Just all around excellent! Placed a catering order for 50 this week. The girls answering the phones were very helpful in figuring out how much food I needed for a group that size. The food arrived today 10 minutes early, the owner was one of the guys who delivered the food and they also set it all out for me as a buffet. And last but not least, everything we had was delicious (pulled pork, chicken, baked beans, potato salad, coleslaw and banana pudding). My family came to MS to visit family (we are from Southern California) and wanted some good ol' bbq. We came across Bishop's and we're not disappointed. My daughter had the smoked Angus burger and said it was the best she ever had. Mom had pulled chicken plate with fried pickles, green beans, and hush puppies. I had the pulled pork, Mac n cheese, and fried green tomatoes. Everything was just about perfect although the green beans were a bit salty for our taste. All of their sauces were delicious, the batter on their fried items was fabulous. Oh, and I can't forget the homemade banana pudding. We will certainly be back every time we visit. I was in Tupelo on business and looking for a great lunch place. I am always looking for great BBQ so I thought that I would give Bishop's a shot. I was very pleased with everything that I had. They had great pork, a sweet sauce (a requirement by me for good BBQ) and very good mac and cheese. The food was excellent, looked and tasted great. Best baked beans I've ever had, seriously. Two issues that were disappointing, no waitress. We had to stand in line to order at the counter and I was disappointed by the portion sizes on the ribs (4 small bones). The staff was courteous and helpful plus since we were there on a sunday the second plate was half price ! All in all a good experience and definitely recommended. read more

Smoked chicken, ribs, pulled pork, brisket...........believe me, it's all good at Bishop's. I have been to this delicious barbecue joint three times and have never been disappointed. They make their own sauces, and all of them are good. The people are friendly (I am a little biased--they took a picture of our 7 week old and put it on thier FB page...) and the portions are a nice size. I highly recommend Bishop's for anyone who enjoys barbecue. read more

This is one of my favorite BBQ places. The meat ranges from very good to slightly fatty, portions are large and a nice smoke flavor. The sauces are fantastic. All their sides are great, from homemade potato chips to deep fried crusty onion rings. Great beans with a thick hickory sauce. Texas Toast cooked decently and full of butter every time. I've had almost everything on the menu, and none of it disagreed with me. Top it off with fair prices and friendly people. Hard to beat. read more

Not super impressed with the brisket but the pulled pork was good. The staff here is very friendly and the restaurant is very clean.

Excellent pulled pork. Try the sweet sauce. Yummy! And they had room for us to park while hauling our camper.

My girlfriend and I got the big sampler so that we could try a lot of things. The pulled pork was my favorite, with the chicken second and the ribs third. The brisket was too dry and the mac & cheese tasted like it came from a box. The sweet potato casserole was yummy!! The corn fritters were not what I was expecting (it's like a cornbread pancake) but they were good to eat with the meat. The fried pickles were delicious but super salty. The sauces were really tasty. I didn't feel like the lady taking our order was very welcoming and she didn't look happy. Overall, it was a good experience, but I've had better BBQ before. read more

Found this little gem on the road to Memphis one Sunday. Great little BBQ joint right off the road and easy to find. I had the pulled BBQ and brisket while I was there. The Pulled meat was full of smoke and flavor so I didn't have to drown it in BBQ sauce which was really good sauce (mix the hot and sweet for the perfect blend). the Brisket was falling apart (as a good brisket should) and really good thick smoke ring made my mouth water before biting into. Was it the best BBQ I have had? Nope Was it the worste? Absolutely not It is one of those joints where you go to and get a bunch of food that is tasty and well prepared with a little dash of love. Folks were real nice and friendly so that made the experience that much better. read more

Amazing! I got the family feast with four servings of pulled chicken, with Mac and cheese and baked beans. Their sides are humongous and delicious! And the chicken was more than enough for the two of us. I also got a few sides which were amazing, the service is super quick and everyone is super friendly. Will be having again! read more

