crab butter spaghetti though was really good. Like I should've just gotten two ordered of that instead of getting the chicken. I just wish they got the noodles right. Also, I wish there had been more crab meat. You pay about $30 for the dish, you'd expect more than like three small pieces of crab. But like I said, it was actually good. I would probably order it again, if I ever decide to come back. The ambiance wasn't great. The place doesn't look like a place you'd call a bistro with their chicken wire fence and signage. Felt more of a skate park to me when entering and sitting down. My drive to this restaurant was from Long Beach to Torrance so it was quite a distance but was eager to try the pasta nonetheless. It was very busy when we arrived so it took the hostess a minute to communicate with us. Now I don't usually leave reviews below four stars but I think the most important part of a dining experience is how one is treated on arrival. Before I get into the customer service I want to acknowledge the uh....unique? decor? I almost cripped walked to a table because the metal door frames separating the tables reminded me of the hood. I love the hood, but it didn't make sense in my head. While I tried to figure out if I was on Rosecrans the hostess approached me and waited for me to speak so I told her I needed a table for three hotties. She looked around the room and I tried to telepathically communicate to her to pick the table by the window with four seats. She walked away and spoke to a woman behind the bar and returned with a nervous look on her face. I looked for cues to see if she needed an escape like blinking twice but she just said there were no seats available. As a survivor of narcissistic abuse I am well aware when someone is trying to gaslight me so I looked at the tables that were available and looked back at her "no tables?" And she repeated what I said. I understand if the manager was overwhelmed by the amount of people in the restaurant, that could have been a reason but it almost felt like she didn't want us there. This would have been a great opportunity to have us wait at the bar area, have a cocktail while we waited. There's honestly better seating at the McDonald's play place and much better customer service. I unfortunately did not see the point of waiting 30 minutes for fusion pasta when I could simply drive to San Diego for authentic Italian pasta. I did not try a single item here, nor will I give it another chance, it is what it is but I do suggest this establishment reconsiders their interior design and invest in customer service training. MAKE SURE TO ASK FOR AN ITEMIZED RECEIPT!! First time here and I sat at the bar with my bf and we ordered two highballs. When it came out, the drinks looked almost like water. When we asked for the bill, instead of bringing us the receipt, the bartender handed us the card reader to pay. We asked for the itemized receipt bc the total seemed too high for what we ordered. (We also had two small appetizers at $11 each). As I was trying to review the receipt, the bartender said, "Does it look Okay" and before I could fully check, my bf had already tapped to pay. I noticed a $14 charge for a food item we didn't order so I called the waitress to let her know. Her reaction was odd bc she did not apology for the mistake and she immediately said "oh, I can take that off the bill and refund you. The food was for a different table" what made it more questionable is that there were only three tables before we arrived, and they all looked like they were done eating. First of all, I just want to remind this business owner that tipping is a CHOICE and not a requirement. It was extremely unprofessional for the "boss" to ask why I did not leave a tip. You brought my food out and that was it nothing more nothing less. I would recommend somewhere else where they wont stiff arm you for a tip. The food is average as well. Did not know this little hidden gem was in old Torrance. Found it on Yelp, went it and was pleasantly surprised. Small and intimate, decor was the most interesting part with gates as little partitions. Forgot to snap photos of all the food we ate except for the first one which was nicely fried calamari, that was served very quickly and hot! The cocktail I had had a unique name and I wish I could recall but it was not too sweet, and all of the food we did order (and none of it is shown, we did a good sampling of a variety of things off the menu) was all served with just the right amount of heat, taste, quality, and attention to detail when serving to make sure it all came out at a good pace as you SHOULD expect. Worst customer service ever. The old Japanese woman was so racist. We were the only non-Japanese Asians and she was trying so hard to rush us and make us leave. Took away all our water cups and started clearing the tables even though some of us still had our drinks left. She brought our check without us asking and came back after a few minutes and asked us to close out our tab. So we paid and we're just sitting there, finishing up our evening...and she only comes to our table (there were 2 other tables) and tells us that they close at 11pm on Fridays. She was bringing out more food and drinks to the other tables while we were leaving. We asked "are you sure you're closing at 11pm" and she just replies "we're closed" and walks to the back kitchen. Get the Basil, Fresh Tomato, Mozzarella one if you want something lighter, but don't miss the Spaghetti Crab Butter - the sauce will have you speechless. They have smaller starters like the Proscuitto and Burrata or the Parmesan Cheese Scrambled Egg. Can't go wrong, but spaghetti is the reason you go there. They get super creative with the Mochi and Spicy Cod Roe Sauce Naan. The mochi adds the best chewy texture, and the creamy cod roe is everything. Just remember: cod roe comes from a fish and it tastes like it comes from a fish so don't get this unless you like the taste of fish. The Italian Pudding is a signature dish, and I love this hybrid of flan and Italian cheesecake. It doesn't look so pretty in a take-out box, but believe me, it tastes like something beautiful. Forgot how much I loved this place... the pasta with uni and cream sauce was amazing. Plenty of uni, perfect texture pasta and something else- an herb? That added so much to it. The sautéed mushrooms with grilled uni gave me my veggie lift- an energy we all need, while reminding me that personally, eating uni any other way than raw is not making the best use of this Earth treat. This is so unfortunate I have to leave this after so many years of loyalty and patronizing