I have a legacy Central air unit that died under the hot weather earlier this month. Initially I called another service and they charged me $500 to look at it, replace a part, and tried to get me on the hook to replace the AC and the furnace for over $12,000. We recently hired All Star Mechanical to replace our ancient AC. For several years we have lived in a house where half the upstairs did not cool like the rest of the home. We set up fans going up the stairs to try to coerce the cool air up there, or relocated to the main level at night time. We also got a quote from another company who I thought was local, but who is actually owned by private equity. They offered a larger AC unit while Larry offered a smaller one. Lo and behold, Larry was right and our upstairs is now fully cooled. Larry's guys were professional and did great work installing it. Our relationship with All Star Mechanical began with Chris coming out to diagnose my AC problem. He tested the system and diagnosed it as low on refrigerant likely due to a leak. We asked to get a quote on replacing the AC and the entire HVAC system. The furnace was a 25 year old Trane. The air filter was 1in thick and struggled to blow through a non-MERV filter, and I wanted cleaner air for the health of my family, especially since wildfires aren't going away anytime soon. We also wanted a whole house humidifier to assist the Vornado units we run 24/7 in the winter. Larry presented us with a variety of options for upgrading my HVAC system, not trying to sell me a system too large and expensive for our needs or climate, then explaining how everything works and how it works together to make our home efficient, safe, clean, and comfortable. The installation team was fantastic. They were scheduled for a 2 day installation and over performed installing the entire system in one day. Matthew and the 2 Nicks were great! Within 2 hours of installing the General Aire MAC high efficiency air cleaner we noticed the air felt and smelled cleaner, in spite of the poor air advisory warning for that day. Finally, Chris buttoned the system up completely by running updated thermostat wiring and relocated my thermostat so the new system is compatible with my ADT Z-Wave ADC -T2000 monitored thermostat (my request)!  Throughout the entire job, Larry stayed in touch, either by email, phone, or text to make sure everything met or exceeded our expectations. My AC went out right in the middle of summer, on a Saturday, and before 4th of July....yeah worst case scenario I thought. I totally thought I was screwed until calling All Star Mechanical. I had my furnace serviced for the winter today. My technician, Chris Diaz, did an excellent job. He was knowledgeable regarding what my furnace needed. He did an excellent job in a timely manner. He wore a mask and booties in my home. When I called for service the owner, Larry called me in a timely manner. I would highly recommend All Star Mechanical. Terrible service, poor quality work, bad price, do not ever do business with these crooks

We're there more stars they'd get them. They kept our old leaky ac going and maintained our furnace until we were ready to follow their advice and replace both. They are honest, patient with old folks and come quickly when needed. They are very reasonable in pricing and no pressure in attitude. If they tell you you need a new system, trust them. By the way, our Consumers Energy bill went down significantly after All Star replaced our furnace and ac! read more

Amazing! I scheduled an appt with a competitor first, but saw numerous complaint reviews saying they tried to up-sell them something instead. So then I found All Star with overwhelmingly 5-star reviews. Then I read their mission statement on their website. This is the kind of business I want to support. The competitor over the phone quoted me $99 for a service call & $200 for a capacitor from what I was describing. All Star quoted me $90. They said if the capacitor had to be replaced, it would have been $90. But it was a washer that connected the wiring on the external unit. He had it fixed in minutes. He also checked my refrigerant & some small maintenance checks while he was here. Since I needed to have the refrigerant topped off, he didn't even charge me for the washer, since the refrigerant was going to be more. I also appreciated that he over-estimated the amount needed. I'd rather be prepared for a higher number to be surprised with a lower one than vice versa. Instead of the "up to 4 lbs" if could have needed, it was only 1.5, so more than less than the cost I was prepared for. Underpromise, overdeliver. I couldn't be happier, these guys are awesome & I never felt pressured or upsold, which was the primary reason I canceled the other appt. I'd rather repair than replace if possible & my service tech was great to explain what else I might be looking at in the future, so I could start preparing. read more

Larry is extremely responsive, efficient, and helpful. His prices are reasonable and he doesn't try to upsell things you don't need. (I hired him because of many positive reviews on Nextdoor, and was definitely not disappointed!) These guys are really a class act. I called with my A/C out and Larry sent someone over same day. I'm sure with how busy they are that's not always possible, but I know they worked late to get me running. The price has always been very reasonable with AllStar and everyone I have had work on my stuff has been very knowledgeable. They sell you what you need and aren't pushy. Larry cares immensely about his staff and customers. He puts things like "black lives matter" on his van and it's only because he cares about people. He cared enough to work late just to get my A/C running. I have worked with Larry for several years and thought it was well past due to give him the review he has earned several times over. Larry isn't shy about his political views, If you can't handle someone honestly telling you how they feel just call someone else. Myself, I like honesty. And even though I don't agree completely with Larry, I do agree with the way he treats people, with his honesty, and I'm not ashamed to do business with a good person that honestly speaks his mind. read more
