I liked Bill immediately. On the phone he talked me through what I was seeing with our AC & told me what he could and could not help with. That upfront honesty was so appreciated. He came straight away, fixed the problem, and did it for the price of another company's diagnostic. He's a laidback guy and had me stay the whole time to see what he was doing and how to do better upkeep. Kinda felt like working with my grandpa when he was around. Recommend! read more

Showed up on time, said it would be installed in 4 hours and it was . Very professional job

Bill helped us install a nest thermostat. After reading up on how to do a self install, I realized that this was just outside my ability and gave several vendors a call. Bill was great because he was able to ask a few questions and based off that, gave the most reasonable price. The other vendors had a one price fits all so going with Bill was the obvious choice. When he got to the property, he got everything diagnosed, wired up, and tested within 45 minutes. I can't recommend him enough. read more

I've never written a Yelp review and maybe not even an Amazon one, but I had such a hard time finding someone who would help with our steam boiler that wouldn't ignite, as our usual maintenance person wasn't able to come out and few in the area will touch steam. Bill was honest about it not being his main area of expertise but said he had experience with steam boilers and would at least take a look for a very fair fee. If he did work, he also offered a very competitive quote. He came over within an hour, had several ideas, and most importantly, got the boiler working! And he only charged the small amount. Respectful, honest, and great at his work. A rare find! Thank you, Bill! read more

Bill came out to check my air conditioner that was pretty old he typically has a $50 charge to show up and he wave that fee after he found the motor was bad and I needed a new unit. He was very thoughtful and detailed in his inspection. read more

4.5 out of 5! Bill's After Hours Heating & Cooling is a great choice for heading & cooling repairs, even if they aren't "after hours!" The HVAC unit in my new Condominium worked great for air conditioning this summer, but when I turned it on to get some heat to help dry a painting project, nothing happened. I found Bill's via Yelp and gave him a call. In less than 2 hours, Bill (the owner) showed up, diagnosed the problem and apologized for not being able to repair the problem immediately, as he didn't have the part. No charge for the visit or estimate! Without missing a beat, he contacted Lennox, got the part ordered and the next day, showed up and installed it. My total bill, less than most people pay for a repair call without resolution! On the way out the door after he had completed the repair, Bill noticed my doorknob was loose. Next thing I know, he's got it off, fixed and put back on. No CHARGE! Amazing Bill! You put the CUSTOMER in Customer Service! The ONLY reason I'm giving Bill's 4.5, rather than a full 5 stars is they don't have a website or use email. I HIGHLY recommend Bill for any Furnace or Air Conditioning repair! read more

After waiting a day for service, the Bill's guy showed up and noted there was no light on to give an instant diagnosis to the problem, so he didn't do anything to try to diagnose the problem, just said he couldn't do it and left us hanging while he went on to get quicker money elsewhere. I called another of the repair places in the area, and when I explained what happened with our first repair person, he asked, "Can I ask you a question: was it Bill's?" With all the area repair people out there it could have been, he knew right away! He said he's heard similar things from others who have tried Bill's. I have no idea how this business has such great reviews when so clearly they have such a poor reputation among the others in the same business. The only reason I didn't give him 1 star: at least he didn't try to charge us for his lack of effort or service. read more

Bill came out right after we called to take a look at our air conditioner. The AC unit was beyond repair (unless we wanted to sink a bunch of money into a 30 year old unit) and he was honest and fair about our options. read more

Bill was great! Came out and fixed my central AC in about an hour and even left to go and get the part needed at the store. After the job was completed, he gave me a crash course in central air and how to maximize it for my home. He was friendly and polite. Bill really knows his stuff and was very affordable compared to big name companies in the area. I would definitely use him again for furnace repair. read more

I called Bill on a Sunday as our heat was not working. I needed to leave a message, within 5 minutes called me back. I described my problem and Bill said he could be at the house within 2 hours to at least look at our furnace but no guarantee he could fix it depending on the part needed. Bill was prompt on time and also gave me a education on how my furnace works. It was a faulty ignition, Bill had the part on his truck and had our heat working within a hour. Awesome job Bill. read more

