I'm a landlord in Lansing. I hired them to replace a water heater and replace some outlets with GFI, as I had failed inspection. Whitney replaced the wrong outlets and forgot to pull permit for the water heater, causing me to fail re-inspection and incur fines. Once it became clear that I was asking them to fix a job they had already received money for, they became difficult to reach, repeatedly dropping my calls and not returning my messages for days. They refused to compensate me for the city's fine, refused to re-do the electrical work without charging again, and charged me again to pull the permit. They're never getting another cent of my business. read more

Absolutely THE WORST HVAC company I have ever had the displeasure of working with. I was ripped off by EX-CEO Matt on two different locations, Mine and my fathers. First I paid for a new Furnace, AC unit, and tankless water heater. After the install I found out instead of installing the SER 16.2 I paid for they installed a 15.4 instead at my house. Both my father and I were told we had sign up for the service contract and that they would service our equipment for free. In the beginning it seemed like a great deal. I also had my water main break and that was all this initial call was for. I was able to fix the main break on my own and did not need the service. It took Whitney so long that they had already installed the AC and furnace but not fixed the water. When I told Matt I didn't need he stated he had all his profit wrapped in that portion and that I would need to pay another 4k... My father had an AC and Furnace. They did not give him the de-humidifier he paid for because the install tech had a dull drill bit and inadequate tools, it took him 4+ hours to drill through the wall. My father offered a better bit and drill, the employee refused. SO he did not get what he paid for either. Fast forward to the after the first winter and my fathers AC is not working. WHiteny comes out and tells him he has a leak, service plan expired (even though they never came out for wither of us) and he would need to pay them. He then called the office and spoke with the office manager who stated he would not have to pay. Later I call I have to my service completed that I paid for at install (more than $4350 after the additional extorted $4000. ) just to find out my service plan expired and I also will need to pay after they completed the service, not before. I call the manager explain the situation let them know I am not going to pay, they say that's totally understandable, the AC unit should not be leaking when barely a year old. THIS WHOLE TIME THEY BILL ME FOR EVERYTHING. My dads service, mine, just everything. I call ask them for the 10th time to straighten out our accounts, explained again the entire situation to Margot. She says she will fix it, and talk with the higher ups and get this resolved. Instead she then Billed my father for services from MY house and his house! This company is hot pile of crap and is the biggest mess I have ever seen. If they continue to harass us over their fraudulent charges and business practices, we will see them in court. You sold me a 16.2 and installed a 15.4 thinking you were slick. You lied about your service plan, and over charges customers because your employees had poor tolls and improper equipment (Install tech tried to drill through a 12" wall with a dull bit and dead right angle battery drill). My father and I expect an apology. Thank you. read more

Zack Purdy arrived early in the arrival window and went about his job of repairing my garbage disposal quickly. I had already removed the items under the sink. Zack removed the unit to shake out the glass (the original issue), and then cleaned the insides so that the disposal worked again. He answered my questions politely, and taught me a few things about his process. The price was sort of higher than I expected, but I'm basing that off of the amount of a service call when I was using a home warranty company. Ultimately, the cost was higher with the home warranty since there was an annual charge, as well. Anyway, nice job Zack. Thanks! read more

I have dealt with this company before for an electric issue and I was provided excellent service from Jason Johnson. But I requested service again for a plumbing issue. The technician Connor did not help me at all. Im not satisfied with the results I received or when I notify the customer service about situation it was not resolved.. It's wasn't the actual company Whitney Services it was the company that was dispatched to do the service. The company name was More Than Plumbing. read more

Furnace was installed December 10, 2024. Hasn't worked right since. Here it is January 4, 2025 and I still don't have heat and my house is currently at 48 degrees. For some reason Whitney Services isn't motivated enough to get a tech out here. Supposedly Tuesday. As a customer, I am extremely disappointed in the company and the "customer service" they provide. Buyer Beware! American Home Shield warranty company sent a service request to Whitney for a broken furnace. Their windows of service are in 6-7 hour increments. After paying someone to house sit for 7 hours, a technician called @ 7:30 p.m. to state he wouldn't be able to make it. Money and time completely down the drain. You'd think we'd be at the top of the list on the next day. NO! The window is 1-7 pm. It's 11:00 am now. I'll be back to update again after the tech has come and completed their work. read more

Port St Lucie, Florida. SAVE YOUR HOUSE! They "installed"a water heater. Year later it blew a hole in my ceiling And flooded my attic. Tried calling them, left a message, didn't hear so I called someone else. Real plumber showed up and stated "did you do this yourself?", no, " well I guess it was a handyman then". Told him no again, he just shook his head. Real plumber used actual copper pipes and did it right. Gave Whitney the opportunity to make it right, they refused, said it was past the warranty for work and I didn't wait for them. read more

