As part of our search for a great date-night spot in Bellevue, tried out this spot back in February. Immediately when we walked in it felt a bit stuffy and we felt like we were on the younger end of the crowd, even though we're nearing 40. However, we were dressed to impress and ready for a nice meal. We were nestled into a table with a banquette on one side with a nice view around. Our server was relatively prompt up front, but did not have much insight on the menu other than to direct us to the most expensive items when asked for recommendations (big ding in my book when not accompanied by why the dish/wine is great). We seemed to quickly fall off the radar of our waiter. I ordered fish over a risotto which was fine (although surprised it didn't have any vegetables), however the rice was crispy like a korean hot stone bimimbap throughout so I sent it back. I waited over 15 minutes for my main to return while my husband enjoyed his meal. Upon returning part of the fish had disappeared magically from the plate, but the risotto was palatable. After asking to see the dessert menu, it took our waiter over 15 minutes to come back at which point we weren't able to wait the additional 20 min for the souffle which was too bad (babysitter at home). We ordered what he claimed was his favorite thing only to find it to be a cold piece of cake that wasn't very memorable. As I read other reviews the service appears to be a real highlight which was not our experience and the food was good but not great. read more

We came here for Thursday dinner and were able to get the last outdoor table available. I ordered the rigatoni bolognese- the sauce was really good but the pasta could be better. My husband had the garlic chicken which was delicious; the waiter said it was their best seller. I also liked their house bread. Outdoor tables are under a covered tent but there's few tables and plenty of air flow so it feels pretty safe. read more

We phoned in the order for pick up around 4:20 PM on Father's Day to support a local restaurant and were told the the food would be ready by 5. We got to the restaurant around 4:50 to inform the front of house that we had placed a phone order. She said she would look into it. There were about 7 staff members running around looking busy but there were no guests at all. Two groups came in and were promptly seated. We were completely ignored while staff seemed to pretend to attend to imaginary guests. After nearly 10 minutes of waiting, I had to ask if we could just cancel the order since we had been waiting for nearly 10 minutes inside and the order was phoned in over 40 minutes ago for 2 dishes and a side fries. This is where things got interesting. The owner actually argued with me said it's only been five minutes. All this time our food had been sitting on the table and clearly ready for pick up. As I walked away with the food, I could hear the owner guy saying to the front of house that this wasn't her fault. It is one thing to be snubbed by the front of house, but being snubbed by the owner is quite frankly unforgivable. If this is how they treat take-out orders where there's normally minimal interactions, I can only imagine the horror of dining in there and being on the receiving end of such arrogance. In line with most negative reviews, bad service and poor attitude appear to be the theme here. The service was non existent with rude and dismissive staff. Food wise, it was rather decent but the Togo menu items are prepared differently from the regular menu ones so be careful about what you are ordering. Its a shame that the food was actually not bad, but even doing takeout is a struggle. Not sure if we will be coming back. We might give it another go or so since this was our first time here. read more

