You know what it is it's a good place. The ambience is a traditional old school type of cafe. The booths are a little tight. The service is professional there's nothing to complain about there. Now the food is what caught me by surprise. If you have sensitive teeth this is a good place for you. They have a wide variety of foods from burgers to seafood etc. however, what ever you order is gentle on the teeth. My fries and country fried steak was crunchy but very easy to chew. This is one of those "hole in the wall" sort of places. It appears to be a repurposed fast food joint, possibly a Taco Bell. Anyway, it's now run by a nice couple. All their food is prepared to order and fresh. As an aside, this means it isn't cheap. Not extravagant, but not cheap. That said we felt it was worth the price and will come back. I had a bowl of their clam chowder. It was really good chowder, obviously house made as evidenced by the various sized chunks of potato, celery and onion. It had plenty of clams too and was perfectly creamy and thick. Not gloppy thick but just right. The wife had the cream cheese stuffed French toast with raspberry sauce. It looked like more of a dessert item to me - three pieces, cut in half on the diagonal, stacked on top of each other, stuffed with the cream cheese and topped with the raspberry sauce and a big dollop of whipped cream. She loved it!!! It is now her favorite breakfast item, surpassing her old favorite; triple berry crepes. Service was ok, it took a while to get the food, but that's how it is in a small joint with freshly prepared food. We'll worth the wait and cost. read more

RUDEST service I've ever experienced. I took my mother in to get lunch, had to use the restroom first. We were confronted by a waitress demanding we order food if we plan on using her restroom and told us we better not expect much because she was too busy to get to us soon. She proceeded to wipe the table with a rag, sweeping food onto my lap then throwing menus at us. What looks like an old fast food joint has been updated to match its diner offerings. We tried the Riverside Cafe for the first time today. The servers were friendly, and the restaurant, although a little on the run-down side, was clean. Both my dining companion and I had the chorizo omelet, which came with hash browns and toast. The portions were a little on the small side, but the food wasn't bad. We've only been here twice and the first time we recall that it was good food but the seats were all wood. Years later we returned because we saw that they've added cushions to their booths and have ok reviews. It's possible that we should have stuck with the breakfast options if that's their specialty. Instead, we ordered 2 orders of chili with corn bread to start. We waited a little longer to order our main dishes so they didn't show up at the same time. It took a long time to get the one order of chili and cornbread. It was supposed to be 2, one order for each of us. They apologized but offered nothing otherwise. We shared a plate of nachos and the appetizer platter. These were just ok. The bill they left was entirely someone else's and about $10 more. We brought that to their attention. First off this bill was too expensive for the quality of food we ordered. Chili cheese fries were lacking cheese and the chili was not good. The french fries were soggy and did not have salt on them. The clam chowder was OK but it did have bacon which clam chowder should not have bacon. Kind of reminded me of a potato soup. Chili cheese fries should not have green peppers floating around in there. We also ordered a BLT a burger but they did not have avocado and sent us a BLT on sourdough instead. I'm sad that I spent $80 on this meal. I would not return and neither will my coworkers. read more

Very good and attentive service! My order was ready quickly. I had the three-piece cod fish and chips and iced tea. The entree included cole slaw, fries, and two pieces of garlic toast. The fish had a nice crisp outside but was doughy inside. The fish itself was good. The fries were perfect, some of the best I've had. They were crispy outside and flavorful. Cole slaw was good. The Prices are SO high. The food not so good. We ordered a BLT with a salad which was $17.00 and a bowl of Chili which was $9.00. I asked for sour cream for my chili which should have come with it, they gave me about 2 tablespoons and changed me $1.50 for the sour cream. I couldn't believe it. Clear highway robbery. We will never go back or refer anyone to this restaurant. In fact we will tell people not to go eat there so they don't get robbed too. Staff was very friendly and attentive. You get to sit wherever you want which was nice. They have shades you can pull down if the sun gets too hot. It was easy to get our order taken quickly but getting our food felt like a long time. Part of it was that I was really hungry when we arrived and it was s but longer than I prefer. My omelet was done as I requested with very little cheese and there was quite a large amount of veggies inside it. The hash browns were as good as anywhere else. My wife got the grilled chicken burger with avocado but she said the chicken breast was quite bland. Her salad was nice looking and tasty but the chicken burger needs more seasoning. Overall, it was a good experience and we would go back but only using the Entertainment Book coupon. read more

Covid has reduced staffing everywhere, but some places rise to the occasion. Great food with interesting options and a waitress who is the everready bunny. Arrived after the morning rush. One waitress on duty put us at an interior table with coffee and menus while she tackled the morning cleanup and sterilization. Then moved us to a great table. Inside this former fast-food chain restaurant there is a very good cook. The BLT soup was a surprise and very good with bacon, croutons and fresh lettuce on top of a spicy tomato soup. The philly chicken was tasty, even the cheese had a good strong flavor, unlike the cheese you get at most cafes and dinners.The steak potatoes (small crispy fries are an option) were cooked just right: soft but crisp on the outside and not too salty. It was one of the worst meals we have had dining out! I ordered the special, a prime rib dip for $13.99. The prime rib was almost all fat and my French fries were under cooked. My boyfriend ordered the country fried steak with sausage gravy and ....it was disgusting! The gravy was obviously from a can and had a strange after taste, he took a few bites and left 3/4 of it uneaten. I can say the French fries were the only decent item from his meal. My review pretty much mirrors the reviews of others. Decent menu, clean restaurant, average decor. Our server was kind, but subdued, obviously she hadn't been in the trade very long. Slow to check back on us. The food? Well, it was just, 'meh'. I'd hoped for better when I saw home-made sausage gravy listed on the menu. Not so. Canned or gravy "mix". Frozen CFS. Frozen hasbrowns. Generic toast, not buttered to the edges. Boxed or packaged biscuits. Not worth the price, but perfectly adequate if you just need to fill your belly and don't care how much you need to spend. If they would upgrade their food from frozen to fresh, and get their servers on the ball, they could knock it out of the park. Fresh isn't that much tougher to make, and it's less expensive. Just keep an eye on inventory and make sure it's rotated. The driveway from Riverside is difficult to get in, so make sure you go around to the side, unless you have a small car. read more

Located on Riverside Drive in a former chain fast food location, this restaurant it's open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The dinner menu includes a number of "Breakfast All Day" items, sandwiches, burgers, steak, prime rib, pastas, entree salads, and (mostly fried) fish. We shared an order of fish and chips and an order of fried clams. Both dishes included large portions and plenty of fries, as well as, a small bowl of cole slaw. The service was friendly and efficient and we found both meals quite tasty. Not much atmosphere, but good food will bring us back. read more
