i really wanted to like vida baking co. because everyone talks it up, but honestly it just didn't…read morelive up to the hype for me. the place looks cute and cozy when you walk in, but it was way more crowded than i expected and kinda stressful just trying to stand in line. nobody really explained where the line even started so people were just awkwardly hovering. i got a latte and an acai bowl and both were just... okay at best. the coffee tasted straight up burnt and bitter, like the espresso shot sat way too long or something. i still drank it because it wasn't cheap, but it definitely wasn't enjoyable. the acai bowl looked pretty but the fruit didn't seem very fresh and the texture was kinda watery. the wait felt really long for just coffee and food. i don't mind waiting if something is amazing, but nothing really stood out. the staff weren't rude or anything, just seemed overwhelmed and not very welcoming. what bothered me most though was that the place just felt unsanitary. i saw an employee making a sandwich wearing only a single glove instead of two and it just kinda grossed me out. maybe there's a reason for that but it didn't look very clean or professional. maybe i just went on an off day, but for the prices i expected way better quality and service. i left feeling disappointed and still kinda hungry which sucks for a bakery experience.

Arrived about 6 pm on a Saturday night. The restaurant was about 20 percent full. The paper menu had food stains all over it. We ordered dinner which included a salad. The Green Godess salad was terribly overdressed and took 30 minutes to arrive to the table. My filet mignon when it finally arrived much later than the salad was WAY over cooked. Totally BROWN throughout. The server did not check back on us after delivering the steak to remedy any problems and the steak WAS a problem. The steak came with side of "au gratin" potatoes that were lukewarm and had a fat cap of lukewarm cheddar cheese on top. Ugh. Finally, another 20 minutes later when I did not touch my steak, I showed her the "cook" on my steak which was brown all the way through even though I ordered medium rare. She said it was "the light" outdoors that made the steak look overdone and the steak was properly done. No. I think not. It was a 55.00 dollar 8 oz. steak, not hard to cook right? It was inedible. I then asked her why the wait was so long....1 hour to get dinner? She said the restaurant was super busy and there was only 1 cook in the kitchen. She added that we were walk-in's and that we should not have been seated. Uhm....the restaurant was pretty much empty when we arrived. When we left about 1.5 hours later the restaurant was only about 25% full. Super disappointing dinner. We had dinner at another fabulous steakhouse the night before and every detail was perfect. This restaurant has seen better days. I used to come here years ago but I am just letting you know that you can do SO much better at so many other places now!

It tasted like real fruit?! What a concept! Not overly sweetened and so refreshing. I won't be able to go back to our usual boba place because the bar has been raised. They have a few seats but the window and it was fun to watch cars go by while we enjoyed our mango boba. The employees greeted us with smiles while answering all my questions. Will definitely make this a regular stop when going up through Ashland!
