My family and I decided to try Birria Spot while vacationing in Savannah. When we entered they had a few tables but they were dirty and I had to clean it myself. We ordered the Birria tacos, a Carne Asada taco, a Birria bowl, and a Birria Crunchstack. The tacos tasted average. The crunchstack was just okay. The Birria bowl was the biggest disappointment, it was all broth and barely enough meat. The refried beans and Mexican rice were bland. The horchata barely had any sweetness to it. it was my very first time here. place was empty so i should've known something was up. i ordered the wrong thing by accident and they couldn't even exchange it for the correct thing i wanted (even though they were literally the same price AND i wasn't even looking for a refund). thankfully what i ended up still receiving wasn't awful, though it still would have been nice to get what i initially wanted. they would probably have a lot more customers if they were more compensating. ima just stick to my flacos!! read more

Was excited when I heard we were getting a new restaurant that specializes in birria. Most places around the area don't do birria well in my opinion so this was definitely a nice addition to Savannah. Been here twice since they opened and loved everything I've tried so far. Great quality meat and good consommé, easily the best I've had locally. They have all the different versions of birria like the pizza, ramen and even egg rolls. They have other food options as well but I think most people will be coming for the birria only lol. Wow, just wow! Lots of people are making Birria tacos and some do it well and some make a stab and miss big time, but Birria Spot has nailed it. Maybe some of the best tacos, period, I've ever had. The Birria dip that comes with the red tacos is worth drinking up like a fine wine. The meat was lean, the salsa had a complimentary sweetness to it. Chips were OK, but they weren't the star. The good: Easy to order online and pickup was right on time. Coworker loved her tacos. The bad: Birria Ramen - this was like having packaged cheap Ramen noodles, dumped into a thick Birria sauce. The eggs were hard boiled, maybe two radishes, no cilantro that I could find, and felt like a massive bowl of spaghetti o's textured noodles in a heavy sauce. Enjoyed my shrimp Diablo burrito. Diablo sauce is tasty, with a little kick to it. Had them hold the pico and double the rice instead of beans. The shrimp is made fresh to order, which is nice. Chips on the side taste homemade. Would be interested going back. read more

The birria ramen was really good. Flavorful, rich, and clearly made with care. Whoever was cooking in the back knows what they're doing. One of the better birria ramens I've had. The space itself is a small hut, crowded but fairly clean, which I expected given the popularity. It's more grab-and-go vibes than sit-and-stay, so that part didn't bother me. Unfortunately, the customer service was lacking. The interaction up front felt rushed and not very welcoming. The woman cooking in the back was kind and stood out in a positive way, but overall the service experience took away from the visit. California transplant here who's been waiting for a better take on Mexican offerings in Savannah. Wouldn't describe the bírria-focused items on the menu as the MOST out-of-this-world bírria I've ever had, but no question that the food here is leaps and bounds better than any other mexican-presenting restaurant between downtown and the south side of Savannah. In my book it's reason enough to give it 5 stars. And despite the service model being limited to an ordering-counter with table drop off, tip the staff!
