Not sure why, but Yelp offered me another chance to review this business - so I'm taking it. I'm going to copy/paste the last review I gave because it's still true and it appears (based on newer reviews) that Alex continues to do sub-standard work. He has also created other Yelp profiles in an attempt to evade the consequences of the negative reviews that keep piling up. As you'll see below, there is lots of effort put into avoiding consequences rather than actually dealing with the problems that Alex's sub-standard work creates. Here's my last review with some edits for clarity: Caveat emptor. Alex was hired to fix a flat roof that didn't drain. He quoted, was the lowest price (red flag missed), and we paid a deposit and agreed to a start date. That date came & went and we had to call and text before we got a reply with an excuse (2nd red flag missed). This was the first of many, many text/call attempts. Most were not returned. Those that were returned had lots of excuses (got a new phone, sickness, etc.). In the end, there was much more effort put into offering excuses than doing work or solving problems. Eventually, Alex's crew came out to do the work. They said they were finished about a week later than they promised when they showed up (more excuses and reasons instead of performance). Alex requested payment of the balance that day. I took a hose up on the roof to test their work and it still didn't drain. I sent Alex a video and he said he would come out to fix it. The next time it rained, the roof leaked. It had not leaked before - only didn't drain. So Alex's company left the roof worse than it was when they started. The next few months were full of many promises to fix the roof, but nothing changed. Alex eventually said it needed a drain installed and we agreed, hoping that was the answer. Now there's an ugly PVC pipe sticking out of the front of the house and the roof still leaks. Alex has stopped responding at all. The leak has caused $1,000s of damage to insulation, drywall, and left 1/2 the garage unusable. I hope this is a caution - it's a roll of the dice if you hire Spartan roofing. read more

From my experience with dealing with this roofing company and of dealing with Alex Simpson directly, he should be put in jail and his company shut down. He is not thrust worthy, lies, uses sub standard materials and uses unknowable roofing workers. In addition his guarantee is No guarantee. If you want to take a total loss on having to redo your roof or have continual problems with your roof use him otherwise find a reputable roofing company. I had my whole roof redone by him in 2023. I immediately had follow up issues that he would not repair - nor would call me back. I finally gave up and had items repaired by another company. Now two years later, I have a major problem and I can not get hold of him again and have had three different roofing companies now tell me that my problem is due to substandard materials being used and poor workmanship. I now find out his license has been revoked and many tradesmen in the industry know of his bad practices! read more

Terrible experience. A tile fell off my roof they replaced two years ago. Alex kept me on the hook for 3 months until I finally gave up. Won't take any accountability, makes excuses. Be prepared to have to ask a million times before getting a response. Alex also made many promises to come out and never showed. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this company. His license is currently suspended with 2 open cases with the ROC. read more

Started out good but the new roof didn't fix a leak in the patio area. He sent his team several times out to fix it and it is better but still leaks. It's been 3 years and now Alex doesn't return our phone calls, or responds to texts or emails. When I went to the ROC, his license has been suspended. Very frustrating to spend this kind of money with a 10 year warranty and hasn't been right from the get go. Had an inspector come out this last week and said overall he did a good job but can see where the problem is with the leak and also said that they didn't cover the wood beams on the ridges and they will rot if they are not covered. Filed a complaint today with the ROC to try and get the problems resolved. It's too bad because Alex seems like a nice man and his crew was nice but may not have enough experience. read more

Never bothered to show for the inspection. No call, nothing. If that's the level of commitment ment forget it.

They responded to my Yelp request, and setup an appointment through that message. The technician came in, provided a very nominal estimate. Theirs was the best estimate I got between 3 providers. They scheduled the work to re-coat the flat roof. Arrived as planned, providing me updates throughout, completed the job as promised. It held after the small storm that hit us a couple of weeks ago. Would recommend these guys to anyone. Overall great experience. read more

Spartan was hired to repair my back patio roof earlier this year. After their repair, the leak still remained. They did come back to try and resolve but was not successful and instead of doing what they were hired to do, to inspect and resolve they put me off. Their work is under a 3 year warranty so they say but the leak still remain months later and I'm pacified with short responses of I'll get back with you, if at all. How many times do I need to initiate contact to get a response. I'd rather and should've hired honored men from Mexico in need of work that would've been less expensive and done properly by good men. I will be connecting with BBB and neighborhood social media to put the word out as well. I think we are all tired of being price gouged and left with no resolution, nor regulation by our fellow countrymen on top of our government. Shame on you. read more

Do not hire Spartan Roofing!! When we contracted with Spartan to inspect our roof and do any needed repairs we had no leaks. After they did their work we have leaks!!! Whenever it rained we had water running out from under the tiles all over our roof. Their contract included a 10 year guarantee and when I contacted them to repair the leaks they said they would. But after not showing up for 5 different scheduled appointments over a period of 4 months and not even calling, it was obvious that Spartan had no intention of honoring their guarantee so we had to hire another roofer to fix the leaks that Spartan caused. Alex and Spartan Roofing was the reason I didn't lose out on purchasing a home during this crazy market. During the inspection period, our inspector showed us the roof had issues. I called Spartan Roofing to provide a roof inspection. He did so and recommended we completely redo the underlayment, add additional tiles (as the builder tried to stretch the coverage) and redo all the flashing. I had 5 other roofers out for other estimates. Alex was by far the best price and was very responsive to questions and making sure this was going to get done. The plan was for the roof to be completed after the closing of the house. Well, last minute (2 days before close) the lender required the roof to be done before. This forced our closing date back by 4 business days. Well, Spartan Roofing was able to start immediately and completed the roof in those 4 days. The guys did an incredible job! The roof looks amazing and if he wouldn't have been able to make the roof job happen before closing the sellers were going to 'cure' the deal and I would have lost the house. Alex is a stand-up guy and will do right by you. He doesn't beat around the bush and will tell you how it is. After getting a second leak after my HOA jokingly repaired my roof in 6 months, I knew it was time to get it done right. Alex came out on Monday and gave me a quote to clean, repair and apply the top coating to the roof of my townhome. His estimate was spot on what I was expecting after receiving quotes from two other companies and I appreciated his friendly attitude and promptness. I was put on the schedule for Saturday that week and then notified they could do my job on Friday - awesome! His crew showed up and promptly went to work, putting mesh around my air conditioner to prevent the pigeons from nesting and reattached the plumbing for my a/c unit as well. We had a HUGE problem with our Patio deck above our garage. 1st it was so difficult to get anyone take on this type of project. But fortunately using Yelp which I have had very good experience with, I had 3 people give me Quotes. I felt the most comfortable with Spartan Roofing and Alex who gave me the quote. Not to mention they were the cheapest by far. Even though it was the cheapest I decided to use them because Alex seemed to be the best fit for us. Well, my gut was correct. They were FANTASTIC!!!!!