this place!! I guess times have changed - first off, their name sign is flashing like a seizure inducing scene from a horror movie. Yelp says open at 5pm, but they make you wait until 5:30pm. The decor, once fun and chic, now looks like a basement from a SAW movie. Think rusty metal paneling with old chain link fences. Coupled with the sewage stench. And warehouse roller doors perma rolled up. Then... yes prices have gone up dramatically. Sure, inflation. But the straw that broke the camel's back... the owner... she kicked us out of our table half way through saying someone had it reserved and her staff didn't know, yadda yadda. Basically, I already knew, she had some JAPANESE clients coming in. This place is blatantly racist and unabashedly so. I have been coming here for 20+ years. I only get exceptional service when I'm with Japanese speaking friends. Sure enough, after she moved us to a less desirable table, a Japanese speaking group waltzes in. She says sorry, but you guys can stay as long as you want in the new table. One hour goes by... she has the audacity to come by and tell us customers are waiting for the table so we gotta skedaddle. We hadn't even finished our beverages that we paid for!!! Also, we went right at opening, 5:30pm.... Restaurant was empty and by the time we were asked to leave, there were still plenty of wide open tables. And we had been continuously ordering, so it's not like we were loitering. She did not offer us any discounts or comps for the MULTIPLE inconveniences. And wouldn't even split the tab the way we wanted. After our meal, we felt obliged to talk to her about our bad experience, since we were such loyal customers for so many years. We were met with a nonchalant GFY attitude. She literally doesn't care how loyal you are... too busy with her Japanese clients. She told us she's really busy right now and we had a 2hr time limit - this was never mentioned to us at any point. And never had this experience when I frequented in the past. She also passed blame on her staff multiple times, my biggest pet peeve. Just own your a-holery, it's ok. A great small Japanese izukaya/pasta place! A local friend reccomend it and I loved it! The highlight dishes were the fried katsu chicken, the black squid ink spaghetti, and the crab butter pasta. The katsu fried chicken is a must try. The batter was fluffy and crispy, but also was a bit sweet. It almost reminded me of a donut batter! Very unique and delicious. The squid ink pasta was my favorite, but beware it might stain your lips and mouth in black ink. It had a lemongrass tangy hint in the sauce which I loved. I would come back for this again. The crab butter pasta was delicious but it is quite heavy and creamy. It is amazing if you are craving for something thicker and heavier. The lasagna was great! Nothing too special, but it was quite big portions. The calamari was great. Typical calamari well fried. The clam seafood pasta was great as well if you wanted a seafood pasta but didn't want one that was as heavy as the crab one. The wait for pasta was quite long because we were a big table, so we ordered and tried the drinks and appetizers. We got the rainbow drink which was pretty and sweet. The food here is absolutely fabulous. So decadent. The star of the show for our meal was every single small plate we ordered. The chicken karaage was also insane good. Minus a star because the service was painfully slow. Food took a really long time to arrive, and we were ordering things one by one. But every plate was worth the wait for sure. Ambiance is not good. Due to COVID, the entire bar is covered in clear plastic covers and they have isolated each table with plastic shower curtain like dividers. Safety is fine, im all for that, but it does look silly and cluttered. They also had construction supplies by the bathroom and eating area and a large very ugly garage door that was all chained up right by the tables. Was missing any real decor. We ordered to go, and it took approx 20 min for my two dishes: crab butter pasta and carbonara. i didn't care the the crab butter pasta, but that is because i am not a seafood person. the carbonara on the other hand was SOOO good and i am so happy this is a 5 min walk from home!!! it had a good few chunks of bacon and was nice and creamy. they seem to have a nice alcohol selection and small dine in area. i hope to give this place another try soon! read more

We found Bistro Beaux on accident and its probably the best accident EVER. We have been back sooo many times and i must say the Japanese-Italian fusion is such a great idea. Squid Ink Pasta - the sauce is black..dont be surprised but this pasta is BOMB. It does leave your teeth all black lol but the garlic, lemon and squid combo is soooo good. Crab Pasta - lots of crab and super creamy also amazing Carbonara - perfect amount of bacon with a little twist. Its also just good. Filet with Garlic sauce - the filet is cooked to perfection with an amazing garlic soy dip. I drove for a while to make it there before they closed. I got there ready to order at 11:35pm. The restaurant had several tables full and were still serving. The sign was on as "OPEN". I walked in ready to order to-go and a lady looked at me and told we are closed. Then she asked an employee to turn off the sign however it was technically still open until 12. I went to bistro beaux with really high hopes since I had heard so much about it before. Went on a random Wednesday night and got seated right away. They have heaters every two seats so although it was outdoor seating, it was warm enough. Food was not amazing like I had hoped but it was still an enjoyable dinner. Prosciutto pizza 4/5- It's a good appetizer that goes well with pasta. Tastes like a tortilla with a bunch of cheese and a layer of prosciutto on top. Wasn't the best flatbread I've had but was still tasty. Mentaiko pasta 3/5- I've definitely had better mentaiko pasta elsewhere. I was expecting a really creamy savory first bite but was suprised when it was neither. A little too bland for my liking, definitely was not very flavorful. Crab pasta 5/5- This was definitely my favorite dish of the night. Creamy and savory as I was expecting and the chunks of crab were a nice touch. Highly recommend if it's your first time here. Tiramisu 3/5- Was in pretty disappointed when I got my dessert in what looks to be a small plastic water cup. Tasted decent but probably would not waste my money on it again. read more

I had a n95 mask walking in, and the hot wet diarrhea smell said Hey covid hold my bear, and decimated 3m greatest masking technology like it was child's play.