My warranty company uses Whitney. I needed the main water shutoff valve replaced. The first tech sent to assess the situation claimed they would have to remove the hot water tank to replace the valve. This seemed reasonable as the valve is just inches above the tank. In addition to a $215 deductible paid to my home warranty company, I had to pay an additional $460 for 'access', that was not covered, and likely for the hot water tank removal and replacement. Well, the plumber who came to do the repair did not have to remove the hot water tank, and now Whitney is refusing to refund the $460. They inflate the estimate, which must be paid prior to scheduling the job. But then don't refund anything when the job turns out to be a much simpler repair. Aside from that, there is now a huge hole in my wall and the shut off valve was replaced with a hose, not a pipe. The valve now sits inside the wall, so some sort of hole will have to remain to allow access to the shutoff. read more

So I did a Yelp job request for a drain cleaning and they sent me a quote for a 95$ flat rate repair. When the tech arrived he did the upsell that the repair would be 235$ for the 1st hour. I said the office gave me a quote for a 95$ flat rate and he said that's just to 'show up'. So nah. I wouldn't do business with this place again, or any place that tries to trap you in such a scam. read more

This place was a HUGE disappointment. When I first called I spoke with Keegan (?) and she was not so pleasant. She NEVER stated a cost for a tech coming out. The reminder email NEVER stated a cost for coming out. The tech came out, witnessed the heat was working properly without having to do anything. All of 10-15min. When he was ready to leave he said the cost was $230. Wait! What? $95 was for the cost to come out. When I disputed this cost and called the company I spoke to Stacia and she said the $95 was for gas and travel and a couple other bogus excuses. She was not willing to help at all after I explained I was never given any information about being charged. To help my case the TECH even admitted that he didn't have to do anything. I told Stacia I wasn't prepared to pay this charge and she still could care less. The technician spoke with the company and they still did not want to budge. SMH! I ended up paying the $95 that I should not have had to pay since it was NEVER mentioned. I don't recommend this place at all. HORRIBLE customer service. The very next day the technician was at Meijer and I know this because he parked right next to me. He and his partner (that stayed in the truck the whole time he was at my house) sat in the truck for over an hour at Meijer. I guess that's the $95 in gas I paid for and didn't get the memo. So glad God is my vindicator! This company is a zero and I truly give them no stars. read more

I was driving home this afternoon when one of their truck ran a stop sign and damn near crashed into me. I could have been killed as they didn't bother to slow down a bit. They were dining 40+ mph. I reported it to the DeWitt Twp police. In case the Whitney folks read this.....it was at roughly 3:55p on 7/12 at the corner of Stoll Road and Turner Road. They were headed north on Turner and I was headed west on Stoll. I turned to follow the truck and THEN they slowed down and followed the speed limit. You know who was driving by the time/date stamp. IS THE WORK GOING TO BE DONE CORRECTLY? I was scheduled to get a furnace install today and no one showed up or called. They gave a window of arrival between 8am-4pm. I called at 11:30am to see what the schedule was like as I thought I could do errands. They told me I was third in line today. I called them again as it was 4pm, and no one was here or called. I was told that someone was supposed to call me. I explained that I've been having a problem with the furnace going out when it is very cold outside and wanted this done quickly and cancelled a doctor's appointment today to accommodate THEM. Obviously, I waited all day to reschedule - but didn't get to do that today because who I spoke to didn't do scheduling. So now I'm hanging out there waiting for someone to reschedule the appointment for me. At this point, you wonder if the job will be done correctly? I have no confidence in this company at this point. If they can't make a call, can they do the work properly? read more

Through a home service warranty company, Whitney was scheduled to snake out an in-house drain blockage. The tech showed up about 7:00 p.m. and said he had to phone in the service request. They knew it was a job that needed snaked, but he did not do a thing. Now it is 5 days later, after 3 phone calls and being told that "when the girls got in they would estimate the job," I have still heard nothing from them. Cannot use kitchen sink, or DW. WAITING!! Really, really poor experience. Made a claim through the home warranty company, which based on reading other reviews, I'm blown away they still send Whitney business. Guy showed up and told me all the reasons why the job couldn't be done. Took some pictures and left. A couple days later I get a quote saying that my claim was partially covered. After saying there was nothing that could be done, all of sudden there are things that can be done with dollars attached to them. Interesting. So because this was already off to a weird start, I hired a handyman to come in and complete another job on my shower in addition to part of the tub job that Whitney quoted me on. After he completed that, I asked Whitney if they'd still honor the quote even though part of it was done. They obliged. So at this point I felt pretty good about it because my handyman had overcome one of the initial hindrances to completing the job. They needed to replace the valve and faucet on my tub. A whirlpool tub with jets. A day before they show up, I received via Amazon a "Mobile Home Faucet Kit". I thought that was weird so I called and left a voicemail and incredibly they did call back to let me know that whoever ordered the part has been doing it for 30 years and he knows what he is doing. Okay. So the guys show up and the mobile home faucet doesn't fit and even if it would have fit, I'd have asked them to not install it. It was plastic and just comically cheap. They analyze the situation for themselves and let me know that there are several other reasons why they can't do the job. So they leave. The techs were nice and tried to be really helpful in brainstorming ways I could get the job done, I'll give them that. Unfortunately for me, I had already paid for the services for them to schedule the job. The services never happened. It's now been 2 weeks and I've left 5 or 6 voicemails with of course no response. There has been no effort made by the company to even explain a policy of taking money for services not rendered. The warranty company also does not care. American Home Shield for those keeping score. At this point, I have to chalk this up as a loss and luckily I was only swindled $300, but hopefully this review will save anyone else the trouble of working with this company. Whitney Plumbing is a complete scam. They do not follow up or respond to any concerns. They did not show up for 5 consecutive scheduled appointments. When they finally showed up after having to contact the CEO, they did not have the correct supplies, cut off my hose and ruined a $100 hose and spilled water all over the floor. They left a mess and a hole in the cement and the pipe was not sealed properly. Stay clear of the company. They are awful! read more