We were invited to dinner by some friends who told us this is their favorite place to dine in Bellevue. It has a sleek interior with intimate lighting, beautiful art on the walls, and a pleasing color palette. We were shown to a seat by the window where we could enjoy looking out onto the city streets during our meal. Our server was top notch. He's waited on our friends many times who are regulars here, and they couldn't say enough amazing things about him. He was friendly, incredibly professional, and wonderfully knowledgeable about the menu. While they do not have gluten free designations on their menu, there are a lot of items either naturally gf or the kitchen can make substitutions. Luckily with the help of our excellent server, it was not difficult to order gf here. Two in our group tried the crispy garlic chicken which they agreed had good flavor but was not very crispy unfortunately. Our friend had a fish entree that is one of his favorites, and I ordered a very tender and delicious lamb shank. The lamb was so flavorful and perfectly cooked that I quickly became the envy of the table. I loved the upscale innovative menu and the beautiful plating. We were seated and waited and waited. After 15 minutes, we got up to leave as our waitress finally arrived. She apologized and told us that she simply didn't see us. Her service and friendliness thereafter was very good. That's where the second star was earned. It would have been a single star otherwise. We ordered the rigatoni bolognese and while it looked good, the pasta was hard. It had the texture of a stale tortilla chip; the kind where it kind of crunches but your teeth sort of stick together. Our server promptly took it away and after a few minutes, I'm assuming the cook came out with a new dish which was fine. He couldn't leave well enough alone. He decided that we needed to be schooled about what "al dente" means. Are you kidding?! I've eaten many perfectly al dente pasta dishes at Italian restaurants with ITALIAN CHEF proprietors. He even told us that he was going to take our returned entree home for his own dinner (ewww!). Nice service after a bit of a delay was ok. Know-it-all condescending cooked stopped my star count at 2. Really had a rough start at this place. Condescending attitude from the management and waitstaff early on in the dinner. Ultimately leading to a request getting a new server, Manager/owner came by the table to apologize and suggested a reset. Things got much from that point on. My first time back since my first review. Made a dinner reservation for 2 for my boyfriend's birthday at 7:30. I called ahead earlier that night to tell them we probably weren't going to make it at that time and they moved the reservation to 8 pm for us. When we first arrived, we noticed the restaurant was incredibly loud. I couldn't hear anything my boyfriend was saying unless we spoke directly into each other's ears. The interior of the restaurant is pretty small. So seating is pretty close together when the restaurant is packed with customers. We were seated in a 4-top which I really appreciate because I love having the extra space. The server we had seemed like he was in a hurry to be somewhere. Throughout dinner we both felt pretty rushed. We didn't get a good chance to look at the menus before he started asking us what we wanted to drink or for dinner. I stopped touching my plate for just a minute and he was already asking if we were finished and wanted boxes. My crispy garlic chicken and my boyfriend's filet were both amazing. But I don't think we'll be returning anytime soon. read more

The food was actually very good, but the service was horrendous. First off, about 25 minutes for drinks to show up, and our waiter was a total Dick! When asked what kind of whiskey they had, he simply said "it's in the book" and walked off. Obviously he had more important things to do than take our orders because he seemed totally put off by us. Then when he came back to take the drink order, he acted again like we were wasting his time, write down the drink order, and walked away while my dad was trying to order an appetizer. Anthony (our waiter) was very Curt in how he talked to us, offered no suggestions or help, and very much seemed like we were a total inconvenience. When we asked if he'd take our photo for my aunt's 70th birthday, he said he couldn't because of Covid... you know, after handling all of our dishes, the check, the pen, the drinks, etc. all of a sudden it was the phone that was going to get everyone sick. If it wasn't for Anthony and the slow pace of everything, we'd probably have had a good time. Won't be back and the staff needs to step up their game for what they charge. But hats off to the chefs. This was always SUPER DELICIOUS-HARDLY ANY OTHER RESTAURANT CARRIES THIS ITEM-THE COD IS ALSO DELICIOUS!!! My husband's favorite is the Quiche -he has also tasted steak frite and he loved it too. Warm welcome and meet a friend at Bis On Main on Sunday early dinner at 5:15pm. It was a very comfortable, cozy, nice atmosphere inside. Service guy was a nicely greeted us and suggested some special meals. We ordered fresh oysters (seasonal). It was a great Fragrance and fresh. Melted my mouth. Both ordered House Green Salad & Filet Mignon. We could shared a salad (Lemon olive oil vinaigrette or buttermilk bleu cheese) Filet Mignon (Tri-colored baby potatoes, Cipollini onions, bacon lardon, kale, white truffle Bearnaise. $50) and one Filet Mignon asked domino glass sauce. Filet Mignon was a great size and tender but bacon Larson was a little bit salty and hard to bites. Dessert was a Spicy Pear sherbet. Perfect tastes and nice to eat end of meals. I ate here last week during a work function. The menu was set by the Company, so I didn't get to try other items on the menu. My choices ended up being a caprese salad, scallops, and an apple crumble for dessert. The food was okay, for this setting and price range. The salad was the best of the three things. Good portion on scallops but tasted average. Apple crumble had a good scoop of ice cream. My neighbor ordered the garlic chicken. That tasted better than the scallops. See my pictures. read more

