I too have had almost the same problem with Maurer plumbing & heating, in the Summer of 2016 I had a new furnace and hot water heater installed in my house because of natural gas finally coming down my road, they did a great job with the installation but during the winter my new hot water heater decided to quit during the night I did not find out till that morning (no hot water) i went down stairs and played with it for a few minutes and got it working, Over the next 4 days it happened 3 more times, On the 5th day I called AO smith and told them what was going on and gave them all the information, They contacted Maurer's and ordered the parts a couple of days later Maurer was there to fix it ,They put in a new regulator and said it should be ok, Two days later it quit again, Called maurer back ,They came back out and got it running at that time they ran all kinds of test and they would have to call AO Smith and give them readings from the exhaust pipe. A couple of days letter i got a bill for $89.00 for what has been done so far and I got a call from Rodney there was not enough exhaust leaving the exhaust pipe so his recommendation was a bigger exhaust and a different cap on the pipe. Rodney and i talked about the bill and the new recommendations he recommended, It was at this time that he agrees that if i paid for the new repairs that he would forgive the $89.00 bill for the regulator this should have been covered under warranty, So the repairs for the exhaust pipe have been paid for and i am still getting billed for the regulator i have been trying to contact Rodney to settle this but can never get ahold of him, so now i wait and see. I would not recomend Maurer I am not happy that you can never talk to anyone if you have issues , i could have bought my heater and furnace locally and just walked downtown if i have problems, Gordon M read more
