We have been to Bill's a bunch of times over the years and had not been disappointed until today. We were probably the first customers of the day and were immediately read an extensive list of what they didn't have. Not a good start. Since we were the only table, you can't blame a slammed kitchen for the fact that all four appetizers that we ordered were lukewarm at best. Tasted okay for the most part, but mussels were pretty sandy and the steak bites were overdone. Just not what we expect at Bill's. Service was great and the grilled cheese for the kid was decent, but with the variety of places in the immediate area, you have to be on point. Hope that this isn't a trend. We will certainly come back at some point, but with a different outlook. read more

My girlfriend and I had a great evening and a very good dinner. We work in the area and were staying overnight for a work function. Instead of visiting a chain I wanted old school. Bills was the perfect choice. I haven't been there in 20 yrs. it's a locals choice and has the charm of a 100 year old tavern. We sat at the bar because we didnt have a lot of time. The bartender was attentive and sweet. We ordered the nachos and the Bills Chicken. It was amazing !!! Great choice of micro beers too. Can't wait to go back !! read more

Great old fashion, old-time pub. Good food good service varied menu. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and the quality of the food.

Great food and excellent prices. We haven't been here in years and decided to give it a try as we saw they did a lot of renovations and we are so glad we did. The menu was not your typical menu for a pub as it had a mix of traditional pub food as well as upscale and trendy food choices. We sat at the bar and ordered the mixed greens Caesar salad with house made dressing and it was excellent. Lettuce was fresh cut not from a bag and dressing was a real Caesar. I also ordered French onion soup which was equally delicious. Next up was the beer mussels which was a generous portion of huge mussels in an awesome beer broth. However, the best thing I ordered was the salmon "burger". This wasn't a burger but a really nice piece of fresh salmon, seasoned and flame grilled to perfection. Now to the drinks.... I ordered 2 vodka martinis up with olives. The bartender told me Stoli was on special so that's what I got. When the bill came I couldn't believe the price. $4 each!! Yes only $4 for a Stoli martini which could easily range from $10-15. So overall Bill's just can't be beat and we can't wait to return again next week with the whole family for dinner....hey we may even become regulars. read more

Good quality food...worth the few extra dollars over other places. Philly Cheese Steak was large and wasn't made with the cheap meat...probably was ribeye. Corned Beef was fresh 1/4 inch slabs in good quantity vs deli shaved. Burger was 10 oz and very good also. French fries were left light and crisp...perfect. Well we are hungry again and found this place. We were welcomed by a gentleman opening the door with a smile,and the the smell of brisket, OMG. It smells so good, they smoke their wings, kielbasa, ham and brisket in house. Zak the bartender made a great Irish coffee with a welcoming beautiful smile. The brisket is so tender and melts in your mouth. And to top it all off Brownie with ice cream. Ohhhhh yummy. This is a must stop. When back in town, we shall visit again. First time back in Bill's Olde Tavern in more than a decade, but the historic place still feels like the bowels of a 18th Century sailing ship - low ceilings, dark wood exposed beams, a slight aroma of aging beer in those corners the wet mop can't reach, and a whole lot of atmosphere to make you forget the date. I sat at the downstairs bar. The HDTVs were into March Madness. I ordered a burger, fries and a hard Irish Cider from a friendly and accommodating lass. It was a very good lunch, with the burger the medium requested, an ample load of potatoes, and a large cool glass of apple cider. At $8, the food was a good deal. The $5 for the cider put me over my lunch budget for the week, but what the hey?, it was a tasty washdown. The burger was good, but a bit crumbly. Not sure what causes that (freezing or too much compression), but it did not impact the taste once the bar spices and sides where put on top. I left the roll top alone to save a few cals, but otherwise found the experience enjoyable. I will be back to sample more of the lunch menu, and may even find time to stop in après travail to check out the Happy Hour and see if the old sailors show up. read more