Second visit here, actually forgot I'd been here before. Firstly, the menu prices on their website are vastly different than in person. Steak is $20 more. Secondly, their online menu might not be up-to-date, it wasn't for me and they didn't have the thing I was really excited for. I ordered the mushroom risotto with spring vegetables but no mushrooms. I can't have them and they said that would be ok and there would be asparagus instead. Food came and there's mushrooms everywhere. So I send it back but now my partner has a meal and I'm just sitting here. Second risotto comes but no asparagus, just a few pieces of cauliflower, diced bell peppers and no flavor. I didn't say anything because I was over it. But my partner mentions it (when our waiter finally checks in on us and I'm halfway done). He offers us a side of asparagus, we accept. I mix it in with the risotto, much better. Bill comes, were charged for the side of asparagus. I'm happy to pay for service & food but never of them were worth it here. The service was bad, my partner and I were without drinks for a while (including water). Side note, the bread service is free but you have to know to ask for it because it won't be offered. read more

We had a great evening celebrating my wife's new job. The King Salmon special was great and I'm a fan of duck with which is on the menu, it was great as well. Not to many places serve duck. Our server Bree was great, she recommended a great Pinot from Oregon and referred us to the bar that the owner Bobby runs a few doors down. I got to meet Bobby today since I left my CC at the bar. This restaurant is only good for drinking and some menus items. The food is just ok and everything is very pricey. The truffle fries is from McDonalds. The service is just ok. The seating and interior decorating is too formal for me. If you want to spend time drinking wine, eating ok food, and paying too much for then because it's corporate card, then this is the place for you. I hosted a private lunch for 28 people at Bis on Main and I couldn't have been happier! I worked with Lisa to get the menu planned and button up all the details in advance and she was incredibly responsive, sweet, and easy to communicate with. The day of our event the room was beautifully set. Custom menus were printed and the servers were some of the best we've ever worked with at any restaurant. The kitchen team got all of our food out at the same time and it was hot, well seasoned, and delicious. I can't recommend Bis any higher! This is a comfy, cozy restaurant with beautiful artwork...the perfect place for a girls' lunch. Our meal was fabulous with warm friendly service. They offer a very nice wine list and I have fallen hard for Washington wine producer Mark Ryan (I think there may now be a possible girls' trip to Walla Walla in our future.) One of the soup du jour was cauliflower which my friend loved. My Dungeness Crab Cakes where delicious. Again, we loved the Mark Ryan Monkey Wrench. I recently dined at Bis On Main for the first time and walked away with an overall good impression. First, make sure you take advantage of the free valet in their back parking lot. Upon entering the restaurant, I was quite surprised by how spacious the dining rooms were since the space looks quite small from the outside. You'll know immediately that you're not in your run-of-the-mill restaurant; this place oozes of sophistication. Cocktails are expensive but good. Definitely try the Silk Teddy if you're looking for a smooth libation. We kicked off our order with 2 appetizers: The Forest Mushrooms & Polenta and Salmon Gravlax. The mushrooms & polenta was okay (I'm not a fan of the polenta texture), but the star was the Salmon Gravlax. The combo of the salmon with the crispy and delicious potato cake was perfection. The truffle fries were pretty damn amazing, and you get a TON of them! Throw your diet out of the window and treat yourself to these. Another shining star was the caesar salad which is the poster child of exactly what a caesar should be. All the anchiovy goodness was present and center, and the well-seasoned croutons tasted homemade. My dinner mates ordered the Filet Mignon and the New York Strip Steak. Both gave their dishes rave reviews. I, on the other hand, ordered the crispy chicken based on all the positive Yelp reviews. If I'm being honest, the chicken wasn't that crispy...and while it was good, it wasn't anything to write home about. I could easily replicate this dish at home, and the flavors weren't that dynamic. Not awful, but not great. Meh. All in all, I was impressed by the service and quality of food at Bis on Main. If you're looking for a fine dining restaurant but tired of the typical John Howie/Daniel's Broiler/ El Gaucho rotation, make sure to add Bis on Main to your list! read more
