Picked up a to-go order for dinner. If you live on this end of Pearland it is the go to spot of Indian food. 3.5 stars edging to 4. Friendly, fast, and affordable. Ordered: Goat Rogan Josh: Solid, not the best Rogan Josh but It was good. Watch out for bones in the Goat dishes. Chicken Vindaloo: Good, extra oily good flavor and a good bit of spice. Chicken Curry: Good, nice chunks of chicken in a thick spicy sauce. Dal Makhani: ok, not the best Dal I have every had, but it was ok. Saag Paneer: This was Solid, would order it again. Every dish comes with plane rice. The rice was ok. As you can probably tell, the food is good but not great. I had nothing really bad to say about any of the dishes. However I have definitely had better of each offering at other restaurants. I would say if you live on this end of Pearland and you are craving Indo-Pac cuisine this will satisfy your craving. My total order came to around $60, however between me and my wife we had 6 meals out of it. So $10 a meal for Indian is not bad, especially considering I eat like 5 servicing at a time. PRO Tip: Swadeshi Groceries store is right next door. Go there to pick up some canned chutneys, Pani puri, or frozen Naan to accompany your meal. read more

I really like eating here. Ever since the first time I ate here, I've eaten here nearly every time I come back to Pearland. The place and food aren't anything super fancy or amazing, but everything we've ordered has been reliably good and we've tried a lot of the stuff on the menu. My current favorite is maybe the mattar paneer. I also like their palak paneer, bhatura, masala dosa, and their gobi Manchurian. I'd never think to order chicken fried rice from an Indian restaurant but it's surprisingly good! Cut Mirchi is very very spicy. Buffet is also good but I think I prefer ordering from their menu. Price is pretty good; I make more rice at home to eat with my leftovers and one order usually is 2-3 meals for me. We tried Biryani Express for the first time and were overall pleased! It wasn't our favorite curry we've ever tried, but it was solid food with a good flavor profile. We ordered butter chicken and goat vindaloo, both of which were tasty. I expected the vindaloo to be spicy based upon the menu description, but it seemed quite mild to me. The goat and chicken were both very tender! We ordered basmati rice, butter naan, and garlic naan, as well. Great curry dishes. The Dum Ka Chicken is only served at this restaurant in the Houston region n they make it very delicious. It is very rich, creamy and flavorful. It's also kinda spicy, but just right n not too much. The Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala and Saag Paneer are also great curry dishes here. Came here to pick up some to go dinner. We got the Gobi Manchurian ($8.99) and it is my new favorite thing! Absolutely delicious! I also got the butter chicken ($10.99). While the flavor was great there were only two chunks of chicken and a slice of bell pepper. It was mostly just gravy. I had to add some broccoli to it just make it a meal. I had the garlic naan and that had a good flavor but it didn't have much char to give it that crispy exterior. read more

Their food is delicious but the service we received was quite questionable. We couldn't tell if we were supposed to just sit down or order up at the front, so my wife went and asked and was told we sit and will be waited on. There were 2 workers. One who stayed by the register and another who started cleaning tables after we had sat for over 5 minutes. My wife and I were the only ones in there and they still didn't attend to us until we started looking back at them like "hey, we're here". The only down fall is the goat meat was very little portion and was mostly just the bones we got. With barely any meat on it. For how pricey it was. That's why we only rated it 4 stars. I'd say I'm a self proclaimed Indian food expert, especially when it comes to biryani. Biryani Express has decent biryani but it's clear that they cook the meat fully before mixing with the rice instead of the true Hyderabadi way of cooking biryani by mixing raw ingredients and cooking. This lead to a drier than I'd like chicken. The curries were solid and spicy. Unlike most Indian restaurants, they didn't ask my preferred spice level. Luckily, I have a big spice tolerance so even if the curries came out on the spicier side, I'd be okay. I really do want to give Biryani Express 4 stars but there service was really lacking. We went at lunch on a Friday and it took nearly 2 hours. The restaurant was only 1/2 full but it was possible that the waiter was also the cook because he kept running back to the kitchen and spending long periods back there. Also, we never got water refills even after asking twice. It definitely will not be a stop for a quick lunch. They'd really benefit by hiring more staff. read more

We visited here today for the lunch buffet. The ambience was calm and casual, I think this wouldn't be bad for a date out before a movie. :) We came right at 11:30 when the buffet starts, so it was very fresh. There wasn't too many people here, which surprised me as there's not many restaurants like this in the area. They had a great selection of things on the buffet. The menu was much broader and had several items that looked tasty. On the buffet, I tried out plenty of different things. The Chana masala was some of the best I've had. The butter chicken wasn't too spicy, but understand they have to tone it down a little to make the masses happy. The naan was good, I was very pleased with it! Very fluffy and fresh when it came out. The owner was very pleasant, he answered all my questions and made sure our drinks never went empty. I am happy with our lunch choice here, I anticipate coming back the next time we are in the area. read more

The food was decent but there is some room for improvement. I ordered to go and some of my food was fresh some of it did not appear to be. I choose the chili shrimp appetizer as my main dish which was super flavorful and I would definitely recommend. Since it was just an appetizer I opted for a side or rice to go along with the shrimp. The rice was not hot so it kind of cooled down my shrimp. I also got the garlic naan. The bread was wrapped in foil paper so I knew it was going to be hot and fresh however it was not. I only ate half and saved it for the next day when I was in the mood to reheat it in the oven; it was waaay better when it was heated through. The last food item I got was the vegetable samosas. They were filled up pretty nicely and they came with good dipping sauces. For my drink/dessert I got the mango lassi which was decent; I tasted more yogurt than mango. Overall I may give them another try and get the butter chicken or the chicken Biryani. read more

I've never tried this dish but told the cashier what I liked and what taste I was looking for and he suggested this meal. It's a chicken thigh and gravy dish with a side of rice. I kind of wish this place was fine dining with how much the restaurant has to offer. The service is prompt and they genuinely care about their guests. Such a clean establishment which is a plus, checking a restroom can give you insight on how they maintain the restaurant. Now to the food so many choices on the menu, which to my belief must be family recipes. Maybe because the intense flavors and tenderness of the meat which was delightful. I had to go over the top and tried goat, I thought it would be a weird flavor or texture nope it was perfect. The nann is great first time having the pastry now I didn't really know if it was suppose to be crispy or not, but the garlic buttery taste was amazing which made it all the best. I've been ordering from here since relocating to this area. I have only eaten inside twice and prefer to do delivery since it's located where there tends to be more traffic. The inside ambience is pretty lacking but is a nice place to have a quiet, basic lunch/dinner. The food has been good and I like that it's fairly consistent. I have ordered the chicken curry, vegetable curry, samosas, chicken vindaloo, vegetable biryani, and the okra. The only dish that seems to change in the flavor is the vegetable curry. It used to be the same sauce as the chicken curry but lately has been this creamy version of it. . If I had to pick what to improve it'd be for them to offer combination plates versus ordering everything a la carte. The dishes come with white rice but sometimes having to order 5 dishes to get a little bit of everything is pricey. The naan is also extra and doesn't come with the food. Overall, the food is always fresh and delicious, the customer service is great even when the delivery company isn't. It's still one of my favorite, local places to eat! read more

Biryani Express has been our local go to for awhile now and the food is always consistent and tastes amazing!