A friend and I tried this place out for the first time yesterday and we will definitely be returning. The menu has a lot of great options, many of which are unique. Rebecca was our server and she was great. She was easy to talk to, funny, and did a great job taking care of us. They start you off with some warm pretzels, which were good. We decided to give the Pig Candy a try as an appetizer. It was two nice, thick pieces of bacon glazed with brown sugar. Absolutely delicious! I decided on the Buffalo Chicken Mac 'n' Cheese and my friend ordered the Buffalo Chicken sandwich, which was served with fries. Both of our meals were perfect. The chicken was tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The Mac is made with 5 different cheeses and was absolutely incredible! After our meal, we decided to grab some dessert. I kept it simple with the Lava Cake and my buddy got the Iron Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookie a la Mode. His special request for chocolate ice cream, instead of vanilla, was taken care of without a problem. I would definitely recommend getting one of their desserts. We were extremely satisfied with our choices. The pricing seemed pretty fair on all the menu items and they do have Happy Hour and specials, which is a plus. I've been here so many times and written happy reviews, but I was disappointed tonight. The food took a REALLY long time and 2/3 of the items were soup. We could tell the burger was dried out - maybe it had been sitting?? a different waiter brought us our food - we were so thankful he noticed us because we were starving!! read more

Another fine meal. Hubby had the ribeye special. He's in love. Wants me to figure out how to do an expresso cumin rub. It was accompanied by grilled asparagus and cheddar mashed potatoes. Yum! I had the shrimp and crab royale. Very good. Pasta was al dente. A true pet peeve of mine is mushy pasta. Yuck. This was perfect. Right amount of sauce. Shrimp and crab were fresh. We stopped in for a late lunch a few weeks ago. The restaurant itself is warm and cozy. There are two adjoining rooms, each with a fireplace, and then a bar area off to the side. The decor reminds me of what you might find in colonial Williamsburg. Historic, but not old or run down. I had burger and my husband had a chicken sandwich. Everything was really good, and the service was very quick, efficient, and friendly. I especially enjoyed the burger and I'll probably order it again the next time I go. read more

I don't like this place. The atmosphere is not too inviting and the staff is not too friendly either. The patrons are very rude as well from what I've encountered. Seemed to be a place that caters to its frequent customers and overall you tend to feel like a nuisance. The food is decent but the atmosphere cancels all of that out. read more

Bill's is amazing. I love coming here for Happy Hour which is also on weekends too. I have never had a bad experience as the food is always terrific. I do miss how they used to smoke all their meats inn house. I was told the gentleman who was there 20 years in no longer. My favorite upstairs bartender is Zach he is so kind and pleasant to chat with. I just started going to the downstairs bar also which I have grown to love. I dined tonight with family and our waitress Melissa could not have been more wonderful. She was happy, energetic, and very helpful. Melissa answered all questions and checked in on us frequently - as she did with her many, many, other customers. It was a very busy night and dispite having to handle so much she never lost her smile and grace, not even when a nearby table was over heard giving her an extremely difficult time and even voiced they were going to give her a negative review with a photo they had taken of her. They showed an unreasonable and disrespectful attitude toward the owner as well - demanding things with expectation of dining for free. Melissa impressively maintained a professional manner despite the behavior of patrons clearly looking to take advantage. My family had many requests for our night and Melissa didn't miss a beat - I wish every server had her nice disposition and attentiveness. I look forward to returning and without a doubt will ask for Melissa - you should too! read more

I came home to go out to eat and get a drink with my friends yesterday. My one friend went outside to smoke a cigarette and our table was right next to the door. He forgot to wear his mask and then came back in and sat at our table. With no warning this big dude named matt who I think is the bouncer there or something comes up to our table and tells us to cash out and leave. He was incredibly rude and this is horrible customer service. never coming back unless this dude matt is fired. I know multiple people who have Similar stories about this guy and this Is terrible for business. He also threatened us and made comments suggested he was going to get physical. No one at our table was drunk, overall terrible experience and Matt deserves to be fired. read more

Rude, arrogant and nasty to their patrons... we were there yesterday to meet up for a viewing, we spent money, ate and drank... we were leaving at 4pm to head to our destination, mind you they were notified the night before that we would be meeting there, and they were just fine with that...and some little twerp (manager I suppose) came out screaming and yelling at us to get the fuck off his property or he was calling the police... just for us being in his parking lot.. you couldn't pay me to step foot in that shit hole ever again... there is a way to talk to people who are spending their money at your establishment.... screaming profanities and spewing Ignorance isn't the way to go about it. If I could give them a 0 I would. The food is good but the service is ridiculous at night when there is no supervisor or management. The staff is too busy vaping or on their phones paling with each other and they are rude if you interior their fun time to ask for anything. Not able to successfully accommodate large groups (18 people) which then resulted in half of party getting food wrapped up to take home while the other half had not yet received their dinner. I've been to Bill's Olde Tavern a number of times and the food/ambiance was great. This time, however, it was not the case. We went there specifically for the Shepherds Pie and found out it is no longer on the menu. Our alternative menu item also was not available. Ordered the brisket, it looked and tasted like it came out of the freezer and into the microwave. Sent it back (and I never send things back) and just ordered a burger with onion rings which was good. Our server was very nice and accommodating. The restaurant was empty for a Thursday night but the bar was packed. Maybe they should expand the bar into the restaurant area to increase sales. read more

Not good. Very cold, seats are like bleachers. Service was great but the food was terrible. Tasted like old heated up leftovers.