Pretty unfortunate experience with this company. We are going over a month now with a leak issue that is still unresolved and 3 visits from their technicians. Hold time to get to their office is typically 15+ minutes otherwise you have to leave a message which I have never received a return call from. They will self schedule services without your knowledge(they do reschedule if you reply via text). The last service scheduled for the same issue had no clue what he was here to fix and had no previous notes on what proper equipment to bring for the problem. I have also asked their office 4 times now for an emailed invoice of work done so far which I have still yet to receive. This company was pre selected via our home warranty otherwise I would not recommend after the chances and patience I have given them. read more

Couldn't agree with the other reviews. This company works with a home warrant company and between the 2 companies I have never experienced such terrible customer service. When I requested service through my home warranty Whitney Plumbing dispatched a plumber to my house TWICE without ever contacting me to schedule an appointment. I received a call from the plumber telling me he was in my driveway. I politely told him that nobody was home and I was never contacted to schedule an appointment the plumber left and then marked the job complete. Which then flagged the home warranty company to charge me for my service call. Good luck trying to get ahold of somebody at Whitney to try rectifying the situation. You'll receive the answering every time you call, and if your lucky you may get a random text message from an office worker stating she's been on the phone all day. This company are opportunist they charged me 1400.00 for two hours of worth of work and (materials likely less then 100.00). When ask for a break down of cost the electrician looked like he add seen a ghost. They replaced a mast that was damaged from a tree falling so they swooped in like vultures they took advantage of use and gouged us. Avoided this company at all cost. read more

Whitney was assigned through home warranty company and they came out and installed a brand new water heater with a visibly broken gas valve (smashed on the side and was blinking red with gas valve error). Had them come out the same day and told me they would have to order a part and left. Rescheduled me for two days later and then rescheduled the appointment again that same day. After taking off an additional day of work and waiting for them to arrive for 5 hours they cancelled with no update on a rescheduled date or even an apology. Forced to pay upfront so they could care less that I was without hot water. Called, texted and emailed along with other family members and never received a response. Rescheduled me a week after to fix the water heater that they installed. Went through another company that fixed the problem within fifteen minutes. Whitney is unprofessional and has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Their technician was unqualified and useless. Thankful that I do not have to deal with them ever again. read more

The worst customer service experience, Like most of the others we called our warranty company about a sewer backing up. Someone showed up to snake it, they were supposed to get back with us to scope it and we had to call twice to finally get that done. Then after some back and forth with different people we finally got an appt. to have the main drain line replaced. The company that showed up was not Whitney but I felt the did a fairly good job, but had to break up half our driveway. Since this was during the lockdown they couldn't get cement and said they would be back when they could. After construction opened up I called 4 times over a 5 week time frame to find out when they would be fixing my driveway, they never would give me an answer and said they would call us back in a day or two which they never did. We finally had to call the warranty company who put us in touch with Whinney, up to this point I didn't even know Whitney had anything to do with this since they had never was made any contact with us. After calling Whitney they tried to tell me construction was still closed and they couldn't get the cement. I am a licensed contractor so I knew this was a lie, and yet it still took 4 calls to get them to schedule my job. The other company (More than plumbing) finally showed up to pour the driveway, they didn't used any crushed stone or metal mesh/rebar. The driveway will not last 1 or 2 years because of this, then they would not come back to pull their frame/steaks, again blowing us off several times. After 5 or 6 weeks Whitney finally sent someone out to pull the stuff and after I told the guy how the other company poured the cement and wouldn't come back to get their stuff he said a supervisor would call me. That was late May it's now Aug. and I still haven't heard a word. I don't think Whitney cares about bad reviews because they have these contracts with the warranty companies and get the work anyways, but if your thinking of using them I would think twice. read more
