He came over to my home, we discussed these changes and he said it would be minimal cost to change (new pipe jacks, new vents, upgraded underlayment and Malarky shingles). I said "Great", give me the new price with these new changes. I was expecting maybe $500 to at best $1000 more BUT he emails me the next day and says in the email, "Sorry, I MISQUOTED on the first estimate. It'll be $4,800 more). OUTRAGEOUS!! MISQUOTE??? These are the kind of companies I as a landlord watch out for because they are deceptive and half way into the job they will ask for more money or in this case, he decided to outrageously change the price after he supposedly MISQUOTED his original estimate not even going back on the roof or tell me how he justifies this new ($11, 984 to the new $16,750) price change. My advice to him is "do the estimate right in the first place BEFORE you handle it over to the customer. Also, don't tell me it won't change the price all that much (I was willing to pay an extra $1000) but don't come back and ridiculously give me a new estimate 40% higher than the first one. I definitely will be going with another company even if they are higher than his first quote OR match his second quote!!

A couple of my neighbors used JWF, and I also saw many positive recommendations for them on Nextdoor. After a tile blew off during a recent storm, I took that as my sign to stop procrastinating and get it done. I contacted JWF on a Friday evening, and they were out Saturday morning for an inspection. They started the job on Wednesday and were finished by Thursday afternoon. Pricing was competitive, the crew was hardworking and efficient, and everything was cleaned up when the work was done. I still can't believe how easy they made the entire process. I expected it to be a lot more stressful, like most major house projects. Communication was great from start to finish, and they kept me updated with photos. The owner also came on-site both days to check on everything and talk through any questions I had. I especially appreciated the attention to detail. None of the other companies I met with seemed to care as much, with some saying they would just put any mismatched tiles in the back. JWF doesn't do that. They even replaced mismatched tiles that were already in the back from a previous repair, and any paint they used was matched to the house. When John Bell Jr showed up he suggested that it was an easy fix. Told me he would get his ladder go up on the roof and then come back and let us know what was going on. A few minutes later John came back with the good news. He replaced the cap that was missing. Inspected the roof. No repairs necessary and no charge for the service. Skyler came by and looked at my job and gave me a straight forward honest assessment of what condition my roof was in. I originally wanted only the AC roof replaced and while looking at that, he noticed several parts of the roof were almost at the end of life. Although there was probably a year or more still left on the life, I decided to go ahead and get the re-roof done. He was very polite, honest and stated that he could do whatever needed to be done when they get into the job. He quoted me a price that was 2 thousand dollars more than my best estimates, but he stated that he would do whatever needed to be done when started. There turned out to be more rotten wood due to an ac leak a few years ago so there was more plywood needing replacement. He went and got all the extra wood and replaced it without any hassles. The previous roofers would not commit to that and I was told that any additional supplies would be more money. Skyler stayed in touch with me all through the process and communicated whatever issues were found, and once again was all inclusive i the estimate. they also replaced an additional 20 feet of facia boards that were not rotten, but warped, added additional roof tiles that were damaged, and blended the non matching tiles to my roof and left me additional for future in case they are needed. One more thing I especially liked was that the crew were very fast and knowledgeable on the roofing system I have. my wife was upset though that they made a very big mess all around the house with debris and dust and the kitchen was very dirty from the skylight being removed above the kitchen while blowing dust from roof. I would have expected this, but my wife is a clean freak so I don't think was an issue. After the job was done, the area was cleaned, hosed, and all debris was removed and the roof looks great. I would highly recommend them for more work and although they are new and not have many reviews here, I would not be discouraged by that as i said, they did a great job with everything. I waited to post this review until after the rain to see how it would perform. After all the wind and rain, there was not a single issue. All water drained, and the roof performed perfectly.