We called Bill around 6:30 on a very cold and snowy evening because our furnance had quit running. He arrived within two hours after we called. He got our furnace running, we paid him $50 and just as he was about to leave the furnace shut off. Now someone else in his shoes may have just left money in hand. Bill went back downstairs to investigate and spent another 90 minutes working. He finally told us it was a part that he did not carry and that he unfortunately could not fix it. He appeared genuinely disappointed that he could not assist us and gave us the $50 back! It turned out our furnace WAS fixed by what Bill did so we sent him the $50. We were absolutely impressed by his integrity, pride in work quality, and knowledge and would highly recommend him to others. read more

Bill came out the same day, found the problem, got the part the next morning, and had our air conditioner running that afternoon. He explained the repair and gave us suggestions for keeping the air conditioner clean. Great service, quick response, very reasonable prices. We will definitely call him for future repairs. read more

Like many others here, Bill gets called when the heat goes off in the middle of a cold night and you need someone here STAT. That happened to me, waking up to a cold house. I couldn't pay big bucks for after-hours repairs but read the reviews for Bill on-line and called. We set a time for him to come over and he was even early. Bad igniter, and our furnace was so old the replacement part needed an adaptor to fit the end. Fixed it in under 30 minutes, and the price was entirely reasonable. Very grateful for the lesson he gave on the care and feeding of the furnace--he's a patient man. Hopefully we won't have any further problems anytime soon, but if we do he'll be the first one I call. read more

Exceptional. Don't hesitate, extremely competent and by far the best prices in town. He will then teach you how to maintain your unit.

Bill did a fantastic job diagnosing the problem, which resulted in a very affordable fix. Moreover, Bill explained how I should manage the air unit to avoid future problems. Highly recommend! read more

We called Wilson's business which we had used for over 20 years to come to fix our A/C. A new person came, indicated he now owned 1/2 of Wilson's business, acted strange, and said we needed a new furnace, hot water heater and A/C - $7100.00!! We decided to get a second opinion and called Bill's who came out at 6:pm - took one look at the A/C, knew exactly what was needing attention, replaced the part that catches the electric spark (he said he carries extra of those parts as they go out often), and all was working within 15 minutes!!! He charged $50. for the new part and $50. for coming out -- total of $100.00, which we were glad to pay! It is now two weeks later, outdoor temperatures going toward 90 degrees, and our A/C is working perfectly!!! THREE CHEERS FOR BILL!!! HE'S WORTH 10 STARS!! read more

This is a great alternative to using high priced after hours service from the big local HVAC companies. I had a bad ignitor on my furnace and all I really needed was the part replaced. I called Bill, on a 10 degree night, he came out within 90 min., he had the part on his truck, replaced it, and in 15 min. I had heat again. Bill is a nice guy, even gave me a couple tips on furnace maintenance. If you need after hours service on your furnace, CALL BILL! read more

Bill came to our house to evaluate a problem with our AC and heating. After discovering that the problem was a simple fix (unrelated to mechanical problems) he took the time to thoroughly explain the problem. He went above and beyond to answer all of our questions. He has strong expertise in his profession. He is efficient and honest. I highly recommend his services, without reservation! read more

My wife and I have called on Bill for furnace repairs for the past several years and have only the highest praise for him. He is quick to respond and does good work. He is also a man you can trust to be fair and honest--and generous. Once we called when we thought we had a problem with the furnace when we really did not. Bill explained our mistake to us and left without charging us a penny. read more

Bill's After Hours is wonderful. He was quick to respond and disgnosed the issues quickly as well. He repaired two separate issues with our AC and his labor charge for almost two hours of work was very low. We've definitely found a new repair man for our East Lansing Condo. read more

My sister discovered Bill a few months ago when their furnace went out, and raved about his fast service & (obscenely!) reasonable prices. So when my furnace seemed to die today, I gave him a call. It was during daytime (FYI he's on-call 24/7, not just "after hours) and he was here 45 minutes later. He very quickly diagnosed the problem as a defective thermostat (I've hated that thing since I moved in here 4+ yrs ago), had a replacement in his truck and quickly changed it out. My heat is running better than ever, and I have a fully programmable thermostat that is MUCH more user-friendly than the old cheapo one. Just so you know, he'll give you a master class in your furnace or thermostat usage, which I really appreciated. And the cost - well it was a fraction of what one of the big outfits would have charged, and he got here and fixed it so fast I'll never use one of the "big outfits" again. He also has an A+ rating with the local BBB. Pure gold. read more