Don't understand the ringing endorsements for this place. The hostess was friendly, the waitress was impersonal but efficient. The food reminded me of what you get at some catered events, a meh entree with some soggy frozen vegetables. The mashed potatoes were definitely not freshly made either. The crab cakes tasted nothing of crab--more like a vegetable patty with burnt patches, and it didn't come with the tarragon mustard sauce. It was pretty tasteless and DRY. The waitress didn't stop by to see how things were. So I ended up using the honey mustard dressing that was for a salad, and squeezed as much juice out of the two little lemon slices that were a garnish. The shepherds pie wasn't great either. The pretzels were the only good thing. The prices are good, but I would rather pay more for better quality food. Needless to say, won't be giving this place a second chance. read more

Esther and I had eaten here in the past and were underwhelmed by it but the ownership had changed and we had a coupon so we thought we would give it another try. It has not improved. The service was very good but the food was mediocre at best. Esther had a roasted chicken dish that included corn on the cob and mashed potatoes. You know that something is wrong when the restaurant corn on the cob is the best part of the dish. Her salad was extremely small and uninteresting at best. I opted for a modified Ceaser Sald- just romaine lettuce with Russian dressing on the side. Unfortunately while my salad was much larger than Esthers's (and I was charged for the dinner salad not the Ceasr Salad on the menu) the majority of the romaine lettuce was so wilted I could not eat it. I also had a Crab Cake sandwich on a roll with french fries. It turned out I didn't need a roll to get bread with the Crab Cake. It was bread held together with a bit of crab meat.. The fries were not bad- but very heavily oversalted. Esther's meal included dessert and she opted for the Peach Crisp Ala Mode - which unfortunately wasn't very crisp and seemed to be a bit light in the peach department. The good: $2 Yeunglings, tons of TVs for your sports-viewing pleasure, the hilarity of the other patrons, usually plenty of parking, great place to spend St. Pattys Day. So, I've lived in this area all my life and was always under the impression that this place was an old man bar up until about a year ago when I started coming here for dinner. Basically, come here for dinner. This place is cozy and my family and I have always received great service when coming here. Bill's serves a great array of Irish and American fare. I highly recommend both the shepherd's pie and bangers and mash, both of which are done excellently. Surprisingly, the crab cakes are also quite good. The owner does not care about what goes on here. Banned Latin music on the touchtunes jukebox for no reason that could be taken as racist. Is a pay to play system if you want to force what's on the jukebox then don't do touchtunes cause we are not putting money to satisfy other people"s taste. I've been to Bill's twice now and it was pretty good both times. The first time I got the roasted chicken. It wasn't the best meal of my life, but I think that's mainly because I don't really enjoy eating chicken off the bone (why I ordered it is beyond me). It was also a little on the dry side, but not bad at all. Last night, we went again and I got the chicken pot pie (which, let's face it...was chicken and vegetable soup in a bread bowl with mashed potatoes on top). Despite the fact that it wasn't a true "pie," it was still delicious and I loved it -- and the menu did describe it as it was, so it wasn't a surprise when it came in a bread bowl. Both times I've been, the other people I was there with were very pleased with their meals; the portions were big; and the prices were reasonable. It's also not overly loud because there are several dining areas with about 5 tables per room that are separated from the bar area. Areas for improvement: Both times I was there, we got tentative new waiters who appeared to be teenagers. I'm all for giving the youngins jobs, but you could theoretically go here for a nice dinner and I think it would behoove Bill's to hire more experienced staff. They seem a little unsure of whether they want to be a nice restaurant or a casual bar. Maybe they'd be better off having separate areas and wait staff for both. Also, my friend had to send her undercooked pork back and got the wrong potato with her meal. It was fixed and she enjoyed it after that, but it's never a good feeling to have to send your food back, then wait for it while everyone else is eating. read more
