Food was great, I had a turkey, bacon grilled on sourdough, left off the mayo, tomato and cheese by request, they asked if butter was okay and I said yes. My husband had the pastrami with mozzarella grilled on rye. They had canned drinks with cold glasses for the Woodinville Raven pilsner, I had a plastic cup with ice with my diet coke. Quite disappointed with the service. Food was decent, the service was absolute crap. I wasn't too sure if it was because I am female or a brown female. The waitress I had was extremely rude and short with me. I noticed the difference in her demeanor towards the other clientele and myself. She told them the day specials, I was never given that option. She dropped my food off, didn't ask if I needed anything else, just said here you go and walked off. Not once did she come check on me since my food was dropped off, but she checked on everyone else around me. I also started the stop watch to see how long I'd sit here after I finished my food, 15 minutes. I had to get up to get my check & a to go drink. Ambiance was nice, great views. Love this place. The food is delicious. Simple and high quality ingredients. There are plenty of tables. It's small and quaint. The tuna melt is the best I have had in Western Washington. The sandwiches are great! We have driven by here so many times and never noticed that it was a restaurant. It's right on State St in Sedro and should be loud but it feels like your in a comfortable garden! The women who were working there were so nice, funny and helpful. The lunch is really good, but what is really impressive is their homemade Nanaimo bars. I discovered Nanaimo bars 40 years ago and have them whenever I see them on the menu in a variety of restaurants in Canada and Washington. I've even had them in Nanaimo! But these are the very best that I've ever had. I can't say why they are different but the base cake is perfectly moist and loaded with coconut, the custard is that same mix used in any recipe for these, and the chocolate is obviously high quality. Me and my husband walked in for coffee before our hike, and I greeted the old lady in the front. I said hello and she instantly ignored me with silence and asked me right away. What is it that you want? What would you like to order? I told her I'm new here so I do need a few moments to look at the menu to which then she just stared at me and then walked away, I felt unwelcome and as if she wanted to get the order out-of-the-way no greeting or anything bad experience would not recommend. I love the garage cafe, I get a my favorite sandwich a couple times a month. But I was very disappointed this last visit when I took my daughter from out of town there for a nice lunch. The waitress took orders from two tables that sat after us. Both of our sandwiches came out wrong, after I teased her about not writing the order down.