A unanimous 5 star out of our group of 4. The pulled pork is excellent-get the slaw on your sandwich! Crinkle cut fries & fried okra are yummy, too. Variety of sauces, but loved the homemade sweet hickory. Crushed ice, good tea & friendly service rounded out the experience! read more

This is a dive and everybody knows that you can find amazing food in some dives. This is not a fine dining establishment but if you want really good food and excellent service, this is the place. The Salad Bar was shredded brown Iceberg lettuce with a few ingredients to add and the place really needs a face lift BUT I WOULD GO BACK FOR SURE if I ever came back to this charming town. read more

Bishop's BBQ is one of the best places in the Tupelo market to get BBQ. The food is always fresh and tastes wonderful. We purchased several meats and sides for a recent family gathering and everything was moist and juicy. The flavors were outstanding (some of the best chicken I've had!). A local 4 star restaurant that provides good , fast , food ; at an economic price. I often get to go orders because our family cannot eat at the same time. My best of menu is: pulled pork, slaw, onion rings, shrimp plate, and crinkle cut potatoes. Needs a great deal of improvement in customer service with to go orders and counter request of service. That is far less than McDonald drive thru. read more

The Brisket plate with fried pickles and fried green tomatoes was only $10.91 out the door. The young man, Patrick that served me was as nice a young fellow as you'll meet. I wish they'd franchise in Hendersonville, TN. CJ, the cook is every bit as nice as Patrick. He cooks like he started the restaurant. This is where I'll eat supper while I'm in Tupelo. I had heard good things about the Bishop's Saltillo location, but had never made the trip out there. When the Belden location open, I decided it was time to try. First off, the service was horrible. No one greeted us when we came in the door. In fact it was about 5 minutes before any one acknowledged our presence. When I placed my order, the staff seemed very irritated by my questions about what came with a meal. The meal was about $25 for two people. We were told to have a seat and my order would be ready soon. I ate the pulled pork sandwich while a friend ate their ribs. The pulled pork was flavorless and greasy. The sauce served with my sandwich tasted like I was drinking straight from a bottle of vinegar. My friend's ribs were dry and had very little meat considering what we paid for the meal. I was very disappointed with my trip to Bishop's and do not plan to be back. read more

I saw that this BBQ restaurant had high Yelp reviews as we were traveling to Georgia from Arkansas. As far as directions, it's really easy to get to right off the exit. I usually get brisket and Brunswick Stew at these types of places and was amazed to see that they didn't offer Brunswick Stew! The brisket was tender and they gave you plenty of meat. My sides were mac n cheese which looked like Kraft Mac and their Gator Tators which were homemade thin potato chips which were nice but if I'm honest they were a bit over seasoned. At the end of he day I'll probably try a new BBQ place on my way through Mississippi next time. read more

I had to wait on hold for a while, nobody picked the phone back up so I had to hang up and call again... I ordered a half order of macho nacho with extra cheese sauce, when I got there I had a full order and hardly any cheese sauce on it with no extra cheese in the bag, but was charged for the extra cheese..... I love this place and go here one to two times a week and i've never had a bad experience, but today was terrible. read more

Foodgasim. I have traveled throughout the south and this is the best BBQ I have had so far. Got the Macho Nachos (half order) and ribs to go. The smell in my truck on my long 1.5 mile ride back to hotel was killing me. I got to my room and almost forgot to wash my hands. I tore into the nachos... wish I got the full order however, I wouldn't have had room for the ribs. For sides I choose mac n cheese and garlic mashed. In a blink of the eye they were gone. SO GOOD! I shed a tear because they were gone but I still had ribs! The bones fell off and the perfectly smoked meat gave me the aforementioned foodgasm. The sauce they serve with it is spectacular, not like a lot of BBQ joints giving you 6 sauces... this one gives you something special that I actually dipped all of the above in. This was my first visit on night one of a one week stay so I am sure I will explore more of the menu and post more later. read more

Usually they are very good, but the past two times I have gotten something from there, it had bones or grissle in it. That's a turn off for me. read more
