What an excellent little gem in Fairhaven!!! We have lived here for 3 years and have kept saying we wanted to try this spot for breakfast. Finally the stars aligned and we had the opportunity for brunch. We walked in, and it was busy but there were still a few seats open.the staff was friendly and got us menus and drinks promptly. Our orders were taken, and the food came out at a normal pace. Now, for the food. Wowzers! Breakfast has always been one of those meals for me that I feel I can cook better at home, but still go out because I'm too lazy to. ESPECIALLY BISCUITS AND GRAVY. Every single time I try biscuits and gravy from a restaurant, it's that flour-y white salt sauce that lacks any body or sustenance...even if it's coming from the place with the behemoth biscuits and pancakes. But Billy's has got their recipe down, and I felt a little worried that I may have competition to my granny's recipe. I got the Billy Platter, which came with eggs, hashbrowns, bacon, sausage AND a biscuit with gravy. I was able to sample almost everything I wanted on the menu, and I loved that option. My hubby got the cor ed beef hash skillet, with sourdough toast. Their toast and homemade strawberry jelly alone will have me coming back! His hash was great, and had wonderful flavor. The place is a cute little shop. Little cute items on the wall they pick up from all over, to make themselves unique. The server, Rachel was stretched a bit thin, the other server must have gone to break during the rush. She greeted me with a smile and told me about the specials. it seemed really good sounding. I had my heart set on the corned beef hash! They got the hash to me in about 10 minutes. The corned beef was deli sliced style. Not from a roast, you would get when making it from scratch. It did taste good with the country gravy and egg. Overall it was made well and had a good flavor to it. The server was very busy and pleasing to have. I would rate this one of the better places to each breakfast at in the North Whatcom county area. read more

Fabulous staff! Delicious, and generous portions. The Yummiest hot chocolate! Friendly staff and customers. Perfect hot cakes. Small cafe, so can only go with a small group. But they have put two larger tables outside for the warmer months. Nice plan! Food was incredible, staff and service were amazing and the ambiance was buzzing in all the right ways. We stopped here on our way home from camping and we were not disappointed. Do not eat here unless you want our town to end up like Seattle. This business openly encourages the homeless to camp out in front and allows them to harass customers. It is a cash only business, so they know you have cash and corner you near the door with the pretense of opening it. As a woman, I felt unsafe even walking in. I had to park down the street since I was nervous to leave my car unattended. Good thing too, since I witnessed him follow several people out to their cars. Made for a very uncomfortable experience. My family's first time here. Tried to go to the TrainWreck across the street but it was 21+. I am so glad we went here instead. I had the country fried steak, the wife had the farmer's skillet. One daughter had the cinnamon roll pancakes and the other two did biscuits and gravy. Everything was cooked fast and perfect. My hash browns must have been waiting for me to come in way ahead of time because they were perfectly crispy and tender at the same time. The country fried steak was huge and didn't disappoint. Perfectly seasoned with plenty of gravy. Eggs over medium were perfect. Good job! I'll be recommending this place to anybody that is wanting breakfast in the Burlington area. Husband and i decided to try breakfast/brunch here after reading good reviews. Unfortunately, the food was very disappointing. The lady waiting on us was very nice and made sure coffee cups were filled, so no complaints about the staff. I ordered the pancakes with the full house and my husband ordered "the Billy". The bacon was good, but the eggs and pancakes were mediocre at best. The biscuits and gravy were very, very salty, and lacked pretty much any other flavor. The sausage had a weird taste. ***3-Star Review solely due to Customer Service*** This place is definitely not accustomed to outsiders! Me and Lando walked in and it took them close to 10 minutes to even acknowledge us! I felt really uncomfortable like we weren't welcome because we are not a cookie cutter couple! Others come in after us and were spoke to and sat down immediately! UNCALLED FOR He food was okay nothing over the top but I'm not gonna say it was bad either! I had just a steak and egg omelette which was actually very good the steak was moist and tender and had the right amount of supplementary ingredients! The hash browns could've used some more salt or something but they were good! Lando had the crepe breakfast with sausage and two eggs and the overall was good the crepes just had too much cream in the center and you couldn't even taste the actual crepes! Next is the coffee it was not good the brewed coffee was so dark that three half and half's wouldn't even lighten it up! And the espresso Lando got was sugar and water well it tasted like it anyway! In conclusion if you are a normal every day couple or person this probably will be a 4-5 Star joint but otherwise I would stray away from this place food is decent but service is rude and unwelcoming! read more

We were on our way back to Marysville and looking for a good place for breakfast that had chicken fried steak. I see a lot of reviews that say a place has great CFS and gravy but they obviously have no clue as to what home made is versus right off the Sisco truck or powdered gravy. My favorite place for breakfast. We drive an hour to get here about once a week. They have the kindest staff and I have never been disappointed in their food. My husband loves their chicken fried steak and I change up what it get all the time. They are happy to make accommodations for dietary needs and the coffee is fabulous. read more

I ordered some pancakes for my kid. The first plate they served had one pancake that was burnt black on one side. I asked the server if she could kindly replace it with another. This was the first breakfast place we tried in the area and it did not disappoint! He got the chicken fried steak and I got an omelette. They had a lot of toast options which is always a plus in my book. Even their regular coffee was the best I've had! We were both very pleasantly surprised. Only disappointment was styrofoam for their to go containers. With the availability of recyclable or compostable options, that was a surprising disappointment. Hopefully they'll decide to change that in the near future. The food was super tasty, filling, and worth the price. The staff was friendly and quick too. Three Cs: cream cheese crepes! We ended up here at 7 am on a trip south and ordered a Farmer's Skillet and Cream Cheese Crepes to share between the two of us. Service was very warm, our waitress was bubbly and attentive. The food came out in 10 minutes! The skillet was very good. Cheesy, lots of sausage gravy and meat; the potatoes were cubed, browned on the outside and fit in perfectly with the rest of the dish. We got a pair of sunny side eggs on top, it comes with toast and jam as well. Very filling. As for the crepes, you get three. They are freshly made and filled to the brim with really smooth, rich cream cheese and topped with berries and a bit of whip. I haven't had crepes this good for a long time. They are totally worth it and the portion won't make your stomach hurt. Apparently these guys recently renovated and everything is shiny and clean. Really easy to find off the highway as well. Mixed bag on this place. Our first visit we had really good blueberry pancakes and crispy bacon. Both were really good. They seemed a bit understaffed at the time but I did note several more waitstaff arrived while we ate our meal. My next visit I put them to the test. One of my favorite things for breakfast is biscuits and gravy. Another is chicken fried steak. On this occasion I ordered the latter but asked for a biscuit instead of toast AND a small side of gravy. Sadly the CF steak wasn't anything special :-( More disappointing was the biscuit and gravy. The gravy was thick and "gloppy". It was almost as if they didn't cook the flour long enough in the roux. And it was really bland, without much flavor. The biscuit was equally disappointing. It wasn't light and flaky the way I prefer mine. Rather it was heavy, "cakey" and crumbly. Some may like that style of biscuit but not me. So, what we have is a 4 Star rating for our first visit and a 2 Star rating for my second, rounding out to a 3 Star rating. I'm sure some will thoroughly disagree with me, as this place is very popular locally. But I've had much better biscuits and gravy and way better chicken fried steak. And that is generally the measure I use to judge good from bad. That said, they did a great job on the BB pancakes and bacon. The prices are ok running about $8-$12 per person before coffee and tip. I probably will return on occasion but only if I'm already coming to town for some other reason. I wouldn't travel that far out of my way when there are several other restaurants closer that are more to my liking. read more
