Before he arrived I never heard water dripping and then suddenly when he was finished with the maintenance I had this dripping noise from my furnace and he left with the air conditioning running and when I came home from work I had water all over my floor where the furnace was and turned off the air conditioning. He sent me a invoice for a $700 repair but never told me what was actually needed and he didn't turn off the air conditioning when he left knowing the dripping water would cause damage to my furnace.

I moved into a 1960s-70s home and soon had a basement main drain clog. I chose Allen's Plumbing based on their high ratings. They arrived on time but immediately began criticizing my real estate agent and home inspector, boasting about decades of experience. He spent less than 30 minutes with a snake, claimed it could not go past 50 ft, and pulled out only a small amount of debris and fine roots--about the size of a fist--yet dramatically acted as if my sewer was severely damaged. On-site, he pressured me to call my agent, rudely criticized them over the phone, and claimed I had only two options: dig up the basement or the yard, costing about $5,000. He insisted the pipe was broken and needed replacing, and charged $265 for the day's "work." He then called in another company with a camera (Kowski's Sewer Service), quoting another $250. This second company was equally unprofessional, failed to locate the blockage, and suggested I check with insurance about replacement. They also damaged my drain plug and left a filthy mess. The next day, through my teacher's contact, I hired another plumber--professional, clean, and determined. He used a snake to go 100 ft, removed a long arm's-length mass of debris, and found the real culprit: a clump of wet wipes. Problem solved without any pipe replacement. Clearly, my pipe was not broken. Allen's Plumbing exploits customers' lack of technical knowledge to push unnecessary major repairs. This is unprofessional and shameful. Businesses like this will not last long. I will continue to post reviews and file complaints on other platforms to warn others and prevent more people from being deceived and losing their money.

I had Bill clean my furnace once a few years ago and that was fine, But this visit, Bill was beyond unprofessional when he visited my home. Apparently, the ignitor was installed wrong on my furnace. He said, "so do you want to know what's wrong, no you don't care!" Odd, but ok.. He tells me ignitor was put on below the gas instead of above, closed my furnace back up and says "If you don't care about your furnace, either do I. Call the Toys R Us company that you called before". I was shocked and asked "can't you fix whatever is wrong, why are you stopping" and he just kept repeating the same thing over and over. I asked him why he was saying these things and being so rude, then he says, don't worry, I'm not going to charge you. (Like I would pay him for absolutely nothing anyway). When I called the number back later because it was really bothering me, a woman, his wife I was told, tells me I had the wrong bracket on, which isn't even what Bill told me. I TRIED to explain that all parts were saved from repairs and I would have the old bracket so why couldn't he have fixed it (I took the hours off work) she wouldn't let me finish speaking and cut me off every time I tried to speak. When I got the words out, But I have the bracket, she said "you don't understand" and hung up on me. So I took 5 mins and moved the ignitor ABOVE the gas, and just as I thought, that's not the problem. I called John from Mid Michigan Heating who is here figuring out the problem now. He is VERY friendly and professional. I called the person who referred Bill and she said her husband deals with him as he always dismisses her. Not sure why she recommended him to me as I am a woman, but he won't get a single referral from me. Rude is honestly being polite!! read more

My furnace wasn't working very well so I called Bill on a Sunday and he was here within about 30 minutes. He forewarned me that if he comes out today and he does not have the available part he would have to come back another day when his parts supplier is open and I would be charged for another visit. I decided to roll the dice and hoped he had everything he needed to fix it. Turns out he did. He was quickly able to diagnose the problem and fix it in about 20 minutes. Although he already informed that the service call was an automatic $60 he decided to only charge me $40 since it was a quick fix. I told him to keep it. His reward or coming out so quick on a Sunday and being able to fix it so fast. He took the time to explain the problem and what could also go wrong in the future. I will definitely call Bill again if I need to. read more

He's awesome! He's been to my house 3-4 times over the years. Half the time he doesn't charge because it's something stupid. His normal rates seem to be $50 for easy stuff, $100 for hard stuff but don't quote me on that. He has like 15-20 years of experience.. He'll show you how to do easy maintenance on your equipment so you don't need to call him as much. He's a one man show and not all fancy, but if you just want your stuff fixed by someone that isn't a rip-off he's the man! He does have a ton of tools and parts. His specialty seems to be "After Hours". He'll come out at 8:00PM with no extra fees. So far all of his calls to my house have been 1 stop fixes. Thermostats, fans and igniters is all. All were "Easy" fixes. read more

If you want your furnace or air conditioner fixed, this is the guy. I am so grateful that there are repair places like this mom and pop shop still around. Bill came the same day and did not need to second guess anything. He found a complex problem immediately and had some of the parts. He went to home depot for an additional one. He willingly allowed me to watch and shared his knowledge. The more he said I knew about my furnace, the better off I would be. Hands down, best repair man I've ever had. He took on a messy job and his fees were very reasonable. Last night when I got home from work my furnace wasn't working and over the next couple days the wind chill factor was to be below zero. Not knowing who to call, I selected Bill's After Hours after reviewing all of the choices and the reviews left by customers. All of the reviews are true. He arrived within 45 minutes and fixed it with 15 minutes. He explained what the problem was, as well as showing me when to change the filter, etc. He only charged $60 which was a bargain compared to spending the next couple of days without heat. I highly recommend anyone to call Bill for any furnace issues. I will definitely call him if I have future problems. read more

Bill came out 45 mins after I called him to ask him to look at our furnace. He figured out the problem within 5 - 10 mins and explained it to me. He fixed to issue quickly, then checked our filters and showed those to me and told me how often they should be replaced. His prices are unbeatable and he is efficient. read more
